Chapter 21: A Strange Request

Year: X754. 30 years till Canon begins.

Cade POV:

After Master Makarov showed me the job request Porlyusica had sent me, I headed home for the day to try and make sense of what Porlyusica had wanted from me. I had brought the job request back to the manor with me, so that I could head out immediately the next day.

I had told Gildarts after receiving the request what I was doing tomorrow. We had both originally planned to go out on a job together the next day. Unfortunately, we now had to forgo those plans until another date. I didn't want to keep Porlyusica waiting, as I feared she would leave leave the forest and chase me with her broom if I didn't do the request in time.

I then headed back to the manor and kicked back, and relaxed for the rest of the day. As I was sitting outside and watching the birds chirp in the trees, I pulled out the job flyer from my pocket and looked over it again.

'It doesn't make any sense. Why would Porlyusica ask for my help? Why me in particular, is it because of my ice magic? There aren't any other Ice Mages in Fairy Tale, maybe that's why.' I wondered, as I struggled to understand why this has happened. However, as I thought these lingering questions, one very important one suddenly came to my mind.

'How does Porlyusica have 340,000 jewel on her?! What has she been doing for the last few years to accumulate all that money? I thought she was a hermit?' I realised in surprise. 'Well… I guess that's a question for tomorrow I suppose.'

I spent the rest of the day upstairs in my room, where I briefly played around with Malvel's spell book. However I got virtually no progress done that day, as I was too distracted with the job request to focus properly. When I put away the book under my bed, my gaze shifted to Sirius's key which was in a box next to the box the spell book was in.

'Damn. Almost forgot this was here.' I thought as I pulled out the key from the box, with me then standing up from the crouch I was in and twirling the key in my hand.

'It's been over a year and he still hasn't showed up. What with him?' I thought deeply, as I held the key to my right eye. There were just too many questions about that guy that I still wanted answered. From what Aquarius told me a few months ago when I saw her, it seemed like the other Spirits had no idea that Sirius was contracted to Ivy. Yet, Sirius said the opposite when I met him over a year ago now.

'Maybe I should go and ask Ivy in prison one day, if I have the time of course.' I considered, as my eye moved to the markings on the Celestial key.

The detail on these keys were incredible. They were most definitely crafted by fine blacksmiths based on the engravings I've seen on them. From the few keys I have seen in my life, each individual key had its own engraved markings to match what kind of spirit it was. Sirius had a faceless man with, a body that looked it it was turning to dust.

I then put these thoughts aside, and out the key back into the box and slid it back under my bed. 'They'll be another time in which I'll figure this out.' I then stood up and prepared myself for bed, and whatever Porlyusica wanted from me tomorrow.

The next day I woke up and went through my daily morning routine, before informing my mother about the incoming job today. She looked a little bit nervous when I said that I was going to the east forest all by myself, but I assured her that I would be safe in there as there was no hostile creatures in there. Besides, even if there was any hostile creatures that tried to fight me or eat me, I had magic to defend myself.

Once everything had been said and done, I exited the manor and headed up to the east forest to journey to Porlyusica's house. It took around a good 30 minutes to get there if there were no delays on the way, so I would be able to cross the forest in plenty of time.

It also helped that there was now a small pathway that led to her house from where I entered from. Originally you'd have to just cross over a bunch of branches and big plants in the way. I'm not sure whether Porlyusica had done that herself in the years since I had last seen her, or whether she just hired someone to do it for her. I get the feeling it was the former, even though it made less sense.

While I was making my way through the forest, I did occasionally stop to see if the Tonakai was around. Truth was, I had came back in here a few times to try and spot the majestic creature. I had actually seen him a few times far in the distance, yet I chose not to pursue him.

Sadly, I was unable to spot the creature. In fact… I saw hardly any creatures in the forest as I was walking. There was no rabbits running across the forest bed, no birds chirping in the trees… The forest seemed eerily quiet.

