After detransforming in private, Amira rushed to grab her things from the empty classroom. She sighed in relief when she found that her stuff hasn't been taken or disturbed.
"Amira Cesaire? Is that you?" A woman with blonde hair approached. Her hair was styled into cornrows, her ends fading into a rainbow. A gentle smile graced her face. The girl standing next to her was not as friendly looking. She had a permanent scowl on her face and her eyes gazed with disgust. She wouldn't expect less from Lucia's best friend.
"It's Lahiffe, actually."
"Oh, right, I'm sorry." The blonde apologized, "I don't know if you remember me but I'm Maria's mother, Mylene."
"Yeah, it's good to see you again, Mrs. Bruel." She didn't actually remember her, but it was rude to say it to her face.
"You used to come over to our house all the time. Play dates, sleepovers, movie nights." The woman went on and on. Maria looked embarrassed and didn't want to be near her mom, "How's your father doing?"
"He's fine. I have to get going now so…" Amira was hoping she would get the hint and leave her alone.
"Right, I was just wondering if you wanted to come to Maria's birthday this friday."
"But Mom! I don't want her ther-"
"Of course you do, she's your friend." Mylene waved her daughter's objection off and pulled something from her purse, it was an invitation to a party. "I would understand if you can't come or you're busy, but it would mean alot to us if you came to it." Maria gave her a weary stare, not sharing her mother's sentiment.
"I'll have to ask my dad first." She took the invitation and shoved it in her backpack.
"Right, and he's welcome to come as well. We'll have a little get together for the adults, it's been too long since we all got together."
"Thanks, I should be going now."
"Tell your father I said hello!"
"I will."
Mylene nudged her daughter forward who looked as awkward as Amira was feeling, "Bye or whatever."
Amira waved awkwardly back at the girl, then walked away as fast as her legs could travel. As she traveled, she cut across a nearby park. She found an empty bench and took out her notebook as well as her pencil pouch. She shifted through pages of drawings and scribbles
"These are lovely." Tikki peeked from her bag, nibbling on a chocolate chip cookie, "You must be very talented."
She shrugged, "They're just sketches. Can I ask you something?"
"Sure, I can tell you anything you would like. I can even tell you how the universe began if you asked."
"Wait, really?" She forgot that Tikki was a tiny god in the body of a magical girl style mascot. "No wait, I want to know who's the guardian?"
Tikki's smile shifted to a dark frown, "She is not the guardian, she never will be a true guardian, not like…" the kwami stopped talking as if she was thinking of past memories,
"So it's a lie."
"Not quite." Tikki explained, "The Guardian of the Miraculous is real, but the title has not been transferred correctly. So at the present there is no Guardian."
"Guess I should refuse Carnivore's offer." She thumped her pencil against the notebook paper.
"And what about the invitation?" Tikki read off the slim piece of paper. "A night of fun and celebration for Maria Vanya Bruel. I haven't been to a party in centuries!" With Tikki, Amira was sure h wasn't exaggerating.
"I don't know, parties aren't my thing." She glanced at the invite, "Especially after the last time."
"I'm guessing it didn't go so well?"
She chuckled, "More than that, it was a disaster." The last time she was at a party, it had been her own birthday. It ended in a lot of screaming, arguing, and even a vase thrown. She had to comfort her little sister in her crib as her parents clashed with each other downstairs.
"You can't hide from something just because of a bad experience. Parties are meant to be enjoyed, festivals of joy and community, to be celebrated together." Tikki encouraged. She did have a point.
"Gifts are required upon entry." She frowned as she looked at the sparkly writing, "And it's on Wednesday, two days from now." She turned to Tikki, "Got any quick ideas?"
"I have something in mind."
"It's just another left up ahead, right?"
Amira nodded as she felt her stomach turn into knots, sitting in the car seat. She glanced at the street, taking in the
"I'm sure she'll love it, dear." Nino gave an encouraging smile, "You put in a lot of effort the last couple of days and nights." he noticed the dark circles under his daughter's eyes.
"I feel like I'm giving her paper mache." She grumbled."Maybe I should've gotten her jewelry."
"Don't say that, it's good you're getting back to your hobbies like the Miss Mischief costume you made for Nessa."
"You saw that?"
"I saw the instagram post that was posted, it was really good, it reminded me of a friend." He stopped as a somber look came over him, then faded away as he stopped the car. "Oh look here we are."
Amira stepped out of the car, it was a mansion, a large stone mansion that was enclosed by a black pristine gate.
