"When can we leave again?"

That was about the thousandth time Yang asked the question. Truthfully, Weiss was tired of this room as well. For about four days, they were stuck in the hospital. The room was bland and the days mundane. Recovery was boring.

At least the couple shared a room. Yang provided decent entertainment. For free, she said. When they first arrived here, they noticed two beds. They wanted to push together the two to make one big bed, but were promptly scolded by the nurse.

"They said soon, Yang," Weiss recalled. "There's this thing called patience."

"Ugh," Yang pouted and sat on the edge of her girlfriend's bed. "Are you sure you're better?"

Weiss almost scoffed from the question, but noticed she was only concerned. To put her at ease, Weiss lifted her arm in the sling.

"My arm will completely heal in a couple of months. My nose was corrected," Weiss said, which caused Yang to grimace when she recalled the multiple cracks when a doctor fixed it. "And you know my ribs and head will naturally heal in time."

Gingerly, Yang held her hand and sensed her slight displeasure from being asked repeatedly. "Sorry. You know how much I worry."

Yang couldn't help it. She'd never seen her girlfriend- or anyone- suffer so much in so little time. The injuries she received were torturous, and here she lay, in a hospital gown under a thin sheet. Weiss looked like an abused doll, but she did look significantly better than the last few days.

Weiss squeezed her hand. "This is nothing I can't handle, but what about you? The cut on your throat was deep."

Yang waved her off and lightly tugged on the bandage around her neck. "I didn't even need stitches, it wasn't that deep."

Weiss strained to lean up due to her sore ribs and useless arm, but she managed it with a grimace. Yang was there to coax her to stay upright.

"What're you doing?" the blonde asked. "They said don't move so much."

"I'm just sitting up," Weiss quipped and stared regretfully at the bandage around her throat. "I'm sorry. You got hurt because of me."

Just like Yang, Weiss couldn't help but apologize again.

"Nah," the blonde easily replied. "This was because I'm a terrible hostage."

At last, there was another smile. Weiss tilted up to kiss her girlfriend on the neck, where the thin bandage was. Yang savored those sweet lips and missed the contact when she pulled away.

"Hopefully, it feels better now," Weiss said sweetly.

"Oh my god, you're blushing," Yang observed and grinned ear-to-ear. "You're so sweet!"

On instinct, Yang wanted to hug her. Sadly, she had to refrain from too much physical contact with her girlfriend. Otherwise, their ribs would throb relentlessly.

"Shut up," Weiss replied, resisting the urge to wipe the smirk off her face and frowned. "I'm just- sorry, okay?"

To cheer her up, Yang lifted her chin and pressed their lips together. She had nothing to be sorry for. They were soft like feathers and brushed with each other. Yang pulled away too soon.

"Don't be," the blonde whispered. "I love you. I'd do it all again for you in a heartbeat."

"I love you, too."

The door abruptly opened and they counted their lucky stars their kiss ended before then. The couple sat next to each other and held hands. They gazed at the clock on the wall. School ended recently.

"We're back!" Ruby sang as she frolicked through the door with Blake in tow. "Wanna see the homework?"

Groans. Their tiny slice of heaven was nice while it lasted.

"I'd rather eat two live chickens than do homework," Yang deadpanned.

Ruby tilted her head in confusion. "Is that a hard no?"

Yang gave her a look.

"Ruby," Weiss called. "We're concussed. Homework can wait."

Normally, Weiss and Yang finished all their assignments on time. But when their heads exploded after only a minute of staring at the papers, there wasn't much they could do.

Easily, Blake sat on a chair next to them. "We don't want you guys to fall behind, that's all."

"We'll manage somehow," Weiss insisted and looked at her tech partner. "How's Brutis?"

Ruby perked up from the mention of him and overflowed with energy. "He needed a few tweaks, but he's perfect now. You have to come in and see him! He misses his other mom."

From how she phrased that, Weiss sighed and gently smiled from how incorrigible she truly was. Before she could reply, a knock on the door resounded. It wasn't the nurse since she typically strode inside. Rather, another familiar face.

"Hi, Glyn!" Yang greeted, eager to see her. "Are you here to lecture us?"

"On the contrary," Goodwitch informed and carefully gazed at her students. "I wanted to personally see how you're both doing."

Based on how she was greeted, Glynda knew she had nothing to worry about. Yang was as chipper as ever and Weiss appeared to be a ghost next to the white sheets. That was far better than how bloodied she was mere days earlier.