Eventually, I made it to Porlyusica's house with me approaching from the back. I crossed the garden, and didn't see any snacks for the Tonakai in her garden bed. I then made my way up the stairs and knocked gently on her door.

The door then opened and I was greeted by Porlyusica. What I found strange was that it looked like she was expecting me, as when the door opened she looked down as if she expected to see someone smaller than her to be on her doorstep.

"Good, you're here." She said with a sigh of relief. "Come in, I have to fill you in on the details about the job." She stated as moved to the side to let me in her house.

I was a little surprised to hear that from her. I wasn't expecting Porlyusica to be so generous with me today. I had thought she would tell me what to do, and then force me to do it while she had her broom equipped.

However, I knew that it might be best to not keep Porlyusica waiting for me so I quickly made my way inside her house.

The interior of the trunk of the tree she lived in had been hollowed out, creating a fairly large room. It was decorated rather sparsely, without too much furniture. The little furniture there consists of a bed, a working desk with a few chairs, several stumps, and numerous crates and barrels. There was also a large collection of books placed on shelves which were dug into the trunk of the tree.

"The inside of your house is very nice." I said, complimenting the interior design of her house. Porlyusica then made her way over to her desk and sat on one of the chairs and pointed to the one across from her.

"Take a seat." She requested as she looked up to where I was, her seemingly ignoring my compliment.

I then followed her instructions and made my way over to the opposite chair in front of her, and took a seat on it. "Look Porlyusica, I'm happy to help you here with whatever you need here, but I do have some questions about this." I spoke up to her, trying my best not to agitate her.

"And I shall answer them." Porlyusica replied firmly to me, as she looked outside her window and into the forest.

'Yikes, how serious is all of this?' I thought, as I heard the tone in Porlyusica's voice. "So, what exactly is the problem here?" I asked, deciding to get the most important and serious question out of the way first.

"It's… hard to explain… Did you feel that the forest was rather quiet was you were on your way here?" Porlyusica asked curiously, as she turned to face me.

"Yes I did. I just assumed all the creatures were maybe still hibernating or on the other side of the forest." I replied to her. Even thought I said that, I had a sinking feeling it wouldn't be the reason as to why the animals were gone today.

"Unfortunately that's not the reason as to why they have disappeared." Porlyusica muttered grimly. "It stared around three days ago now. I was outside tending to my garden bed, when all of a sudden I felt like I was being watched."

"I found it disturbing so I looked around the forest area near my house, to see if I could see someone. I didn't see anyone, so I went back to tending to the garden bed. An hour or so later, I noticed that I could no longer hear the birds in the trees." Porlyusica said continuing her story.

"It was as you said earlier. It felt like everything in the forest was suddenly disappeared in the blink of an eye. At this point I was very suspicious of what was going around in the forest. I was planning to go and have a look myself but it was getting late, so I chose to retire for the night and search tomorrow."

"The next day, I woke up and began to make my way through the forest trying to see what was going on. My house is located in the heart of the forest, so there was many different directions I could have gone in. I chose to go east from here, and found nothing. I then cycled back to my house and went west, following the path to Orchid village. Again I found nothing, and chose to return home." Porlyusica continued with a deep sigh.

"After that day, I chose to go south from my house to see if something was going on in that direction. After an hour or so of walking, I finally found what I was looking for: I saw a cave that led into the range of mountains that run along the edge of Magnolia. I got a bit closer to the cave and was stricken with fear when I heard voices I didn't recognise coming in from the cave. I listened in to what they were saying, and they kept muttering something about creatures and not finding something, though I could not make out what they were referring to. After that I bolted back here and sent out a job request to you." Porlyusica finished her long and uncomfortable experience.

"Ok then…" I said slowly, taking in everything she had told me just there. After about a minute of thinking, I asked the first thing on my mind.

"Do you think they are poachers? Maybe they are just trying to capture some of the animals and self them away." I suggested. "I can easily handle them for you if that's the case." I stated confidently.

"Poachers with magic of course." Porlyusica replied bluntly, as she gave me a serious expression.