"Are-are you sure this is the right place?" Amira asked. The party couldn't be here, could it? This was a mansion meant for a ball or fancy gala!
"That's what the invite says." He grumbled, "Almost like old times."
"Nino!" Adrien gave the man a big hug as an intimidating and strong looking man stood behind him.
"Adrien, it's been too long, dude!"
"It's good to see you too, how's ex model life treating you?" Nino playfully bumped his shoulder.
"Too much paperwork, too little time to myself." Adrien chuckled, "At least I have Lila and Lucia to lighten the load." He turned his gaze to Amira. "You must be Amira, I remember when you were just a little girl. I'm Adrien Agreste."
"It's nice to meet you, Mr Agreste."
"Please, Mr. Agreste was my father, call me Adrien." He laughed, "Come on in, the party's starting inside."
The inside was more grand than the outside. It was well kept and well decorated. Streamers and balloons were placed around the front entrance, loud music came from the speakers, and wooden tables were stationed with food that included homemade dishes and store bought dishes.
"The kids are hanging out in the ballroom if you want to join them. It's down the hall and to the left." Adrien gestured to one of the halls, "Gorilla can take your gift."
"Thanks." She handed the small wrapped up present to the muscled man who surprisingly held it gently despite his calloused and rough looking hands.
As she walked, her eyes spotted a woman with a blonde pixie cut, a man with bright red hair, and even the mayor of Paris was there. Her eyes glanced around and she recognized the famous model and Kitty Section band member: Juleka Couffaine. Amira began to panic as the dark haired woman began to walk towards them. She was not prepared to meet the woman she had cut out and glued into many sketchbooks. Look, she had a thing for rock star models, alright?
"Nino, it's good to see you. And you must be Amira."
"It-it's very nice to meet you, madame. I really like your music and your costumes. I was really sad when your brother chose to leave the band but I still think you sound amazing." She nervously spoke, her face flushed as she met one of her idols.
"Thank you, that's very kind of you." Amira could die happy knowing her smile was directed towards her.
"How are you and Rose doing? I know things have been tough since…you know."
"We're doing okay." Her smile was sad, "Luka has been distant but we've recently reconnected, He's at home, taking care of our five year old."
Amira wondered if they really were in the same class. So many talents and stars in a single room, this party was feeling more like a gala than a reunion.
"Amira, why don't you go hang out with the other kids? I'm sure your friends will want to see you. So what has my best friend been up to lately?" Amira watched as her father walked off with Adrien. She nodded though internally sweated as she was steered towards Maria and her group.
"Oh great, you're here." Lucia scoffed, "And of course you brought your dumpster fashion sense with you."
Amira didn't acknowledge her, instead she spoke to Maria, "Happy birthday, Maria."
"Thank you, though nothing will compare to having my party at the Agreste Manor. This going all over my Instagram page."
"Of course, anything for my bestie."
This was going to be a long night, wasn't it?
Maria's party also served as a semi casual reunion for the former akuma class. They sat in the foyer, talking among themselves and catching up on the years they had without each other.
"So how's life as president of
"Lila's great, Lucia is growing up, she even got into modeling. I did advise her that she could have other hobbies, but I guess it runs in the family." Adrien at least tried to steer her towards other interests, but she was incredibly adamant on being a model.
"Where's Lila? I was hoping to talk to her about organizing some events for Kitty Section in the future." Rose asked from her comfortable spot, hanging by Juelka's legs as they sat on the couch.
"I spoke to her earlier." Adrien responded, "She's busy with some charity events, but she said to enjoy the party without her."
"She's so inspiring, you and her were made for each other." Rose dramatically sighed, even as an adult she was still a sucker for romance.
Adrien said nothing, instead he looked down at his wedding ring. They were perfect together, that's what everyone said. Yet somewhere in his heart told him that wasn't the truth.
"Have any of you heard from Alya?"
The former class of Mrs. Bustier remained silent, some even shook their heads. Things had been rocky since the divorce, the reporter had gone into a downward spiral
"It was all his fault! Lila told me she saw Nino with another girl!" Lila had told them it was a misunderstanding, Lila never lied, Alya had just misunderstood what she said.
Mylene had felt guilty about Ivan throwing their former friend from their home, but her husband had soothed her afterwards saying it was for the best. They couldn't have a thief under their roof. "I'm sorry for stealing but I just need some money, please!"
