Wela Volcano Park Trial (Part One)
The next morning, the group got out of bed and went to the cafeteria for breakfast. After they finished eating, they brushed their teeth and after that, they picked their Pokemon up. They exited the Pokemon Center and travelled north until they exited Royal Avenue and were soon walking up Route 7 on their way to Wela Volcano Park where the Eds, Sarah, and Jimmy intend to do the trial there and be one step closer to competing in the Alola League and the Junior Division.
"You think we're ready for the trial?" asked Ed.
"I hope so." said Edd.
"Don't worry, guys. We've trained our Pokemon real hard yesterday. I'm sure we'll do fine." said Eddy.
"I guess you're right, Eddy." said Edd. Just then, a little girl approached Sarah.
"Excuse me, but can I have a Pokemon battle with you?" asked the girl.
"Sure." said Sarah. Soon, she and the girl were facing each other, and they each pulled out a pokeball. "So how many Pokemon are we using?"
"We'll each use one." replied the girl. "Persian, go!" The girl throws a pokeball and releasing a light purple, catlike Pokemon with a blue crystal on its forehead. Edd takes out the Rotom Pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Persian, the Classy Cat Pokemon and the evolved form of Meowth. Its round face is a symbol of wealth. Persian that have bigger, plumper faces are considered more beautiful." said the Rotom Pokedex.
"Go, Blissey!" said Sarah, throwing Blissey's pokeball and releasing her. "Blissey, Sweet Kiss!" Blissey blows a kiss at Persian and releases a pink heart at it, hitting it. It begins stumbling around.
"Persian, what's wrong?" asked Persian's trainer.
"Sweet Kiss confuses the Pokemon it's used on." said Sarah.
"Fury Swipes!" said Persian's trainer. Persian fights through its confusion and leaps at Blissey while its claws glowed white.
"Defense Curl!" said Sarah. Blissey curls herself into a ball. Persian repeatedly claws at Blissey, but not doing much damage due to her increased defense.
"Echoed Voice!" said Sarah. Blissey releases soundwaves from her mouth and they hit Persian, damaging it.
"Use Bite!" said Persian's trainer. Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of Persian and it bites its front leg, hurting itself.
"Echoed Voice again!" said Sarah. Blissey releases a more powerful soundwave onto Persian, hitting it and knocking it out.
"Persian, no!" exclaimed Persian's trainer.
"We win!" said Sarah.
"You go, Sarah!" cheered Jimmy.
"Man, she's good." said Maxiley. Sarah, hearing Maxiley's comment, smiles in response. Persian's trainer returned Persian to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Persian." said Persian's trainer. She walks to Sarah and gives her pokedollars.
"You're a strong trainer." said Persian's trainer.
"You bet I am." said Sarah. Persian's trainer walks to the direction of Royal Avenue. The others walked over to Sarah.
"You did good, Sarah." said Ed.
"Thanks, big brother." replied Sarah. She returns Blissey to her pokeball and the group continued to travel up Route 7 until they reached Wela Volcano Park. "Well, there's no backing out now."
"I wasn't going to." said Eddy.
"Me, neither." said Jimmy. The group walked up a path that led to the volcano until they reached a cave. They entered it and walked through the cave until they reached the end of it. Upon exiting, they saw they reach the peak of the mountain. They see another path with a man and a woman standing on each side of it. The woman sees the group.
"Hello. Are you here for the Island Trial?" asked the woman.
"Yes, we are." replied Edd.
"Well, the Island Trial is taken place in the other end of this path here." said the man, pointing up the path.
"Only one trainer at a time may come up this path to do the trial." said the woman.
"Doesn't matter to us." said Sarah, stepping forward. "I'll go first."
"Very well. We'll wait here." said Edd. He gives Sarah the Rotom Pokedex. Sarah walks up the path until she reached a round platform. Standing in the middle of it was a dark-skinned young man with red and brown hair that resembled fire, wearing red and black shorts and sandals, but no shirt, and a necklace with feather decorations. He sees Sarah approaching.
"I am Kiawe. My Marowak and I are students of the ancient dances that have been passed down in Alola for generations." said the man, now identified as Kiawe. "Do you want to attempt the trial here?"
"You bet." said Sarah.
