Shalour City Gym Battles (Part 2)
Kevin spent his time waiting for Korrina and Rolf to return going over what he saw during Jonny and Rolf's matches with Korrina and planning what Pokemon he was going to use in his gym battle. Soon, Rolf and Korrina return, with Rolf joining Nazz and Jonny on the balcony, while Korrina goes to where she was during her previous battles.
"So, are you ready for our gym battle, Kevin?" asked Korrina.
"Since I got here." replied Kevin. Korrina's grandfather steps to the center of the field.
"This is an official gym battle between Korrina, the gym leader and Kevin, the challenger." said Korrina's grandfather. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer with Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin!" Korrina and Kevin each pull out a pokeball.
"Mienfoo, come out!" said Korrina as she throws her Mienfoo's pokeball, releasing it.
"Vivillon, let's do this!" said Kevin as he throws Vivillon's pokeball, releasing her from it.
"Mienfoo, use Fake Out!" said Korrina. Mienfoo rushes towards Vivillon and claps its hands in front of her, startling her, and making her fall to the ground.
"Vivillon, use Supersonic!" said Kevin. Vivillon releases a high-pitched soundwave, causing Mienfoo to become confused.
"Mienfoo, use Double Slap!" said Korrina. Mienfoo fights through its confusion, and hits Vivillon with a barrage of slaps.
"Vivillon, use Psybeam!" said Kevin. Vivillon releases a beam of psychic energy which hits Mienfoo, doing super effective damage.
"Mienfoo, use Swift!" said Korrina. Mienfoo once again fights through its confusion and releases a barrage of stars at Vivillon, and knocking her out.
"Vivillon is unable to battle. Mienfoo is the winner." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Good work, Mienfoo!" said Korrina. Mienfoo nods in response. Kevin returns Vivillon to her pokeball.
"Sorry, Vivillon." said Kevin. "I'll step up your training when you're fully healed." He puts Vivillon's pokeball away and pulls out another one; he then throws it, releasing his Fletchinder. "Fletchinder, use Quick Attack!" Fletchinder flies at fast speed, and slams into Mienfoo's chest, making it fall to the ground.
"Quick, Mienfoo; use Force Palm!" said Korrina. Mienfoo rushes forward and thrusts its open palm into Fletchinder's chest, not doing a lot of damage.
"Fletchinder, use Peck!" said Kevin. Fletchinder jabs his beak into Mienfoo's chest, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Mienfoo is unable to battle. Fletchinder is the winner." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Way to go, Kevin!" cheered Nazz.
"Right on!" said Jonny. Korrina returns her Mienfoo to its pokeball.
"You were great, Mienfoo." said Korrina. She puts Mienfoo's pokeball away and pulls out another one. She throws it, releasing her Hawlucha.
"Fletchinder, use Quick Attack!" said Kevin. Fletchinder flies quickly at Hawlucha, and slams into its chest.
"Hawlucha, use Aerial Ace!" said Korrina. Hawlucha flies into a loop and rams itself headfirst into Fletchinder.
"Fletchinder, use Ember!" said Kevin. Fletchinder releases bits of fire from his wings which hit Hawlucha. Suddenly, bits of fire appear on Hawlucha's body.
"Looks like Hawlucha's feeling the burn... literally." said Nazz.
"That should weaken its attack power." said Kevin.
"Hawlucha, use Wing Attack!" said Korrina. Hawlucha leaps towards Fletchinder, and strikes him with its wing. Fletchinder was starting to become really exhausted, which gives Kevin an idea.
"Hurry, Fletchinder; use Flail!" said Kevin. Fletchinder starts flailing about wildly, striking Hawlucha hard, and sends it flying to the ground, unconscious.
"Hawlucha is unable to battle. Fletchinder is the winner." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Good thing Flail becomes stronger the more tired the Pokemon using it is." said Kevin.