"Huh? What makes you think they have magic?" I wondered in confusion to her.

"You see while many of the creatures in this forest are passive and will not attack humans upon seeing them, they do still know how to defend themselves if it comes down to it. Most of them are quite tough, so it would take mages to bring them down." Porlyusica answered, crossing her arms.

"Ah I see." I replied. "So that brings me to my next question. Why did you ask for me in particular?" I wondered, asking my most curious question next.

"Because I think they might have captured him." Porlyusica said grimly. "I haven't seen him around since this all started." She once again looked out the window and into the forest.

"Uh… who?" I struggled to think who it could be.

"The Tonakai you fool!" Porlyusica shouted as she suddenly whipped out her broom and hit me on the head with it. "Seriously, who else did you think I was talking about?" She muttered.

"Ohhhhh right. So you brought me because only myself, Master Makarov and you know about him!" I realised as I figured out the reason as to why I was chosen.

"Exactly. The less people that know about him, the better." Porlyusica explained, as she then placed her broom against the wall.

"So my final question is this. Seems like these guys have been here for a few days now, how come they haven't found your house yet?" I questioned. It felt strange that they hadn't found Porlyusica's house since the time they have been here. Her house was in the centre of the forest after all.

"Yes, that has also been something I have been wondering. My guess is that they entered the forest through the north or the south, as those are areas that don't connect to any towns – and they don't have pathways that lead to my house." Porlyusica responded.

I felt satisfied with the answers I had received, so I decided to get down to business.

"Well that about answers all of my questions about the job. I assume you want me to kick them out of the forest and see what they are up to? I only just realised you didn't tell me what you wanted me to do." I asked to the former Fairy Tale member.

"I thought that much was obvious." Porlyusica said, in a rather sarcastic tone. "Seems that your father passed more than his good spirit to you when you were born." She muttered, as she stood up and moved to the door.

She then opened the door, and turned back to look at me. "Alright, you have all the details. Now get out there and deal with them."

"Alright. So the cave is just south from here?" I asked as I stood up and moved to the door.

"Yes it is. Like I said earlier. You'll find it next to the mountain range that you can see along Magnolia." She replied back to me.

"Well, I should be back before the end of the day. It's not that far away after all from what you said." I said, as I walked out the door. "See ya later!"

Porlyusica just looked at me as I left the house, without saying a single word. The door then closed, and I was left on my own. Not wanting to waste any more time, I made my way through the south of the forest to where the supposed cave would be.

As I was walking I began to think of a plan when I got there. The way it was coming along in my head, I would first scope out the outside area of the cave. Then I would sneak inside and see how many people I would be dealing with, hopefully it wouldn't be that many people (I mean, I doubt you'd ever need more than three wizards to catch a wild animal).

After seeing how many wizards there would be I take one of them by surprise which should deal some good damage to them. Then I'd try and pick off the rest and take them down. Then I'd figure out what it was that they were doing, presumably free any animals they captured and head on back to Porlyusica to report my success.

I wasn't actually scared of being on my own for this job. Mainly because I had taken jobs by myself before in the last few months. Mother was hesitant to let me go, but I was able to convince her to let me go on my own. I was able to complete those jobs with little to no bother, so I was confident I could handle this.

As I was walking in the direction towards the cave, I noticed some tracks on the ground below me. I stopped and bent down to take a closer look at them. They were smooth and were a good distance apart from each other. They were in the shape of a straight line.

'Are these wagon tracks?'

They were going in the same direction as I was walking, meaning there was a good chance these belonged to the criminals. I decided to follow the tracks, hoping they would lead me to the cave.

After a good 30 minutes of walking, I came across a small clearing after emerging through some trees. In the distance I could see a cave that led into the mountain it was connected into. Upon seeing the cave, I quickly hid behind the trees behind me, and began to scope out the outside area to see if anyone was around.

