Ruby was frozen with fear as a Dragon of the Grimm was staring down at her; the Black Rose Dragon given to her by her mother was destroyed in an instant. The girl behind her, fear evident in her deep emerald eye as she silently reached out and shouted for Ruby, who in turn looked at her in fear, and just as the ball of black and blue was about to incinerate her. Suddenly barrier of light was thrown up in front of them. A figure suddenly in front of them, golden light radiating off of him. Those on that platform were shocked at who was there. Raising his hand, he commanded in a deep and regal voice.
"DARK MAGIC ATTACK!"
"WHOA!" Ruby shouted as she fell out of bed, she sat there, groaning as She rubbed her nose. "Ow, but what was that; and who was that girl; plus, did I dream one of the Kings of Games there?" she asked before getting up and making her bed.
"YO, RUBES YOU UP YET!" a voice shouted, making Ruby perk up and look in the direction it came from.
"I am Yang," Ruby said as she left her bedroom; she paused and smiled. Today was Yang's last day before she headed off to Duel Academy Beacon, one of the four Duelling academies, while she was two years into her time at Duel School Signal.
"About time! What were you dreaming of duelling a champion?" Yang teased
"Very funny, I think so," Ruby murmured.
"Well anyway, breakfast." Yang said sliding some waffles onto Ruby's plate as the younger girl sat down. "And remember, we're meeting dad in Vale. So we can finish my enrolment paperwork." Yang added
"I know," Ruby said, frowning a bit.
"Hey, it's going to be a couple of years, then you can come and join me at Duel Academy" Yang smiled, ruffling her hair
"I know, I know but still; thanks to Uncle Qrow, I've been testing as an Academy-level student" Ruby sighed
"I know, but there are still things you need to learn, such as Duel Running," Yang smiled.
"Oh shut up, you know I hate Turbo Duels!" Ruby sighed
"Yet; Dad is one of the best Turbo duellist" Yang said as she sat down and started on her breakfast.
"Okay, what three monsters make up Beacon's ranking system?" Ruby asked
"Slifer the Sky Dragon, Winged Dragon of Ra and Obelisk the Tormentor!" Yang answered
"Okay, who is the teacher of Duelling history?" Ruby asked
"Dr. Oobleck!" Yang answered. "That was easy, come on Ruby, make it trickier."
"Okay, what is the monster in the middle of the courtyard?" she asked
"Oh, oh its um, its um...Elemental Hero Honest Neos!" Yang answered smirked
"Damn it!" Ruby snapped, I was hoping you wouldn't get that one" she grumbled before stopping, seeing a red wolf sigil with claw marks behind it "The White Fang."
"You ever wonder what happened to make them like this?" Yang asked
"Not sure," Ruby answered
"Well, if you see one of them, you stay clear alright? They're trouble!" Yang said using a sisterly tone of voice. "I mean it Ruby; I've seen them duel, it was almost like a War Duel" she said
"I know; I've heard about them in school," Ruby said.
"yeah, they were peacekeepers between Humans and Faunus. Only along the way they forgot they were supposed to keep the peace between our races and started to war with them." Yang frowned sadly, her eyes turning blue. "They even started to use the Fusion technique of the Heroic King as a way to get back at humanity."
"Which led to us using the Synchro and XYZ summoning styles more," Ruby added in
"Man; that is going to be a tough class to sit through, probably more tedious and boring them Prof Beige's history class at Signal." Yang stretched.
"Do not remind me," Ruby groaned. The older sister smiled before her alarm went off
"OH SHOOT!" Yang exclaimed as she checked her scroll
"What, what?" Ruby panicked
"I have to go; my entrance test is about to happen!" Yang exclaimed. She quickly hugged Ruby and kissed her forehead. "Now behave, don't spend too much Lien and be back at the hotel about 7!"
"But what about you and Dad?" Ruby asked
"We may be back later, BYE RUBY, LOVE YOU!" she shouted, running off.
"YANG!" Ruby cried out, "now what?"
