Chapter Two-hundred and fifty-four: Alola Action Anarchy
For the first time since they left the region to begin the latest and current saga of their adventure, the reborn trainers were back in Alola. They were excited as they would get to see old friends, particularly all of their old classmates at trainer school. Sophocles, Kiawe, Mallow, Lana, Lillie, and Serena who moved to Alola from Kalos due to the high risk over there right now. Dawn and Kenny also had to do some battles for the current season of the World Coronation Series; Dawn had her first battle in the Ultra Class in Alola, and it was going to be with Guzma, aka the boss of Team Skull, aka ya boi Guzma.
As for Kenny, he got it that Rimu, the Champion-ranked trainer from Paldea, was in Alola right now. They had a battle in the Normal Class and Kenny won, but now both of them were in the Great Class, so they had to continue. Kenny, as well as the other reborn trainers, were hoping that Rimu would use a new species of Pokémon from his home region of Paldea, a new species that they haven't seen yet. Yes, there was going to be quite a lot for the reborn trainers to do in the Alola region, and they are going to be tackling what all may come their way with gusto. It's just how the reborn trainers tend to do things.
...But the return to Alola for the reborn trainers also carried some grim, somber notations. Specifically the last act of Team Scorn's in Alola that the reborn trainers were present for. A savage attack that saw Paul the former jerkwad crippled, and Katsuku Badorigo killed. Katsuku, the older brother of Ideku, lost his life when he was trying to help fend off the evil that Team Scorn had brought to the table. Team Scorn had even kidnapped the son that the late Katsuku had with his girlfriend Sarah, one of the girls attending Blackthorn City Academy. The evil of Team Scorn is not the kind to be trifled with, it would seem.
Dawn and the others knew that Team Scorn had to be stopped, but they hoped that such activity could be put off at least for their time in Alola. Dawn had to have her Ultra Rank battle with Guzma, and Kenny wanted to continue the friendly rivalry with Rimu. The reborn trainers were wanting a break from having to fight off the evil of Team Scorn, and they hoped that by returning to Alola, if for however briefly, they would be able to enjoy something of a vacation. Alola was considered to be something of a vacation spot, and only recently was its official Pokémon League firmly established and made an official thing.
The first thing that the reborn trainers did was check where Dawn was going to have her battle with Guzma. After finding the stadium and confirming when Dawn was going to have her battle against Guzma (in two days from that point), the reborn trainers went about helping Kenny track down Rimu so that they could have their battle in the Great Class. It was as Dawn and the others were in the market area on Melemele Island that they heard the familiar voice of Kiawe, one of their old classmates from Trainer school, call out to them.
"Oi, Dawn! Kenny! Trip! Kenny's girlfriend whose name I forgot!" Kiawe called out, catching the attention of the reborn trainers. When they spotted Kiawe waiving to them, Dawn led the others right over to him. "Long time no see," Kiawe began when the reborn trainers reached him, "The others and I all saw your battles against the Galar gym leaders as they got on TV. And I heard that you all aside from Kenny's girlfriend are in the World Coronation Series."
"Actually, that part about the World Coronation Series is why we're here," Trip began, "Dawn has her first Ultra Class battle coming up, and it's going to be held here in Alola, and on Melemele Island. It'll be against Guzma, the boss of Team Skull."
Gesturing to himself, Kenny went on, "As for me, I got it that that this Paldean trainer, Rimu, is in Alola right now fo-"
"Guy with long bluish hair," Kiawe interrupted, "Accompanied by a glasses-wearing girl with red and blue hair?"
The reborn trainers all looked surprised. "...You saw Rimu and his girlfriend Penny?" Mina asked.
Kiawe nodded once in the affirmative. "Yeah, it turns out that Penny is the girl that the Galarian boy who moved here, Draco, was talking about, and Rimu is Penny's boyfriend who Draco also mentioned." Putting his hands on his hips, Kiawe said, "You can find Rimu and Penny at the nearby game shop. Penny dragged Rimu off to the game shop when I told them that it deals in that Arcane the Collective trading card game, and that Sophocles, Lana, and Draco are all over there right now. Lana was able to start dating Draco, and Lana plus Sophocles play Arcane the Collective, as does that Penny girl. You may still find them all over there if you hurry."