I couldn't see anyone outside the cave, and I moved around to the left and right of where I was to see if I could see anything of interest. Nothing important caught my eye, so I carefully emerged from the trees, and made my way over to the entrance of the cave. While walking there, I noticed that the wagon tracks led into the cave.

'So these do belong to the criminals after all, huh?' I mulled with interest as I looked down at the tracks, and then back up to the cave. By this point, I was now practically inches from being inside the cave. On the walls to the left of the inside of the cave, I could see that there were lit torches meant to light up the interior.

Realising that I couldn't solve this job by just standing out here aimlessly, I picked a torch up off the wall, and headed forwards into the mouth of the cave to see if I could deal with these criminals.

While I was walking into the cave, I felt the inside of my jacket to see if my enchanted weapons were still there, and I accidentally hadn't dropped them. I felt my hand lightly brush alongside three smooth metal surfaces.

'Good. Would be bad if I had lost them in the forest back there.' As I brought my hand back down to my side. Before I had left, I had chosen to bring my Kaen, Kaminari and my Raito enchanted short swords along with me just in case I needed them.

Yes, I was pretty capable with my Ice Magic now, but it still didn't hurt to bring them along in case I needed them. Worst case scenario, I would encounter a wizard that would be able to nullify my ice in some sort of way.

As I thinking of what sort of mages I would find in this cave, I noticed I was coming up on an entranceway into a large cavern inside the cave. I slowed down, crouched down and hugged the wall to see not be seen by anyone that may be in there. I then made my way into the large cavern and had a look at what was inside of it.

It was a huge cavern with it dropping a good dozen or so feet from where I was. Currently, I had came out on an edge of the cavern walls, and was able to look down at everything. I could see dozens of caged animals, all of different species that were in a corner of the cavern far away from me. To my right was a large stone walkway that led down into the main cavern floor, presumably this is how the cart I was following got down into the main floor.

There was a pretty big hole in the roof of the cavern which let daylight pour into the room, there were also torches along the walls in case it got dark or the sun wasn't there to light things up.

As I looked around the room some more, I saw multiple men walking around below me. They were all wearing some rough clothing, and were carrying some crates in their hands. I then tried to count them as quickly as I could. It was hard because they were all moving, and I was trying to make sure I didn't count the same ones twice.

'… 8… 10… 14… 17 guys down there!? Christ, I'm not going to be able to deal with that many wizards all by myself!' I grimaced tensing up at the idea. 'Right… how am I gonna handle this…?'

As I was thinking of a game plan, I saw that one of the men, had came out of a doorway, which was located at the far back of the room. He closed it behind him and he then went to stand on a few crates close to the back of the room, and cusped his hands over his mouth to project his voice.

"Hey! Get your asses round here, I have an important message from the boss!" He yelled out, for everyone to hear. All of the other men in the cave that I could see, began to stop what whatever they were doing and quickly gathered round to hear what the man had to say.

"I just informed the boss there about our progress from yesterday, but he wasn't happy about us failing to locate the Magnistone. Now, when he tells me he wants something done in the next few days, he gets it – or we all face the consequences, isn't that right?" The man (presumably the second in command) said to the crowd.

Many of the men in the small crowd nodded their heads and muttered in agreement upon what he said. "But we've already checked all the animals for the Magnistone! How else does he want us to find it?" Said one of the men in response to the leader.

"How should I know?! Gut them all open for all I care! We need that stone by the end of the day, or else we'll fail to meet our expectations here!" Yelled the leader in response. He then turned to look at one of the members in the crowd.

"Here's a good idea. Edit your drones settings to locate humans and not animals." He said pointing at a young man. "Maybe we should try finding that person that apparently lives in the forest. They might know where it is." He suggested.

When he finished saying that, the young man he pointed at held out his hands and summoned three small drone like devices. He then bent down over them and pressed a button which summoned a small screen over each of them. He then began to type and wave his hands on them, and a few minutes later he grabbed onto a rope which appeared out of the bottom of one of the drones, then he and the drones flew out the top of the cave.

