Chapter 24

Buns in the Oven

Heidi lay in bed, listening to the laughter of Carlos, Stephanie and Diesel, as they played outside in the first snowfall of the season. She would be outside with them, enjoying the snow herself but she was dealing with nausea and just wanted a lay down. She gently pulled down the blankets and pulled up her thick shirt to rub her bare abdomen, a smile on her face.

Pregnant, she was carrying Diesel's child. She couldn't believe it! When the doctor told her she most likely conceived around the end of August, she thought about her first time with the man. He knocked her up while he took her virginity, the smug man!

Heidi looked down at her flat belly, she was almost four months, right? Why was her belly still flat. The doctor had snorted and said, every pregnant woman shows differently. In fact she had one woman come in, at 9 months, flat as a board and gave birth to twins. Now that she looked at her belly, it wasn't as flat as it used to be, maybe she would be showing soon too.

She hadn't told Diesel or the children yet, but she knew they would be so excited, when they found out. She didn't want to tell them in a generic way, like during dinner. She wanted to do something dumb and cheesy. Like go out and buy stupid matching shirts or put some buns in the oven, or something stupid. Illogical, she knew that, but she wanted to be illogical, just to see her family's reactions.

For now, she just wanted this nausea to go away. She took some of the medicine her doctor gave her and lean back against the headboard, sipping mint tea, with a sigh. When she felt her nausea and headache subside, she finished her mint tea and sighed, wiping her mouth, before she got out of the bed and walked over to the window and watching her children throw snowballs at Diesel, who yelled out as the children jumped on him and smothered in him snow.

Heidi chuckled and then walked out the bedroom and then downstairs to the living room, letting out a sigh at the sight of pretty much Christmas had thrown up in her orderly living room. The kids look as though they used waaay too much garland and Diesel had gotten a Christmas tree that waaaay too tall. Heidi looked at the stockings hanging on the fireplace and walked over to the hanging stockings and placed several euros in the children's stockings. Yes, they were most likely spoiling the children rotten but…it would be fine.

"Mami! Mami! We're coooold!" Heidi looked up from her work, and made her way into the kitchen, where she found Stephanie and Carlos stripping on the towel that was placed on the floor. Heidi looked over to Diesel, who was shivering and stripping down as well.

"Sounds like you need a shower and something warm to eat and drink," Heidi said as she walked past the trio and over to the simmering pan that held their lunch, "Why don't you three get washed up and I'll have soup and warm tea for you."

"Thank you Mommy," The three chirped and then they were running up the stairs to get washed up and ready for lunch.

How could see tell her little family about the new coming member? She pondered, as she poured warmed, sweeten tea in Stephanie and Carlos's favorite mugs and set the table for lunch. Going out to get shirts would too much and she sort of wanted to tell them now.

Heidi smiled brightly, as an idea came to her mind and she quickly got the things in order, just as her crew came back downstairs, freshly washed and in warm clothes. Heidi sat down at the table with Carlos and Stephanie and placed a hand on Diesel's arm saying, "Can you get the cake out the oven, please?"

"Cake? Well shit, alright!" Diesel said going over to the oven and opening it. There was a moment of silence, with Stephanie and Carlos eating their soup before Diesel walked over to the woman saying, "Heidi, there's only a bun in the oven."

"Is there?" Heidi asked, looking over to the man, a mischievous smile on her face, "That's strange."

"Why is there a bun in the oven? Where's the cake, why do we have a bun-" Diesel stopped short and then looked at Heidi, with wide eyes and then he asked, "Heidi…bun in the oven…bun in the oven…" he looked at Heidi's hand, which was on her middle and a smile broke out on his face, "Y-you're pregnant?"

"Mhmm," Heidi said and Diesel was stumbling over to Heidi and lifting her up and hugging her, spinning her around as he did, "Diesel!"

"Yes, yes!" Diesel whooped, making Stephanie and Carlos giggle and laugh, "Carlos, Stephanie, you're going to be older siblings!"

"We are?" Stephanie asked, her eyes rounding, "How, Mommy and Daddy?"

"I'm pregnant," Heidi said, as she was set on the ground, going over to the two children, "There's a baby in me, right now."

"Oh wow, Stephanie, our little brother is in Mami!" Carlos said, placing a hand on Heidi's belly, "We're gonna be the best big brother and sister ever!"