Kenny nodded once to Kiawe in thanks. "Much obliged," Kenny said before turning around and leading the rest of the reborn trainers off to go find the game shop. Kiawe was about to ask the group if they knew where the game shop was located, but Mina said she knew the game shop he was talking about and has been there a few times while she still lived in Alola, so she knows where to go. As the group made their way, Kenny said, "Hey hold on a minute, I just realized something."
"What is it, Kenny?" Mina asked.
"Apparently Penny dragged Rimu to a game shop so she could play Arcane the Collective against others," Kenny began, "And Lana who is apparently dating Draco now dragged him to the game shop so she could also play Arcane the Collective."
Shrugging, Trip said, "So?"
"It's multiple cases of a girlfriend dragging her boyfriend to a game shop so she could play a TCG game," Kenny began to explain, "Isn't it usually the boyfriend dragging the girlfriend along to such a place so he could play such a game?"
"Would..." Mina began, a hint of uncertainty in her tone, "...Would it bother you to learn I also play Arcane the Collective?" After seeing Kenny's surprised look on his face, Mina snorted back a laugh. "I'm kidding, I'm just joking!" Mina laughed, "I just wanted to see the look on your face if you thought I was dragging you to a game shop while Arcane the Collective was involved!" The reborn trainers then proceeded to continue making their way to the game shop, but Kenny had a (very mild, mind you) unamused scowl on his face the rest of the walk over.
The reborn trainers soon arrived at the game shop, which was called 'The Extra Deck'. The group went inside, and looked around, trying to locate their friends Lana and Sophocles, as well as Lana's boyfriend Draco and the two trainers from Paldea. Sure enough, they spotted their targets at a table, with Lana, Sophocles, and Penny all playing each other in a three-way game of Arcane the Collective while Rimu and Draco sat off to the side and watched. Lana also now wore a version of her top that had long sleeves, her hair was longer, and she now wore glasses.
"I bring greetings from he who wields the Holy Sandal in the name of the great prophet!" Kenny proclaimed as he made his way over to the table everyone was at, making everyone stop what they were doing and turn to look to see Kenny and the others arrive. Dawn took a mental note of how Lana had a slight yet notable softness to her face, a sign she had gained weight. Given that Lana was skinny to the point she needed to gain weight the last time the reborn trainers saw her, Dawn decided to take this as a good thing, but hoped Lana wouldn't become a second Maylene.
"Kenny! Dawn! Trip! Kenny's girlfriend!" Sophocles said, "You guys are back in Alola!"
Rimu arched a wry eyebrow at Kenny. "I believe his girlfriend's name is Mina." Turning to look at Kenny, Rimu asked, "I take it you made it into the Great Class now, heard I also made it into the Great Class, and you wanna have another battle with me?"
"Well we did hear you were in Alola," Kenny said, "Something about the Alolan regional variant species of Pokémon." Gesturing to Dawn, Kenny went on, "And Dawn here made it into the Ultra Class, and her first opponent is gonna be Guzma the boss of Team Skull."
"I heard of Team Skull," Penny said, her eyes narrowing a bit out of suspicion, "They're little else aside from a public nuisance, but they have been known to always take stands against Team Scorn when they act up."
Trip nodded once in agreement. "They... are a little bad, yeah, but they're the lesser of two evils, and will help to fight against the greater of two evils. At the very least, we can count on Team Skull to help against Team Scorn."
Mina turned to look at Lana, who had Draco sitting next to her. "I see you're looking better, Lana," Mina said, "I got it you were a bit of a beanpole."
Nodding once, Lana said, "Oh yeah, now that I'm not fretting over making myself as thin as possible because my mom told me it's the only way I'd land a guy, I'm not planning to hold back any longer."
"I was a bit surprised to learn that Lana was the girl who I met at the park that one time," Draco said, "Wearing a disguise. But she explained things to me and we talked things out a bit, and now... well, we're an item."
"Yeah, we were doing a hidden camera thing," Kenny said. clapping his hands together, Kenny said, "So anywho! Rimu, when will you be willing to throw down with me in a Super Class battle?"
"Well I think Penny needs time to compile what notes she and I got on the various species of Alolan variant Pokémon so far," Rimu said, "So if we can find a good place to battle, I say we can do so now."
Lana nodded once in understanding. "I think the beach nearby would be perfect."
Arching a wry eyebrow at Rimu, Kenny asked, "You wanna make it another single style battle, two Pokémon each?"
"That will make things quicker, yeah," Rimu said, "And it'll get Penny and I to Mount Lanakila quicker."
