The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 53
In the co urtroom the judge looked at both the prosecution and defense and said, "since both sides have rested it's time for closing arguments", she looked at the prosecution and said, "go ahead prosecutor". He stood up and said, "ladies and gentlemen of the jury Derek Morgan is a guilty man, he's guilty of murder in the first degree with special circumstances and the person he killed was supposedly the woman he loved".
Derek sat there balling his hands in fists, ohhhhh how he wanted to punch that creep just once but they sat there listening as he said, "the defense would want you to believe that after Derek killed Penelope that he couldn't remember because however supposedly killed her must have drugged him first to frame him".
He looked at the jury and said, "I don't believe that you ladies and gentlemen of the jury are that gullible to believe such testimony, they want you to believe a fantasy because the last thing that they want you to believe is that a decorated FBI agent was guilty of killing another FBI agent in cold blood".
As he looked around the room he said, "the evidence that I have presented to you is self explanatory, he's guilty of murder so therefore you must find him guilty of murder", he smiled at the jury and said, "thank you" and sat down". Cindy then looked at the defense table and watched as Mia got up and started pacing back and forth in front of the jury, she said, "ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the evidence that we have presented to you over the past two days proves that our client agent Derek Morgan is innocent".
The evidence that we've shown you also shows that whoever framed Derek, drugged him with four injections, two to the bend of his arm and two in his neck and he was so drugged for 72 hours that he didn't know what was real and what was a dream". As she paced back and forth she said, "was there a dead body on the scene, yes, did that body belong to an FBI agent?", "well allegedly so, did our client kill the person in the body bag, no, no he didn't"
Mia continued by saying, "Derek Morgan is innocent and with the evidence that was presented we've proved that so if you believe that we've proved his innocence you must vote not guilty", she smiled and said, "thank you" and walked back over and sat down beside Derek and looked up at the judge
Cindy gave the jury their instructions and sent them back to the jury room to deliberate, she then said, "this court stands in recess until the jury can reach a verdict", they all nodded their heads yes. The bailiff said, "all rise", everybody stood up and watched as the judge stood up and made her way back to her chambers, everything was over now, both sides were done and everything is left up to the jury to decide Derek's fate.
The guards cuffed Derek and led him out of the room, Hotch said, "I'm going to call Reid and see if their have been any changes", Mia nodded her head and said, "I'm going to go stay with Derek". Hotch said, "when I find out something I'll let you know", she nodded her head yes and then went out of the room the same direction that Derek was led out only moments before.
Shane, Reid and the other agents pull through the open gate, they park their SUV;s and make their way toward the front door, when they got close Reid pointed to half of the agents and said, "surround the house, they'll try to sneak out". The others ran toward the front door with Reid, he knocked several times and got no response and Shane said, "they're going to try to escape with Penelope, we've got to get in there".
Reid nodded his head and said, "stand back" and he did something that Reid had never done, not in all of his years of being an agent, he kicked in the front door and ran inside. Shane smiled and said, "impressive Reid" as he followed him inside where they split up and headed in different directions in an attempt to find Penelope.
As they continued through the house Reid and the others kept saying, "FBI" as they searched room by room, Shane was looking at the footage on his computer so he saw that Penelope was alone in what looked like the root cellar. They were then knocking on the walls to try to find a hidden room and after what felt like forever Shane said, "here Reid, here" as he pushed the door open and allowed Reid to run in first.
When they got inside Reid said, "Garcia, Garcia can you hear me?", he then heard the sweetest thing he'd ever heard, he heard Penelope say, "boy wonder" as she threw her arms around his neck and allowed the tears to fall as she broke down in her friends arms.
