Chapter 17
Now we finally get to go inside the Ruins of Alph. The ruins are a maze, and we need the HMs to go through them. When we get into the first ruin, we see a puzzle in front of us.
"What is this?" Kris asks.
"It seems like some sort of puzzle..." Lillie says. "This Pokemon hides on the seafloor and watches the shore with eyes on its back. I have to assume that this is the description of Kabuto."
"So all we need to do is to finish the Kabuto puzzle with these pieces." I say as we finish the puzzle. Once it is done, we hear shaking and East asks, "What's going on?"
Just then, the floor below us cracked, and we all fell to the basement. When we get back up, Ethan asks, "Is everyone okay?"
"Yeah... I wasn't expecting to just fall..." Reisa says.
It turns out that we are not alone, there is a researcher who says, "Did you just come down from above? So! You must have solved the stone-panel puzzle! This is wonderful! You seem to have some talent with archaeology."
"I guess we do?" I say.
"I will give you this Unown Report. It records Unown as you capture them. I am sure it'll come in handy!"
After giving us the Unown Report, we decided to take out the Unown we captured. It is actually the letter A. And just then, portals are opening, and Unown A to J appear from around us. But much to our surprise, they aren't trying to do something crazy like turning the places into crystals.
"I guess they are not the hostile ones that we met before?" Ethan asks.
"They reacted to Molly's heart, but now I don't think they're reacting to anyone's heart." Lillie says. "But it will be interesting if we manage to capture all forms. I'm sure that we have enough space in our Space Manor."
Then we capture the Unown B to J, once we're done, we decide to try out other entrances to find the other Unown forms. There is also a hidden room when we're back at the room that we fell from, and it says Escape. After using the Escape Rope, we get into the hidden room. By falling down through the hole, we see some words on the bottom.
"Our clan engraved words in this place." Then we fall again so we have to go through the Chamber once more.
The second chamber is in the lower right and requires Surf, and the description of the puzzle is: "A Pokémon that knew no fear and flew as it pleased through the skies long ago."
"This is Aerodactyl... so we have to make the Aerodactyl puzzle..." East says.
"And for the backroom... it seems we need to use the TM for Flash." Reisa says.
So we decide to finish the puzzle but quickly leave before the floor collapses, and then we use the Flash to open the hidden room and see the words 'Our clan created a Pokémon statue outside.'
When we get to the chamber, we notice that there are Unown R to V appearing and we capture the 5 of them.
The third puzzle has a description "This Pokémon, with feathers of seven colors, flies through the sky, according to legend." And the puzzle is the Ho-Oh one. However, to get to the backroom, it says that we need Ho-Oh in the team.
"We don't have a Ho-Oh with us, how are we going to go through there?" Ethan asks.
"I don't know...But I have a Ho-Oh's Rainbow Feather... I wonder..." When I try using it, the door actually opens. And the words inside reveal to be 'We humans need to walk with them. We leave here for the sake of them.' And the Unown we capture is W to Z.
The last one is accessed through Union Cave, and we have to use the TM for Waterfall to reach it. The description of the puzzle is "A ten-legged Pokémon that swims on the bottom of the sea and eats plankton." Which is an Omanyte, and the hidden room is accessed when we have a Water Stone. The words are written, "They possess power to sense with mind and reject outside." And the Unown we found is K to Q.
And since we finish four puzzles and four chambers, at the entrance, we get to capture the last two Unown: Unown ? and ! Once we're done, we notice there is one more room. But just as we are about to get inside, a man comes out and says, "Are you Okay? I was in a hurry and... Sorry, did I hurt you?"
"It's fine. We're okay." I say.
But much to my surprise, the man says, "I don't know why... I can sense it. Do you have the Pokemon from Sinnoh... The one they call Arceus?"
Wait, don't tell me that this man can see through my disguise... "Oh, could it be...? Arceus causing all this...? I cannot explain it any other way... Arceus may be the key to solving the mystery of the Unown and the Ruins of Alph...?"
"Hold on, what do you mean?" East asks.
"Can you come to the Ruins of Alph with us? Please! You must! I am trembling with excitement. I think something is about to happen!" Then we follow the man until we get to the Unown chamber. The man says, "I have been studying the ruins for many years, but something feels... different."
Then he rushes to the wall and gasps, "The Unown on the walls... it feels like they're staring at me!"
And much to our surprise, something eerie is teleporting us, and the next time we wake up, we find ourselves in another place. Kris asks, "What is this place?"
"This is the Sinjoh Ruins..." I say, "Look at those pillars... There are cultures of Sinnoh and Johto blending together..."
Then we met a hiker who wanted to invite us to the cabin, If we want to heal up, we can do it there. We thank the hiker and take a rest for a while, then we get back to the Sinjoh Ruins, and I can feel some memories coming into my mind.
"Ash?" The others look at me with concern, I say, "A long time ago... people came from Sinnoh to live here. They must have built a temple here while longing for home. That's why we call these the Sinjoh Ruins..."
Then I step forward and we see a triangle with four circles. I say, "This is the Mystri Stage. The mythical stage was built to show respect for Arceus. It is said that people used to celebrate its magnificent might with music and dance. Some people in Johto still pass down this tradition. According to an ancient document, time, space, and antimatter, or what combined we call the world, shall be born when Arceus stands on the Mystri Stage. This is where one might say, "The lead enters the Mystri Stage at last." Depicted on the Mystri Stage are the Pokémon that shaped this world. The circle in the middle is Arceus, the origin of it all..."