'Not good! He might end up finding Porlyusica's house. If he does, then he'll report back here and the criminals will find out where she lives!' I realised, panicking at that idea

"Alright then! Like I said, I don't very much care how we get the Magnistone, as long as we get it in the end that's all that matters." He declared to the crowd of men. "Our deadline is tomorrow morning, so let's try to meet it!" He ordered out at the men, before he then got off the boxes and headed over towards one of the cages, with the crowd of men dispersing after he said that.

'This isn't good, not good at all.' I thought internally. 'If I don't stop these guys now, they'll just kill all the animals here and kidnap Porlyusica.' I shuddered, shaking my head at the idea. 'But how do I stop them?' I mulled over some ideas in my head. I then began to quickly look around the room for ideas on how to stop them.

I did consider freeing the animals, thinking some of them may even help me and cause a good distraction. However, I took a look at some of them again, and saw that some of the animals were mostly small and harmless creatures like rabbits and foxes.

However, some cages housed creatures like the Wilderstag, Honey Badgers and Trunkocus; creatures that were known for holding grudges towards others. They may be passive, but they know how to defend themselves.

I then noticed a large number of barrels tied up by rope a good distance above the ground, which were conveniently laid down in the position to where they would go rolling everywhere if I cut them loose.

'Yes… that might work.' I considered, with a plan forming my head. If I could sneak down to the barrels and cut the rope, then they would cause a distraction for me to take the criminals by surprise and release the animals!

My gaze then drifted to look at the door that the man had came out of earlier. My guess was, that's where the boss of this whole operation is located. Once I had dealt with theses guys here, I'd head in there and confront him.

Choosing to not dwell any more, I began to sneak down towards the cavern floor, along the stone walkway. I was making sure to stay low and stop if I looked like I was about to be spotted by anyone. I had to constantly hide behind crates and barrels to make my way over to the huge rack that held the distraction I was looking for. Being small meant that I could crawl, duck and hide behind anything that could cover me.

After a few minutes of sneaking, I was able to make it to the rack of tied up barrels. I was currently a few good meters above the cavern floor, so if I cut the barrels they would be seen by everyone and maybe even knock a few of the men out.

I did give the barrels a gentle and quiet knock to conform that they were hollow, and thankfully they were. Considering that they were hollow, they wouldn't end up killing another person if they ended up rolling over them.

I would have to stand up and get on a barrel to cut the rope that held all the barrels. However, this would mean that there would be a good chance I would be seen by all the men below me. They were all moving around after all, so the chances of one of them seeing me would be quite high.

Knowing the risks of this whole idea (and being prepared for them) I took out my Kaen short sword and immediately stood up and began to cut away at the rope that held the barrels.

'Ugh, who made this stuff? Why is it so thick?!' I cried out in my head.

After a few seconds I heard a voice yell out. "HEY! What do you think you're doing kid!?" Yelled a man.

I chose to ignore this outburst from the man, and continued to cut away at the rope that held the barrels. Seconds later, I was able to cut away at the rope that held the barrels up. 'Finally.' I thought, as the barrels all began to roll downwards and into the cavern floor.

Many of the men down below me began to duck and dive out of the way to avoid all the barrels as they were headed their way.

Others however, were not so lucky, as the barrels hit some of them on the back and from the side which knocked them unconscious. I chose not to ignore this opportunity, as I used the rope from the barrels to rappel myself down to the cavern floor. I then spotted a man ready to duck out of the way from an incoming barrel, he however was oblivious to me as I was ready to fire a spell at him.

"Ice Beam!" I cried out, which sent a beam of ice hurtling towards the man, and hitting him on his side which pushed him in the way of another barrel coming towards him. Of which it quickly hit him and knocked him down for good.

I then turned my gaze to the larger locked up creatures. I quickly fired off a blast of ice which destroyed some of the cages, releasing the animals. They then took revenge on the humans that locked them up, as they attacked them before running up the pathway I came down that led out of the cave.