"Very well." said Kiawe. "This trial will be to test your powers of observation. There will be a dance, and then another. Your task will be to find the difference between the two. Let's begin." He turned towards appeared to be three bigger versions of Cubone, but with a long bone with green fire on each end of them, and black skin. Sarah points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Marowak Alola form, the Bone Keeper Pokemon and the evolved form of Cubone. When it beats opponents with its bone, the cursed flames spread to them. No amount of water will stop those flames from burning." said the Rotom Pokedex. The three Marowaks began dancing around in a circle until they stopped and did a pose with them holding their bones up high.
"Now for the second dance." said Kiawe. The Marowaks danced around again and did another pose. "Now which Marowak's pose looked different from the first one?" Sarah looked at the Marowaks and saw the middle one was holding its bone downward.
"The middle one." said Sarah.
"Correct." said Kiawe. The middle Marowak stepped forward and faces Sarah. She pulls a Dive Ball out of her pocket.
"You want to battle, huh? Alomomola, go!" said Sarah, throwing Alomomola's Dive Ball and releasing her. "Alomomola, Water Pulse!" Alomomola forms a blue ball of water in front of her mouth and launches it at Marowak, dealing super effective damage to it, knocking it out.
"Well done. Marowak was so pleased with your answer that it had to battle you" said Kiawe. The Marowak gets back up. "Now onward to the second dance." The Marowaks danced around until they stopped and posed. "Now for the second dance." They did a second dance and stopped. "Now what's different? Is it how they were standing, holding their bones, where they were standing, or the way they were smiling?" Sarah saw that how they were standing, holding their bones, and where they were standing looked the same.
"The way they were smiling?" said Sarah.
"Correct. Now you must battle this man in a Pokemon battle." said Kiawe, pointing at a man who stepped onto the platform. The man pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Go, Magmar!" said the man, throwing the pokeball and releasing a red and yellow, bipedal Pokemon with two yellow flames coming out the back of its head and a tail with fire on the end of it. Sarah points the Rotom Pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Magmar, the Spitfire Pokemon and the evolved form of Magby. The hotter the place, the better they feel. Magmar in Alola are said to be hardier than those in other areas." said the Rotom Pokedex. Sarah throws Alomomola's Dive Ball and releases her.
"Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" said Sarah. Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and flies towards Magmar with incredible speed and rams it, dealing super effective damage to it.
"Magmar, Clear Smog!" said Magmar's trainer. Magmar releases white smoke from its mouth, and it hits Alomomola, damaging her.
"Double Slap!" said Sarah. Alomomola leaps at Magmar and slaps it repeatedly with her fin, knocking it out.
"No way!" said Magmar's trainer.
"You did it, Alomomola!" said Sarah. Magmar's trainer returned Magmar to its pokeball and gives Sarah pokedollars. Kiawe walks to Sarah.
"Very good. Now for the final dance." said Kiawe. The three Marowaks danced around, twirling their bones and stopped, with two of them doing a pose with Magmortar's trainer, and a third looking like it was taking a picture of them. "And now for the second dance." The Marowaks did the same dance and pose, only they were joined by another Marowak. "Now what the difference?"
"That Marowak over there." said Sarah, pointing at the fourth Marowak.
"Correct. And this Marowak is the Totem Pokemon you have to beat." said Kiawe. The Marowak, revealed to the Totem Pokemon steps forward and faces Sarah. Sarah throws Alomomola's Dive Ball and releases her. The Totem Marowak was surrounded by an aura.
"Bring it on!" said Sarah. "Alomomola, Aqua Jet!" Alomomola becomes surrounded by water and flies at Marowak, ramming it and dealing super effective damage to it. The Totem Marowak leaps at Alomomola with an arm raised and chops her with its hand. (Brick Break) "Oh yeah?!" Kiawe was surprised by Sarah's aggressiveness. "Alomomola, Water Pulse!" Alomomola launches a blue ball of water at Marowak and hits it, dealing super effective to it. Marowak does a somersault and becomes surrounded by fire. (Flame Wheel) It rolls towards Alomomola and rams her, not doing much damage to her. She becomes surrounded by fire. "Alomomola's burned! That won't stop us!" Alomomola flinches in pain from her burn and loses a little stamina. "Alomomola, Water Pulse!" Alomomola launches another ball of blue water at Marokwak and hits it, dealing super effective damage to it and knocking it out. "Way to go, Alomomola!" Kiawe walks over to Sarah.
"Spectacular. Your observation skills saw the difference in the dances, and you defeated the Totem Marowak." said Kiawe. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a red Z-Crystal that had an image of a flame on it. "This Firinium-Z is yours. You've earned it." Sarah takes the Firinium-Z.