"Keep it up, Kevin! Just one more to go!" said Nazz.
"Rolf is behind you all the way!" said Rolf.
"We all are!" said Jonny. Korrina returns her Hawlucha to its pokeball.
"You rest up, Hawlucha." said Korrina. She puts Hawlucha's pokeball away and pulls out her last one. She throws it, releasing her Machoke.
"Fletchinder, use Roost!" said Kevin. Fletchinder folds her wings around himself and starts healing.
"Machoke, use Low Sweep!" said Korrina. Machoke swings his leg at Fletchinder, hitting it, not doing a lot of damage, but lowering his speed.
"Fletchinder, use Razor Wind!" said Kevin. Fletchinder starts flapping his wings, gathering energy in them.
"Machoke, use Karate Chop!" said Korrina. Machoke swings his hand down onto Fletchinder's head. Suddenly, blades made of wind come out of Fletchinder's wings, and hit Machoke, landing a critical hit.
"Hurry and use Quick Attack, Fletchinder!" said Kevin. Fletchinder flies quickly at Machoke, and slams into his chest.
"Machoke, use Revenge!" said Korrina. A blast of orange energy explodes from Machoke, hitting Fletchinder, and knocking him out.
"Fletchinder is unable to battle. Machoke is the winner." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Great work, Machoke!" said Korrina. Machoke does a fist pump, and nods. Kevin returns his Fletchinder to his pokeball.
"You rocked, Fletchinder." said Kevin. He puts Fletchinder's pokeball away and pulls out his last one. He throws it, releasing his Ivysaur. "Ivysaur, use Sleep Powder!" Ivysaur releases blue pollen from the bud on his back, and it wafts all over Machoke's face. Machoke starts to get drowsy and falls asleep. A red aura covers Machoke.
"Looks like Machoke's Guts ability has activated." said Korrina.
"Yeah, but what good is it if Machoke can't attack?" asked Kevin with a smirk, making Korrina gasp.
"Very clever." said Rolf.
"Yeah." said Jonny.
"Ivysaur, use Growth!" said Kevin. Ivysaur starts gathering energy into himself, making him grow, and increasing his attack strengths.
"Machoke, wake up!" shouts Korrina; but Machoke remains asleep.
"Ivysaur, use Razor Leaf!" said Kevin. Ivysaur releases a barrage of leaves, which flies at Machoke and hits it, damaging it, and knocking it out.
"Machoke is unable to battle. Ivysaur is the winner. That means the winner of the match is the challenger, Kevin." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Awesome!" cheers Kevin.
"He did it!" shouts Nazz.
"Rolf is glad that Kevin won." said Rolf. Jonny, even though sad that Korrina lost, was glad Kevin won. Back on the field, Korrina returns Machoke to its pokeball.
"You battled well, Machoke." said Korrina. She then walks over to Kevin, and pulls a Rumble Badge, along with pokedollars out of her pocket. "You are quite the trainer."
"Thanks." said Kevin.
"In recognition of your victory, I present you with the Rumble Badge." said Korrina as she hands the Rumble Badge, along with the pokedollars, to Kevin.
"Rad." said Kevin. He holds up the Rumble Badge in triumph. "I won the Rumble Badge!" Korrina looks up at Nazz.
"Looks like it's your turn, Nazz." said Korrina.
"Yeah." said Nazz.
"I'll return once I get my Pokemon healed." said Korrina.
"Me, too." said Kevin. He and Korrina leave the gym to go the Pokemon Center, while Nazz goes to the battlefield, and waits to begin her battle.
Twenty minutes later, Korrina and Kevin return. Soon, Nazz and Korrina were facing each other across the arena while Kevin was with Jonny and Rolf on the balcony. Korrina's grandfather steps into the arena.
"This is an official gym battle between Korrina, the gym leader and Nazz, the challenger." said Korrina's grandfather. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer with Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin!" Korrina and Nazz each pull out a pokeball.
