It was a while before Kassandra saw Hermes again. The next time she saw Hermes he was having a conversation with Hekate. There was an argument about her and Persephone. Again she hid behind the wall while she listened to their argument.
Hekate was asking Hermes for help to stop Kassandra from leaving Elysium by hiding the key as he was a keymaker to the gate so she could use it as a chance to spread false rumours and cover her tracks as Persephone's traitor by throwing Kassandra under the bus and getting her to take the blame.
Kassandra was shocked to the core by what she heard. She didn't expect Hekate to throw her under the bus and stop her from leaving Elysium. But then again the traitors are the one who we always least expect. Still she couldn't help but be surprised.
What surprised her even more was despite their last rift and conversation, Hermes was angry at Hekate and could see through her lies and manipulation and was defending Kassandra, shouting at Hekate calling her out for bringing Persephone down and refused to help with hiding the key.
A furious Hekate answered. "Fine, if you won't help me Hermes I'll just have to go to Persephone's ear and tell her about how Kassandra is the traitor not me and she'll be thrown out" with that she stormed of from the secret room.
Kassandra was about to leg it knowing she had to get to Persephone first and defend herself with the news she had just heard. Until the rustling of her escaping got Hermes' attention.
"Kassandra?" a shocked Hermes stopped her in her tracks as he turned around to where she was .
Malaka, she had been spotted. She turned round to face Hermes reluctantly. Putting a stormy face on due to the pressure and intensity of the situation after everything she just heard she responded in a hostile manner.
"Hermes, I haven't got time for this. I need to get to Persephone now after everything that backstabber said about me" .
Hermes looked at her with a different expression to the one that he last had after their hostile encounter. His expression was soft, gentle, one of concern even. He looked at her and nodded understanding.
After managing to get Persephone on her side and convincing her that Hekate was the one that Persephone needed to throw out, a distraction happened.
It was Adonis and the rebels they had invaded the palace grounds and a battle had broke out between the isu soldiers and the humans.
Kassandra ran off to join the rebels killing the isu captains while Persephone and Hermes watched from the palace in safety.
Once the battle was over, an angry Adonis stormed over to Persephone demanding she release him back to his love Aphrodite.
In a sudden and unexpected turn of events, it was revealed that Persephone had feelings for Adonis but he didn't feel the same.
Elysium was created as a gift for Adonis as a way of Persephone showing her love for him. However this backfired and only had the opposite effect making Adonis resent her even more.
As he said a prisoner won't ever love their captive, one Persephone should know very clearly as Hades had done the same to her.
An angry and infuriated Persephone blinded and scarred Adonis' face with her powers. "If I can't have you, then no one will!" as she burnt his face badly.
All Kassandra and Hermes could do was stand there in silence and shock staring as the scene unfolded in front of them.
Unfortunately, It was Hermes' turn to face Persephone's wrath next. "Hermes Trismegistus. You have failed me again" she spat coming up close to Hermes and grabbing him by his neck .
All Kassandra could do was look at him in shock. Seeing Hermes in pain and grunting under her grasp was too much, Persephone had gone too far now.
She grabbed her spear and tried to lunge towards Persephone only to be stopped by a large force field freezing her on her tracks.
She grunted and tried to fight against it, but going against the power of a god was no use.
Persephone eventually released her grip. And angrily threw Hermes and Kassandra into a deep pit.
They landed on their backs. Both of them groaning at the same time. Kassandra looked around her. They were in a dark cave full of ash and smoke. And the pit's entrance was nowhere to be seen. She scanned her surroundings trying to see any movement or indication of danger.
"Where are we?" she asked, looking round.
Hermes was behind her doing the same. "Looks like we're in the underworld. She sent us straight to Hades".
Author's Note: Another Short Chapter, Many of the Chapters are a lot shorter as this was originally only a 6000 word story that wasn't split into five parts previously that's why the Chapters are very short as 6000 words is not a lot. For a one shot it is, but for a multi-chaptered story it isn't. Hope you don't mind the short chapter and if you made it this far then I'm glad.
Kass and Hermes have now been thrown straight to Hades' door right at the pit where Cerebus lives. Will they find a way out of Hell's door, read the next chapter to find out!