Yang quickly ran to the Beacon Entrance Test, she quickly removed the backpack she was wearing and pulled out a brown, gold and orange duel disk with a flame motif, from her back belt where he deck case was hang, she unclipped it and pulled it out, drawing five cards and fanning them out revealing a good had
"Oh yeah! I am going to buuuuurrrrrnnnnnn with this deck." she smirked making the other Signal students testing there sweat drop
"And you most likely ditched Ruby in the middle of the city" a older male said
"Dad!" she cheered and hugged him "And I may have done that"
"Yang" he father Taiyang Xiao Long sighed and gave her a look.
"okay, okay maybe I did but she's a big girl now." Yang stated
"Still," Taiyang sighed "Anyway you better get inside." he pointed
"Don't worry I got this!" Yang smirked
"I hope so." Taiyang sighed
Once she got inside Yang saw that all ten of the duelling fields were in use, and some of them were doing great.
"So I'm on duelling field 4" she said walking over there, smiling as she was the only one there. The current duel was close to the end; with a redhead girl on the challengers side with an Amazoness Paladin, Amazoness Chain Master and an Amazoness Queen on her side of the field while the proctor had a face down card
"I Draw" the redhead said before revealing a face down card "I activate the trap card Ring of destruction, and I choose my Amazoness Queen, meaning we both lose 2000 life points, but since you only have 600 points left that mean I win" the girl said as her Paladin blew up and the sword she was carrying stabbed the proctor reducing his points to 0000
"WINNER! THE CHALLENGER" the Proctor said
"Pyrrha Nikos" a kind yet wise voice said next to Yang making her jump a bit "an impressive duel, I hope you find Duel Academy beacon a worthy place to learn how to be a Duel Huntress" he said
"Thank you Professor, oh hello you must be the next student to duel" Pyrrha shyly said
"Ah yeah" Yang said
"Yang Xiao Long, a unsurprising face to see, but it is good to see you actually on the duelling floor." the professor mirthfully chuckled.
"Same here professor" Yang said sliding her deck into the holder and activating her duel disk and stepping into the arena
"I believe we should head back to where the spectators are." the professor smiled and lead Pyrrha off
"Draw you hand student" the proctor said
"Okay" Yang acknowledged and drew five card, "I'm all fired up and ready to burn!"
"DUEL START!" they shouted
"One Berry Magician Parfait" a friendly voice said as a dessert made of strawberry yoghurt and Vanilla custard, various mixed berries and a couple of cookies crumbled throughout the dessert was placed in front of Ruby.
"oh, thanks Tukson" Ruby said having been bored, she decided to head to the nearest duelling cafe and had spent a good couple of hours there, playing against different duellists before sitting down and ordering some food, namely something sweet for a snack. She would go and play some of the other things that, but she wasn't really good at Capsule Monsters, and she wasn't that interested in Dungeon Dice Monsters.
"No worries kiddo, hey heard Yang will be going to Duel Academy Beacon" he said
"Yeah, I'm going to miss her," Ruby said taking a mouthful of the mixed berry and custard dessert, perking up a bit at the delightful sweetness.
"And I bet, she is going to miss you a fair bit." Tukson laughed "maybe, you should go and get her a going-away present?"
"Good idea" she smiled brightly. She then finished her dessert and head off. "thank you!" she called out.
"MY TURN!" Yang declared looking as the Proctor had a Millenium Shield (Lvl 6/EARTH/Warrior ATK-0 DEF-3000) while she had two Solar Flare Dragons (Lvl 4/FIRE/Pyro/Effect ATK-1500 DEF-1000) on her field with two face downs, one copy of Area Limit B on the field (Spell/Continuous) and 1000 life points while the proctor had 3500 life point. Looking at her hand Yang had devised a good way to win this duel. "Okay first I activate Dark Room of Nightmare! (spell/continuous) she cried out "Any damage my opponent takes by card effect is increased by 300!" she said I play the card Meteor of Destruction! This card deals you 1000 life points of damage if you are over 3000 life points!" Yang said as a ball of yellow, red and white flames hit the proctor, lowering his life points (PLP 3500-2200) next "Next I play Dark Hole, but I'll chain with my face downs: BACKFIRE! (Trap/Continuous)" she called out flipping the two cards face up "every time my FIRE monster are destroyed and sent to the graveyard you lose 500 life points" (2200-1400) she explained as the monsters on the field was destroyed "So you lose 2100 life points" she smiled "Now since you have no monsters on the field, I can easily summon Blazing Inpachi! (Lvl 4/FIRE/Pyro ATK 1850 DEF 0) "Giving me the ability to attack, NOW BACKBURN KICK!" she called out making the burning
"Very well, good duel Student, you have passed the exam" the proctor said
"Well done, Miss Xiao Long." the professor said walking down after her explosive finish at the end there "I trust you will keep showing results like this at Beacon." he said
"Aw yeah!" she cheered bumping her fists together making the professor smile
"Professor Ozpin." a professional voice sternly said as a woman in a white shirt, black skirt, and black and purple cape holding a tablet and a crop came up to him making Ozpin turn away from Yang and to the woman who seem upset.
