Chapter 32
Without wasting any time, Mr. Negative slammed his sword into the ground, sending a shockwave of his Negative Energy towards Spider-Man. However he dodged the attack and used his web line to zip right into Mr. Negative's space, getting close enough to land several blows before having to dodge a sword strike, which he did so by sliding under the man's legs and getting behind him. He spun around and landed a few more blows before webbing up Mr. Negative as much as possible.
"This isn't you Mr. Creel." Spider-Man remarked. "This rage at Mayor Osborn is twisting you, turning you into this monster."
Mr. Negative roared in rage. "You know nothing about me, that beast has to pay, you are working for him, aren't you!"
"Of course not, I-"
"Don't lie me!" Mr. Negative snapped. "You wouldn't be trying to stop me otherwise!?"
He ripped himself free of the webs and began to attack with several sword strikes and also more shockwaves forcing Spider-Man to dodge repeatedly and not be able to get another blow in for quite some time.
"I'm trying to stop you because you're committing terrorist acts, you tried to kill people here with a bomb!" Spider-Man pointed out.
But then, Mr. Negative managed to trick Spidey, who despite his Spider Sense didn't know the exact danger and he was finally hit by a shockwave and was sent flying into a nearby train. The damage being done here was unfortunate, but couldn't be helped, this was just yet more damage.
Glaring at Spider-Man who was coughing, trying to pull himself up, Mr. Negative tightened his grip on his sword.
"You fool, why should I care for those Osborn sheep, they are the ones who keep giving him more and more power." He growled. "You protect those people, like a good little Osborn drone."
Spider-Man was on his feet now and exclaimed. "Where the hell did you go wrong Creel, where's the man who built himself up from nothing and gave the homeless of this city a chance!"
"Silence, F.E.A.S.T. was stripped from me-!" He yelled back.
But Spider-Man wouldn't let it lie. "Yet instead of building yourself up again, as you've shown you're capable of doing, you throw yourself into the pit and become a monster, you let Osborn win!"
"I said, SILENCE!" Mr. Negative yelled as he attacked again.
He missed but Spider-Man noted the way he hesitated, the Negative energy around him flickered. This was the opening he needed, if he could just unbalance him a little more then he could take him down and end this fight. But as for what happened after that, he had no idea.
"You know nothing about me!" Mr. Negative raged. "How Osborn ruined me, how Osborn protected the monster who destroyed me like this!"
"So that's an excuse to go on a rampage as a monster and prove yourself to be what they made, instead of proving yourself better?" Spider-Man quipped.
Mr. Negative growled, but his power flickered again and that was the opening Spidey needed. He used two web-lines to zip in and launch a blow with both feet right in Negative's face. Spidey then quickly webbed him against the pillar and snap the sword as the Negative power faded away, leaving a broken Henry Creel lost in dismay.
Mike sighed as he watched Creel being escorted out in cuffs, being sent to a special police vehicle to take him to The Raft. The rest of the Demons were also being removed, the bomb had been dismantled and was taken away. He was standing on a nearby rooftop thanks to Spider-Man who was standing next to him. They watched the hostages, including the other members of the Party being debriefed and released, things were finally winding down. It was clear that Creel was broken, lost in despair.
"He blames Oscorp for everything." Spider-Man explained. "Even that...power of his."
Mike nodded slowly. "It could be possible, Oscorp isn't known for its ethical experiments after all."
Spider-Man shrugged. "True...Still, I guess the threat posed by Mr. Negative and the Demons is over...there's still other things out there."
Mike nodded in agreement as he stood, wondering, he was so close to Spider-Man. The one who had saved him so many times. But then his mind went to Will and what had developed between them and he was awkward again, feeling conflicted.
"I gotta say, you did good." Spider-Man then said, getting closer to him. "It was risky, but you did it, you defused the bomb, you saved everyone, even me I'll bet."
Mike flushed at that. "Oh um, I...thanks, that's uh…"
Spider-Man tilted his head. "You okay?"
"I um...there's something I need to say." Mike explained.
Spider-Man nodded, ready to listen.
Realizing this and that he had to get talking, Mike bit his lip. He then took a deep breath and began to explain his problems, his conflict. He admitted his crush on the hero, but also telling him about Will and his feelings for the boy who had been part of his life for so long. Listening to this Spider-Man was amazed and shocked, as well as feeling warm as he realized just what this meant and hope swelled in his chest. He knew right away he could end that conflict Mike was feeling, although it was a risky move, it was the only way he could see to resolve it.
"So yeah, it's...it's hard, I mean, I really am grateful you saved me and that is making me crush on you. But...I really like Will and…" Mike was rambling.
He stopped however when Spider-Man spoke up. "Mike um...there's something I have to show you."
Mike immediately was tense at that, also noting that Spidey's voice had changed, not quite so 'deep'. Then suddenly, Spider-Man pulled his mask off in front of him and Mike froze in shock, gasping as he saw the truth, Spider-Man was Will Byers.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