Penny nodded in the affirmative. "I wanna study the Alolan regional variant of Sandshrew, which I heard is found up there. Although I heard that Alola's population of wild Alolan Sandshrew have in recent events shifted in behavior. A shift that is species wide."
Trip, with a dry look on his face, said, "Yeah, Kenny here can actually shed some light on that. Him and his two Sandslashes, that is."
"Two Alolan Sandslashes?" Penny asked, looking curious.
Gently shaking his head in the negative, Kenny replied, "No, only Silver is an Alolan Sandslash. Elay is a Kantonian Sandslash that is shiny." With the battle between Kenny and Rimu agreed upon, everyone in 'The Extra Deck' left, with the gamers gathering their stuff, before heading out to the nearby beach area so that Kenny could have his Super Class battle against Rimu, a continuation of the sort of rivalry that they have going.
Down on the beach, the rest of the group stood off to the side while Kenny and Rimu faced one another, ready for battle. As it was an official battle for the current season of the World Coronation Series, a Rotom Drone came in. Seeing the respective rankings of Kenny and Rimu, Dawn saw that both were indeed in the Great Class, but Rimu's rank was a good number of points higher than Kenny's. The Champion-ranked trainer from Paldea obviously had gotten into and won a lot more battles than what Kenny had been able to do.
It was a single style battle, two Pokémon per trainer. The two boys sent out their respective first Pokémon out at the same time. "Okay, Godzilla!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Tyranitar, "Let's make it cringe!"
"Go, Tinkaton!" Rimu said as he sent out his first Pokémon for the battle, a new species that none of the reborn trainers were familiar with called Tinkaton. A pink humanoid looking creature, Tinkaton had white arms that looked to be in thick, puffy sweater sleeves, covering all of the fingers although the thumbs were the same shade of pink as the body. It had steel plates on its body around its waist, resembling out-turned pockets or armor worn over the hips. It had eyes of silver, and its mouth was large with two square teeth-like growths along the upper lips.
On Tinkaton's head was a large growth of pinkish-white hair in a twin-tail style, going down over Tinkaton's back and having a darker pink zigzaging pattern accenting it. What really stood out about Tinkaton was its absurdly large metal hammer, which was larger than Tinkaton itself. A rather large and crude looking bludgeon, Tinkaton's hammer looked to be welded from scraps of metal from several sources, and a spiked, sort of beige colored axe-like structure was on the hammer's top. Everyone who was watching took note of how Rimu's Tinkaton was carrying the massive hammer with ease.
Gesturing to Tinkaton, Kenny asked Rimu, "Why... why does your Tinkaton have a massive hammer?"
"Tinkaton and its pre-evolutions all have metal hammers they make from metal scraps they find," Rimu explained, "It's an integral part of their evolutionary line. Tinkaton's hammer is also integral to Tinkaton using her signature move." Pointing forward, Rimu called out, "Tinkaton, use Gigaton Hammer!"
Gesturing forward, Rimu called out, "Godzilla, use Brick Break!"
The two Pokémon rushed one another, but Tinkaton had a slight speed advantage and was able to slam its hammer right into the named Tyranitar, scoring very heavy damage on it. Godzilla was able to shake it off, and Kenny could tell that another Gigaton Hammer from Tinkaton could bring Godzilla down low, even though Godzilla was able to land its Brick Break. "Your Tinkaton..." Kenny said, "I figured that it'd be a steel type, so I called for Brick Break from Godzilla."
Rimu nodded once in understanding. "Tinkaton is a species of dual fairy steel type Pokémon from the Paldea region."
"Dual fairy steel?" Kenny asked.
"Yeah," Rimu said, "And the move that my Tinkaton just used, Gigaton Hammer, is a steel type move boasting what many researchers believe to be the highest base damage rating among all steel type moves. However, as a drawback to using it Tinkaton can't use it again until after using another attack."
Kenny looked a bit calmer now. "So you can't get off multiple Gigaton Hammers in a row."
Rimu gave a single nod in the affirmative. "Yeah, exactly." Gesturing forward, Rimu called out, "Tinkaton, use Play Rough!"
"Godzilla, use Earthquake!" Kenny commanded.
Both Pokémon got their attacks off, and while Godzilla took another hard hit, he was still in the game. Tinkaton, however, went down to the Earthquake from the named Tyranitar. "Tinkaton has been defeated," the Rotom Drone said, "Tyranitar wins!"
