Hey Yo! NerdRyuu here for the 27th chapter of The Last Loud!
Last chapter Lincoln and the Loud started a fight with the Renaissance Cult, Lola died and Lincoln was about to fight it's leader!
I personally don't have any news for this this week, but I received a question, so let's answer it!
Dimitri Gomez: Will some of the slaves come out later in the story?
This is a funny question to receive, because the answer is actually in this very chapter! seriously! so, read through the end and you'll find the answer!
DISCLAIMER: I do NOT own The Loud House
Link had bought them to the kitchen again, Tower had finished the omelets for the trio. When Maria first took a bite of the dish, her eyes lit like never before, she never had ate something so good, even before Day Zero!
"Oh dios mío!" She gasped in her native language. "This is so good!" She spoke happily putting another piece on her mouth.
Cassie also took a bite, and like her mom, gasped at the flavor. "Mama is right! I never ate something so good!" Maria chuckled.
"Well, you never tasted eggs before." Maria interjected playfully.
"What is a egg?" Cassie spoke munching another piece of omelet. Maria Laughed, Link also did, and even Tower, who was watching them eating his meal, chuckled.
Tower looked at Loud and to the untouched plate of them. He frowned and looked at Maria and Cassie. They looked at him, he gestured to Loud and they understood.
"Oh, they doesn't like to eat when someone is around. It's not like they don't like your meal." Maria explained.
"They're shy." Cassie spoke playfully.
"Okay." Link spoke and turned to Tower. "Don't worry buddy, they'll eat when no one's around." Tower rolled his eyes but nodded. "I already summoned the twins to the meeting room, when you finish eating, well explain everything we know."
"You have a lot of trust on us." Noted Maria, eating another piece of omelet. "Why?"
Lincoln stared at Loud for a second, and they also stared back. He smiled and looked at Maria.
"We have good faith. I feel it." Maria didn't understood what he meant, but just let it go as she ate another piece of omelet. "When you two finish, let's leave Loud here to eat comfortably."
The twins Haru and Himiko, along with Link, Tower, Cassie and Maria where sitting in a meeting room, waiting for the last one of them to arrive. On the center table, a projector was ready to be used.
Finally Loud entered the meeting room, grabbing the attention of the others, who straighten up on their chairs as Loud itself got into a chair.
"How was the meal Loud?" Link asked with a smile. "Tower really likes feedback." Tower nodded.
"It was good." They spoke simply. "I missed a good home cooked meal." This was simple, but enough to make Tower smile, his sign of gratitude.
"Very well. Let's get to why we're here." Link spoke, getting serious suddenly, grabbing a remote and activating the projector, and the first thing that appeared was a bird's eye view of the Dam.
"50 miles north from this Dam, is located the main camp of the Renaissance Cult." Link pressed another button and a drone shot of the camp appeared on the projection.
It was like a village, but heavily fortified with walls, lookout towers spikes and one single entrance, made of wooden and armed with barbed wire.
"We really should call that a concentration camp to be honest." Haro spoke sighing.
"That's where Slavers lead their captured victims too." Link continued.
"We're talking about hundreds of slaves. While the slaves work to death to maintain the village, the Cultists and Slavers live like royalty." Another slide, and a close up of a feast some cultists were having.
"How do you got these photos?" Maria asked confused.
"We have a spy infiltrated on the camp." Link explained, and lifted a finger. At first, the three couldn't see what it was, but in the top of his finger, rested a small round ball, that sprung up with two wings that flapped around and a small camera in the middle.
"This is a micro drone." Link Explained. "With it we were able to infiltrate the camp without having the risk of being caught." Maria, Cassie and Loud nodded along.
"Recently, we discovered something peculiar on the camp." Link spoke, passing to the next slide. "They are creating this." The slide was a photo of a weird machine being built on top of a big cubic black building. "Naturally, you understand what this looks like." He spoke sternly.
"What?" Cassie asked, she obviously didn't understood what it was, she was too young and being born after the Day Zero didn't helped, as she never got to learn history.
"A Gas chamber." Maria spoke gloomily.
"What is this?" Cassie asked confused.
"The way the Nazi exterminated their prisoners on the concentration camps, back in world war II." Himiko explained. "Millions of innocent people died in the span of just three years."
"Jesus…" Cassie spoke shocked. "And those sons of a bitch are going to do the same?" She continued incredulous.
