When the last body fell, the figure lowered their sword arm, pushed back a hood to reveal flaming red hair and a beautiful face he hadn't seen in too long.
"Natalia?"
The words were a whisper on his lips as his knees buckled beneath him.
Rushing to catch him, she held him tight in her arms, desperate eyes searching his face for hope.
"James, please. Don't do this to me."
He faded in and out a while, until finally, he found focus again and he met her gaze.
"You came back for me."
"Always," she promised him, with a kiss.