"Mienfoo, go!" said Korrina as she throws Mienfoo's pokeball and releases it.
"Farfetch'd, come out!" said Nazz, throwing Farfetch'd's pokeball and releasing him. "Farfetch'd, use Aerial Ace!" Farfetch'd flies towards Mienfoo while surrounded by white streaks of light surround him and rams Mienfoo, dealing super effective damage.
"Mienfoo, Force Palm!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps towards Farfetch'd and strikes him with its palm, knocking him back, but he lands on his feet. He becomes surrounded by yellow electricity.
"Oh man, Farfetch'd is paralyzed." said Nazz.
"Now, Mienfoo, Meditate!" said Korrina. Mienfoo closes its eyes, and it becomes surrounded by a blue aura.
"Farfetch'd, use Air Cutter!" said Nazz. Unfortunately, paralysis kicks in and stops Farfetch'd from attacking.
"Mienfoo, Force Palm again!" said Nazz. Mienfoo leaps towards Farfetch'd.
"Dodge it!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd fights through his paralysis and dodges Mienfoo's attack, surprising Korrina. "Now use Air Cutter!" Farfetch'd flaps his wings and releases a light blue, x-shaped, blade of energy from them and they hit Mienfoo, dealing super effective damage.
"Double Slap!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps at Mienfoo and slaps it across the face three times.
"Aerial Ace!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd flies at Mienfoo and rams it, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"Mienfoo is unable to battle. Farfetch'd wins the match." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Awesome." said Nazz.
"Good work, Nazz." said Kevin. Korrina returns Mienfoo to its pokeball.
"You did well, Mienfoo." said Korrina. She puts Mienfoo's pokeball away and pulls out another pokeball. "Hawlucha, go!" She throws Hawlucha's pokeball and releases it. "Use Flying Press!" Hawlucha flies up into the air and falls belly first towards Farfetch'd.
"Dodge it!" said Nazz. Farfetch'd's paralysis kicks in and stops him from dodging, allowing Flying Press to hit him and knocking him out.
"Farfetch'd is unable to battle. Hawlucha wins the match." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Way to go, Hawlucha!" said Korrina. Hawlucha flexes its arms. Nazz returns Farfetch'd to his pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, dude." said Nazz. She puts Farfetch'd's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Kirlia, come out!" She throws Kirlia's pokeball and releases her. "Kirlia, use Confusion!" Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Hawlucha gets sent flying back and onto the ground, receiving super effective damage. Hawlucha gets up and begins stumbling around, due to Confusion making it confused.
"Aerial Ace!" said Korrina. Hawlucha fights through its confusion, flies towards Kirlia while surrounded by white streaks of light, and rams her, knocking her back.
"Tackle!" said Nazz. Kirlia leaps at Hawlucha and rams it, knocking it back.
"Wing Attack!" said Korrina. Unfortunately, confusion kicks in and Hawlucha smacks itself across the face with its wing.
"Confusion!" said Nazz. Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Hawlucha gets hit with super effective damage, got sent flying back and skids across the floor.
"Aerial Ace!" said Korrina. Hawlucha flies towards Kirlia.
"Teleport!" said Nazz. Kirlia vanishes and Hawlucha misses. Hawlucha looks around the gym for Kirlia. She appears behind it. "Tackle!" Hawlucha turns around and Kirlia rams it in the gut, knocking it back. Hawlucha drops to one knee.
"Don't give up, Hawlucha! Use Wing Attack!" said Korrina. Hawlucha breaks out of its confusion and flies towards Kirlia.
"Double Team!" said Nazz. Kirlia creates several copies of itself. Hawlucha swings it swing at one of the Kirlias, but it was revealed to be a copy. "Confusion!" One of the Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Hawlucha gets sent flying back and crashes near Korrina with swirly eyes.
"Hawlucha is unable to battle. Kirlia wins the match." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Way to go, Kirlia!" said Nazz.