Kenny gave a cheer as Rimu recalled his fainted Tinkaton. As for the other reborn trainers, they looked on with eager anticipation, with Mina even using her phone to record a video of the entire Great Class battle between Kenny and Rimu. After he had called back his fainted Tinkaton, Rimu tossed up the Pokéball that held his second and last Pokémon for the battle. "Go, Skeledirge!" Rimu said as he sent his Skeledirge out.
The reborn trainers saw Rimu's Skeledirge before, when it was used by Rimu to defeat Iris in an exhibition battle before the Champion's Favor Pokémon Showcase back in the Kalos region. As it was a repeat, the reborn trainers had so far seen only five new Pokémon out of Rimu; his Skeledirge, Meowscarada, Tinkaton, Baxcalibur, and Clodsire. They wondered what his sixth Pokémon was, only being able to reason it out that it was a fully evolved Quaxly, like how Skeledirge is a fully evolved Fuecoco and that Meowscarada is a fully evolved Sprigatitio.
Smirking a bit, Kenny said, "I think you're teasing me, Rimu. Two can play at that game!" Gesturing forward, Kenny called out, "Godzilla, use rock Slide!"
"Skeledirge, use Earth Power!" Rimu called out.
Skeledirge was the quicker and, after making the ground beneath Godzilla's feet erupt with power, Skeledirge had knocked the named Tyranitar out because its attack had struck hard and thrown Godzilla back. "Tyranitar has been defeated," the Rotom Drone announced, "Skeledirge wins!"
As Kenny recalled his fainted Tyranitar, Trip muttered to himself, "And there's another fully evolved starter kicking the ass of Kenny's Tyranitar."
Over at the battle, Kenny said to Rimu, "You are an able opponent, Rimu. As such, it's only fitting that I show the utmost respect to you." Tossing up the Pokéball that held his last Pokémon, Kenny called out, "Okay, Moista Fista! Let's make it cringe!" To the surprised looks of Rimu and Penny, Kenny's second Pokémon was his named Ursaluna.
Rimu's eyes narrowed out of mild suspicion. "...That's the evolved form of Ursaring," Rimu said, "An evolution found only in the Hisuian period of Sinnoh's history. Penny, some of our schoolmates, and I learned about the Hisuian period at school. But the Ursaluna species went extinct, and the method of evolving Ursaring to Ursaluna had been lost to history. How is it you came upon an Ursaluna?"
"Cringe and moxie!" Kenny replied, "Now then! Moista Fista, use Earthquake!"
"Skeledirge, use Flamethrower!" Rimu called out.
Both Pokémon used their attacks, and while both were hit hard, it was Skeledirge who looked worse for ware. But Moista Fista was burned by Flamethrower, so things might be able to even out. But Kenny wasn't going to give up. Gesturing forward, Kenny ordered, "Moista Fista, use Earthquake again!"
"Skeledirge, use Flamethrower again!" Rimu called out.
The two attacks were used, and while the named Ursaluna took a grazing hit along the big bump that was its back, Skeledirge was hit hard by the seismic waves of the Earthquake attack. Even the burn that Moista Fista suffered from didn't slow it down, and as such Skeledirge went down in battle to the extinct evolution of Ursaring. "Skeledirge has been defeated," the Rotom Drone announced, "Ursaluna wins! Contestant Kenny wins the battle!" Everyone saw it as the rankings of Kenny and Rimu changed; even with Kenny's win just now, Rimu still had a somewhat higher rank than he did.
After the Rotom Drone took off and the two Pokémon who were out withdrawn, Rimu looked to Kenny. "If we're to continue this when the two of us both make it into the Ultra Class," Rimu began, "It'll be by luck if we battle as Ultra Class battles are pre-determined, meaning we don't have a say in who it is we battle."
Kenny nodded once in understanding. "Yeah, such is the case with my main man Dawn battling Guzma soon." The trainers who were at the beach then took off to the nearest Pokémon Center so that Kenny could get Godzilla and Moista Fista treated, while Rimu got Tinkaton and Skeledirge treated.
...
At the nearest Pokémon Center, while the Pokémon of Kenny and Rimu who fought were being treated, the trainers all sat together. At Penny's request as she and Rimu are in Alola to study the Alolan regional variant species, Kenny rotated into his party Elay and Silver, then called both out. Penny took a picture of the two Sandslashes together, saying a picture of Kantonian Sandslash next to Alolan Sandslash would look good in the info she and Rimu were gathering. Penny did say she'd have to make a note of how Elay is a shiny Kantonian Sandslash.
