Goldenflower was about halfway through the story of the beginning of the clans when she realized the four kits she cares for were fast asleep. She watched with caring eyes as the four kits twitched in their sleep. The two newcomers were bright little things; she knew that, with the right training, they would be amazing warriors for the clan. Goldenflower purred with contentment as she layed her head down on the nest, falling asleep herself.

Firekit yawned and stretched before standing up. He glanced over at Fawnkit, who was still fast asleep, and then looked left toward his two new siblings. He'd guess that's what they were now; their mother was taking care of him and Fawnkit after all.

Firekit looked back at Fawnkit and pounced on her, scaring her awake. "AH!" Fawnkit squealed as she jumped up, startled. Firekit tried to contain his laughter but failed miserably; he let out a giggle, "Haha! Got you!" Fawnkit looked at Firekit with a look of betrayal. "Well, I'm gonna get you back!" She meowed as she ran towards her brother, jumping on him. They tussled for a bit before Goldenflower spoke up, "Firekit and Fawnkit, please quiet down; you're going to wake up the other kits." The she meowed softly. The two kits stopped their tussling and looked to Goldenflower. "Okay, Goldenflower," they mewed in unison. "Do you think we can go play outside the nursery?" Fawnkit asked as she stood back up from under Firekit.

Goldenflower thought for a moment before deciding on her answer. "Yes, you may," she meowed. "Just be sure not to bother any of the warriors, and remember to be quiet." She instructed; the two kits swiftly nodded in agreement before squeaking a quick "Ok!" They then quickly skittered out of the nursery with obvious excitement.

As soon as they got out of the nursery, Fawnkit jumped on top of her brother and the two littermates started their tussling once again. Firekit broke free from under Fawnkit and skittered away, with Fawnkit chasing him not far behind. "I'm gonna get you!" Fawnkit squealed before accidentally running into a white-furred Tom while trying to take a shortcut. "Oof," she looked up at the warrior and pinned her ears back in embarrassment. "Sorry!" she squeaked.

The warrior let out a small giggle. "It's alright little one," the tom said, pausing. "Why are you outside the nursery?" the tom questioned. "Aren't you supposed to be with Goldenflower right now? It's quite early." Fawnkit's ears perked up. "Me and Firekit woke up early and Goldenflower told us that we can play outside the nursery as long as we are quiet and don't bother any of the warriors!" The kit mewed

"Ah, alright then. And before you go, I might as well tell you my name; I'm Whitestorm. It's nice to finally properly meet you, Fawnkit." The tom purred. Fawnkit nodded her head. "It's nice to meet you too!" The kit squeaked before bolting off in the direction of her brother But when Fawnkit reached Firekit, he was in a group of other cats, and he was telling a story. "-So Talltail leaps onto the dog's shoulders, ripping into its flesh, the dog yelps in pain, and the two cats start to fight side by side! Matching each other move for move-" he paused when he noticed his sister running towards him, when the she stopped Firekit spoke "Oh hey Fawnkit! I was just telling Rosetail, Thrushpelt, Lionheart, Runningwind and Robinwing about the stories dad would always tell us about!" The tom chirped as the crowd looked toward both littermates. Fawnkit looked at her brother and purred "That's great! Jake's stories are the best!" The she-kit mewed.

Firekit nodded. "Alright, let's continue." He meowed excitedly and looked back at the crowd he had gathered as he continued his storytelling. "And they were able to chase the dog away! After the battle was over, Talltail asked Jake if he was okay. The tom told him that the dog couldn't get a bite in and thanked Talltail for saving him!" Fawnkit thought for a bit before she looked to her brother. "I think I'm going to go try and talk to some other cats in camp; have fun, Firekit!" She meowed as she started to trot away, Firekit gave her a sound of acknowledgement as she trotted off, leaving him to continue the story.

Fawnkit was trotting through camp when a dark gray tabby tom got in her way. "Now what do we have here? One of the little kittypet kits all on her own?" The tom snickered. Fawnkit's fur stood up on end and her ears were pinned back. She hissed at him. "What's your problem?" The tom let out a small laugh. "What's my problem? My problem is you and your brother being in the clan. Bluestar should've never let you join." The tom hissed. Fawnkit looked at the dark grey tom and huffed, "Well we're here now, you better get used to it because we aren't leaving," she hissed before walking away. The tom let out a small growl but allowed the she-kit to go.

