Running With Wolves
A few days after the dinner and memory viewing, Klaus sat at the bar inside the Grill with a tumbler of Bourbon, the bottle left with him when Stefan and Damon entered. The Salvatore brothers sat on either side of Klaus. In the short time being in Mystic Falls, mostly everyone got along, not including a few people. Damon and Klaus could be seen throwing flirty comments back and forth at each other, as well as the both of them flirting with Leilani. She would flirt just as much. Klaus smirked when he remembered something he learned about his old friend, "So, Stefan? How was it being a woman?" Damon choked on his drink when his younger brother answered, "Educational."
Their banter was disrupted by the shrill voice of one Elena Gilbert, "Stefan, Damon. Finally escaped those people?" She didn't see three pairs of eyes roll since she was looking down, shuffling her feet trying to seem innocent. Elena had been waiting for the opportunity to speak with either or both Salvatore brothers so she could convince them that they were under a spell. She was determined to get them back under her thumb and make them hers to toy with.
Stefan looked over his shoulder at the girl he thought he loved and felt nothing but disgust and annoyance. He turned back around, "What do you want, Elena?" Damon was watching the Doppelganger through the mirror behind the bar. Momentarily lost in thought, "Do all bars have mirrors?" Damon shook his head to clear, slammed the rest of his drink, threw some money on the bar, and stood, "We need to leave if we want to be on time." They don't need to be anywhere; he was just making an excuse to get away from the annoying girl. Stefan and Klaus finished their drinks, added their own money, and left with Damon. Elena tried to follow but the nameless guy cut her off, "So? Round two?" She rolled her eyes and pushed past him.
Stefan and Klaus caught up to Damon, "Where to?" Damon shrugged, "Thought I go pester Leilani. See if there's any progress on the Sanctuary." Stefan nodded but Klaus was confused, "Sanctuary?" Damon patted Klaus on the shoulder, "Yep. It's one of those things where you have to see it to believe it." "I've seen it and I still don't believe it," Stefan says as he thought about meeting Buckbeak. And that's how Klaus found himself chasing Hans trying to get his Rolex back. Stefan and Damon falling on the floor laughing.
"Are you sure this will work?" Greta asked Bonnie. The two witches were waiting in the shadows, watching Draco and Scorpius in the ice cream parlor across the street. Bonnie scoffed, "Of course it will work. It's our only shot to get more power and it gets rid of two of these freaks." Bonnie had found a dark ritual that needed a sacrifice to gain more power, and since Greta is helping, they would need to sacrifice two powerful beings. Greta squared her shoulders, "Fine."
Draco and Scorpius walked out of the parlor to head home when Draco felt the humming of magic surrounding him. He held tighter to his son and pulled his wand, not caring if he was seen. His grip on his wand slackened when a spell hit him making his arms go numb. He dropped Scorpius, causing the child to cry from the fall. Draco dropped to his knees to try and calm his son but he couldn't move his arms. He started to panic, his magic building up to lash out at whoever spelled him. Soon, Bonnie and Greta were standing above him. Greta was chanting, he could feel himself getting weaker. Bonnie quickly snatched Draco's wand from the ground and snapped it. The pain from his wand being snapped caused him to crumble to the ground.
Bonnie was chanting alongside Greta, both Draco and Scorpius were getting weaker. With the last bit of magic and energy, Draco threw his numb arm around his son and loosely grabbed his broken wand and apparated back to the Evans' household. The landing was harsh for the both of them. Scorpius was sobbing loudly, gaining the attention of those who were present. Fred kneeled down and comforted Scorpius, trying to get the child to calm down.
Narcissa felt her son and grandson arrive and was heading to the foyer when she heard Scorpius crying. She ran as fast as she could to them. She was handed a crying Scorpius so Fred could help Draco. Draco was trying to stay awake and explain what happened, he lifted his broken wand to show it was snapped. Fred called, "Pip!" "Yous call, sir," Pip materialized next to Fred. "Pep up potion, please. And get Fenrir," Fred commanded. Pip soon returned with the potion, followed by Fenrir. Fred told the werewolf what Draco told them and showed the broken wand. Fenrir took the pieces to his shop while Fred and Narcissa took care of Draco and Scorpius. Afterward, the household was informed of what happened. Leilani and Narcissa sought out the two witches who dared to hurt their family.