"Our friend is doing quite well." said Rolf.
"I'll say." said Kevin. Korrina returns Hawlucha to its pokeball.
"You fought hard, Hawlucha. You've earned a rest." said Korrina. She puts Hawlucha's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "You've done a fine job training your Pokemon, Nazz, but you'll have to beat my last Pokemon to earn the Rumble Badge. Go, Machoke!" She throws Machoke's pokeball and releases it. "Machoke, Focus Energy!" Machoke becomes surrounded by a red aura.
"Kirlia, Confusion!" said Nazz. Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Machoke recieves super effective damage and making it take a step back.
"Revenge!" said Korrina. Machoke becomes surrounded by an orange aura and releases a wave of it, and it hits Kirlia, doing critical damage to her, and knocking her to the floor.
"Magical Leaf!" said Nazz. Kirlia releases multiple glowing green leaves from her body, and they hit Machoke, knocking it back, but it remained standing.
"Leer!" said Korrina. Machoke's eyes glow red and Kirlia's defense weakens.
"Confusion!" said Nazz. Kirlia's eyes glow purple and Machoke receives super effective damage and gets knocked back.
"Karate Chop!" said Korrina. Machoke runs at Kirlia and karate chops her across the chest, knocking her to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Kirlia is unable to battle. Machoke wins the match." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Excellent work, Machoke." said Korrina. Machoke flexes his arms. Nazz returns Kirlia to her pokeball.
"You were awesome, Kirlia." said Nazz. She puts Kirlia's pokeball away and pulls another pokeball out of her pocket. "Come out, Floette!" She throws Floette's pokeball and releases her. "Use Fairy Wind!" Floette swings her flower and releases a gust of pink wind that hits Machoke, dealing super effective damage.
"Use Leer!" said Korrina. Machoke's eyes glow red and Floette's defense weakens.
"Grassy Terrain!" said Nazz. Floette spins her flower and releases thousands of glowing green seeds which land on the entire arena. Glowing green grass grow out of the arena floor.
"Karate Chop!" said Korrina. Machoke runs at Floette and karate chops her, knocking her back. Grassy Terrain glows and Floette and Machoke's wounds heal.
"Magical Leaf!" said Nazz. Floette spins and releases multiple glowing green leaves from her body, and they hit Machoke, dealing more damage due to Grassy Terrain powering up all grass type attacks.
"Revenge!" said Korrina. Machoke becomes surrounded by an orange aura and releases a beam of it that hits Floette, knocking her back. Grassy Terrain heals some of Floette and Machoke's wounds.
"Magical Leaf!" said Nazz. Floette spins and releases glowing green leaves from her body, and they hit Machoke, knocking it to the ground, unconscious.
"Machoke is unable to battle. Floette wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Nazz." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Way to go, Floette!" said Nazz. Floette floats around, happily.
"Nazz did it!" said Kevin.
"Friend Nazz is the victor." said Rolf. Jonny looks at Korrina with a sad smile. Korrina returns Machoke to its pokeball.
"You did well, Machoke. I'm proud of you." said Korrina. She puts Machoke's pokeball away and walks to Nazz. "You did an excellent job raising your Pokemon, Nazz."
"Thanks." said Nazz. Korrina pulls a Rumble Badge out of her pocket.
"As proof of your victory, here, I present you with the Rumble Badge." said Korrina.
"Thanks." said Nazz, taking the Rumble Badge, along with pokedollars. Kevin, Rolf, Jonny, and Korrina's grandfather walks over to them.
"Now that you four have defeated my granddaughter, you may now battle me to prove your worthiness of Mega Evolution." said Korrina's grandfather.
"Awesome." said Kevin.
"I can't wait!" said Jonny. Now that the group have defeated Korrina, they can now face her grandfather to prove themselves worthy of Mega Evolution. Will they be able to do so? Wait and see.