"Ruby and Blake seem to be in fine shape after everything," Glynda mentioned. "But you two…"

While the couple looked better, they'd seen far better days. Bruises scattered all over their bodies. The sling and bandage only added to their injured appearance. Meanwhile, Blake had been seen by a doctor for her ribs and there wasn't much they could do. They had to heal on their own, so no strenuous activity was recommended. This is why Ruby insisted on carrying her backpack for her.

Weiss met her teacher's gaze and smiled. "We're a mess."

It was then that Weiss and Yang gazed at each other and lightly giggled. What an understatement.

Glad they seemed normal and on the way to recovery, Glynda smiled.

"You're both exempt from homework for the time being. However, I expect you to keep up with the unit," Goodwitch glanced at the faunus and to Ruby. "They'll be depending on you."

From the news, Ruby yelped. "You're telling me I should've gotten hurt to skip homework?!"

A round of giggles.

Playfully, Blake elbowed her in the side. "That's besides the point, my rose."

After they settled down, Goodwitch stared at Weiss and pointed.

"You," Goodwitch began, which caused her to stiffen. "I expect your grades to go up now that you're no longer hiding from your father. Please bear in mind there's not much he can do inside a prison cell."

Weiss couldn't suppress the wide smile. "I'll get straight A's next semester."

Now that Jacques was behind bars, a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. Finally, she was free to do as she pleased. Live how she wanted in Vale. She belonged here and now she had a future to look forward to. Her ideals can come to life.

Yang shook her head by how grades were one of Glynda's top concerns. "You're still on that? You really are such a teacher."

"Never underestimate the power of education," Goodwitch simply said. "Tell me if either of you need other accommodations. Headmaster Ozpin is an understanding person."

Curious from her comment, Weiss perked a brow. "He understands my… unique circumstance?"

Briefly, Weiss wondered if the whole school knew about her monster of a father and his gang. That would cause another slew of unwanted problems.

Glynda crossed her arms. "Headmaster Ozpin had his fair share of harsh tumbles."

From the information, Weiss and Yang glowered at Ruby and Blake. The ladybug couple flinched from their sharp eyes.

"That's what you told people?" Weiss asked in disbelief.

Nervously, Ruby pressed her fingers together. "Maybe?"

Yang groaned in annoyance. "That's so lame!"

"Sorry," Blake apologized when they seemed upset. "We weren't going to tell people we all could've died."

There were a million excuses that soared at the top of their minds. A fall was so cliche, so mundane, and so… so… as Yang put it- lame.

"That's exactly what you tell people!" Yang yelped and clutched her ribs when they throbbed in pain.

Ruby put a hand on her shoulder. "Hey, calm down. Moving suddenly won't help-"

"You could've told people I stopped a robbery, or- or wrestled a shark!" Yang complained. "Something badass! Instead- what? I fell down some stairs? What did I fall from? Unless it was a fucking skyscraper we'd have nothin' to worry about!"

From how riled up she was, Weiss rolled her eyes. She didn't mind too much if the entire school thought she was uncoordinated. Much worse could come from this.

Ruby flailed her hands in an attempt to calm her. "We couldn't tell people something crazy! They'd get suspicious!"

"Oh, shut up," Yang sighed in frustration. "If you got hurt, you bet your ass I'd be telling people you wiped out on a motorcycle. Or- or got in a skydiving accident! You did me dirty!"

It didn't help matters when Blake and Ruby recalled the students' reactions from the news. The said things like 'that's so Yang' and 'wow, Weiss is clumsy.' The ladybug couple stifled their creeping grins.

"I'm sorry, sis," Ruby genuinely apologized.

"It's fine," Yang heavily sighed. "That's my plan for next time."

Weiss gave her an unamused look. "What do you mean next time?"

Playfully, Goodwitch lightly tapped Yang on the head for such a bad joke. Another fight was obviously unwise and Glynda tried to remind her of that.

"Hey, hey," Yang said calmly and rubbed her head. "Concussed, remember?"

"You seem fine to me."

Yang dramatically dipped her head.

"Have a little mercy!"

Only 2 chapters left. I'm working on two new fics. One is a one-shot that'll be released when this fic is done posting. It's called Delusional, here's the summary: "When delusions clash with reality, the result can be dangerous. 'I don't know what delusional fantasy you conjured up in that smooth brain of yours, but you're about to get a reality check!'"

The other is a longer fic called The Cave, here's the summary: "Two strangers inexplicably cross paths while they are on the hunt for their own prizes. A mysterious cave traps and gives them a series of riddles. A blonde brawler and heiress soon realize they can't escape on their own, and need each other to get out alive." It's more of a drama/comedy.

Look forward to them!