Fred and George had the map unfolded, laying over the dining table. George spotted their names, "There. It looks like they're heading out of town. Need to hurry." Narcissa and Lei look at the location and walk out of the house. Lei turns to Narcissa and nods. No words need to be said, these witches are not going to get away with this. Apparating to the end of Wickery Bridge in front of Bonnie's car, cutting off the witches' escape. Narcissa points her wand at Bonnie's car, "Confringo!" The hood blew off the car from the fiery explosion.
Bonnie and Greta jumped out of the car before they could burn. Both witches run in separate directions. Narcissa went after Greta while Lei chased Bonnie. Lei caught Bonnie by using a tripping Jinx. Bonnie scrambled to get away but Lei tied her up, "You will not get away with this. Expulso!" Lei shuddered when she realized she was standing too close to Bonnie now that she was covered in her entrails. Lei taps her wand against her chest and mutters a cleansing charm, vanishing the mess. She then goes to look for Narcissa. When she finds her, she smirks.
When Klaus returned to where he was staying, Jonah and Luka informed him that Greta was being very secretive and had not been home all day. He pulls his phone out and calls his brother, "Elijah? You didn't happen to see my witch, did you?" "No, Niklaus. It seems Miss Bonnie Bennet has not been seen either," Elijah answered. Klaus walks out of the apartment to meet Elijah and search for the witches but a loud Crack is heard inside his apartment, followed by yelling. Klaus goes back inside with his brother behind him and stops in his tracks.
There in the middle of the living room is a levitated Greta. Her breathing is rapid and shallow, "Help me." Further in the room is a furious Leilani with a snake wrapped around her neck like a dainty scarf. "They can't help you. Nobody will help you," Leilani wandlessly and nonverbally casts Colloshoo, Sticking everyone in place. Jonah yelled, "Let us go. Give me back my daughter!" Lei hissed at Jeff, "Silly humans. Think they can beat me." "My Mistress is better. Can I bite her?" Jeff hissed back. "No, she is cursed," Lei answered. Jeff pouted then curled a little tighter around Lei's neck. She looked up at the people in the room, "Greta and Bonnie attacked Draco and Scorpius. Snapped Draco's wand, which is the same as breaking an appendage. They were trying to steal their magic and then they were going to kill them."
Greta's shallow breathing could be heard as she spoke, "We're not the only ones. There will be others. We will not stop until every last one of you is dead." Luka shook his head at his sister. Jonah's face was unreadable, he didn't know what to do. Should he save his daughter and risk dying alongside her or let her die and lose one of his children. Jonah glanced at his son and had his answer, he will not save his daughter. Klaus and Elijah stood there in silence. One of their rules was to not hurt children and the witches have done so.
Leilani moved closer to Greta, "Let them come. It won't be the first war I've fought and it won't be the last." Lei moved around Greta to leave the apartment when Jonah asked, "You're just going to leave her like that?" Lei faced the Warlock, "No. As soon as I leave, she will fall." When Lei was closer to the door she heard Greta try to say something but the curse Narcissa cast on her activated. It was a combination of three curses, Deterioration Hex, Drought Charm, and Duro(Hardening Charm). Her body dehydrated to the point of mummification then crumbled into dust as she descended to the floor.
All that could be heard in the apartment was the closing of the front door. Internally, Klaus' wolf was raging, clawing to get out, "Don't let her leave! She is ours! NO!" Externally, his face was blank. Jonah and Luka are arguing about how to counter the spell that has them stuck but it was pointless as they soon were able to move. Jonah was on his knees near Greta's pile of dust, silent tears streamed down his face. Luka also had tears but he was angry with his sister, "How could she be so stupid as to go after a child?" The question was rhetorical. Elijah cleared his throat and adjusted his cuffs, "I need a drink." Klaus nodded his head and followed his brother, all the while thinking of ways to apologize for Greta's actions.