I was able to take a few more men off guard, and hit them with a good few attacks of which I combined my four different types of magic that I had on me, which was able to throw them all for a loop.

"Flaming Light Blast!"

"Thundering Ice Shockwave!"

"What the!?" "This kid's got more than one magi-GAH!" "I saw Ice and Lightning!" "Someone get him!" "It's hard with all these barrels!" "He just used a Fire spell on Zack ther-OOF!" "ARGH! He just blinded me!" "He's lighting the barrels on fire with his sword look out!" "Watch out! The animals are loose!"

Came the voices of all the men in the cavern as they dodged the barrels, animals and my mixture of attacks that were sent their way. I had even lit the barrels on fire with my magic for some extra bit of chaos. Many of the men were now knocked unconscious due to the damage they had taken, only a few were left and they were also on their way to seeing stars in the coming moments.

By this point the leader of the group who made that little speech a few minutes back, was now running around trying to attack me with his magic, him clearly ticked off about me buggering his whole operation just there.

"SOMEONE GET A HOLD OF THAT KID RIGHT NOW!" He yelled out, as he then noticed one of the men with a few burns on his arms, on top of a crate avoiding the chaos. "ZACK! STOP HIDING AND GET HIM WITH YOUR MAGIC." He boomed out, as he pointed to where I was.

"Ah, yes of course! Ivy Tentacle!" He yelled out which caused a huge smooth tentacle made out of Ivy to burst out of the ground and wrap itself around me holding me up in the air – me having not seen that attack coming just there.

"Argh!" I grunted, as I ended up dropping my Kaen and Raito short swords to the ground below, as I was wrapped up. The leader and the wizard called Zack (along with a few others that survived the moment of chaos just there) then approached me, with them not seeing me as a viable threat anymore. There were no animals left running around now, so it was just me and the criminals.

"Well now, want do we have here?" Declared the leader with a grin. "Someone's brat decided to play hero, hmm?" He scoffed in a cocky and arrogant tone. "You've certainly caused us a bit of trouble here, with you knocking a few of our team members out, but we'll manage all the same. Since you've presumably seen this whole operation just now, I can't let you leave till we're done here." He stated laughing at the end of saying that.

I winced a little as I felt the Ivy tentacles tighten their grip around me as I tried to break free from the plants. The wizard that was named Zack then smirked at me.

"Heh, if I were you I'd stop struggling at those vines that are wrapped around you." He said as held up his hand and began to move it around slightly, which caused the vines to tighten around me even more. "The more you struggle against them, the more I'll tighten their grip around you." He said scornfully, as he put his other hand on his hip.

"That so…" I muttered, struggling to get the words out. "Well then, I gotta see the boss you presumably have behind that door over there… Guess there's only one thing to do now... Henshin!" I cried out, as I gripped my hand on the vines and casted the spell.

As soon as I said that, the vines quickly began to turn into stone, much to the horror of the people below me.

"What in the-?!" Cried out the leader as he took a step back in astonishment at what he was seeing. Zack was now struggling to keep control of the vines with him having to hold out both hands to try and hold the spell.

As the stone began to slowly began to make its way up to me (when I casted the spell I made it to where the stone would begin to take over the vines at the bottom of the plant) I could feel the grip around me quickly loosing up, and I was then able to break free from the vines which seemed to anger the leader below me.

Most of the criminals then picked up whatever they could find on the floor, whether it was debris from the chaos caused by the barrels, or weapons that were on the ground that previously belonged to someone else, and then charged towards me.

"Argh!" Cried Zack in fear at his spell completely failing at its purpose. "Ivy Seed Bomb!" He cried out, as he held his hands outwards and sent a couple of giant green Ivy balls hurling towards me.

I smirked as I then picked up my two swords on the ground and spun them around in my hands before crying out.

"Shining Waves of Flame!" I yelled, which sent a wave of fire and light out from my Kaen and Raito respectively. The two different elements then combined to create a wave of shining fire which sped towards the criminals. Zack's Ivy attack was completely burned away by the flames and he and the other criminals were blown away by the attack and sent hurling back, with them crashing to the floor not long after.