"Cassie! Language!" Maria scolded her daughter. Cassie mouthed a sorry.
"Well… Indeed, they are preparing to make a mass murder on their slaves. And the porpoise is what concern us the most." Link spoke, passing to the next slide.
It was a hospital bed, with what looked like a putrid zombie laying on it. It didn't had skin, some greenish muscle fibers on the face, but only that.
"That's…" Loud spoke, getting up. "Blight."
"Blight?" Maria and Cassie asked in unison.
"Their mutant leader." Haru spoke. "They plan to use the life energy of the slaves to restore him."
"HOW IS HE ALIVE!?" Loud shouted in complete anger, shocking everyone, specially Maria and Cassie, who never saw them getting so emotional.
"We don't know." Link spoke sighing. "But he survived the slave uprising nine years ago." Link continued.
"How do you know about that!?" Loud growled at Link. As Link opened his mouth to speak, Loud spoke again. "I saw that son of a bitch die! It's impossible! How? HOW!" Loud hammered down their fists on the table, making the projector tumble over.
"Loud…" Cassie spoke, trying to calm her friend.
"If he's alive…" Loud spoke again, they could hear, behind all the voice modifiers, their voice cracking, they were on verge of crying. "Them… It was in vain."
Without saying anything more, Loud turned around and walked out the room, slamming the door behind them and continued to run.
They didn't knew were to run, but they ran, went up stairs, entered rooms, passed others, and ended right on the top of the wall of the dam. With heavy breathing, they sat down, looking down at the dam.
They stood in silence. Looking down, listening to the water running through the generators.
He is alive. If he's alive. Everything we passed was in vain. And if everything was in vain… I surviving was in vain…
Everything was in vain.
They heard someone sitting by their side. They look ked and saw Link there, looking down to the Colorado river. His round glasses really reminded Loud of Lisa, his bright green eyes studied the slow waves of the river, Loud felt like he did that a lot, but it was just a guest.
"I like to come here sometimes." Link spoke finally, without taking his eyes of the landscape, the sun was starting to set, tinting their view in orange once again. "Sometimes, I wonder how it was. Before. I would love to see humanity in their prime." He said.
Loud spoke nothing, just observed the young lad. "Yes, I was born before Day Zero, but I was barely a toddler when it happened, so, I don't remember anything." He stopped for a second, pursing his lips in a sort of nostalgic glare. "I don't remember the details for sure, but I think me and my father got kidnapped by the slavers when I was like, two or three, and my dad died like, just a little time after that..." He stopped, but his nostalgic look didn't changed, something that confused Loud a little. Link was telling him his story, but wasn't sad at doing it. That boy was indeed a weird piece.
"After that… My name got lost in my memory. And nobody never even bothered to give me one…" He continued. "And then… that night, ten years ago. That man. He, and his friends, inspired us slaves to fight back. Fight for our freedom."
Loud looked down. They knew who he was talking about.
"I think." He continued. "That we had lost Hope you know… Lost the will." He smiled, reminiscing that night. "He not only saved our hope. He saved our lives. Mine directly. He helped me get off a pile of rubble from a burning hut… I was so scared at the moment… but when he smiled at me and reassured that it would be alright… I… Think something changed in me that moment." Link was smiling, reliving this core moment in his memory. "Something woke there. A love. A love for humanity. A love that I care till this day." Link took a moment to recollect his thoughts.
"I took that man's name that night. To honor what he did to me. And to all of us. I'll never forget that man's name."
" Lincoln." Both the boy and Loud spoke that name. He chuckled.
"Tower also was one the slaves there. He took me under his wing after that. He taught me to read, to use a wrench, and the rest… is history." Both took a moment of silence, observing the sun coming down.
"You were that kid." Loud spoke finally, and another moment of silence ensued.
I'll not allow it being in vain.
N/A: So yeah! The kid Lincoln saved in the past ended up naming himself after his saviour and is future's Link! Tower was also there, but we'll learn mote about him and the twins Haru and Himiko in the future!
This chapter stabilished what lies for the climax that soon will happen in the future arc, with a gas chamber like machine and the knowledge that Blight is still alive!
But what happened to him to be on that half dead state?
That's the question that next chapter will answer! It'll be the LAST chapter in the past arc, so, heads will roll and tears will flow. and the identity of The Last Loud will be revealed!
