The Masquerade Festival

Cinderella au. Hiccup is a servant to the Bludfist's, with no memory of the first eight years of his life. But when there's a festival at the castle, Hiccup has to go to help a friend. But Drago made it clear that Hiccup was not to attend. With the help of said friend, Hiccup goes to the festival and meets a mysterious, blue-eyed girl. Will Hiccup be able to tell her how he feels?

9. Chapter 7

And so Astrid, the twins, and the royal guards searched across the kingdom and had every man try on the mask. Luckily Berk had lots of burly men, they were able to tell who it wasn't based on appearances alone. Unfortunately, even with the few lanky men the mask didn't fit. They had only made it through a third of the kingdom and were on their way to the next village when the twins got impatient.

"Ugh, this is taking forever!" Tuffnut groaned, laying back against his horse. "Why can't we just ask Fishy for help?".

"Why would we ask Fishlegs for help?" Astrid asked. Tuffnut shrugged, "Maybe because he always entered the festival with mystery dude".

Astrid stopped her horse, stopping all the others behind her, "What!", and turned angrily at the twins. Tuffnut was so startled that he sat straight up while Ruffnut looked ready to kill him. "Ruffnut, did you know this?"

Ruffnut shrugged," I didn't want you to know that I got won over by Fishlegs". As if that was a reasonable excuse.

At Ingerman Manor

The group traveled to Ingerman Manor and Astrid calmly asked Fishlegs where and who the mysterious man was. And by calmly, Astrid meant breaking down the door and tying him up in the greenhouse.

"Who is he!" She yelled at an already terrified Fishlegs. "I - I don't know" he mustered.

"We both know that's a lie Fish" Astrid circled Fishlegs," And both know I'm not above breaking some things"

Fishlegs shivered in his seat," You would never hurt anyone unless it was in self-defense".

"Oh Fishlegs I wouldn't have to hurt anyone, only a few plants", gesturing to the entire room, filled to the brim with plants.

"You wouldn't"

"Try me". Astrid walked over to a small strangely shaped tree. She grabbed a small pot and raised it over her head.

"Who is he?" She said

"No one"

She raised it higher

" I mean, not no one"

Higher.

"Please don't, that's my mother's!"

*Smash*

"Where is he?"

She grabbed another.

"HE LIVES IN BLUDVIST MANOR" Fishlegs yelled out, " and that's all I'll say!".

With that information, Astrid and the others raced to their horses and traveled as fast as they could to Bludvist Manor. But don't worry, Ruffnut kissed him on the cheek for all the trouble.

Bludvist Manor

(Hiccup)

It's the afternoon, and Drago and Eret are drinking tea and planning for their next hunting game, while Snotlout is in town looking for Minden. Now I know what you're thinking, Drago drinks tea? I know, I was surprised myself.

As I was pouring Drago a second cup when Snotlout burst through the door. "You'll never guess what I just heard!". He sat on the seat next to Eret, " The Princess is coming here, to Bludvist Manor".

Eret scoffed, " Enough with jokes, they're not funny". Snotlout shook his head," No I'm being serious, she thinks that the man she met lives here".

An evil grin crept onto Drago's face, " Well in that case, Eret, you and Snotlout must go look your best immediately. She should be here soon. And Hiccup you will help me set up our best china, fit for the princess".

Eret and Snotlout rushed to their rooms leaving me alone with Drago. He took one last sip of his tea before gesturing for me to follow him. We walked down a long hallway, I stopped at the glass cabinet where we kept our china.

"Oh not there my boy," he said," further down the fall is where we keep good the china". My boy? I was so confused but I still followed him. We kept walking until we reached a door at the end of the hall.

Drago opened the door, "Well, go get it". It was really small, more like a closet, and dark with the open door letting in the only light. I took one hesitant step towards it when I felt a large hand forcibly shove me into the room. And I felt the door slam against my back. I could see a bit of light seeping through the bottom of the door with a large shadow.

I tried turning the knob but it was locked, "Uh Drago, I think you locked me in?", his shadow didn't move, "Drago what's going on?"

"What's going on?" I heard him say, "What's going on is that I know that you're the princess mystery man".

I paused, how did he know?

"Ho - How, how do you-"

He cut me off," How do I know, well for one I saw you in the kitchen after the second night dancing the same routine that the princess and he did," he continued " I don't know how you even got to the festival in the first place so I decided to test you, just in case".

"A friend of mine and I followed you on the last night, once we knew you were close I claimed that we were leaving you early to make sure you had less time with the princess" "Not to mention when you crashed into me as you trying to make your escape, now that sealed it"

I'm such an idiot! How did I not notice it was Drago?

"Why am I here?" I asked, "Is it so I have to listen to your monologue?"

He laughed, "No you're in here so you stay away from the princess. Once she realizes her mystery man isn't here she'll be sad and desperate enough to choose one of my sons. Most likely Eret, he's a better choice than Snotlout".

I swallowed, " How long do you plan to keep me here?"

"Until you die of dehydration or after the wedding, whichever comes first," he said coldly. I saw his shadow walk away as I was left trapped in the dark with Astrid so close.
