"The court is now in session for the trial of the Renegade Time Lord known as the Master, accused of murder of Captain and the thief and the Crown Jewels. The defendant here, how do they plead?"

"Your honour, even if it may be a shock, especially for those who know me well, but I plead not guilty.

"Very well, the Prosecution may begin with their opening statement." the Judge said.

A tall, blonde man wearing a light brown military uniform stood up. "Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, as you may know, we're here today to seek justice about the disappearance of the Crown Jewels and murder of our fallen comrade. The Prosecution calls in its first witness!"

The soldier stood up and went to the witness stand.

"Witness, state your name and occupation." the Prosecutor said.

"Quelinn Sojo, one of the guards of the Crown Jewels." Quelinn said.

"Well then, Mr. Sojo, according to the investigations, you were the first person to arrive at the crime scene, correct?"

"Indeed." Quelinn said. "I was doing some desk work I had to do, until I heard a glass breaking."

"And when you checked, you found the Jewels missing, with the defendant unconscious on the floor and the victim nearby, is that correct?" the Prosecutor asked.

Quelinn nodded. "Yes, that is right. The defendant held the murder weapon, a spear, in his hands."

"As you see, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the reading is on the wall: The defendant here is definitely the culprit, and I invite the jury to-"

"OBJECTION!" the Doctor said. "Slow down! I haven't even started the cross-examination!"

"Sustained." the Judge said, "The Prosecution will refrain from giving hurry to the jury. The Defense may start with their statement."

"Thank you, Your Honour." the Doctor said. "Well then, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, even if it wouldn't be surprising for the defendant to be the culprit, I must announce that he, in fact, has been framed by the real culprit and at the moment…They're inside this courtroom!"!"

The jury and the Judge gasped.

"Preposterous!" The Prosecutor said.

"Oh, "Preposterous!" "Preposterous!", but I can assure you, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, that my claim preposterous sure is not!" the Doctor affirmed.

"With what evidence do you make this claim?" The Judge asked, curious.

"Very simple, Your Honour, but first, allow me to summarise once again this case." the Time Lord cleared his voice, "According to the "current" reconstruction of the story, the Master came here to steal the Crown Jewels, murdered the a that guarded them, is that correct?"

"Indeed." the Judge said.

"However, there are various discrepancies with the narrative." the Doctor said. "First of all,

Why would he knock himself out and make him arrested? This doesn't make sense, does it?"

The jury chattered and mumbled about the Doctor's statement.

"Very simple, he managed to kill the guard while the latter knocked him out!" The Prosecutor calmly explained.

"That would be extremely improbable, since it would be a much more realistic outcome if they either knocked each other out or killed each other out!" the Doctor said.

The jury mumbled again.

"And once again, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I declare that the defendant has been framed and the real culprit is in this courtroom!"

"Do you already have an idea on who it might be, Doctor?"

"Oh, I certainly do, Your Honour!" He proclaimed, "The culprit, the man behind the theft is no other than…The Prosecutor himself!"

The jury gasped.

"I must warn you that what you say is a very severe accusation, Doctor!" the Prosecutor was enraged.

"Oh, I know that well!" the Doctor said, "And I refuse to back down my claim! The Prosecutor was intending to steal the Crown Jewels and used the defendant here as a scapegoat!"

"Oh, really? What kind of proof do you have, Doctor?"

"This!" the Doctor pulled out a piece of cloth from his pocket, the jury was confused and intrigued at the same time.

"Explain, Doctor, is this the proof you were talking about?" the judge asked.

"Indeed, your Honour…" the Time Lord opened the cloth, revealing a jewel. "As you see, the object I'm holding is a fragment of the Crown Jewels.

"And how is it supposed to incriminate me?" the Prosecutor said.

"Would you please come here and stand up?" the Doctor said.

The Prosecutor obliged with a smug smile.

"You see, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I presume you all are aware of the Crown Jewels' peculiar abilities, such as leaving traces of the jewels on those who enter in contact with it!" the Doctor explained.

"We definitely know, in fact, we have found traces on the defendant!" the judge said.

"Prosecutor, would you mind taking off your cloak?"

The Prosecutor obliged and the Doctor then grinned.

"Say, Prosecutor, if the traces of the Jewels were on the defendant…Why do you have them on your cloak?!"

Everyone in the courtroom gasped and the Master couldn't help but laugh at the scene.

"Ngh!" the Prosecutor was busted, so he instinctively did one thing: Running away.

"Guards! Seize that man!" The judge ordered, the guards immediately followed him.

Eventually he was captured and arrested. The guards managed to finally retrieve the Crown Jewels.

After that, the jury returned to the courtroom and declared the Master not guilty.

"I must thank you for the help, Doctor." the Master said.

"Huh, I never thought I would hear the words "Thank you" coming out of your mouth, Master." the Doctor sarcastically said.

The Master laughed, "Well, now I must go, I have…Important affairs to attend to."

"GUARDS! GUARDS!" A voice yelled, "The Jewels! They have been stolen again."

"What?!" the Doctor said.

"I decided at the end to take the Jewel as compensation from the disturbance. Until we meet again, Doctor!" the Master quickly rushed to his TARDIS, dematerialising.

"Wait-Oh, I knew I shouldn't have helped him!" the Doctor said.

"Doctor! Get the Doctor! He's a collaborator of that thief!"

"Oh, great…" the Doctor said annoyed, and was forced to run away to his TARDIS, which immediately dematerialised.