"Yes! The Firinium-Z is mine!" said Sarah.
"This is how you use the fire type Z-power." said Kiawe. He shows Sarah the pose needed to use the Firinium Z-Crystal. "By the way, do you have a Ride Pager?"
"Yeah, why?" asked Sarah.
"I would like to register Charizard into it." said Kiawe.
"What would that do for me?" asked Sarah.
"Charizard can fly you to places you've previously been to." replied Sarah.
"Whoa." said Sarah. She then hugs Alomomola. "You were incredible, Alomomola. I'm proud of you." Alomomola smiles in with the others, they were sitting around waiting. They hear footsteps and saw Sarah walking down the path. They walk over to her.
"How did you do?" asked Maxiley. Sarah holds out the Firinium-Z.
"This answer your question?" asked Sarah.
"Way to go, baby sister!" said Ed.
"Well done, Sarah." said Edd. The man near the path walks to the group.
"So, which one of you will be taking on the trial next?" asked the man. Jimmy quickly steps forward.
"I'll do it." said Jimmy.
"Very well." said the man. "Just head to the top of the mountain to begin your trial." Jimmy nods and begins heading up the path. When he reaches the peak of the mountain, he meets Kiawe who explains the trial to him, and begins. Much like Sarah did, he was able to spot the difference between the first set of dances. One of the Marowaks steps forward, brandishing its bone.
"So, you wanna battle?" asked Jimmy. He then pulls out his Wishiwashi's Dive Ball, and throws it, releasing him from it. Wishiwashi's Schooling ability activates, and a bunch of Wishiwashies form a giant fish around him. "Wishiwashi, use Water Gun!" Wishiwashi releases a large spray of water from his mouth, and it hits the Marowak, doing super effective damage. Marowak responds by striking Wishiwashi with its club. "Oh, yeah? Wishiwashi, use Brine!" Wishiwashi releases a large torrent of water from his mouth, and it hits the Marowak, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Well done." said Kiawe. "Now for the next set of dances." Jimmy observes them and spots the difference. The Magmar trainer comes out, and begins his battle with Jimmy, who once again decides to go with his Wishiwashi.
"Wishiwashi, use Water Gun." said Jimmy. Wishiwashi sprays the Magmar with a Water Gun attack, doing super effective damage.
"Magmar, use Ember!" said Magmar's trainer. Magmar releases bits of fire from its mouth, and they hit Wishiwashi, not doing much damage.
"Wishiwashi, use Brine!" said Jimmy. Wishiwashi releases another Brine attack, which hits Magmar, does super effective damage, and knocks it out.
"You're a tough little guy, aren't ya?" asked Magmar's trainer, before handing Jimmy some pokedollars and walking away.
"Now for the final set of dances." said Kiawe. "Are you ready?"
"Bring it on." said Jimmy with anticipation. He watches the last set of dances, and quickly spots the difference between the two, which prompts the Totem Marowak to step forward, and wield his club. Deciding that Wishiwashi has done enough for now, he chooses to let his Lycanroc battle. "Okay, Lycanroc; use Leer!" Lycanroc stares harshly at the Marowak, making it nervous, and lowering its defense. It responds by striking Lycanroc with its club, doing super effective damage. "Now use Rock Tomb!" Lycanroc launches a bunch of rocks, which pile on top of the Marowak, doing super effective damage, and lowering its speed. Marowak hits Lycanroc with its club again and does more super effective damage. Jimmy decides to end this quickly. "Lycanroc, use Accelerock!" Lycanroc's body becomes coated in a white aura, and he launches himself at Marowak with incredible speed, and slams into it, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Well done." said Kiawe. He then hands Jimmy a Firinium-Z crystal and shows him the poses to activate it. He also registers Charizard into Jimmy's Ride Pager. After that, Jimmy heads back down to the others.
"How did you do, Jimmy?" asked Edd. Jimmy smiles as he holds out his Firinium-Z crystal.
"Good job, Jimmy!" said Eddy. Everyone else congratulates him. The woman at the start of the path walks over to them.
"So, who will be attempting the trial next?" asked the woman. Ed quickly steps forward.
"Me!" said Ed.
"Very well. Head up to the top to begin your trial." said the woman. Ed then starts his trek up to the top of the mountain. Will he succeed in his trial?