The next day, Jeremy had a good day and was going to spend some time with Charlie and the dragons when he heard a man yelling at his child, "You little freak! You blew up the TV!" Jeremy could hear a child crying, "It was an accident!" "I don't care. Your freakishness is going to stop!" The yelling had died down after that, but Jeremy was already worried. He came into the Evans home and saw Bill first, "Hey, have there been any weird things going on?" Bill turned to Jeremy, "Weird how?" "Well, on my way here I heard a guy yelling at his kid for blowing up the tv with his freakishness. The kid was crying and said it was an accident," Jeremy says. "Sounds like accidental magic," Bill thinks out loud. Bill walks off to find Hermione or Leilani, "Come on. Let's find the girls. Leilani, I know, will want to meet the kid. We have diagnostic spells we can run."
Jeremy, Bill, Leilani, and Charlie walked to a house about a half block away to check on the family. Before Jeremy could raise his hand to knock, yelling could be heard again. This time the voice sounded like the mother, "You ungrateful little shi…" Jeremy knocked loudly, cutting the woman off. She answered the door with a fake smile, "Yes? How can I help you?" Jeremy recognized the woman, "Susan, hi. I was wondering if Joshua wanted to go for a playdate with Conri? We were going to the park."
Susan scoffed, "Joshua can't come out and play. He's got chores." Jeremy leaned to the side to look past Susan and saw Joshua spying on them, "Hey, Josh. Are your chores done, buddy?" The little boy shuffled his feet but kept his head down, "Yes, I finished them." Susan was getting irritated with the people on her porch. She huffed, "Fine. One hour. Then he has to be home for dinner." Jeremy didn't say anything, just nodded and held out his hand for Joshua to take. The little boy wasted no time and ran out the door and grasped Jeremy's hand. They looked back when they heard Susan slam the door.
Joshua was playing with Conri, Althaia, and Scorpius for about 20 minutes before Bill and Hermione had the kids stop playing for a moment. Joshua was told to stay still for a moment and not to be afraid. Bill cast several diagnostic spells while Hermione talked to him. The results were as they suspected, Joshua is a Muggleborn. "It seems Leilani's idea of a school may need to be built," Hermione took the results to show Lei. Joshua asked Bill, "Is there something wrong with me?" Bill smiled at the little boy, "Not at all. You're special. Like us."
When Jeremy took Josh home, Bill and Lei went with them. They were going to explain what was happening to their son. The conversation didn't go so well. Joshua ended up going back to the Evans household in tears because his parents didn't want a freak for a son. Leilani knew how it felt to be treated like this, "It's alright. You're safe with us." After calming down, Josh was shown to a guest room next to the twins' for the night.
Lei, Bill, and Hermione sat down and discussed recreating something similar to the student registry at Hogwarts. A book connected to a charmed monitor that detects magic. "It will have two monitors connected to the book. One for Witches and Warlocks, and the other for wand wielders. Then different colored ink for the type of magic. If it's not harmful the ink would be black. Harmful spells in red, and accidental magic in blue," Bill suggested. Both Lei and Hermione agreed. Leilani was deep in thought, "I'll start looking for a bigger property for the school. If our magic is adapting to this world, it won't be long before we have several children in our care."
Klaus and Maddox were walking through the ritual site a few days before the night of the full moon. The Hybrid-to-be was extra moody since the day Greta was justifiably killed. He felt even more unbalanced after Leilani left. Klaus wanted to go over to Leilani's home just to see her, but he was too prideful to admit it. Maddox shook his head. He could see Klaus' inner debate, "Just go over there. Greta's actions weren't your fault and Lei knows that. We're nearly finished here." Klaus scowled at his witch before disappearing. Maddox chuckled and followed at a human pace.
He was surprised when a child answered the door, "Hello? Should you be answering the door, little one?" Josh just shrugged, "You knocked." "He's not wrong," Fred chuckled as he came to the door. Fred whispered to Josh to go play and let Klaus in, "She's in her art studio." Fred escorted Klaus though the home. The Hybrid felt eyes on him but couldn't see who it was until Fred said something, "Padfoot. Stop lurking." Klaus was startled when a man's portrait answered, "I'm not lurking." Fred shook his head, "You let the guy watch Scooby-Doo one time."
Leilani's delicate brush stroke was interrupted by Sirius, "It's the wrong shade." She was frustrated with her dogfather, "Sirius, try to correct me one more time and I'll repaint your portrait with a receding hairline and a bald spot!" Sirius grasped his chest dramatically, "You wouldn't." Lei lifted an eyebrow, "Try me." She sighed, "Peach is the wrong shade for Moony's facial scars. You know they never heal, so they're more towards a dark pink shade, maybe even close to red."