"What its it Glynda?" Ozpin asked
"He's been sighted." Glynda said
"Where?" Ozpin asked
"The club ran by Hei Xiong Jnr" Glynda said
"The counterfeiter?" Ozpin asked
"Yes, shall I?" Glynda asked
"No, I want you to stay here and look after the students, it's been awhile since I was in the field as it were; so I'll handle him you handle the student testing, there are only five more left." he said walking off, passing a boy with blonde scraggly hair and a Kuriboh jumper. "Interesting, for him to come here."
A group of men were walking around the streets of Vale, each one dressed in a black suit, black shirt, red tie, red shades and a black hat. Their leader was dressed in a white coat with a stylish bowler hat
"Damn, another closed shop, and they have the latest in dust defences, this isn't looking good boys" the leader said
"There!' a goon shouted pointing at the shop where a girl in a red cloak walked into "That's a late night one, and they have a pretty good snack bar"
"We're here to steal Dust and forging disks" the leader said "And maybe something sweet for Neo"
Ruby was looking around the shop she was currently in, looking for something useful for Yang to use, the best idea she had was a card forging kit, so she could hold the elemental dust needed for the card's element and power dust to pick out the card's base type
"Okay let's see yellow power for normal, orange for effect, violet for fusion, white for synchro, black for XYZ, teal for spell, pink for trap, what else, or navy for linking, cyan for pendulum, huh no ritual power dust. Sorry Yang; no, Legendary Fire Lord for you." she smiled as she put the kit together. Once she got it all she wanted to check to see if the latest issue of Duel-wire was in. She went over and picked up a book, opening it up to a random page to see stuff about the hottest looks for back to school, hair care techniques and makeup tips "Wait, what...This is Rouge!" she frowned and looked back to the shelf, where the magazine she wanted was right next to it. "Alright; let's see what's new. Huh, What's rush summoning?" she asked herself reading the article, while slipping her headphones on, her favourite song. stopping her from paying attention as a gang from walking in, their leader walked in after them, exhaling acrid smoke.
"Well, I wasn't expecting to find someone with duel shop open this late, very rare to find." he said walking over to the counter and looked at the old man as the goons behind him pulled out Axe Raider cards and Celtic Guardian cards. Making the old man open the cash register's til and stepping back with his hands in the air. The crook's leader just closed the til and smile "Now, now, now while we may look it but we don't want your money" he said tapping the glass counter "we're here for your Dust!" he smirked as the crooks pulled out containers, moving to various dispensers and area "Also, got any sodas, my associate is watching for any cops and she gets mighty thirsty" he said as the old man pointed to the fridge where Ruby was standing next to "Great" the man said as a goon went over. Then the goon noticed Ruby reading the magazine and pulled his sword out and pointed it at her
"HEY KID! Put your hands up" the goon said as Ruby ignored him "I SAID: PUT YOU HANDS UP!" he shouted turning her to look at him; frowning, the goon pointed her headphones.
"Yes?" she nervously asked as she looked at the goon while lowering them.
"I said put your hands up!" the goon snapped
"Are you robbing me?" Ruby asked
"No Duh kid" the goon snorted
"Oh...okay" she said as she opened her duel disk up and slapped a card on there "think fast" she smirked
"What!" the goon exclaimed as he was flung back past their leader
"And good help is so hard to find," he said as he snuffed out his cigar and pulled out a basic duel disk and slotted his deck into the slide, pressing the shuffle button "So 'Red,' what's your story?"
"Meaning?" Ruby asked as her red black and silver duel disk was ready to rock and roll.