"Man. I sure do love having more than one magic." I said to myself.

'Well… that was rather short.' I realised as I looked around the cavern to see if anyone was left standing after the attack – or if anyone of the criminals were still standing at all after those last few minutes.

The entire cavern was not a wreck, with loads of unconscious men and bits of wood, wood that was on fire and metal lying all over the floor. The animals were completely unharmed, as I had tried to not hurt them when I was casting my spells.

I then walked over to the unconscious body of the leader of the group, and rummaged my hands through all of his pockets.

'Let's see… it has to be here… please be… ?! Ahah!' I thought pleased, as I pulled out a set of keys from his pocket. 'These should free the rest of the animals in the cages.' As I made my way over to the cages which held the smaller animals.

When I got there, I unlocked the cages and began to free the animals inside of them. Upon being freed, they all made their way up the walkway that I had previously came down from to get back into the forest (the creatures with wings choosing to fly up out the gap in the ceiling to freedom). Hopefully they would make it back to the forest ok.

'Well, that's this one part of this job over and done with. Can't believe I was this worried about all those men earlier, seems like only two of them were mages.' I sighed in annoyance as I looked around the room at all of the downed mages. 'If I'd known that beforehand, I'd just have gone in guns blazing!'

I then turned to look at the door at the far edge of the cavern, which the leader had previously came out of. 'I wonder if the boss of this whole operation is though there.' I wondered curiosity, as I made my way over to the door.

Upon reaching the door, I turned the door handle and was surprised to find that it was unlocked. I then made my way through into the passageway to see what I would find in the other end of the cave. The passageway was very dimly lit, with torches far apart from each other on the walls.

I continued to walk for a few minutes before I then came to a corner, and upon turning the corner I was greeted by another door. I put my ear to the key hold and listened in. I was shocked to actually hear something on the other side of the door. I then put my eye to the keyhole and looked into the room.

It was hard to see due to the narrow viewpoint and the room seemed a bit dim, but I could clearly see a man with a bald head sitting at a desk, wearing a brown long sleeved shirt, while writing with a quill on a piece of parchment.

'So this guy is the boss of this whole place then, huh?' I remarked internally, as I retracted my head from the keyhole. I then took a deep breath and tried the doorknob.

It was unlocked.

I then could faintly hear a grunt of surprise from the other side of the door (the man obviously hearing the doorknob turn), and I then opened up the door and entered it to confront the boss head on.

"And who are you supposed to be?" Demanded the boss as he saw me when I entered the room. The room we were now in was a decent sized room, with a floor made out of wooden planks. There were torches on the wall which helped illuminate the whole room for me to see. The man was sitting at a desk which had a quill and parchment on it.

"I'm the guy that just beat up all your men back there." I stated confidently as I pointed backwards to the hallway in which I had came from with my thumb.

"Really now? I had heard noises earlier, but I assumed that it was some sort of ruckus, like the barrels getting loose again." He said, surprised at my statement just there,

'Funny you say that…' I thought with amusement. "I assume you're the boss of this whole operation then?" I asked, demanding some answers from him.

"I am." He answered. "And what's all this to you then? How have you found us, and why do you care so much about what's going on here?" The boss questioned in an abrupt yet curious manner.

"I'm just doing my job!" I declared as I pulled out the job contract I had received yesterday and held it up to the boss for him to see.

"What!? A job contract?" The boss exclaimed a bit taken aback with this information. "And what guild are you with then?" He asked, inquiring for details.

I smirked and pulled up my sleeve on my arm to show the boss my red Fairy Tale guild mark. When he saw it, his eyes widened a bit, before he regained his composure. "Fairy Tale?" He muttered, him sounding annoyed at that detail he had just learned.

"I thought we were careful entering the forest from the mountains, but it seems he was wrong about that." The boss muttered as he scrunched his face in an irksome expression.