Klaus watched the verbal confrontation like a tennis match before focusing on the portrait Lei was painting. He stepped closer to observe the details as well as her palette, "What is it you're trying to accomplish?" Lei faced Klaus, "Remus was a werewolf like Fenrir. However, he never truly accepted Moony. On nights of the full moon, the times he was restrained, Moony would hurt himself. He would reinjure his face constantly and those scars never heal." Klaus moved to the palette and adjusted the color Lei was using, "Start with red, add a few drops of purple, and a drop of black for depth."
Klaus picked up the paint brush but Lei stopped him. He jolted at the contact before Lei let go to explain, "There is an incantation with each brush stroke." She smiled at him, "Or I would let you finish Moony's portrait." Klaus handed over the paint brush, and moved out of the way. He watched Lei whisper in Latin as carefully dragged the paint brush over Moony's face to fill in his scars with the now perfect color. He took the time to admire other paintings in the studio. One of which caught his attention. The painting depicted a dark room with only one beam of light. The beam of light shines over an archway that has a creature's face partially exposed but the rest of the body is in the shadows. Laying in front of the creature is a beautiful sword with a large ruby embedded in the hilt.
"What's this piece called?" Klaus asked Lei. She put down her brush after the final stroke and stood next to him. Lei gave a sad smile, "Nery.* She was a guardian belonging to Salazar Slytherin. Nery was over a thousand years old when she was killed. Salazar raised her to guard Hogwarts from intruders. She was over 50 feet in length, poisonous fangs with no antidote, and those who made eye contact were turned to stone. Indirect eye contact caused petrification which was reversible. Her death was unnecessary but unavoidable." The sad tone of Lei's voice confused Klaus, "What happened? Her death seems to affect you?"
Lei pulled the sleeve of her left arm up and removed the glamor, showing the scar from Nery's fang, "I was the one who killed her. She was being controlled by a dark wizard to attack. Nery had no choice but to obey." Klaus gently grasped Lei's arm and rubbed his thumb over the scar, "I thought you said there was no antidote?" Lei smiled after she shuddered from the goosebumps, "There's not. A Phoenix by the name of Fawkes shed tears into the wound, neutralizing the poison."
Klaus released Lei's arm, moving to see Moony's finished portrait. Lei moved to stand next to him, "Now, the hard part." Klaus was going to question what she meant by that but Lei brought her wand from her holster and took a deep breath. He could see she was hesitant. Sirius' voice cut through the silence, "You know he doesn't blame you. Remus knew what he was getting into." Before anything else was said Damon came into the studio, "I know you're not waking Moony without me?" Damon stood next to Lei and Klaus, the young vampire could feel the tension and sensed Lei's sadness. "Padfoot is right. It was a war, sweetheart." Damon hugged Lei and kissed her temple, "Now, why don't you do your thing so Sirius can stop being a diva."
"Hey! I'm not a diva," Sirius pouted. Lei gave a watery chuckle, "No, you're a prima donna." Sirius continued to pout while hiding a smile as Lei laughed. Leilani turned her full attention on Remus' portrait and recited the final incantation. A heavily accented voice resonated throughout the studio, "Little Alula." Lei let her tears fall, "Moony." Remus opened his mouth to say something when he was tackled, "MOONY!" "Oof! Get off me you big baby," Remus laughed at his best friend and brother in all but blood. Klaus, Damon, and Lei laughed along with Remus. Lei used her wand to levitate Remus' portrait to hang next to Sirius'.
Maddox was checking on the ritual site when he felt the magic of an unknown witch, so he left before whoever noticed him. He called Klaus from his car on the way back to their place, "Klaus. The ritual site has been tampered with." Klaus and Damon were sitting with Fenrir discussing the differences in their wolves when Maddox called. Klaus sat up straighter, "I thought you put up a barrier so it wouldn't be disturbed?" Maddox huffed, "I did. They broke through it. I didn't stick around to see if there was only one witch or multiple." Klaus pinched the bridge of his nose, "Just head back to the apartment for now. We have a couple of days before the full moon."
