Rory sat on the couch, her mind wandering to everything she had learned by going back in time. The moments she did get to spend with her father, what this all really meant. "Hey." She heard, looking up she found Maze.
"Aunt Maze." She said as she wiped her tears away, sniffling. "They, uh, they took mom to the funeral home. Trixie and I are going to go tomorrow." She said with a nod looking at Maze as she walked over nodding. She took a seat beside her letting the young angel fall into her, letting the tears flow. "I know it was time but…" She cried as Amenadiel walked into the room, it broke his heart seeing his niece in so much pain.
He slowly walked over sitting in the chair across form the pair as Maze pulled back. "Rory, your mom, she gave us something to hold onto until it was time. We couldn't tell you anything until you figured it out."
"About Dad, right?" She asked, trying to control her emotions again as Maze gave a nod and held out a small box.
"She said that when she died to give this to you." She explained as Rory took the box and opened it, finding a little note.
Rory read the note, trying to hold back tears. 'Rory, you are my angel and I know how hard things were for you, I know how much pain you endured and the disappointment and anger with your father but now that you know the truth I know these things can be a comfort for you to know that you are and always will be loved more than you can ever imagine by me and your father. I know it hurt to lose me, but I know you're strong. You will survive and with Trixie the two of you will be able to continue on and be happy. Love mom and dad.'
She furrowed her brow as she put the note to the side and picked up the little stack of pictures. "This…." She trailed off looking up at Maze and Amenadiel as they gave little smiles as she looked back at the picture.
"Your father." Amenadiel said with a little smile. "There was no way he would miss seeing you for the first time. He knew it was technically breaking his word, but he and your mother said since you wouldn't remember, it didn't quite count." He gave a little smile as Maze and Rory chuckled.
Maze looked at the picture. "That was the night you came home." She said with a little smile as Rory flipped through other pictures of when she was too small to remember. Lucifer had taken a moment to spend the time he could with his daughter before he had to hold his word and let her hate him.
"I'm sure that since coming back to your present, you can understand now, Lucifer never wanted to miss a moment with you. It was the hardest thing he has ever done to stay away from you. He loves you so much."
Rory nodded and sniffled with a little smile. "I know. He fought to be with me and mom, he offered to give his life to save me. I made him promise to leave us." She said softly.
Maze gave a little nod. "He kept his promise knowing exactly what it would mean." She watched as Rory gently laid the pictures back in the box and looked back to her uncle.
"Is mom with him now?" She asked.
Amenadiel gave a little nod. "I took her myself. They're finally together, back to working together." He said as she smiled and nodded.
"Should probably give them some private time for a while." Maze said with a little smirk making Amenadiel smirk and shake his head as Rory gave a little laugh and nodded.
"After everything is settled and Trixie is okay, I'll go visit." She said looking back down at the picture of Lucifer holding her the day she came home from the hospital. His face was light up, his eyes locked on her little form, a look of pure love clear on his face.
"Rory." They heard making them look up as Trixie walked in, tears falling down her cheeks before the two sisters reached out and held each other. "I came as fast as I could." She said pulling back to look at her younger sister with a little smile. Her mother had sat and told her everything not long after Rory was born, she had a feeling the younger sister would be giving it away before long and wanted to make sure Trixie understood. She smiled; she had always had a feeling Lucifer had always told the truth about who he was.
Rory shook her head. "I'm so sorry, Tix. She…. She went peacefully. She's with dad now."
"Dad?" Trixie looked at her as she gave a little smile. "You mean….?"
Rory nodded. "It's a long story but she's happy." Her sister nodded, trying to hold back the tears and pain.
"We'll…. Let you two have some time." Amenadiel said as he stood, pulling Maze with him as they left the two sisters alone together.
Rory sat to the side, her mind still on the box and the information she learned by having her melt down. "Rory." She heard making her look up to see a woman and man walking over. The woman's face was lit with a smile as she walked over, hugging her. "Rory, I'm so sorry."
They parted as Rory gave a little nod, holding back her tears. "It's alright." She said. "Mom's with Dad now." She said as the woman smiled happily. "I know mom made everyone stay quiet about me going back in time and trying to kill him and all." She said with a little smile.
"It was hard to keep that secret for so long." She gave a little laugh.
Rory nodded. "Thank you, Aunt Ella. I know how hard it must have been to stay quiet even when I went a little crazy sometimes."
"You were just trying to figure things out." Ella smiled, her dark hair heavily streaked with grey, her face covered with wrinkles, but the sunshine was still there bursting form her eyes.
"Maze and the others are in the living room if you want to go see them." Ella nodded as she, Carol and Rory walked into the living room that was filled with family. Rory gave a little smile. Her mom had made quite the impression on the other angels.