"You have to fix this! I've been blacklisted from every news publishing house in all of France! I can't see my daughters anymore! You're the mayor now!" Sabrina shuddered at the bad memory, seeing Alya grovel in a pathetic attempt to order her around. She wasn't going to let herself be pushed around again.
"I don't know what happened to her." Rose sniffed, "She used to be so brave, and loyal, and good, just like Marinette."
Everyone in the area went dead silent as their dead classmate's name was spoken. It was the first time in years someone finally spoke her name. Adrien took a swing of his drink, Nino slumped his head towards the floor, hiding the somber look on his face. The only one visibly crying was Rose who was being comforted by Juelka. Much like Nino, Sabrina stared down at her drink, trying to push away the bad thoughts.
The front door suddenly slammed open to reveal a blonde haired woman wearing fashionable clothing.
"You thought you could have a reunion without me, did you?" The woman strutted into the room with an accusing tone.
The akuma class all went pale and looked at each other with the same thought: Who invited Chloe Bourgeois to the party?
The room was fuming with tension as Chloe's silhouettes clicked along the marble floor.
"Well, aren't you all glad to see me?" The blonde said with a razor sharp smile.
"No, we're not." Alix gritted her teeth, "Aren't you supposed to be another continent away?"
"I was in New York, running my fashion magazine after turning Style Queen into my empire and of course living in luxury with my darling son." The blonde haired boy standing next to her on his phone, bored and uninterested in the conversation.
"You have a son? What poor soul decided to sleep with you?" Kim scoffed as Sabrina took a large swing of her wine.
"If you must know, he's a test tube baby. Only the best genes for my Leokins." She pinched his cheeks which earned a swipe from the annoyed boy.
"We're all happy to see you here. The kids are in the other room if he wants to join them." Adrien gestured down the same hall Amira just went down.
"Go on, Leo." She gently pushed him forward which made him huff and give an irritated look towards her. But he walked with reluctance.
"So how have your lives been?" She grabbed the open wine bottle, then poured some into a glass. "I'm curious because it's been too long since we've seen each other."
"We're doing a lot better than we were when you were here."
"I doubt it." She rolled her eyes. "Things were a lot more exciting when I was in town."
"You teamed up with a terrorist." Juelka gave Chloe a death glare, "Multiple times."
"An unfortunate incident of my youth." She said as if bullying the majority of the class, deliberately causing a train crash for praise from a superhero, and willingly aiding a terrorist was just a footnote in a story. "My therapist knows all about it."
"You going to therapy? That's rich."
"We should hear her out." Adrien tried to mediate the situation, "Maybe she has changed."
"There is a 20% chance she's actually changed." Max huffed. "Which is a very low probability."
It had taken Amira 5 minutes to excuse herself and leave the one sided conversation. She decided to take a walk, thinking it might be a good idea to clear her head. Instead she found the hallways confusing and impossible to navigate.
"How can one mansion have so many rooms?!" She shouted, her voice echoing through the empty hall. "This place is a labyrinth!"
"This mansion is very beautiful, though very intimidating towards someone who hasn't been here before." Tikki noted, she had come along in her purse, in case of an attack.
"Did you have any holders who lived like this?" Amira asked Tikki.
"A few, though they were often miserable and depressed in such places. Their houses were more of a prison than homes."
"Yeah, I don't think I could stay in a place like this. Way too many rooms for me to count."
"Do you even know where we're going?"
"Yes?" This response made Tikki chuckle.
"Okay, so I might be lost." In Amira's defense, all the hallways looked the same to her. The lively atmosphere turned cold as she wandered around, hoping to find something or hear someone to indicate she was going the right direction.
She entered a room, hoping it was the right one. Instead of a living room or a gaming room, it was an empty office. It was vacant and the furniture was gathering dust. Resting on one of the walls, a large, extravagant portrait of a blonde haired woman stared her down with a kind smile.
"Creepy." The room felt barren, void of anything. No color, no light, no anything. Except for the painting, but even that felt off like light shining in a room where it shouldn't be.
"What are you doing in here?" Amira turned around to see the exact same woman from the painting standing behind her. Though she looked older, had a few more wrinkles, and gray strands, beyond that she looked beautiful.
"Are you a ghost?" She asked, her eyes darting back and forward between the painting and the woman.
She chuckled, "No, I'm very much real and alive. I'm Emilie Agreste." She shook her hand.
"Amira Lahiffe. I was trying to find the restroom and couldn't find my way back?" Amira wasn't about to admit she had wandered off on purpose and ended up getting lost as a result.