"Why are you carrying a duel disk around with you, even one that is made of high quality materials and looks custom made" the thief said
"Well yeah, I made it like that" Ruby told him
"I see, well time to start this duel" the man said as he drew five cards. Ruby quickly shoved her deck into deck slot and shuffle it before drawing her own hand. Suddenly a small drone appeared
"DUEL ABOUT TO COMMENCE! DUEL ABOUT TO COMMENCE! DUEL ABOUT TO COMMENCE!" it said loudly before three cards appeared before them, "ROCK! PAPER! SCISSORS!" the drone said. The thief picked the right card, while Ruby picked the centre. The card flipped around "SCISSORS BEATS PAPER! PLEASE TURN ORDER!"
"Simple, I'll let 'Red' go first"
"Gladly!" Ruby smiled
"DUEL!" the pair declared.
[THIEF 4000 RUBY 4000]
Ruby looked at her hand and then back at her opponent, who was looking smugly
'I could bring out my ace in one turn, but I need a certain card' she said looking at her hand. "I'll set a face down and end my turn!" Ruby said
"Poor showing. I DRAW!" the thief said "First move I play Pot of Greed, drawing two cards, then I'm playing Graceful Charity, drawing three new cards, while discarding two card. Third card out if Confiscation! I pay 1000 life point [4000-3000] giving me the chance to look at your hand" the thief said as holographic versions of Ruby's hand was shown "And discard one of them, so I'll do just that. Fire Princess goes bye-bye, next I'll summon Time Thief Winder! (Lvl 4/DARK/Psychic/Effect/ATK 1800 DEF 1300)" the thief said as a futuristic warrior appeared "Now since he was normal summoned I can get a Time Thief Card to my hand, hello Time Thief Hack, and then I'll attack your face down" the thief said as the Time Thief attacked the face down card, making it reveal a woman with dark hair and clothing
"Thanks!" Ruby said as she put the card in her graveyard, then pulled her deck out and fanned it "Since you attacked my Witch of the Blake Forest, I can get a monster 1500 or less Defence from my deck, but I can't use card effects with the same name for the rest of the turn" Ruby said as she pulled the card she needed
"Very well, I set two face down and I end my turn" the thief said
[THIEF 3000 RUBY 4000]
"I draw" Ruby said drawing her next card and smirking at her hand. "I summon Marauding Captain! (Lvl 3/EARTH/Warrior/effect/ ATK 1200 DEF 800" she said as a green knight showed up on the field
"Ah, kid that ain't going to be strong enough to beat my Time thief" the thief said
"But it can allow me to special summon a level four or lower monster, and I choose" Ruby said checking her hand 'I need a four star tuner, I would go for Witch of the Black Rose, but I can't, wait yeah, I can use that!' she though "GO NITRO SYNCHRON!" she shouted before a tank of nitro with a face on it appear (Lvl 2/FIRE/machine/effect/tuner/ ATK 300 DEF 100), "Next I'll play Double summon to get a second normal summon, and this time I summon Witch of the Black Rose!" she said as a young Witch appeared. The Captain and the witch nodded before they exploded into three tar and four rings. "NOW I tune my level four Witch of Black rose with my level three Marauding Captain!" she cheered before deeply inhaling and closing her eyes "Oh blazing bloom, engulf the entire world in dark petals as your lead me to the place I am guarded in love, for I synchro summon thee to my field BLACK ROSE DRAGON! (Lvl 7/FIRE/Dragon/Synchro/ ATK 2400 DEF 1800)" she chanted
"No" the thief gasped getting flashback to an event that happened years ago
"Impressive" Ozpin mused as he watched the duel
"Okay so the kid's got skills" the thief said as he flipped up a card, making dark chains surround Black Rose Dragon
"NO!" Ruby shouted
"Fiendish chain, sorry kids not only does your weed is stopped from attacking but it loses its effect" the thief laughed
"NO!" Ruby shouted "Fine I place a face down and end my turn" she grunted.
"Too bad, so sad, MY TURN!" he chuckled as he drew.
Yang was having a good time at the graduate party, but there was a feeling in the back of her mind. She tried Ruby's scroll and it went to voicemail
"Ruby where are you?"