"You know, I never thought brother would ever change." Saraqael said with a little smile. "He was always the rebel but I never thought he'd be tamed by a human."
"A human taming the devil, that's a miracle." Laughed Zadkiel. "I would have never believed it if I hadn't seen it for my own eyes how she had changed him." She smiled.
"Chloe really is an incredible woman." Amenadiel nodded with a smile.
"You did take her to brother, right?" Azrael asked watching her big brother nod with a little smile.
"She wouldn't have it any other way." He said watching as the others smiled.
"Mom always was stubborn when it came to Lucifer." Trixie gave a smile. "Never let him get away with anything but always ready to tear someone apart for him." She paused with a nod, pushing her tears away as she looked around the room. "She brought so many people together, so many different ideas and feelings and now there are humans and angels working together with the actual god to help the universe. I know I'm not really your blood but…. Thank you for being my family my entire life." She said as tears started to fall.
Rory walked forward, wrapping her sister in her arms. "Blood or not, you are our family." Azrael smiled at her.
"Lucifer always saw you as his own, that makes you, our niece. There's no getting out of that." Amenadiel said with a smile before Trixie wrapped him in a hug as she cried.
"You know I bet mom's ready to strangle dad right about now." Rory said with a smirk. "You really think the devil will survive Cloe Decker?" She laughed making the room burst with laughter and talks about Cloe, stories about her and what she had done, her personality, how she and Lucifer were together. Rory looked around taking it all in with new eyes, listening to the stories about her mom and smiling as many stories included once proving how much her dad really did love them all.
That night Trixie stood in the doorway of the kitchen as Rory sat at the table, lost in thought. "You going to see them?" Rory looked at her. "You're an angel, you can go see them."
She gave a little nod. "I was thinking about it but… Dad…."
Trixie smiled. "He really loves you, probably more than even mom loves us both, so you know that's a lot." She said making Rory smile and nod. "I think if you went to see them, they'd be so happy. I know Lucifer might not really show it, but he'll be relieved and so beyond happy to have you and mom there with him."
"You really think? I mean I did make him promise to leave us, to abandon us. I made him stay away from us for so long." Rory said. "I can't believe you're not mad at me. Looking back, I can see so many times that mom was so sad, she missed him so much, but I made him go away."
Trixie shook her head. "Mom said you had a reason, you needed to have it like this. Mom was sure it was the right thing for you and honestly…. Yea it was hard but…. I think she was right. Rory you're incredible, and when you're ready to visit them, you'll see how much they really agree." Rory looked at her as Trixie gave a little laugh. "When you do…. Can you give them a message for me?"
Rory nodded, blinking back tears. "Of course, I will." She said as the sisters held hands, talking about their mom late into the night.
Rory took a breath as she looked out at the city from the place her father had shown her in the past. She gave a little smirk and nodded. "It really is the best view." She said softly. It had been a week since her mother's funeral, she had been putting off going to hell to see her parents, not sure if she could really handle it, it really was her fault, all of it and she had been so mad at him her entire life for nothing but keeping his promise to her. She let out a slow breath before she pulled her wings free and dove down, heading to hell.
Once there she slowly made her way through the maze of doors, looking for her parents before she found a door that looked suspiciously like an elevator door. She reached out and it slowly slid open revealing the loft. She looked around as she slowly walked in, taking a little breath as her parents on the balcony turned and looked at her. Cloe smiled, tears rising to her eyes before she ran to her daughter. Lucifer followed her, setting his glass down with a smile as Rory looked at him, tears streaming down her face before she wrapped her arms around him.
"I'm so sorry, Dad." She whispered as Cloe watched, blinking back tears as she watched father and daughter reunited. "I'm sorry…. I never meant…"
"Sh." Lucifer shushed her, holding her tight to him. "You have nothing to apologize for." He told her before she pulled back and looked at him.
She looked up at him and gave a little smile. "I love you, dad." She said, pulling back to him. Cloe smiled as she reached out touching her daughter's back.
"I love you too, Rory." He said softly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
She pulled back, wiping the tears away as she looked at the two. "Aunt Maze and Uncle Amenadiel gave me the box."
"What box?" Lucifer asked looking at Cloe who smiled.
"I gave them a box with pictures from when you visited before she could remember. I told them that when I died, they should give it to her." She smiled and looked at Rory.
"Always looking for a loophole." Rory said with a little smile.
"Devil in the detail." He said, a little smirk on his face. "Come, sit down." He said as they walked over to the couch, taking seats to talk, he listened as Rory caught him up on everything that she had made him promise not to be part of.
For the first time in her life, she finally felt complete sitting with her mother and father, having the family time she had missed out on for so many years while her father helped save souls and keep his word.