"Oh, you must be here for Maria's party." Emilie smiled, showing off a full row of shiny white teeth, "When my son suggested using the mansion for my granddaughter's friend's party, I agreed with him, this place needs more life in it ever since we moved out."
"You don't live here?"
"No, I just own the property, we actually live a couple blocks away in a much smaller place."
"Then why hold on to it?" It must be a pain to take care of constantly with how big the mansion seemed but she wasn't going to say that out loud.
"Well, this place holds a lot of bad memories, tragedy and pain have made this place unlivable for us. My husband held too tightly to that and it drove him mad." Her eyes held a sense of mourning and regret, "But that doesn't mean we can't use it to make new and better memories like hosting a party for a family friend. Do you understand what I'm saying?"
Amira nodded, she felt a similar way whenever she thought of her parents' original house. Before she moved out with her dad, she only thought of the awful fights, arguments, and tangled strains that they went through. She was curious to see what had happened to that old place. Did her mom sell it? Keep it? Was her old room in good condition? Or being used by a stranger?
A scream echoed through the place, making Amira jump. Both Amira and Emilie arrived in the party room to find Lucia screaming at the top of her lungs with a startled Leo on the other end of her wrath.
"He spilled punch all over my new outfit!" Lucia's pristine white shirt had a small splotch of pink on it.
"It was an accident." Leo looked offended and slightly uncomfortable at how loud her voice was.
"An accident?! You did that on purpose!"
"Let's calm down now. I'm sure he didn't mean it."
"It's just a shirt, you can always wash it out and dry it out. No need to make a big scene. "Leo tsked. Amira couldn't help but agree, it looked easy to clean from where she was standing.
"That's not the point! This is expensive and probably worth more than your whole house." She scoffed, "I bet you came here in a dirty taxi."
"Are you really talking to my son that way?" Chloe snapped.
Lucia went pale as she realized who she was screaming at, Amira wanted to so badly snap a picture of the auburnette's face.
"How about we open some gifts?" Adrien steered his daughter away who looked on the verge of exploding.
"Fine." Maria turned to the giant pile of presents.
Amira half paid attention to the unwrapping, keeping her eye on Leo. She walked over to him. His mother glanced at her as she approached, but said nothing.
"Hey, I don't think you did it on purpose. She's always been a diva, probably just wanted to grab some attention." He had a small look of surprise as she said this, but then he returned to his neutral face.
He grumbled, "Thanks, she screamed like a fox."
"Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if she was related to one."
"You're from New York, right? What's that like?"
He shrugged, "It's fine, plenty of traffic, plenty of tourists."
"You plan on staying here long?"
"Depends on my mom. She's the reason we came here in the first place."
"Oh, what does she do for work?"
He looked confused by her question, "You don't know-"
"What the heck is this?" Amira watched as Maria held up the jewelry she had made. "Who got me dollar store jewelry?"
It was a small golden necklace with the charms of the masks of comedy and tragedy on it. She knew her mother was an actress (with her father being her bodyguard) and Maria had some extra roles in her film. From her general knowledge, Amira knew Maria was apart of the drama club as well and performed on stage. She thought it would be nice for Maria to have something related to the theater.
Maria held up the tag that came with the gift, "Of course it's from Amira. She's so poor she couldn't even get me a proper present."
"Excuse me?" Amira felt like running over and slapping her.
"Maria, that is not very nice. Apologize." Both Mylene and Ivan took a stone cold stare at Maria, but that didn't faze her.
"What? Why? It's the truth. Her dad is a bum, her parents are separated, and she's a loser. No wonder she only has the mermaid for a friend."
Before Amira could shout out how much of a jerk Maria was acting, someone else beat her to it.
"You little brat!" Nino shouted, surprising everyone around him, "My daughter worked hard on your gift! She made that necklace over several days. You should be grateful that she put time and effort into it!" Her dad never shouted at anyone like that in years. Amira had never seen him so angry except when he was arguing with her mom.
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry. Amira said to herself as she tried to keep her emotions in check.
"AKUMA!" There it was, the purple butterfly was fluttering around the room as the people began to panic.
But it didn't go to Amira. It went for her father.
"DAD!" She watched as her father crumbled to the floor, clutching his head as a neon purple hue covered his face.
"Nino, you can fight it. I know you can." Adrien attempted to reach his best friend.
"Bubbler, your anger towards the birthday girl is justified. She slandered your name and your family's but most importantly she insulted your daughter. That is a crime no parent should let go unpunished."
"How would you know anything about being a parent?"
