"That's cute but… aren't you a little bit too young for me?
Madame Collette raised her eyebrow in disapproval as Cedric just forced a nervous smile
"Well, my wisdom is just as mature" he tried to pull a fast one but to no avail. The elder woman simply just turned around and went the other way, leaving him all alone by himself
Cedric just sighed – even women twice his age won't even agree to go to the ball with him
"I can't believe I just witnesseed that… seriously?"
A certain blonde princess came from a corner approached Cedric with the disturbed expression on her face "Did you seriously just make a move on Ma'am Collette?"
"I just invited her for the ball. Nothing about it." Cedric clarified
"uhuh…" Amber scorned as she opened her fan to her chin with suspicion in her voice "And you must already know that she has a husband, kids and even a grandchild already?"
Hearing that made him cringe. He didn't know.
"I was told she didn't have anyone.."
"By who?" her eyebrow raised
"By me.." out of nowhere, her identical twin appeared from the side with a smirk on his face "That was the funniest thing I've seen all week!"
"Yeah… like father like son" Cedric whispered, annoyed by the similarities with the man earlier
"James, how could you? That wasn't funny at all!" Amber hissed
"Well, I keep telling Cedric to just invite a certain someone but he wouldn't listen." James reasoned out which made Amber return her gaze back to the man
"What's the matter? Are you too good for my sister now, is that it?" her eyes narrowed in hostility
"O-Of course not" he stumbled upon his words hearing that "Quite the opposite. You know I have no business asking someone like her for New Year's Ball"
"And why is that?" Amber suspiciously asked
"Because she definitely already has someone.." Cedric answered "And I'd be saving myself the embarrassment."
The twins looked at each other and just shrugged.
"Did you at least ask her that or just assumed things?" Amber asked
"I don't have to ask her. I already know what she is gonna say" he responded
"Aren't you a bit stubborn about this, Ced?" James added – ironic coming from the most immature man-child of all the kingdom
The sorcerer sighed. He's had enough of this interrogation "Just leave me be for today. I'm sure I'll find a woman eventually." He looked around while stretching his arm "I'll surprise ya'll with the most gorgeous woman of all Enchancia in my arm tonight"
"First of all… that's impossible" Amber rested her hands on her hips "Because the most gorgeous woman in the kingdom is… you're looking at her" she uttered without hesitation and with every bit of confidence
"You're gonna be Cedric's date for tonight?" James' eyes widened in surprise looking at her sister
"As much as how tempting to have a princess to the ball sounds… I don't want any conflict with Prince Desmond." Cedric answered for her
"Well… we do know one more princess who just happens to know you and vice versa" Amber insinuated
"And she doesn't have any commitments to any guy in particular" James added, giving a wink in addition
"Will ya'll just shut up!" Cedric grunted in annoyance "I already told ya'll. I got this!"
Before they could hot another snarky remark, the sorcerer made sure to walk away and leave the conversation behind.
