Her wish was granted, one could see a small smile on my face, as she heard the vague distant voices.
Making a wish on the Holy Grail, the Eye of God, the very heart of the Moon Cell as an NPC was definitely not a good idea.
But it's not as if she had a choice, her choice was made for her once she found out what she was and knowing that the fighting would continue until a 'true' victor was found.
Fighting without knowing why just struggling against Fate itself, then once she found out she wasn't even human spurred her even harder to end this war.
Her last 'round' against herself, a clone of her Body, as told to her by her Mind and Soul, with their half deleted Archer spurred her to the wish.
For no more wars for the Holy Grail, an end to the Holy Grail War.
Even Twice another NPC acknowledged her in the end.
Hakuno Kishinami was tired of death.
She was so tired…
But…
Can she just rest now?
"Oh… another one pushed away from a Holy Grail I see?"
The ocean of the Moon shifts as the core's color changes from light to dark blue.A distant voice reaches out to her.
"I can see you're at a crossroad, both ways leading to ruin. But…" the voice began getting even more distant, "What if that wasn't the case?"
… A way to live? Hakuno Kishinami hasn't thought that far…
But…
A small flicker of flame inside of her chest burned a shackle deep within herself twisted to break. Her whole Journey was to survive, the wishes of her Friends pushed her to LIVE.
SHE REFUSES TO GIVE UP!
Her soul raged.
"Good good… Normally… This wouldn't be done. But the Trickster's Journey is stacked against him." Hakuno could feel Something shift in the way the distant voice spoke, "But… tipping the scale just a hair to his side."
Hakuno's Mind began to fizzle out, her Soul quieted down, the strange embers inside comforted her Mind and Soul, the shackle tying her to the Core loosened as her mind began drifting off to sleep.
"With Hope and Progress by his side, The Game will be much more interesting."
2001
Hakuno's first feeling was cold, an unforgiving chill covered her whole body. Her mind raced as fast as her new brain could handle, her Servant gone, her meager Od gone, the crashing waves of the Core gone.
Thousands of thoughts went through her mind.Going from the Mana-Dense Moon Cell Core to the Mana-Starved Texture of Humanity is a shock to her new Soul.Hakuno's response was to Scream.
Afterall, is that not typical for a newborn?
2003
Hakuno was always a quiet child. At least Mash thought. Holding her child in her arms she watched her daughter's bright brown eyes scan their surroundings.
Hakuno barely cried and barely made noise, only when she was hungry or had an accident.
It unnerved her slightly, but she was her daughter. And Mash loved her. But she seemed almost too conscious.
From what she had read and been told most babies cried about anything. Even when Hakuno attempted to crawl and hit her head she just didn't cry. Add in… She looked very little like her and Ritsuka. More like if both sets of grandparents had a child? She understood genetics sometimes makes weird leaps.
Something to think of in the future.
Mash knew that they shouldn't press her, she was still a toddler after all. Being quiet and calm as a toddler could mean anything, maybe it just goes to show that her and Ritsuka were great parents?
Though her weird almost artificial birthmark on her hand unnerved her slightly. But she has had it sense she was born, so it wasn't something to worry about. The doctors checked it over several times before they even left the hospital.
As long as her daughter grew up happy. Mash believed it would all work out.
2006
Hakuno learned that being human was weird.
For someone who was only ever a teenager, being a child is strange, she does wonder if her ability to think clearly is being slightly hampered by her underdeveloped brain.
And the World was a lot younger than the information given to her by the Moon Cell, leading her parents to believe she was a genius of sorts. As long as she kept the facts about her reincarnation? Being brought to life? Hakuno was unsure what it would be counted as. But no one seemed overly weirded out.
Might have to do with how her parent's friends are also slightly weird.
Mash and Ritsuka Kishinami were strange. At least Hakuno thinks. Her parents had every other day off, working for some sort of technology company. She doesn't know too much more than that as they don't talk about work too much when they are home.
Hakuno kept her memories of the Moon Cell close, the small handful of days before her birth kept her sane until she could fully comprehend the world around her.
Hakuno sighed, she did want to be human but…
When all you have to compare is being an AI with humanish memories, then actually being human was just different…
Not bad.. Just unexpected.
Hakuno glanced at her left hand, her parents were worried about her strange 'birthmark'. But Hakuno knew what it represented, without Mana from the Holy Grail, nor her own Od reserves she couldn't contract nor summon a Heroic Spirit, but having it around was comforting.
Perhaps if it came to it she could force a Servant to appear for a brief moment? Hakuno doubted it but hoped it would be the case.
"Come on Haku," Hakuno was grateful her name was the same, "Futaba-chan is coming over, why don't we clean up your room just a bit."
Futaba Isshiki was… interesting? She was incredibly smart for a child, then again Hakuno supposes she herself is one too. Though Hakuno notes that she is effectively cheating as she has the knowledge of a 'perfect' High School student nearly 30 years in the future.