"I know very well. I too know the pain of trying to protect my child, but failing to do so."
Amira stood by her father, "Don't let her win!"
"I'm sorry for being a horrible dad, you must hate me for being such a disappointment." Nino sobbed, "I failed Marinette and now I've failed my own kids!"
"Dad, don't say that." She gasped and stepped back as purple began to cover her.
"But I'll make things right, I promise."
Amira knew it was foolish, but she chose to run as the akuma stood in place of her own father. There was only one person who could help him now and that was Miss Chance.
"Now, now. Don't run." The Bubbler looked less goofy than his first appearance. His face had blue face paint with a red circus overcoat and yellow striped tights. He resembled a clown, a circus performer, even his weapon was a comically large bubble wand. "The party is just getting started!"
He waved his wand around and Adrien found himself in a bubble.
"Nino, please stop! You don't have to do this!" He shouted from the ascending bubble.
"Bad children have to be punished. You may not have been one of them, but I can't have you get in my way."
"Nino!" He pounded against the bubble's walls, but it was no use as Nino ignored his pleas and used a bubble to fly off.
"Mr. Agreste! Are you alright?" Miss Chance sprinted towards him.
"Yes, I am fine. Thank goodness we're indoors." Adrien sat in the bubble as he floated above the ground, the bubble hover below the roof.
"I'll get you down, sir." She glanced around for some way to get him down, then she spotted a chair. Using her strength, she broke off a leg and swung it towards the bubble.
POP! The bubble burst and Adrien began to fall.
Miss Chance caught him before he fell to the ground.
"Thank you, Lady-I mean Miss Chance."
"You're welcome, sir." She was now aware how awkward it must look holding a grown adult in her arms, so she gently helped him to the ground. "You should get to safety, Mr. Agreste."
"Wait, why don't you wait until the Miraculous Squad arrives? Surely you can't take him on your own."
"I can' longer I wait, the more of a risk the akuma becomes." Besides, they weren't very helpful.
"That's not true. Do you know Ladybug? She must have been the one to give you the miraculous, are you in contact with her?"
"No offense, sir. But even if I knew who Ladybug was, I still wouldn't tell you her location." Miss Chance was getting annoyed by how pushy he was being. She rushed off, leaving Adrien alone in the empty ruined room.
Miss Chance ran through the halls, using whatever she could to help the people out of the bubbles. She had gotten some strange looks from the former akuma class, even some comments and questions.
"Are you really the Ladybug holder?"
"Do you know Ladybug? Were you trained by her?"
Did she say anything about Lila? She was her best friend back in the day."
There was that name again, Lila. Amira would have to ask Tikki about her when her father saved.
"Let me out of here, you circus reject!" She heard familiar screeching and immediately groaned. Honeycomb was wailing from inside of her bubble as Bubbler smirked.
"I thought you would put up more of a fight, but then again bee heroines tend to be disappointing."
"Miss Chance." She heard her name being whispered and she turned to see Chloe waving her over to one of the toppled over tables. Miss Chance snuck over to her and noticed Leo was also with her.
"I can see my replacement isn't doing her job properly." She scoffed, glaring at the bee holder, "And I thought I was bad."
"You were a bee miraculous holder?"
"A short term occupation." She waved it off as if wielding one of the miraculous was a part time summer job.
"Alright, what would you suggest?"
"I can distract him, get him to pay attention to me, while you summon your lucky charm and grab the akuma in whatever overly complicated Ladybug-esque plan you have in that hero brain of yours."
"Will it work?"
"I'm very good at getting on people's nerves, it's a talent of mine." She said smugly.
"Ok?" Amira wasn't sure if that was something to be proud of.
"Perfect. Oh, I expect to get an interview from you for doing this."
"What? No! I'm not-"
"Too late." Chloe smiled as she stepped out of her hiding spot, "Hey Bubbler!"
"What do you want?"
"I demand that you let us go! Did you forget who I am? I am Chloe Bourgeois, Queen of Fashion and I-
"You really shouldn't-
Chloe cut him off, "Don't you dare interrupt me! I know Lahiffe is still in there and he knows better than to threaten someone! I understand standing up for your child, but this is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous!"
"Wow, she's good."
"For once, she's using her powers for good." Leo mumbled as his mother continued to argue with the Bubbler.
"Lucky charm." She silently summoned her object. It was a giant sewing needle. Both Miss Chance and Leo stared at it.
"Huh, this is the straightforward charm I've gotten so far." Miss Chance gripped the needle tightly, "Stay here."