"You may also wanna take note of their cross-eyed expressions," Trip said to Penny, "If and when you and Rimu get to studying Alolan Sandshrews in the field, you'll have an idea on why they're now behaving the way that they do."
"Sandslash slash Sandslash?" Elay and Silver said in unison as they looked up at Penny.
As Penny looked on in mild confusion, Rimu said, "Yeah, Penny and I are doing something of a field study thing to learn about the Alolan regional variant species of Pokémon here." A hint of grim knowing appeared in the Paldean Champion's eyes. "There's also how Alola's native sector of Team Scorn is in the business of trying to rustle up as many Alolan regional variant Pokémon as possible. I heard a similar thing might occur in Galar where Galar's native sector of Team Scorn will be going after Galarian regional variant species of Pokémon."
Gesturing to Rimu, Trip asked, "Doesn't your Clodsire evolve from the regional variant of Wooper found in Paldea?"
Rimu nodded once in the affirmative. "Yeah. Paldea has a few other regional variant species of Pokémon. I haven't heard anything about Team Scorn acting in Paldea aside from small acts here and there, and they've done nothing so far to suggest their current forces in Paldea are a threat. But even so, Team Scorn needs to be taken seriously. We can't dally on dealing with them."
Mina nodded in agreement. "Considering that a guy was shot and killed during the events of Team Scorn's last major act here in Alola, that's a given."
"Oh, Rimu and I heard about that," Penny said, "There's also been an update in that case, as it was confirmed a Team Scorn Officer known as Captain Zed is the guilty party in the murder of Katsuku Badorigo."
"I heard of said story update myself," Sophocles said, "While I was in Kanto visiting Misty after she got out of the hospital. Investigators actually found Captain Zed laying dead, having been dumped in the forests here in Alola."
The reborn trainers all looked surprised to hear that Zed, the cowardly blowhard Captain from Team Scorn's Katana Sector, was now dead. "Any word on how he died?" Trip asked, a bit eager to know as Zed had shot and killed Trip's biological mother in this world.
"He was shot in the back of the head, according to the autopsy which was leaked and later confirmed," Rimu said, "And the report further goes on to say the remainder of a gun clip was emptied into Zed's remains. Examining the bullets still in Zed confirmed the same gun he used to shoot and kill Katsuku Badorigo was used to shoot and kill Zed himself. Also it's the same gun used to shoot and kill a woman in Numeva Town, Unova."
Trip had a look of serious consideration on his face. "...Sounds like the higher ups of Team Scorn took Zed's gun from him and used it to kill Zed."
"You think that the Team Scorn higher ups were getting sick and tired of Zed's stupidity?" Lana asked.
Draco was about to speak up, but he got cut off when the Nurse Joy came over to their group to tell them that Kenny's Pokémon and Rimu's Pokémon were ready for pick up. And right as Kenny and Rimu got their Pokémon back, the instant after they got their Pokémon back from Nurse Joy, Kiawe came running into the Pokémon Center, a look of panic on his face. "Team Scorn is active in the city!" Kiawe called out.
"What's the situation?" Rimu asked.
Gesturing widely, Kiawe said, "There's some wild Alolan Rattatas and wild Alolan Grimers running about scared as Team Scorn's trying to scoop as many of them as possible up! I'm not sure what they want those Pokémon for, my guess is that they wanna use them to arm their fellows with more Pokémon!"
"..Or maybe this is related to how Team Scorn is after regional variant species of Pokémon to sell on the black market," Trip said. Kiawe then led everyone out of the Pokémon Center so that they could fight off Team Scorn.
Getting into the city, the reborn trainers and their allies saw it as wild Alolan Rattatas and wild Alolan Grimers were scurrying about, trying to evade the grasps of Team Scorn members. It was Kenny who first spotted Admin Mage, accompanied by his Admin's Assistant Aya, supervising the Team Scorn mission. "I'm going in!" Kenny called out as he ran right for Mage and Aya.
"Hey Kenny, you'll need backup!" Rimu called out as he chased after Kenny. The rest of the heroes were left there to fight off the various Team Scorn grunts that were all around the area, providing no shortage of sport for the heroes to have fun with.