Reisa says, "So you mean... This is the pattern that represents Palkia, the master of space and dimensions..."
East says, "This is the pattern that represents Dialga, the guardian of time..."
Lillie says, "And this is the pattern that represents Giratina, the ruler of the world that is on the opposite side of ours, the world of antimatter..."
I nod and step on the middle circle, and just then, the Unown appears and now we see several images of outer space, then the photo of Earth, and then the Mystri Stage's design, and an egg appears on top of it. Then the egg cracks before we're back to normal.
Kris asks, "What was that?"
"That shining sphere... Could it be...an Egg? Did we just witness the very moment an Egg was brought to this world? A moment no one has ever seen?" Lillie asks.
"An Egg is the cradle of every being. The planet itself is an Egg in a sense... Life that comes from an Egg will come to an end in due course... to begin anew... That may be what I wanted to show you." I say.
Then we are suddenly teleported back to the Ruins of Alph. The researcher rushes to us and says, "Oh, are you all right? You disappeared right in front of me. I was so surprised."
"Yeah, we were teleported to the Sinjoh Ruins." I say.
"I see. The power of Arceus and Unown affected each other to create a huge energy, which sent you to the Sinjoh Ruins. Unown, the Ruins of Alph, and Arceus... The mystery deepens...It has made me even more inquisitive! I will one day solve all the mysteries!"
Then he leaves, and we can finally leave this strange place. And while in the Union Cave, East manages to capture a Golbat in the cave.
Once we're back to Route 36, I remember that Professor Oak gave me an Up-Grade back at the Ruins of Alph, I say, "You know, maybe we should use this Up-Grade to evolve Porygon."
"That sounds like a good idea." Lillie says.
We send out Porygon and have him hold the item, then we do the trading to evolve it into Porygon 2.
Porygon2: The Virtual Pokemon: Normal Type. Evolved from Porygon by trading with an Up-Grade. This manmade Pokémon evolved from the latest technology. It may have unprogrammed reactions.
Then we find a baby Stantler, his leg is injured and we heard Officer Jenny that his herd has been terrorizing the town. We go check it out and find that they are only illusions. Lillie offers to heal his wound, which causes affection from the baby Pokemon.
"So Lillie." I say while looking at the Stantler on her lap. "Are you going to capture him?"
"But should it be better if he goes back home?" Lillie says with a frown.
Then Lillie tries to release the Stantler, but he is hesitant, and he nudges Lillie to show its affection, this makes Lillie more worried. Then Team Rocket comes and tries to catch the Pokemon, thanks to the real herd of Stantlers, they are sent flying.
"Stantler, I know it is hard, but they are your family, you should be happier if you are with them." This causes Stantler to frown as he likes the humans, thanks to the leading Stantler, he agrees to let Lillie and I capture the Pokemon. In the end, Lillie thanks the leader and captures the Pokemon.
Stantler: The Big Horn Pokemon: Normal Type. The round balls found on the fallen antlers can be ground into a powder that aids in sleeping.
When we arrive at the mountain stream, a trainer called Andreas has been taunting about Reisa's Poliwhirl. After that boy leaves, we come across a large mass of people with fishing rods walking in the same direction.
"Looks like it is a Seaking catching competition." Ethan says.
"Yeah, Reisa, how about you win this since you are good at fishing." Lillie asks.
"I'd love to." Reisa gives a confident smile.
It turns out that Andreas is in the same competition, and we learn that he had won every contest that he entered, and no one could beat him. This only fuels Reisa's determination to win.
"Looks like Andreas is a tough opponent." Ethan says.
"Well, I trust Reisa to win this." I say as I remember when we first met her and his family.
(Flashback)
Lillie and I go to the river near Otem Town in Sevestar since it is a relaxing spot for us. One day, we see a girl at their age fishing with a boy watching behind her.
"There aren't any Water Pokemon around here." I decided to tell them, but the girl said, "Oh, I'm not really fishing for Water Pokemon around here."
"We're just playing around." The boy says to us.
"I see. I am Ash Ketchum." I say to them.
"I am Lillie Aether." Lillie takes a bow.
"Wait, Ketchum? Are you related to Adam Ketchum?" The boy asks.
"I am Reisa, and this is East." Reisa says. "Our parents are Gym Leaders of the Hoenn Region."
"I see. So you like fishing?" I ask.
"Well, I like water Pokemon more. Since they were beautiful and clear. My dream is to make friends with water types."
Ash says, "Wow, that is a very good goal. So how good are you when it comes to fishing?"
East says, "She recently captured a Seaking back at our hometown Stootopolis."
"Wow, that sounds awesome." Lillie says.
(Flashback end)
At the registration desk, Reisa registers with Poliwhirl. We have to admit that in the competition, Andreas is actually strong, but the fact that he keeps taunting Reisa is something that not every one of us likes. To make matters worse, Team Rocket appears and they break Reisa's Fishing Rod, causing her to be angry and send them flying.
Good thing Reisa has her own rod, and then she decides to find the biggest Seaking. However, Andreas is going in the same direction, and neither of them is backing down. In the end, Andreas thought he caught the biggest Seaking, but Reisa got one that was the same weight as his, and it created a tie.
In the end, it is up to the two of them to battle, and in the end, Poliwhirl wins against his Poliwrath. Andreas pulls Poliwrath out of the water and congratulates Reisa on a job well done. He then apologizes for the things he said, and Reisa accepts his apology.