She crept around as Chloe was still badgering Bubbler. Without a word, Bubbler swung his wand and trapped Chloe in a bubble.
"Hey, I was talking-" He summoned another bubble, her voice didn't get through two layers of bubbles.
"That ought to shut you up-Hey!" POP! The bubble that held Honeycomb vanished as Miss Chance jabbed the needle into it.
"You little-"
"Venom!" Before Bubbler could react, Honeycomb paralyzed him with her spinning top.
"Sorry about this, it will get fixed." Miss Chance grabbed his glasses off his face and smashed it onto the ground.
"Miraculous Miss Chance!"
"Good job, newbie." Honeycomb waved off Miss Chance. "You were actually useful today."
"Excuse me? She did all the work, you got yourself bubbled." Chloe remarked, "What kind of Queen Bee gets herself stuck in a bubble? I never did."
"Whatever, old lady."
"Old lady? Old lady!?" Chloe shouted, her anger fueled by the younger bee heroine's insult, "I will have you know I am only 3-"
"Oh my gosh, Honeycomb!" Several of Amira's classmates surrounded the bee heroine, distracting her with autographs and pictures.
"Poser." Leo scowled, "She didn't even do anything."
Miss Chance said nothing, instead she was focused on her father.
"Are you okay, da-I mean sir?" She wasn't Amira, she was Miss Chance. Miss Chance didn't know her father.
"I think so. I can't believe I got myself akumitized again."
"It's not your fault, you were taken advantage of by Chrysalis." The ladybug heroine reassured. "
"But I- wait, my daughter! Have you seen my daughter?" His pity turned to panic as he looked around.
"I'm sure she's safe, now I've got to bug out. Can you take care of him in the meantime?" Miss Chance asked Chloe.
"I guess I can see to Lahif-I mean Nino reunites with his kid."
"Thanks, bug out!"
"She's so cool." Leo said as he browsed through the pictures of Miss Chance he took.
"Make sure to send that one to me, I've got an article idea." Chloe pointed to one of them and he nodded.
After detransforming in one of the closets, she stepped out and ran towards her dad.
"Dad! I was so scared!" Amira hugged him, "Did you get hurt?"
"Nevermind about me, I didn't catch you, did I?"
"No, no I stayed hidden."
"Good, I just wanted to say, I can understand if you hate me or think I'm a bad dad."
"What? No! I could never hate you!" Amira shouted, "I
"I believe Maria owns me and my daughter an apology."
"And so does Lucia for shouting at my son." Chloe stepped forward, "Where is she? It shouldn't take this long to change a shirt."
"Hold on, that isn't necessary. She didn't mean those words, they're just kids, right?"
"Seriously, dude?!" Nino let his usually calm demeanor fade, "I was akumitized because of her hateful words and Leo didn't deserve to be screamed at by Lucia for an accident!"
"Nino, I-"
"I know you, but just because your father was an asshole doesn't mean you can just let your daughter's actions go without punishment." Chloe explained, "Children need to be disciplined or they end up like me."
Adrien looked ready to object, but instead spoke, "I guess you're right. I'll find her."
"Wow, I don't think I've heard my mom swear before." Leo snickered.
"Yes, I did and I will never do it again." Chloe huffed, "Gabriel deserved it."
Amira laughed and looked around the room for any remaining damage. Then she spotted something. It was a portrait, half covered by a curtain. From where she was standing, she could make out a man with cold eyes wearing all white, except for his candy cane striped tie. It was much creepier than Emilie's portrait, causing a shiver to go down her spine.
"Hey." She nearly jumped at Leo's voice, "You want to ditch the party and grab some gelato? My mom's treat."
"You good with that, dad?"
Nino glanced at Chloe who shrugged, a non vocal way of saying 'your choice.'
"Yeah, I'm good with that. Got anywhere in mind?"
"Anything is fine as long as it's not Andre's sweethearts ice cream." Chloe cringed, "He said I could only love myself."
"Yeah, that kind of stuff was ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." Both kids were confused as Nino laughed, but Chloe huffed. Though the small smile on her face lightened the mood.
A/N: DOUBLE UPDATE! Over the last couple of days, I actually had time to revise the last chapter and also write this one. I never liked Bubbler's design (or most of the akumas) like goodness sake Gabriel you are a fashion designer! You should know better! For Bubbler, I decided to go with circus performer/clown but kept the original color scheme and the large bubble wand.
As always reviews, favs, and follows are appreciated.
Until next time, FallenFairy20
