Mass Effect - The Series takes place five years after the Reaper Invasion which ended when Commander Shepard activated the Crucible, releasing an energy that destroyed every Synthetic form of life in the Galaxy. The first season order consists of 9 episodes.

This is supposed to become a codex of various biological and cultural features of the different sapient races in the ME universe as per the TFHS 'canon'. Mostly, it's an exercise in worldbuilding without much relevance to the story.