"No, that's our younger sister, Carlos!" Stephanie said, placing her hand on Heidi's stomach as well, "It's going to be a girl!"

Before the two could get into an argument on If Heidi was having a boy or girl, Diesel sat them back down at the table, saying, "Well, it doesn't matter, right, you two are going to be the best older siblings ever."

Stephanie and Carlos nodded their head and began to excitedly chat about what they could do with their little sibling. Diesel wrapped an arm around Heidi's waist and whispered in her ear, "Guess I better marry you quickly…"

Heidi turned to Diesel and kissed him, saying, "I guess you do, Mr. Diesel," sighing as Diesel ran a hand over her belly, "When do you want to get married?"

"After lunch, let's go to town and sign the papers," Diesel said, turning to Heidi, a smile on his face, "We can go out to eat for dinner afterwards."

Heidi returned the smile and nodded her head, saying, "Alright, Diesel, let's go and get married after lunch!"

After lunch, the two bundled Carlos and Stephanie up and used the SUV to head into town, to the local town center. They were wedded quickly, signing a few sheets of paper, with Diesel taking Heidi's last name. They spent the rest of the sunlight in town, with Christmas around the corner, in like two weeks, Heidi and Diesel finished doing some last minute gift shopping, hiding their toys and goods as boring things before they went to eat dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

Heidi and Diesel lay together in the bed, wrapped around one another, Heidi was in awe, she was married, for realsies, she was married! She was married to a wonderful man, that pesky Diesel, who yes, still had his moments in which she wanted to box his ears, but the good that he had outweighed that, unless he was being such a jerk.

Heidi lifted her hand to reveal the lovely wedding band on her finger, a solid platinum braided one with lovely amber diamonds weaved through it. Diesel had slipped it on her finger, as they were chatting with the children, during dinner. Heidi had looked down at the ring and then to Diesel, who was in a lively conversation with the children, his hand clasping hers. She had asked him what the ring was and he had given her a look of confusion and asked, "What ring, oh, the this one? I don't know where it came from but damn, does it look good on your hand, Kitten."

Stephanie, Carlos and Diesel shared knowing winks and she couldn't be too angry at her little minions. It was a wonderful ring and Diesel even had a matching ring on his own finger. The little imps had gone out ring shopping and hadn't even said a word to Heidi!

Heidi buried her nose in the crook of Diesel's shoulder and sighed, falling asleep with a peaceful smile. She felt as if everything was right in the world now…

(~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)

"To think that a wretched descendant of the Anatu dream weaver clan would be the one chosen to wield the power of the stones! Unbelievable, our line has held one of the stones for generations and not once it even sparks with power! But this wretched hairball appears, and the stones call out for her with such want that they control her dreams to get to her!"

"Tragic," Wulf depanned, watching the person before him pace angrily, muttering about nasty cats and unfair destinies, "Yet, how does it help with my desire for both Agent Evanston and the stones?"

"Easy, Wulf, it's so easy, I have the seventh stone, it will seek her out, but only in her dreams, if it's at ease," The person said turning to the sparkl-erm non sparkling vampire looking man, "However, should it be under duress, it will physically force that wretched being to it."

"So you're telling me, if we put the stone under what it deems to be danger, it will force Agent Evanston to it…ingenious," Wulf muttered to himself, before he looked at the person before him, "But what do you hope to gain from this, should you give up your seventh stone?"

"You'll have the disgusting hairball under your thumb, yes, I'm sure you have something planned for her, because even if you kill her, the stones will fade along with her, I wish to use the power from her," The person, huffed, crossing their arms, growling low, "I will make everyone wish that they hadn't underestimated the Cornwall Clan!"

"Cats versus dogs," Wulf sighed, crossing a leg as he sat back on his regal throne, "But, I will amuse you, Hatchet, prepare a room for our soon to be guest, I will see to it that the trap will be laid out and escape proof, soon, I'll have all seven stones and Agent Evanston at my beck and call."

"Our beck and call," the person corrected and Wulf rolled his eyes and nodded off handedly.

"Our call, yes, yes," Wulf said, pinching his brow, he would rid of the mutt before him soon enough.

However, soon, he would have what he desired the most, power….and beauty!

You didn't think I forgot about Wulf, he's been busy scheming in secret (yes, I forgot about him! But the next few chapters, I won't!)