She became friends with her and Kana once they entered the same school, and were quickly shuffled to the side by the rest of their classmates for being 'too smart'. Kana reached out from the rest of her friends to join the two 'geniuses'.
Hakuno huffed,as she began cleaning her distaste for organizing Mystic Codes led to her hating cleaning… If only Archer was here.
Hakuno froze, a Jack Frost plush in her hand, Archer?
That is strange…
Hakuno shrugged as she pushed the thought out of her mind.
She has been getting flashes of the time her Body had during the Moon Cell, it's unnerving but she is able to push it out her head as long as she focuses on other things.
"Hakunnnnnooo!" A small girl with long orange hair came rushing in, tackling down the victor of the moon.
"Did you watch the latest Featherman Movie!?"
Hakuno sighed slightly, a small smile on her lips as she shook her head in the negative. She wasn't too much of a fan of the show, but a part of her developing brain loved the explosions and fights with the heroes coming on top.
"We gotta fix that!" Futaba had somehow already obtained a copy… Hakuno pushed it out of her mind, maybe she recorded it?
Futaba just grinned like a mischievous cat.
Hakuno sighed, always became friends with troublemakers… First Rin and Rani, then Archer with his… Hakuno could feel a headache forming so pushed it away, her Body's memories always give her headaches, did she even have to think on why Nero and Tamamo were troublemakers?
Hakuno shrugged as they put the dvd in, getting comfortable next to Futaba. At least this life was normal. She would be able to live a normal life… without her Servants but with her friends.
2010
Hakuno hated being awake at night. The first time it happened and she noticed it was when she was only 7. She was just sitting talking to her parents as she stubbornly stayed awake to see the New Years. All the electronics froze, and became unresponsive.
Her parents became Coffins.
Every night at Midnight for an extra hour of the day the world just froze with lime green light. Currently sitting in her room with the door shut at the age of 10 for the fear of seeing her parents in coffins again.
Not only that… But Hakuno Hated it when everyone turned into Coffins. The fact the Coffins stood up directly without any support, no one else remembering what happened and the strange monsters on the ground and sliding around the empty halls reminded her of the Moon Cell.
The only small saving grace is the tiny trickle of Od she is able to generate. Even if she doesn't really know how to cast any spell, having it in case of an emergency is a nice thing, she might be able to use it to do something with it. Not too sure what without a mystic code to fuel she does have Heal (16) close to memorized… but without being in the Moon Cell she doubts it would work.
Looking out of her window the world was tinted green from the moon. The only thing that was always surprising was seeing the tower.
It was strange, so far away and only a blip in the distance, but something she could see with her telescope. She didn't dare look at the stars with it, not during this hour of insanity.
She could see the sludge-like beings move on the ground, as long as she stayed inside she could just stay away from them. The way they moved in an almost routine way reminded her of the Enemy Programs she faced in the Moon Cell.
Also the Sakura Labr-
Hakuno shook her head as she got a headache. Sakura was her friend? And as the Medical AI how would she have a labyrinth?
That's when she saw it. Flashes of light at the top of the tower.
The Moon beginning to FALL.
Hakuno froze at the sight, her mind racing as she clutched her hand she could feel the command seal begging to be used to protect her. A strange burning sensation attempted to calm her from somewhere deep inside.
Dozens of Explosions that even without her telescope she could see occurred at the top of the tower as something was happening. She could feel the waves of magical energy being emitted even from the distance she is from it. The World Itself answering to whatever was on top of the tower.
Hakuno had read about very specific Noble Phantasms that could spur the world to helping fuel it, one particular one was one she made sure of to read about Excalibur The Sword of Promised Victory due to its closeness to Excalibur Galatine the Sword of Revolving Victory when she was sure she would have to fight Leo and Gawain.
Something happened as the moon and all the lights froze. Then a blinding light erupted from the moon inches away from the tower.
And then she passed out.
2012
The Extra Hour never happened again.
Several people she vaguely knew about apparently 'woke up' from some sort of disease called Apathy Syndrome?
Perhaps it had something to do with the Extra Hour or the Tower? Without either existing anymore she could only speculate. Hakuno shrugged as she and Futaba got a small order of food in a small cafe.
A few times she attempted to ask Futaba about if she saw the extra hour but every time she looked at her like she was beginning to go crazy.
Hakuno did notice, sort of unnervingly, that she is growing up to look the exact same way as she did in the Moon Cell, long brown hair and brown eyes. A plain face that melds into the crowd and overall one that shows very little emotion.
Sometime, she wasn't too sure of when, but Kana had disappeared from both of their lives leaving just Futaba and Hakuno, both neither managing to make more friends. Futaba due to her shyness and Hakuno due to not really wishing anymore.
"Haku, do you think my mom loves me?" Futaba asked, twirling her straw.
"..." Hakuno thought back to what little she knew of Futaba's mom.
"I think so." Hakuno slowly said while watching her childhood friend. "Where is this coming from?"
Futaba hides her eyes behind her glasses as she doesn't speak for a few moments. "It's just… she doesnt make time for me, she isn't like your parents.." Hakuno notes the small amount of tears, "I just feel like I'm bothering her."
