"Damn, it's today!"

Cedric yelled out upon remembering something all alone in the workshop… well not quite "all alone"

"Language!" a voice from behind reprimanded him. It was from his mother

"Sorry Ma" He turned to the portrait of his parents with an apologetic look on his face "Didn't know you were watching"

"Goody is busy with the council planning for tonight's game. So I decided to check up on you" his mother replied, finally coming out from the portrait

"Bad timing, Ma. Cause I have a dilemma" Cedric responded

"What's wrong, Ceddykins?"

"I just realized tonight would be the New Year's Ball, and I don't have someone to ask out yet" he made his way to his chair and sat down

"Ooooh, what a shame, Dear. I'm sure girls would be lining up to dance with a handsome boy like you"

"You're the only one who thinks that, Ma" he frowned

"Not quite" suddenly, the sorceress remembers something "You know who I want you to ask out.."

Cedric let out a nervous chuckle "Hah, here we go…"

Winifred made her way to a wall where a piece of paper of certification from a school was framed and kept in a good transparent case. It was given to him a long time ago. Winifred pointed at it

"Oh no no, Ma. Not her" he was quick to retort

"She's the perfect girl for you, Ceddykins!" The elder sorceress clamped her hands and twirled mid air "She's bright, dresses nice, talks politely, goes to church every Sunday and is very kind to everyone"

"AND she's also the princess of Enchancia, the daughter of my employer and the protector of realms." Cedric was quick to cut in before his mother could continue

"Doesn't she sound lovely?" she batted her eyes at him

"She sounds too good to be true. And no way she's gonna agree to go with me." Cedric shook all those crazy thoughts away and stood up from his seat

"It's not that late yet. Perhaps there's a girl out there who doesn't have a date yet. I have to at least try or I'm going nowhere near that party" he added

"Make sure to ask her, Ceddykins"

Chuckling, Cedric couldn't help but find silliness in what he just heard. Because there's no way in hell that she doesn't have a date yet. She probably has a whole line of suitors waiting in line to ask her to the dance or something

Either ways, he had to go

"Imma head out, Ma. Say hi to Pa for me" Cedric turned before making his way to the door

"Tulips, she loves tulips!" she blurted out randomly

"Tulips?" Cedric asked

"She loves tulips"

"You mean…"

"Yes, Ceddykins. She told me in one of their visits"

"Ma, I am not gonna ask her out" he finally had enough and gripped the knob and finally left the workshop

"Stubborn as always…" Winifred just sighed as she noticed a certain picture frame of her son and a certain young lady on the table. She then reaches out to it, and just in once glance – she knew there was something in that smile of hers and the way she was looking at Cedric

"Oh dear…" Winifred only whispered as she rests the picture frame back to the table next to his hand crafted wand case