...
As Mage and Aya were overseeing the mission to round up the wild Alolan Rattatas and wild Alolan Grimers, they were surprised when Kenny came running right up to them, followed by Rimu who they didn't recognize. "...You're Kenny Harris," Mage said, "I got it that you and a few other trainers of note had left Alola."
"We did, but came back because Dawn has an Ultra Class battle in the World Coronation Series here in Alola," Kenny explained.
"Dawn Berlitz is back in Alola," Aya said, "This is bad."
"And it's about to get a lot more bad for you guys!" Kenny said, "I'm putting as stop to your discount dastardly deed-doing here!" Tossing up a Pokéball, Kenny called out, "Okay, Godzilla! Let's make it cringe!"
"Go, Baxcalibur!" Rimu said as he sent out his Baxcalibur.
"Go, Pyroar!" Aya said as she sent out her Pyroar, its mane going around its head clearly showing it to be male.
"Go, Charizard!" Mage said as he sent out his Charizard.
Smirking in amusement, Kenny said, "Aha! You both sent out fire types! This will be a cinch!" Gesturing forward, Kenny said, "Godzilla, use Rock Slide!"
"Baxcalibur, use Brick Break on Pyroar!" Rimu called out.
"Pyroar, use Dark Pulse on Tyranitar!" Aya called out.
"Charizard, use Brick Break on Tyranitar!" Mage called out.
"Hol' up," Kenny said, "Did you just say that your Charizard knows Brick Break?!"
As an answer to Kenny's question, Mage's Charizard flew in and struck the named Tyranitar with Brick Break, dealing a heavy hit. Baxcalibur's Brick Break hit Pyroar, and although Pyroar didn't go down, it was close to it. But it was still in the game, and it hit Godzilla with its Dark Pulse. While not very effective, Dark Pulse was able to score a flinch on Godzilla, keeping it from getting its Rock Slide attack off. Kenny, growling with annoyance, called out, "Godzilla, try using Rock Slide again!"
"Baxcalibur, use Brick Break on Pyroar!" Rimu called out.
"Pyroar, use Flamethrower on Tyranitar!" Aya called out.
"Charizard, use Brick Break on Tyranitar!" Mage commanded.
Charizard once more flew in and struck Godzilla with Brick Break, only this time the damage was enough to knock Godzilla out. Pyroar's Flamethrower went on to hit Baxcalibur, and although Baxcalibur took a slight hit, more than anything it was a boon as it triggered Baxcalibur's Thermal Exchange ability, bolstering its strength. The dual ice dragon from Paldea went on to knock Pyroar out with the second Brick Break.
"Charizard is a dual fire flying type, and Tyranitar aside from being part rock type is a Pseudo-Legend!" Kenny cried out, "How did Godzilla lose to Charizard?!" Recalling his fainted Tyranitar, Kenny called out, "Okay, Black! Let's make it cringe!" Kenny's next Pokémon for the battle was his named Giratina, a sign that Kenny's lost a bit of his temper. Black ended up one-shotting Mage's Charizard with Dragon Claw while Rimu's Baxcalibur took out Aya's Gogoat which she sent out next.
But Black took out Mage's Haxorus with a single Dragon Claw, and then one-shot Mage's male Meowstic after that with Iron Head. "Seriously!" Kenny said, "Every single time! It's getting annoying!"
Regardless of Kenny losing his cool, Mage and Aya were defeated, prompting Mage to give the signal to retreat. The members of Team Scorn who were present all withdrew, some using smoke grenades to mask their escape. After the smoke settled and everyone saw that all of Team Scorn were gone, the heroes gathered back up to see how everyone was doing. Penny reported that, sadly, Team Scorn was able to make off with two Alolan Grimers and three Alolan Rattatas, even though most of Team Scorn's forces at the scene were defeated or on the verge of it before they were forced to flee.
"Well at least we kept Team Scorn from getting away with TOO much," Trip remarked, drawing affirming nods out of the rest of the trainers present. "Hey Kenny," Trip began when he turned to look at Kenny, "I heard you shouting earlier before Team Scorn fled. What was that about?"
Pointing to Kenny, Rimu said, "I think it has to do with how his Tyranitar was defeated by the Charizard used by that Team Scorn Officer guy with the scarf."
"That would be Admin Mage," Lana spoke up, "The head of the Team Scorn sector that's native to Alola."