'Well, he's definitely a jerk,' Fawnkit thought to herself as she trotted away. She thought back to yesterday, the day when she and Firekit became Clan cats, and remembered something; she paused. 'I forgot to ask if we could say goodbye to our family!' Fawnkit thought urgently. As she ran back to Firekit, she found him, but he wasn't telling the story anymore - instead, he was talking to some new cats that Fawnkit didn't recognize from the storytime crowd.

When Firekit noticed Fawnkit, he called her over. "Hey Fawnkit! Come here! I want you to meet Mousefur, Sparrowpelt, Smallear, Patchpelt, One-eye, and Dappletail! You've already met Rosetail." The Fire-colored tom pointed his tail toward the cats as he called out their names. "Everyone but Mousefur here are the elders, but Mousefur is the daughter of One-eye and Sparrowpelt!" The tom chirped.

"Your brother was speaking very highly of you, Fawnkit." One-eye meowed with amusement. Fawnkit looked over at One-eye. "He was?" She mewed. The elder nodded her head. "Indeed he was," Fawnkit looked to her brother who was currently looking at his feet, embarrassed. "Awee, that's sweet of you, Firekit, but we need to talk about something." Fawnkit sighed and just started walking away. "About what?" Firekit mewed confused, "Just come on." The she-kit mewed as Firekit followed closely behind. "Seeya later, guys." Firekit mewed, "Seeya later, Fluff butt!". Fawnkit heard Mousefur say. "Seeya later, Mousebrain!" He retorted as they started to get further away. Fawnkit could hear Mousefur say, "Oh, that little..." before she got too far away to hear the rest.

Fawnkit looked fondly at her brother. "It seems that you've been quite the social butterfly," the she-kit purred teasingly. Firekit huffed. "Well, so far everyone has been pretty nice, except for a select few, but they'll get used to us eventually!" Firekit meowed. "And honestly, who cares if a few cats here don't like us! We both know we're gonna become great warriors!" The tom chirped. Fawnkit looked to her brother and nodded. "Ya, we're gonna be the best warriors they'll ever see! But first, we have to make sure Jake, Nutmeg, and our littermates know we're safe." Fawnkit mewed.

Firekit pricked his ears. "Oh yeah! Let's go tell Bluestar!" The young tom meowed excitedly as he ran over to the leader's den. Fawnkit stared in surprise before quickly running to catch up. "Wait for me!" she squeaked as she tried to catch up to her brother. When Fawnkit finally reached her brother, they were already at the leader's den. As the two entered, they saw Bluestar sitting in her nest, her head perked up at the two kits. "Do you two need anything?" Bluestar asked with her usual indifferent expression. The two kits nodded in unison, but it was Fawnkit who spoke first. "Me and Firekit want to let our Kittypet family know that we're okay and that we joined a clan!" Fawnkit chirped before Firekit quickly piped in "Ya! Just to let them know we aren't dead and that we're safe!".

Bluestar thought for a moment before nodding. "You won't be going back to stay, yes?" She asked with a slight tilt of her head. Both kits nodded and said in unison "Yes!" The leader paused in thought. "Alright," she meowed. "You may say goodbye. Goldenflower will come with you, so your Kittypet family will know who will be taking care of you for the rest of your kithood; I expect you three to be back when the sun is at its highest. I will come with you to talk to Goldenflower about this." Both kits nodded in agreement before walking out of the den with Bluestar not far behind.

Once they reached the nursery and went inside, the two kits stopped in front of Goldenflower while Bluestar explained to her about the plans the three had made. "I want you to take them to their Kittypet family to say goodbye, so the Kittypets don't think the two are dead," the blue-gray she-cat said. "Do you think you can do that, Goldenflower?" The blue-gray she-cat asked as Goldenflower stood up and nodded "Yes, I can do that but first-" the she-cat paused before calling to another Queen "Hey Robinwing?" The she-cat meowed looking at a Chocolate Tortoiseshell she-cat who had two kits who were a couple moons older than Fawnkit and Firekit. Robinwing's ears perked up as she looked to Goldenflower "Yes Goldenflower?" Goldenflower looked down at her two kits then back to Robinwing and asked "Do you think you can take care of Swiftkit and Lynxkit while I'm gone?" the other She nodded, "Of course I can, I'm sure Ravenkit and Dustkit would love the company" the she-cat purred, Goldenflower gave Robinwing a slight bow of her head before looking too the two ex-kittypet kits "Alright, come now," Goldenflower purred as she left the nursery, guiding the two kits with her tail.

