Bella
For the first time in a long time, Bella felt the coldness of betrayal leaving her heart. The man had order them a round, touching Bella in that he remembered what she ordered from earlier this night. Was Bella getting closer to love? It was startling in how in the most expected moments it could strike.
Bella wanted to relax, to believe the man was truthful and genuine. Bella wanted to believe that later she would not get a call from a woman she did not know, explaining the man who had taken Bella out was her husband.
As they sat the bar, Bella felt her nerves, jagged and rough, but expectant. There a chaotic vibe to the place, the crowd was boisterous, and the man came back with the drinks.
"Seems like a popular place," he commented, looking around, intrigued. Bella could feel the energy and she liked it.
"Do you feel it," the man asked, gesturing between them as if something magical was happening.
"I do," Bella smiled, still fearful, but there could have been a small bit of hope.
"I'm smitten," the man commented. "Care to dance," he asked.
Bella did not hesitate long. She gave her man her hand, letting him lead the way. A warmth flew into her as he led them through the crowd and she felt his hand tightening on her as if he did not want to lose her. Bella didn't want to lose the sensation that was being created. It was a lightness that felt it was seeping in through the cracks in her heart.
As they grew close to the stage, the band switched over to another song. It was slightly slower and rather than make excuses to find their seats, the man pulled Bella into him. It felt with everything else to be casting a spell. But Bella knew it only worked if she believed.
That was why suddenly she wanted to pull back. Had she lowered her guard? Would the man would make a fool out of her in the end?
"Relax," the man whispered.
The man's voice reminded Bella once in how a man had attacked her once that he should not be punished for transgressions of other men. The man had argued she needed to be more trusting, more willing to talk with him, and that it was not his fault if she had trusted the wrong men in the past.
It was not that Bella had completely disagreed with him. But she knew she could not be so generous, not when she had tried it more times than she should have and was left with nothing in the end.
