Authors Note- And here I am back again with yet another chapter to An Unlikely Friendship. As you can gather by now I only own Audrey and the plot. Everything else belongs to Hasbro. Now that we got that out of the way here is Chapter Seven. I hope you enjoy.
It had been days since Breakdown had joined the Autobots, and since then he had slowly but surely gotten used to things around the Autobot base. Sure, he wasn't completely used to the place, and in all fairness he wasn't the only one that was still having a hard time with him being there. Bulkhead, who he hadn't seen since the fight a few days ago. And from the looks he had received from the likes of Bumblebee, Arcee, and Ratchet it was safe to say they still didn't trust him. Well, it seemed Optimus sort of did, but even the Autobot leader kept his optic on him once in a while. And to make sure that they could keep an eye on Breakdown, he was tasked with helping Ratchet around his lab. Something, Breakdown was all too familiar with thanks to his time with Knock Out.
Knock Out...
A pang of guilt formed in his chest, as he cleaned up Ratchet's tools. Oh, how he regretted leaving Knock Out behind, but he knew it was probably for the best. Stop it! He thought, giving his head a shake, earning a look from Ratchet. You left him there. Left without a word, might as well accept that! Nodding to himself Breakdown completed his task, and then looked to Ratchet about to ask what else he could do. When the all too familiar sound Arcee and Bumblebee returning to base reached his audios. Along with them were the three human children that constantly frequented the base after school. Breakdown watched as the three humans climbed the stairs, chatting amongst themselves. Not bothering to pay Breakdown any attention as he watched them.
Feeling his optic on her Miko looked in his direction, and shot him a glare, before turning back to Jack. As Breakdown looked around once more, noticing that Audrey wasn't around. Though that wasn't surprising, as she has spent sometime with Fowler as he helped her relocate to Jasper. Breakdown couldn't help but feel guilty. She was only having her life up ended because of him and his antics. And now she was being forced her away from her home, away from her work, and away from school. But, Fowler had assured her that he would find her a new school for her to continue her work at.
Remind me to apologize. He thought. However, before he could think about that any further he felt someone tap him on the shoulder, making him jump. Turning around he faced Ratchet.
"What do you need?" he asked.
"I would like you to stack those empty energon crates." Ratchet said.
Breakdown looked to where Ratchet was pointing, before looking to the medic and nodding. As he moved to do just that, catching movement from the corner of his optic. Looking up he saw Bulkhead step into view. Blue optics narrowing as they settled on Breakdown.
Saying nothing Bulkhead moved further into the command room, and looked to where Miko was. An intense look on her face as she and Jack gamed. Bulkhead caught Miko's eye as Jack whooped in victory as he beat her. Bulkhead chuckled as she rolled her eyes, and met Bulkhead's gaze full on.
"You up for going on Patrol with me? Get some fresh air after being cooped up all day?"
Smiling Miko nodded, and hopped down the steps, and towards Bulkhead as he transformed. The two of them driving out of the base without another word. Miko peered out Bulkhead's passenger window, resting her head on her knuckles.
"Thanks for this." Miko said, after a while.
"For what?"
"Getting me out of there, the base haven't exactly felt the same since he arrived." Miko said.
Bulkhead had to agree. The base was a place where the Autobots could stay, plan their next move and regroup when it came to missions and patrols. And for the kids it almost became like a second home for them. A place where they could hang out, and spend time with the Autobots and even help out as well. A place where they could be safe. And now, Breakdown down was there. A mech that had threatened Miko's life more than once as well as his. And since Breakdown had arrived at the Autobot base, things felt... different. Bulkhead knew that it wasn't quite the right word, but he had to admit things had changed.
And to make matter worst? Bulkhead thought, as he reached the town and stopped at a red light. Was that Bulkhead knew Breakdown would betray them. And when that happened, Bulkhead growled, as he headed towards the KO burger at Miko's suggestion. Her stomach growling as she did. The Autobots would be doomed, as Megatron and his merry band of Decepticons scattered them to the winds.
"Bulkhead?" Miko's voice cut in, jerking the wrecker from his dark thoughts.
"Hmmm?"
"You missed the KO burger." She informed him.
"Oh! Sorry." Bulkhead said, as he rounded the corner, as he headed back in the direction if their destination. Once again lost in thought...
He was exhausted. Knock Out thought as he stared up at the ceiling of the quarters he had once shared with Breakdown. He had been unable to recharge since Starscream had given them the news about Breakdown's desertion.
Why?
That was a question that had been floating around his head for days now. Biting down on his bottom lip He rolled onto his side, optics glued on a picture that sat on his nightstand. Of Knock Out and Breakdown, both beaming at the camera. Breakdown's arm around Knock Out's shoulders. A bright smile on his orange faceplate.
Why had Breakdown abandoned them? Him?
Knock Out didn't know the answer as he picked up the picture, fingers brushing against it, a twinge of sorrow forming in his chestplate. But, Knock Out would not rest until he saw Breakdown again, until he was back at his side, and Knock Out would do everything in his power until Breakdown was.
Heaving a tired sigh, he placed the picture back down on the nightstand and moved to face the wall, optics off lining. Sleep soon gripping the medic, his dreams were of nothing but memories of Breakdown.
Breakdown, he thought. I miss you.
Authors Note- I guess you can say this chapter is filler? I wish I had more to say but I just got off work, so have a good day and I'll update as soon as humanly possible. With that out of the way this is The Exhausted Writer signing off. Have a goodnight!
