It was now 975 R.E. Six years had passed since Aurora's blossoming. Multiple people knew she was the Starchild. However, being a princess and the Starchild wasn't all it was cracked up to be. When Aurora was three, her father died after an intruder poisoned him. Ever since then, Serafina became overprotective of Aurora. She took drastic measures in order to protect her daughter. Aurora wasn't allowed to leave the castle on her own, or go to school. She didn't communicate through the Starweb. She never even had any friends. Aurora said she loved her life in the castle, but deep down, she wasn't happy.
It was the day before her sixth birthday. It was by Starling code that the Starchild wand would be given to the new reincarnation once they turned six. Aurora was exploring around the castle. For fun, she headed to the castle's animal sanctuary. There lived exotic creatures of Starlia such as red panda birds, water phoenixes, and meowniflies (unicorn-butterfly cats). Normally, she would always try to sneak into the exhibits, but there was an alarm that went off every time someone was spotted. That was so Serafina could prevent Aurora from hurting herself. So, Aurora just decided she would look today. One of the meowniflies flew out of it's sanctuary, and landed right in front of Aurora. It was really cute. It was an orange tabby cat with pink-purple hair and a unicorn tail and golden horn, in addition to rainbow butterfly wings. Meowniflies were affectionate creatures, and they really loved people. While Aurora played with it, one of the maids walked by calling out, "Miss Aurora, where are you?" the maid asked. "I'm right here." Aurora waved. The maid walked over. She took the meownifly and put it back in its sanctuary. "Your mother asked me to call you. She's waiting for you in the Throne Room." The maid said. Aurora walked to her mother's throne room.
Serafina was a very kind woman, and Aurora loved her very much. The problem was, Aurora wanted to go out and explore what Starlia had to offer, not be locked away in a castle hiding from it all. Aurora met her mother in the throne room. Serafina stood on the throne, with a smile on her face. She had long purple hair that went down to her legs, indigo eyes, tan skin, a beautiful cyan dress with gems, and a golden crown with a blue diamond in the center. Serafina stood up. "Aurora, tomorrow is a very special day for you. You know what it is?" She asked. "Of course Mom, it's my birthday and my Glistening." Glistening was the term used when referring to the wand being passed down. "Right. Anyway, I was wanting to ask you what kind of special courses you'd like to take for wand practicing, and what kind of tutors who can help you, and-" Aurora interrupted by saying, "Mom, what about my party? For the Glistening, there's always a party!" She said while jumping up and down. "Oh, sweetie, we're not doing that." "What?! Why?" Aurora asked. "Sweetie, I really don't think having a party is a good idea. You'll be able to have fun with me and the staff. They'll make some muffins, and you can get the wand after some pin the tail on the pandabird." Serafina said. Aurora just looked at her angrily, and then stormed off.
Aurora sat in her room for hours, crying. It was all so unfair, she thought. Why couldn't she have the party she wanted? Why couldn't she make new friends? Why couldn't she leave the castle? Aurora loved her mother, but she often disagreed with her parenting. Other kids her age had birthday parties they wanted, made new friends, and could leave their homes whenever they liked. She, on the other hand, felt like a prisoner. In addition, Aurora hated Serafina's idea for the glistening. She felt like her own mother didn't know her. She didn't like muffins, and she hated "pin the tail on the pandabird". Just then, she heard some scratching coming through her bedroom's vents. She got a bit nervous. What was in there? Was it a rat, a hydracoon, or something stranger? The vent then burst open. Aurora screamed in fright. However, when she saw what the object was, she calmed down. It was the meownifly from earlier!
"Hello there, little baby. How'd you get here?" Aurora asked. The meownifly walked up to Aurora's leg and started rubbing on it. It's mane started to change to full pink, signifying affection. "Aww, aren't you a cute thing?" She asked. Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Aurora, can I come in?" the person asked. "Sure." she responded, slouching. The door opened to reveal Serafina, while the meownifly hid in fright. "Hi, baby. Now, I know you're upset about the Glistening, and I've been thinking." Serafina began to say. "Look, Mom, I know since Dad's death you've been a bit overprotective with me, but when we were little, you promised I could have the Glistening I wanted." Aurora said. "Yes, so I've decided we can have it." Serafina said. "I know but - wait, what did you say?" Aurora asked. "I said we can have the party." Aurora crossed her arms. "You're playing with me now. Is this a prank?" Aurora looked around for cameras. "No, no prank. I've decided that if you're old enough to inherit the wand, you're old enough to have the party. We can have it." Serafina confirmed. Aurora then happily hugged her mother and kissed her, saying thank you.
That night, Aurora contemplated what her mother said. Serafina would have never allowed Aurora to have a birthday party. But since it was the Glistening, she couldn't say no. Aurora wondered what her mother had in mind. Eventually, she fell asleep, lost in these thoughts.