"Still can't get her?" her father asked walking over, a cup of drink in his hand
"Nope, I guess she has it in player mode and is listening to music" Yang sighed before she had some of her own drink "I'm going to be in Ra Yellow; I know it" she sighed
"So was I, nothing wrong about that, heck Summer" he father paused
"hard to imagine the best duellist was a Slifer" Yang chuckled
"So was most of my team, even Qrow" her father told her.
"I know, don't mock the red" Yang smiled cheering her father back downing her drink
"DUDE, TORCHWICK'S BEEN SIGHTED IN TOWN" a student cried
"WHAT ON THE SAME NIGHT THEY HAD US TEST!?" another student shouted
"That can't be just be random" Yang's father said before an explosion was heard
"What was that?" Yang asked
"MY TURN!" the thief said as he looked at his hand "oh lookie, Delinquent Duo" he said as Ruby's cards were shown again "I discard one card, and you do too, all at the cost of 1000 life points" [TLP 3000-2000] "so the left most card goes to the graveyard"
"Great" Ruby said discard it before smirking and discarding another card.
"Now I play Tremendous Fire, you lose 1000 life points, but I also lose 500. Next I summon Axe Raider (Lvl 4/EARTH/Warrior/ATK 1700 DEF 1150)
"My monster is still stronger" Ruby called out
"Indeed, but how long will it last for when I equip Axe Raider with Axe or Despair. Giving it 1000 more attack points" the thief smirked. (ATK 1700+1000=2700)
"Uh oh" Ruby panicked a bit
"Now, PRUNE THAT DRAGON!" the thief shouted as the Axe Raider charged to Black Rose Dragon
"NEGATE ATTACK!" Ruby shouted flipping up a face down card revealing a rather useful trap card which stopped his attack
"A Little annoying I have to say, but oh well" the thief shrugged and place a pair of cards face down.
"Anyway, it's my turn!" Ruby said drawing, smiling as she "First I'll play...MONSTER REBORN! come back to the field my Fire Princess, but she won't be staying for long since I'll turn my level two Nitro Synchron and my Fire Princess!" she shouted making Nitro Synchron explode into rings while Fire Princess turned into four stars "LET'S REV IT UP AND BOOST INTO THE DUEL NITRO WARRIOR!" Ruby declared as a giant bug look warrior appeared (Lvl 6/FIRE/Warrior/Synchro/Effect/ ATK 2800 DEF 1800) and now his effect will kick in after I play remove trap to destroy your fiendish chains" Ruby called out as Nitro Warrior got buffer
"WHAT GIVES!" the thief exclaimed
"Oh, nothing just one of his special abilities: When I play a spell card, during the next damage calculation he gains 1000 attack points!"
"Yikes" the thief said
"Now go, NITROUS KNUCKLE!" Ruby called out as Nitro Warrior attacked Axe Raider, who held up the Axe of Despair, only for it to break and the monster shatter [TLP 2000-1100] "now, my Black Rose Dragon will burn your Time Thief!" Ruby said as pink and purple burning rose petal hit the Time Thief, destroying it [TLP 1100-500] And with that I end my turn" she said smiling
"Well Red, as much fun as this, I have to go now" the thief said as a airship flew over them, and hovered with a spotlight shining down on them "And now you have to go"
"What?" Ruby asked as a dragon made of flames appeared "That's not a hologram is it?"
"No it is not" the thief said as he got on board, while the dragon shot at Ruby, her duel disk deactivating
"NO!" Ruby shouted as she covered her face with her arms.
G'day Guys Grizz here, and man this has been a long time in the works, how long you ask...the end of March so around the midway point of Volume 9. Yeah that's a long time and I'm only now posting it while I'm working on other projects and the third chapter of this one. Another thing I like to say is that this is a Recursive fic of TheMaster4444's Card of Remnant. One of the best RWBY Yu-Gi-Oh fusion fics I've ever read seriously you've finished this chapter go and read that one and enjoy the ride, as well this fic will take elements from all of the animes except Sevens due to me not seeing a lot of that. But look for a lot of GX stuff since I like that one the best, yes even more the the original one, plus I will also be doing remixed plot elements from RWBY so don't dread the less exciting bits of it.