"Every time!" Kenny cried out, "Every time Godzilla fights a fully evolved starter belonging to a Team Scorn Admin, Godzilla gets his ass kicked! And it happened again just now, despite how Godzilla had a significant type advantage!"
"Not to mention how your Tyranitar has a terrible record against the fully evolved starters of other people," Trip remarked, "Heck, earlier today your Tyranitar was knocked out in battle by Rimu's Skeledirge!"
"I'd suggest more training," Rimu said, "But I also get the feeling that it's just plain bad luck on your part." Things were settled for the most part, so the heroes decided to retire for the evening. This saw Kenny have to go back to the Pokémon Center because Godzilla had to be treated (again) due to being knocked out by a fully evolved starter Pokémon (again). Kenny was planning to do more training for Godzilla, but he also had reason to believe that Rimu's comment on Kenny just plain having a bit of bad luck was also valid.
The next few days were spent training by the reborn trainers. It also saw Dawn's first Ultra Class battle, where she fought ya boi Guzma, the boss of Team Skull. Dawn was able to win the battle, and using only Argent who is her named alpha Hisuian Arcanine; a Rock Head-bolstered Wild Charge took out Golisopod, and Rock Head-bolstered Flare Blitzes took out Scizor and a Pinsir. After the win, Dawn saw her rank go up to sixty-four. She was then told that she would be notified of when her next Ultra Class battle would be, as well as where it would be and who she'd be fighting.
After Dawn's win over Guzma, she and the others went to the local Pokémon Center to have Argent treated, although in reality he only needed a few Leppa Berries to be perfectly topped off. "Dawn's doing pretty damn well," Kenny remarked, "She'll be battling her way into the Masters Eight at this rate, mark my words."
Trip nodded in agreement, and Mina was about to say something. But she got cut off when Sophocles came dashing into the Pokémon Center, a look of troubled alarm on his face. "Hey guys, did you hear the news about something happening involving the World Coronation Series?" Sophocles asked.
Turning to look at Sophocles, Kenny replied, "No, what happened?"
"I first heard about it when Misty's sister Daisy told me about it over the phone," Sophocles said, "Apparently, Ash had a battle against a Galarian gym leader named Bea at Saffron City's Fighting Dojo, an official battle for the current season of the World Coronation Series in the Great Rank. Daisy further got it that it was the first time that Ash had ever battled Bea."
Dawn and the others recalled, from their memories of the anime in their previous life, that Ash lost his first battle against Bea. But their instincts told them that something else was up. "...What all happened?" Trip asked.
"Ash won the battle against Bea," Sophocles explained, "And his rank saw a notable increase, although he's still in the Great Class. But get this, Bea had accused Ash of cheating and is trying to get him disqualified from the World Coronation Series! Everyone involved in the case is still in Kanto, and I even heard that Leon, the current Monarch of the World Coronation Series, is heading to Kanto to personally look into the matter!"
"Bea did what?!" Trip said. Looking to the others, Trip said, "Guys, we gotta go to Kanto. Ash needs our help!"
Dawn had a look of suspicion on her face. Once again, Ash here had won a battle that he in the anime in Dawn's previous life had lost. But now the person Ash had beaten, Bea the fighting type gym leader from Galar, had accused Ash of cheating. There's no way Ash would cheat, so either Bea is being a sore loser or she's blowing something out of proportion. Either way, Trip had a point on how they had to go to Kanto to see how Ash was doing, and if he would need their help to cast aside the accusations of cheating that Bea had put against him.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FOUR
Author's notes;
This chapter sees the reborn trainers return to Alola so Dawn could have her first battle in the Ultra Rank for the current season of the World Coronation Series. It also serves as the location for Kenny and Rimu to have their Super Class battle, and Kenny wins despite how Godzilla was defeated by a fully evolved starter. And the named Tyranitar later gets defeated by yet another fully evolved starter when the Scarf Sector of Team Scorn acts up and Godzilla is defeated by Mage's Charizard. But all the same, Team Scorn is defeated and driven off, although they get away with a few Alolan Rattatas and a few Alolan Grimers.
Later, Dawn has her Ultra Rank battle against ya boi Guzma and wins, and as such Dawn's rank in the World Coronation Series goes up. Speaking of ranks going up in the World Coronation Series, Ash's rank goes up after he wins the first battle he ever has against Bea, despite how in the anime Ash loses that battle.