"And who's he meant to be then, hmm?" I inquired curiously with a grin on my face, at the man spilling some details just there.

"That's none of your business you little pest!" The man replied with a scornful expression, as he stood up from his seat. Upon him standing up, I could see that he was quite a big man with large muscles all across his body. He wore some big thick cargo trousers which were coloured black.

"You've been messing with things you shouldn't have! You've put a large dent in my operation here and wasted my time. But I'm not going to waste any more of it with you." The boss stated smirking at that last part, as he cracked his neck and knuckles.

"Hmph, I just took your entire squad back there. If I were you I'd come quietly. Least then you might get to avoid a beating from me." I said confidently as I prepared to fight the man.

"Is that so then!" The boss said chucking to himself. The boss then leapt up on his table and extended out his hands. "Beast Take Over Soul: Alpha Werwolf!" He shouted out in a sadistic manner.

The sclera in his eyes then turned black with his irises turning red, and he began to grow bigger and bigger. His clothes began to rip apart, as his arms burst through his shirt and began to grow tuffs of thick black hair. His hands began to turn into jagged claws, and I saw that his feet had now been replaced by some sharp claws as well.

At this point the table had broken and he was now on the floor, yet he was still growing! I could see that a tail had suddenly grown out, just above his rear end and it was long and smooth had a sharp spike on the end. His head was now in the shape of a wolfs head, except the teeth were razor sharp and looked like they could bite through wood. His ears were now pointed and upwards and his nose was now a small snout.

His hair was now covering almost his entire body now, with a huge mane of hair erupting from the back of his head. His chest and legs were now covered in the dark and messy hair. Despite how thick it was, I could still tell that he hasn't lost his muscular shape as before.

The transformation had now finished, and across from me stood a giant werewolf a good few meters tall, with claws that could slash through steel. The werewolf then looked down at me and laughed at me.

"Gahahaha! What's wrong kid? Where did that confidence you had go?" He questioned as he smiled sinisterly.

I was very intimidated by the sight before me. I had certainly not expected this when going on this job. I was completely terrified by the sight of that monster before me! This thing looked like it could swallow me whole and spit out my bones!

The werewolf then held up its hand and quickly slashed it down trying to slice me into pieces. I was just about able to dodge the slash attack, by regaining my composure and rolling to the side. The attack then made contact with the wooden floor instead and slashed right through the floorboards.

This seemed to cause the entire floor to give way, as the all the floorboards collapsed in on themselves, sending me and the werewolf down into the shaft that led down below. When he slashed his claw and hit the floorboards, he must have ended up hitting a support beam by mistake.

We ended up falling a good few seconds before we then fell into a large cavern which had a lake that was below us. When I made contact with the water, I quickly swam to shore to get away from the werewolf. Upon crawling to shore, I then looked behind me and saw the giant creature leap up out of the water and soar right over me before landing a decent distance in front of me, and then turning round to see me.

"You best take a good look around you little urchin. This will be the last place you ever see." The werewolf declared, as it let loose a blood hounding roar, which echoed off the walls of the cavern we had fallen into.

'Dammit! Guess there's only one way out of this!' I realised with a panic, as I prepared myself for a fight for my life.

And scene! With that, this chapter comes to an end! Do leave a review of your thoughts.

What did you think of everything that happened in this chapter? What are the criminals looking for? Why were they kidnapping animals for it? Will Porlyusica be found by the strange drone magic user? And most importantly… how will Cade deal with this giant obstacle in his path?

Questions for next time I am afraid.

Also I feel it's important for me to mention that I have now started college this year. It'll be hard work for me to pass the course this year, so I may not be able to work on this as much as I would like to. Sorry but my personal life is kind of more important than this.

Basically, don't be surprised if I'm unable to upload every week. The only time I'd consider putting this story on hiatus is if exam were coming up, which is still a while away. I shall still try to work on this story as much as I can however. Just figured I should let my viewers know.

Anywho, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I hope I will see you in the next chapter!