Hakuno places her hand on top of hers. "Futaba, your mom loves you. Don't you remember her talking about going on that vacation? Something about finishing her work first?"
Futaba nodded as she got up to sit next to Hakuno.
"Sorry.. It's just. Something has been eating me…"
Hakuno nodded as she let Futaba rest her head on her shoulder, "It will be alright, why don't you tell me about the new computer you got?"
Hakuno could feel the mood lighten as she began going into her computer specs. Futaba fell in love with computers, hacking and all sorts of things that Hakuno knows of but she is always hesitant to listen to her hacking. Being an AI once upon a time makes her vaguely scared that it would be possible to hack her.
A needless fear she reminds herself as she is human.
That and she does know that mages hacking did lead to humanity discovering the Moon Cell. Maybe she should slowly convince her friend to not do anything to interrupt the giant supercomputer?
She does wonder if the Moon Cell even exists, but if it did it would have for sure recorded the information about the extra hour of time and she doesn't recall anything of the sort. It was called the Eye of God after all, she doubts an Extra Hour of the day would be able to hide from its gaze.
"Did you hear that Risette is going to be retiring?" Futaba mumbled, Hakuno was vaguely aware who Risette was, a popular Idol only a few years older than the two girls. "Something about going to work with some family in Inaba."
Hakuno nodded and checked her watch, "Come on Futaba, we should get going, the movie is about to start."
"Woohoo!" Futaba jumped, as Hakuno just shook her head.
It is nice being human.
2013
Hakuno was now avoiding touching Televisions. Mash noted, her child had a few strange quirks. As she was a normally stoic girl showed an actual grimace whenever she had to touch one, perhaps she shocked herself?
Years ago she was terrified of the nights, her normally stoic face showed shock when they stayed up to watch the New Years happen. Attempting to comfort her led nowhere as she refused to talk about it.
She and Ritsuka agreed silently they would make sure that one of them stays home to make sure she doesn't stay up that late again, and for the most part it worked? But for the last few years it seems she has gotten over her fear of night, and replaced it with hesitance of touching TVs.
Perhaps they should take her to see a therapist? She wasn't too sure what to make up of it. Perhaps it's a weird rebellious phase?
Mash remembers fondly of the time when Ritsuka was in his strange teenage phase of writing complicated time travel stories with the two of them as the main characters. Her being his knight in shining armor.
Perhaps she could ask Wakaba for some advice? She has transferred to work in the same labs, and Futaba and Hakuno are close, perhaps Futaba let something slip?
Or perhaps she could ask Tomita? His daughter Ann is near Hakuno's age… Maybe when they come back from Finland she could talk to them and introduce Hakuno to her cousin.
Mash shook her head, something for them to talk about later. Afterall, Ritsuka should be coming home soon, and it was her turn to cook.
Perhaps she should make some Anmitsu afterwards?
2014
Futaba's mom has passed away.
Hakuno and her family stood with the grieving Futaba as she cried into the taller girl.
Hakuno was unsure of what to do as she held the slightly smaller girl. All Hakuno could do was hope that Futaba's Uncle would treat the young girl right… In a different town, away from her.
Her uncle refused to tell her family where they lived.
'Clean separation' as he claimed.
Hakuno could feel her heart squeeze as her friend cried.
The AI turned human didn't know how to help her best friend.
Emotions still came hard to her.
"Futaba…"
"Hakuuuu." Futaba continued to cry into her as Hakuno rubbed the slightly younger girl's back.
A coughing sound was heard as several people wearing black suits came into the room. Hakuno felt they were off. She wasn't too sure why she thought that.
"If you would excuse me, we must speak to Miss Isshiki alone with her appointed guardian. It has to do with the estate."
A man off to the side with a white trilby spoke up, "Does this have to happen now?"
One of the suits glared at him, "Yes, there are some problems that need to be addressed."
Hakuno gave one more deep hug as she wiped the tears from her eyes, "Futaba, if you ever need me, I'll be there for you."
Futaba nodded, "Mm."
That was the last time Hakuno saw Futaba.
Author's Note: I dont know what i'm doing.
Futaba X Hakuno sounded cute in my head. And well.
Ive been binging Persona 5 shit. No idea when/if ill continue it for more than a few chapters. Only putting years to show time will stop once we get into Main Persona 5.
Not even 100% sure what Arcana Maybe Star, Death or Aeon. Not even sure what Persona she could even have.
Though our little Hakuno is for sure a Rebel. Rebelling against her very creation has gotta count.
Note, Akira/Ren is in the story, but the story will mainly focus on Hakuno though not to sure which name to give him. I like both. I like Ren soley for RenRen tho. So maybe ill go with Akira.
Ann and Hakuno are cousins from the fact that i'm thinking Mash is actually half Japanese in this timeline as her Father originally came from Britain, I know Ann is a quarter American but shrug.
But Persona 5 is probably my second favorite game other than the entire Fate series soooooo we will see how long I can keep up.
