Chapter 1.
I woke to a start, my hackles rising. "It's just me, spark," Katana mews softly.
"I was having a good dream as well," I sigh, dreary eyed.
"That's irrelevant. The sun has spoken,"
"What? What's happened?"
"We're moving,"
"But we've been here less than a week,"
"It doesn't matter, according to Sunteller."
"Which way are we moving?"
"East," she responds. "Now, hurry, Sunteller has called a meeting,"
rise to my paws and intwine my tail with Katana's as we walked out the den. Me and my mate sit next to the curious cats. "We will move east, where moors flourish and a river rushes. We must not question the final word of The Souls."
I exchange glances with Katana, and my sister's kit rushes to my paws. "Spark!" He squeals excitedly. "We're moving to where a river is!"
"Hush, River, this is important." I sit the kit down in front of me.
"We shall leave once everyone has eaten and had something to drink. Prey-Hunters, bring enough pieces of prey to feed each individual, and Cave-Guards help with herbs." The brown feline yowls, almost like it's a cue for us to start our duties. Adder, the lead prey-hunter, calls over all the prey hunters to go hunt. "I'll see you later," Katana purrs, rasping her tongue over my ear and the padding away. I rise to my paws and head over to Eel, the lead cave-guard, who is giving order.
"About time, Spark," the tom mews bitterly. "Sorry,"
"Anyways," Eel flicks his grey tail in dismissal. "Owl and Rain, help Sunteller with the travelling herbs. Me and Puddle will tend to Oak and carry Sunteller's herbs. and Spark tend to Meadow," I nod, exasperated.
"Cheer up," Puddle nudges me. I smile half heartedly and trot over to the kit-den.
"May the sun bless you," I purr stepping into the den. Meadow is preparing her kits for the journey. They eat their travel herbs in disgusting, pulling sour faces as they gulp down each bite.
"And you, Spark," Meadow purrs in response. "These kittens are so energetic," i rub my cheek against my sister's, and crouch down to the kits.
"Eat up, a soon to be to-be's need to be strong for their training." I mew to them.
"I hope your my trainer, Spark!"
"Sun willing, i hope so too young one." I glance at his brother, Hare. "Are you excited to be Sunteller's to-be?"
"I'm a little nervous," Hare mews quietly.
"I'm sure you'll do great," I chirp.
"All this was a bit sudden, don't you think?" Meadow mews.
"I guess. But in this case, our opinion doesn't seem to matter," Meadow looks down to her paws awkwardly. I flcik my ears back and scent Owl entering the den.
"Salutations!" He purrs. "I hope you ate all your herbs."
"I did Dad!" River chitters.
"Well done. We're leaving now, so eat some prey," He mews, rasping a tongue across his sons' heads.
I ate some prey hastily and Me and Katana met. "Okay, East we go," i purr, following the felines before me.
