Day 2- Velma Pit… stop! - part 3

Velma felt better when Fred Jones' car stopped in front of her house. Daphne was on the passenger seat, and that made her feel more relieved. Velma opened the door quickly, then signaled them to get in and sit down on the couch.

Velma: Fred, honey, I'm sooo glad you came! I really need you to set a trap for me, to keep me in this house… I don't know, just tie me to my bed and don't let me go out until my parents return, ok?

Daphne: Are you serious? Is this the reason you´ve called us?

Velma: That's why I called HIM, honey! You didn't have to come with him...

Daphne: You're behaving like Penelope and you´ve called MY BOYFRIEND to tie you to a bed, so YES, I HAD TO COME WITH HIM!

Inevitably, Velma blushed after the misunderstanding. Fred was also embarrassed after hearing her question.

Velma: NO, IT'S NOT WHAT YOU'RE THINKING! I… I just need to stay here… until this crazy behavior ends, honey… I am in danger, and I need to stay here until…

Daphne: Velma, you have a job as a housekeeper! Staying at your own house is the only thing you can't do right now, you should be at the mansion! If Penny finds out, she won´t pay you and she'll be furious with me!

Velma: Honey, Judy Jetson has just asked me to go to the club and I said yes! I´VE ACCEPTED! My head said "no way", but somehow my fingers moved by themselves and said yes! And I don't know how I´ve done that! Now, I'm sure no matter how hard I try to stay here, my body will disobey me at any time, dress me like a cheerleader and go to the club with those… those… darlings!

Fred and Daphne looked at each other, and Fred signaled that he would leave them both alone to talk. Velma sighed when she saw her friend's attitude, because he obviously wasn't taking her despair seriously - and obviously wouldn't help her.

Daphne: Vel, listen… I understand how hard it is for you to confess that, deep in your heart, you like all these things that you've always criticized… but that's normal! You are 16 already, you are becoming a woman, it is ok if you don´t want to keep your old appearance and your old behavior... it is completely ok if you want to dress up, do other activities, drive and make new friends... every girl goes through this kidn of thing, some sooner, some later...

And, obviously, Daphne wasn't taking her seriously either, and obviously wouldn't help her.

Velma: NO, IT'S NOT OK, HONEY! DO I LOOK "OK" TO YOU? Haven't you seen me using a tiny skirt and driving like crazy? I would never do that, never!

Daphne: Vel, maybe that's the problem… you think you would never do such things and you insist that you are not this kind of person, but, at the same time, you want to do these things and you want to be a new person… psychology call it denial, you in denial, that´s why all these changes seem so strange for you! Look, maybe you should just relax and normalize everything... you're not doing anything wrong, it's your head and your prejudice that keep thinking it´s wrong... now, allow yourself to be who you really are... accept yourself... what's the problem to go to the club with the girls?

After telling some truths, Daphne hugged Velma for a moment. Though she felt embraced, those words made Velma feel more and more uncomfortable. What if Daphne, Marcie and Madelyn were right? What if she really was becoming a new person, and all the mess was caused by the prejudice she had against those popular girls and their lifestyle?

Daphne:… I mean, it's totally ok to go to the club with the girls when you're not working as a housekeeper at a mansion… but you are, so I think you should return to Pitstop Manor before Penny decides to run over us and pretendit was an accident…you saw with your own eyes how easily she escapes from the police…

Velma ended Daphne´s hug with a pat on her back. Anxiety paralyzed her for a moment, until Daphne pulled her towards the door. Before leaving, she took her cell phone and a Stephen Hawking´s book, to read while she stayed at the mansion. And she sighed, knowing that the same old Velma was still there, trapped somewhere inside her, but she didn't know how to bring her back.