Klaus hung up his phone and set it down harshly on the side table. Fenrir slapped his thighs as he stood, "Well, let's check the map." Damon and Klaus stood up and followed, "Map?" "They created a map of the whole town. Some of us helped draw it and then they spelled it to show every single person in town. Whether we know them or not." They stopped at the large dining table where the map now sat unfolded but was blank. Fenrir pulled his wand and said, "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good." Klaus watched in awe as the whole town was revealed. He pointed to the area where the ritual was to take place, "Those seven people do not belong there."
Of course, Lei was curious about why Fenrir wanted the map. She came into the room with Fred and George, "They're all witches. Red for vampire, blue for werewolf, black for human, and green for witch. And now the ritual site is flickering. They're trying to cloak themselves." Lei waved her hand over the map and white wispy lines that seemed to flow like streams covered the map. She pointed at a location where the streams created an intersection. "The ritual site would be better in this location. It is an intersection of Ley Lines. They are closer to the surface during a new moon and the full moon. Was there anything special about the original site?"
Damon cleared his throat, "It was the site of witches being burnt at the stake." "So, the area has a lot of power from ancestral magic?" Lei asked and both Klaus and Damon nodded their heads. "Then the ritual should definitely be moved. One, so the ancestors can't intervene. Two, Ley Lines have more power since it is untapped pure magic." George made a suggestion, "Maybe have one of your witches go to the original site as a decoy. So, these witches don't realize the site moved. We'll put a warded shield around the real site, as well as the area designated for your run. The Elk herd is in that area also. We herded them from the North; more game to hunt since there will be a few of us running with you." Fred jumped in, "And the wards will keep humans out of the area. Once the barrier shield is up, nobody can come in or out until it is taken down."
Klaus left for his apartment shortly after the plan to move the ritual site was put in place. He was overwhelmed by how much these people, strangers to him, were willing to do to help him. Klaus wasn't sure if he liked the feeling or not. When he stepped inside the apartment, "Maddox. We're moving the ritual site. Leilani has a better location that has not been tampered with and has stronger magic." "Stronger magic?" Maddox was confused. Klaus plopped down onto the sofa, "Ley Lines. Untapped, pure magic beneath the ground that rises closer to the surface during a full moon. Everything is set. Even the hunting game. Lei thought of everything." Klaus recapped everything and it was decided Jonas and Luka would be the decoys. The Martin witches have outlived their usefulness.
Elijah, Hermione, Maddox, and Bill had worked out the area where the warding stones would be buried the day of the ritual. The wards were explained by Hermione as they were set, "The final ward will be activated once those participating are inside. Muggles that come close to the wards would have a feeling of confusion and turn around. And those that get too close, like witches, would suffer fatal injuries if they try to pass through the wards." Elijah held a few of the stones as Hermione dug the holes, "So, if I was outside the barrier and tried to get in…" Hermione stood and brushed the dirt from her hands, "You'd either be electrocuted or set on fire." "That is brilliant," Elijah exclaimed.
John Gilbert should have stayed inside. He heard a rapid, panicked knock on the front door. He rushed to answer the door, thinking someone was hurt or in trouble. When John opened the door and stepped out, he didn't see anyone and realized too late that it must've been a vampire before he was whooshed away. John was so disorientated from traveling that fast so suddenly he didn't react fast enough to fight the vampire blood being shoved down his throat. Then everything goes dark. Isobel had disappeared earlier in the week, leaving Elena by herself.
Elena had heard the knocking and went to see what was going on. She didn't even fully step out of her house before being swooped up and carried to the ritual site. When she was dropped into the flaming circle, she was shocked to see who was carrying her, "Stefan! What are you doing?!" The Ripper shrugged, "I'm helping my friend." Elena pushed the tears hoping for sympathy, "But…But, you love me." Stefan laughed in her face, "No, I didn't. My feelings for you weren't real. So stop with the crocodile tears." The flames surrounding Elena became higher when she tried to leave. She looked up and saw Stefan had left the ritual site.
Jonas and Luka had brought the unconscious werewolf they had captured a while back to his circle in the ritual site. The werewolf was to halt his shift for the full moon. He would regain consciousness during the ritual in a few hours. In the meantime, the Martin witches packed their belongings so they could run after they set up the decoy site. They were not stupid. The both of them knew they would end up dead if they didn't leave tonight. The Martins had enough of the drama and were going to live off-grid from now on.