As the three left camp, Firekit looked at Goldenflower and asked, "Can you carry me? My legs are tired." Fawnkit huffed at him. "Well, that's what happens when you run for StarClan knows how long." She meowed teasingly. Firekit looked at the she-kit with an offended look on his face, as he was being teased. Goldenflower let out a small giggle at the kits antics; she found them quite amusing.

Alright, you two, let's keep going, and yes, Firekit, I will carry you." Goldenflower purred as she picked Firekit up and continued to guide Fawnkit with her tail. When they finally reached the Twoleg place, Jake was jumping off the fence with a relieved look on his face. "Thank the stars you two are okay! I thought you were goners!" The tom meowed worriedly as Firekit was set down. The two kits flattened their ears as they heard their father talking. Firekit sighed. "I'm sorry we scared you; we just found ThunderClan and joined when we realized we could."

Jake's eyes shot open. "You joined a clan?!" he yelled with shock in his eyes. The two kits nodded. "Mhm, it's amazing! Almost everyone is pretty nice!" Firekit mewed. Jake paused before hopping back over the fence and calling Nutmeg over. "Nutmeg! Nutmeg! Rusty and Princess are okay! They joined a clan! They're outside!" Jake meowed relieved, and they could hear Nutmeg say, "A what?!" before quickly running outside and jumping the fence. Jake followed closely behind. "Oh my gosh, your okay!" Nutmeg purred as she nuzzled the two kits and gave them both a quick bath. "I-I'm so glad you two are okay," the she-cat purred. "And what is this I hear about you joining a clan?!" she screeched.

The two kits looked at each other before looking back at their mother. "Well, we went to explore the forest to see if Dad's stories were real and they are! ThunderClan is real and it's amazing there! I love it!" Firekit mewed as Nutmeg looked back and forth at the two kits and sighed. "You two have always been the most adventurous - you definitely inherited that from your father." She meowed with a laugh as Jake jumped off the fence to sit next to her with amusement in his eyes at her comment.

She looked at them with soft eyes. "If being in a clan is what you truly want, who am I to keep you away from it?" She purred. "But that doesn't mean I'm not upset at you for running off into the dangerous woods all alone! I thought you two were dead!" The she-cat meowed with disappointment. The two kits bowed their heads. "We're sorry, Nutmeg," the two kits said in unison. Jake sighed before he looked up at Goldenflower. "Are you a ThunderClan cat?" The tom asked, and Goldenflower nodded. "Indeed I am, I am currently a queen of ThunderClan. I have been taking care of your two kits ever since they have joined the clan." The Golden she-cat bowed her head in respect and when she raisedher head she looked to the sky, she looked down at the two kits then back at the two parents "We must be going now as our leader wants us back when the sun is at its highest point so we'll have to leave now in orderto get back in time" she meowed.

Nutmeg nodded to Goldenflower "Alright" she paused looked down her kits "Be good ok? And be the best warriors you can" she purred, the two kits nodded "Ok! But- before we go we want to tell you our new names" Fawnkit mewed as she looked at her brother then back to her parents "My name is Fawnkit now!" Fawnkit's chirped and Firekit piped up with excitement. "And mine is Firekit!". Nutmeg and Jake looked at the two and purred "Very nice names" Jake's purred, Nutmeg nodded "Indeed, they suit you both perfectly" she purred in agreement.

Goldenflower looked at the two kits and looked up at the sky; the two littermates quickly got the message. "Okay, we have to leave now, bye bye! Tell our littermates we're okay! We'll see you again sometime!" Firekit squeaked as Goldenflower guided them back to ThunderClan. Jake and Nutmeg waved goodbye and wishing them luck. When the three finally made it back to camp, they went into the nursery. Swiftkit and Lynxkit ran over to welcome them back, but both Firekit and Fawnkit were way too tired and quickly slumped into Goldenflower's nest, falling asleep. Goldenflower curled around them, while Lynxkit and Swiftkit, also tired from their day of play, laid down next to them and soon drifted off to sleep as well.
