"Babe!" Tommy called down the hallway as he walked up from the Command Center. He had stayed for a bit to try to settle the rangers, but he had only managed to calm them a bit. They could all tell how concerned he was and he had gladly taken them up on watching the twins for a few hours. There was something with Kimberly that worried him, something that he couldn't put his finger on and he knew he wouldn't figure it out with babies to pay attention to. "Kim?"
Tommy walked back to her office and stopped in the doorway as he saw the papers strewn around her. She was frantically searching through them, obviously looking for something. He watched as she assembled a set of papers and then started shaking her head. Whatever she was seeing, he knew that she didn't like it. He stepped away from the door and knelt down next to her, gently placing his hands over hers- pulling her back to this world. When she looked up at him, he saw the tears streaming down her face.
"Oh Beautiful," Tommy whispered as he cupped her face and she just shook her head as the sobs started. "What is it?"
"There…there's a reason there aren't any drawings where I…where we…" Kimberly trailed off as she let out a sob. "I don't make it, Tommy."
"We don't know that…baby…" Tommy said as he pulled her into him and he tried to pull in his own breath. If she had seen it, there was really a chance it was going to happen. He didn't know how he'd live without her, but he wasn't sure he could concentrate on that right now. Right now, he needed to calm down his wife and see if he could convince her that there were other options that explained what she was seeing.
"But I do…just read…just look at these," Kim said as she pulled away and she forced the papers into his hands. He glanced at them, but kept more of his concentration on her. She was bordering frantic and he wanted to pull her away from that. "They are what matches up best with those drawings."
"I believe you, but why don't we let Rebekah do what Roberto was talking about before we draw that conclusion?" Tommy asked and she gave him a sad look. She didn't understand what the purpose was in prolonging the inevitable. She was going to die and there was nothing that he could do to stop it. "Please. We're more likely to jump to conclusions because it is our lives."
"I…okay…" Kim said as she pulled back ever so slightly and he watched the tears continue to stream down her face. "I love…I don't want…"
"Neither do I," Tommy whispered and she just nodded. "They've got the kids for a bit…why don't I run you a bath and you can relax? Try to calm down?"
"You joining?" Kim asked and he froze as he had started to head towards the door. The first few months in this loft flashed through his mind and he briefly remembered them christening their bathroom as soon as it was done. Becoming new parents had changed a lot of things in their lives and their sex life was one of the bigger things. "And yes…that's the invitation you think it is."
"In that case…snacks for us…and then I'll start the bath," Tommy said as he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss and she smiled up at him. He wasn't sure why she had switched so quickly, but he was not going to question it after her practically undressing him earlier.
Kimberly quietly gathered her visions and sat them on her desk. As she was preparing to transition her career, she had spent more and more time in this room. She had also spent more and more time thinking about the life she wanted to have with Tommy. If that life was meant to be cut short, she wanted to spend as much of it loving him as she could. She had been thinking that for awhile now and after everything today- she was not going to wait anymore.
"Hey…" Tommy whispered as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back against him and she sank into his arms. He gently spun her around and picked her up and she laughed as she tilted her head down to kiss him. She felt him moving down the hallway and pulled away from the kiss when she realized they must be outside the master bath. "Can you…"
"Yeah," Kim said as she used her foot to open the door and Tommy then backed through it. For a New York loft- they had so much room and she was glad that he had insisted that she build the bath of her dreams. She looked over his shoulder to see that he had set up her bath tray with snacks and poured more bubble bath than she probably ever used. "Tommy."
"Hmm?" Tommy murmured as he lifted his head from her neck and looked up at her. She smiled at the sex drunk look on his face and just took him in. He was always hungry for her and she loved that he didn't withhold these moments from her. She loved seeing him this open about what he felt for her. "Babe…it's been awhile- do you have something to say or can we…"
"Well…if you'll put me down…" Kim trailed off and he groaned as she slid down his body. "Has it really been that long?"
"Don't ask me to do math. I just know we went from several times a week to every once in awhile," Tommy said as he quickly stripped her and she gasped as the sudden coolness hit her skin. She hadn't realized exactly how impatient he was. "Not that I'm complaining, our babies are worth it. But we have maybe an hour before the rangers lose their patience with the twins…I want to make the most of it."
"So do I," Kim said as she reached up to kiss him and started pulling off his clothing as they moved closer to the tub. She felt her knees hit the side of the tub and in her eagerness toppled backwards, bringing Tommy with her as he caught the both of them. She gave him a sheepish look as he pushed up from the suds and was glad when he started laughing. She let out a belly laugh as Tommy pushed back out of the tub and looked down at his bubble soaked clothing. He hastily removed the soaked clothing and crawled into the tub with her. "The snacks survived."
"Not really the snack I want at the moment," Tommy murmured against her neck as he nipped at her collarbone. "God I've missed this."
"Me too," Kim whispered as his body slid against hers and she let out a moan. "I don't want slow."
"Good," Tommy muttered as he lost himself in her and her pleasure filled cries soon filled the room. She would happily spend more of her time like this- to give him everything that she had left.