As the moon rose, John sat up with a gasp and a burning in the back of his throat. He knew what that meant; he was in transition. John looked down at his hand and noticed his ring was missing. Maddox approached John's circle with a blood bag, "Hungry John?" Maddox punctured the bag, letting some of the blood drip onto the ground. The scent of the blood had John's fangs descending from his gums. John followed Maddox's hand as he lifted the blood bag to toss it into the circle. And he couldn't help himself, John drained the blood bag completing his transition. John looked to the other circles and saw a werewolf lying on the ground writhing in pain, and his daughter, "Elena!" She had been knocked out by Maddox because she annoyed him. He will wake her before the ritual begins.
Klaus, Mason, Fenrir, Leilani, the twins, Elijah, and Damon were inside the wards while Hermione, Bill, and Narcissa were on the outside. It was time to activate the final wards. "Protego Maxima. Step away from the barrier if you don't want to die, Repello Inimicum," Bill cast the final wards and activated them all. Narcissa and Elijah held eye contact as the others left, "We will lift the wards when we receive a Patronus. Be careful tonight." Elijah actually smiled instead of smirked, "Of course, Narcissa." Before he turned away, he asked, "Would you accompany me to dinner sometime?" Narcissa smiled, "I would love to, Elijah." They parted ways until everything was over.
By the time everyone made it to the ritual site, it was time to begin. Klaus stood next to Maddox and handed him the Moonstone. Maddox turns to Klaus, "You remember what to do?" The Hybrid nodded, "I remember." Maddox dropped the Moonstone in the brass bowl and started chanting to destroy it. Maddox nodded to Klaus and lowered the flames around the werewolf. The werewolf was in too much pain to stand, let alone fight back as Klaus tore his heart out. He squeezed every last drop of blood from the werewolf's heart into the bowl, "Does this mean it's working?" "It's working," Maddox says then continues to chant the next part. Klaus smirks as he stands in front of John, who just hisses at him. Fenrir anticipated an attack from John so he cast, "Colloshoo." Sticking John in place. Klaus staked John then dragged his body closer to the altar.
Finally, Klaus stood in front of Elena's circle. She was angry and crying. She had woken up in time to see her father being staked. Elena glared at the smug Hybrid, "You monster." Klaus just shrugged. Maddox lowered the flames of her circle. Klaus grabbed Elena around the waist so she couldn't get away as he bit into her neck and started to consume her blood. As Elena's heart slowed to the point of almost stopping, Klaus felt his bone start to break. He not so gently dropped the unconscious, pale but still breathing Doppelganger. Maddox had set up a spot for himself and the Doppelganger to stay safe until the barrier lifted.
Fenrir and Mason had moved away from the ritual site to prepare for their shift. The two of them were joined by a massive black werewolf, Shadow, Mischief and Chaos (the twins were foxes) with Elijah and Damon keeping their distance. Shadow shifted back to Lei, "Elijah. You met Fenrir, and now meet Greyback." She shifted back as Greyback moved closer to Elijah and stood at his full height. Elijah's eyes widened before he masked his shock.
A growl from Klaus was heard as the newly uncursed Hybrid moved to protect his brother. Greyback snarled as he backed away. Klaus threw his head toward the sky and howled. Mason, Greyback, Shadow, and the foxes joined in. Then the group took off together. Klaus is in the lead with Greyback and Shadow on either side of him. His tongue hung out the side of his mouth as he ran, he felt happy to be running as a wolf and not alone. The pounding of hooves drew the pack towards the herd of Elk trotting through the area. Klaus' instincts kicked in as he took down a massive male Elk. Greyback had taken his own down. The rest of the pack sat off to the side and waited their turn to eat their share of the kills.
A few hours before the sun rose, Elena had groggily sat up. She saw she was with Maddox, who was asleep so she took the chance to run. She had no clue which way she was running but she knew she needed to get away. Elena felt dizzy and disorientated from the blood loss, she didn't notice she ran right to the pack. Mason, who was still trying to get a grip on his wolf, bolted for the Doppelganger. Both Damon and Greyback had seen this. What happened next was so fast nobody could stop it. Mason had almost reached Elena when Damon shoved him away. Greyback was going to grip Mason by the scruff in his jaws but he unfortunately bit Damon instead. Damon screamed in pain as Greyback's jaws crushed his left shoulder; his venom injected into Damon's body.
Leilani, and the twins shifted back to take control of the situation. Greyback released Damon and went after Mason. Damon laid on the ground holding his bleeding, crushed shoulder. He was shaking, and sweating from the venom. Elijah held Elena in place so she wouldn't run. Klaus had come closer when he heard Damon yell. The Hybrid was whining when he smelt Damon's blood. Fred and George had brought supplies to patch up anyone who got hurt after the ritual. Leilani helped the twins patch Damon up enough to transport him home. Lei stood and cast her Patronus, "Need to lower the wards. Damon was bitten by Greyback." Her Patronus quickly moved toward the house.
The wand wielders felt the wards drop. Lei turned to Elijah, "We'll take her with us." Elena struggled against Elijah, "No way. I'm not going anywhere with you freaks." Lei signaled for Elijah to let go and shot a spell at her, "Stupefy." Fred, George, Lei, and two levitating unconscious people rushed out of the warded area. Fred and George sent Elena home. Lei took Damon to his home where he would be comfortable. Stefan was by his brother's side in an instant, "What happened?" Lei sighed, "Greyback bit him."
Tears welled up in Stefan's eyes, "Is he going to die?" "No. Greyback's type of werewolf is different from Mason and Klaus. Mason and Klaus' type of werewolf is genetic, they're born werewolves. Greyback's type is spread through their venom. Like a virus." Lei worked to clean the wound, rebandage it, and reposition Damon into a comfortable position. "So, what is going to happen?" Stefan sat in a chair right next to Damon's bed. "It depends on Damon. If he tries to fight it, he will die. If he lets it happen, then he'll survive and possibly come out of this different." Lei waved her wand, casting a few diagnostic spells. "Different, how?" Stefan frowned even more in worry. "Either completely transition into a werewolf and no longer be a vampire or possibly a hybrid. All I do know, the next few days are going to be long," Lei looked at Stefan.
She could see he was getting angry, "Don't get angry with Greyback. It was an accident. Elena had run into the pack and Mason was going to attack her. Both Damon and Greyback were trying to stop Mason. Damon shoved Mason away from Elena at the same time Greyback was going to grab Mason by the scruff like a pup but bit Damon instead." Stefan exhaled harshly, "Elena. Should've known. She has been a thorn in everyone's side." Lei wiped away the sweat from Damon's forehead, "I'll stay here with him. And I'm sure Fenrir will be here later. We'll help Damon get through this. Winky!"
A small 'pop' came from behind Lei, "Yous called? Oh, Master Damon." Lei smiled briefly at the title, "Winky, please have Bill and Draco bring pain potions, dreamless sleep, and Dittany." Winky bowed before she 'popped' home. An hour later, Draco and Bill had arrived and were treating Damon. They each decided to take turns caring for the sarcastic vampire, knowing if he survives Damon is going to be different.
Klaus, Mason, and Greyback ran until the sun came up then shifted back. Klaus was too concerned for Damon to continue to run. His wolf wanted nothing more than to be at Damon's side. Fenrir went home to shower, then he too, was going to the Salvatore Boarding House and help care for Damon. Fenrir sat vigilantly beside Damon's bed, "I'm so sorry. We'll get you through this. My father had bitten vampires before, all of which survived. I don't know how Lycanthropy affected them, I just know they survived. So, I know you'll get through this." Fenrir continued to reassure an unconscious Damon while reassuring himself.
Lei and Klaus came into Damon's room, quietly clawed onto either side of Damon and just laid with him. Draco had cast a spell that is used on comatose patients to eliminate waste, just in case. Bill set the potions Lei asked for next to Damon's bed and a parchment with a set schedule for each one. Klaus watched everything, and listened. He knew Damon will pull through; the young vampire is strong and stubborn. Klaus told Elijah he will retrieve their siblings after Damon wakes up. Elijah wanted to argue but he could see the genuine concern in his brother's eyes and agreed to wait a few more days.
AN: Sorry to end on a sorta cliffhanger. Next chapter is close to being done. The Mikaelson family is reunited, as well as the survivors from the Wizarding World coming to this dimension. Thank you to those that have stuck by this story. *Nery is pronounced Near-y.
