Be Your Own Hero
Chapter 3 - A New Encounter
Within the Alley.
3:15 p.m.
Izuku is being dragged by his former childhood friend turned bully, "Kacchan", Katsuki Bakugou, by his shirt. He feels immense pain as he is being dragged like a worthless waste. Kacchan's lackeys follow behind, ensuring Izuku can't escape. Even they have sinister grins on their faces as they make their way further into the alleyway. As they walk, they sense a familiar, invisible energy enveloping the area.
"Seems like Nagi's Quirk is in effect, Bakugou," Metal Fist, aka Tetsuo Butsukawa, remarks to Bakugou as he notices Nagi's Quirk becoming active.
Katsuki huffs in response. "I know that. You don't need to be so fuckin' obvious," he responds to his two lackeys, who shrug their shoulders as they arrive at the end of the alleyway.
"Gotta admit, his quirk is useful for this sort of stuff." Fingers, also known as Hide Yubinaga, also praise his friend Nagi's Quirk for being useful in their current situation. Yubinaga surveys the area, becoming quieter as time passes.
As they forcefully drag him for some time, Izuku's captors finally give him a moment to catch his breath after they stopped. He takes a deep breath, relieved that the choking sensation has subsided.
Rolling his eyes in annoyance, Bakugou shows no regard for Izuku's safety as he abruptly flings him towards the wall. The collision generates a resounding thud, causing Bakugou's followers to mockingly exclaim "oof". Izuku, who got thrown, crumples down to the floor after crashing to the wall.
"Arrgh…!" Continuing to squirm, Izuku lets out a moan of pain as he feels the soreness in his body from hitting the wall. The mocking grins and angry sneers from his bullies are still fresh in his mind, as they always seem to take glee in seeing him suffer.
Seeing the pathetic weakling on the floor, Katsuki couldn't help but to click his teeth in annoyance. 'Worthless Deku… Always was and still weak and pitiful.'
Having such thoughts, Katsuki walks up to the nerd lying on the floor with both hands in his pockets. No matter how many times his red-colored, scowling eyes fixed on him, the weak, pitiful sight of Deku always irritates Katsuki. As Katsuki walked to the nerd, the sound of Deku's pitiful cry grated on Katsuki's nerves, and he would gag because he could even smell the fear from the weak nerd! The way Deku slouched and trembled only fueled Katsuki's irritation! Even now, Katsuki could feel his fists clinched further inside his pockets, feeling a surge of frustration wash over him.
As he was before the nerd, Katsuki clenched his teeth and scowled as he stared down at Deku, fixated on the frail and pathetic figure before him. The weak, pitiful sight of Deku always irritates Katsuki. This feeling had been present since they were in diapers. Whenever Katsuki encountered the weak nerd, an inexplicable urge overcame him. Emotions surged through him, overflowing him with intense feelings. These feelings are anger, annoyance, contempt, irritation, and jealousy.
Despite such thoughts, Katsuki couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity for Deku. Despite the nerd always displayed such a pitiful appearance, a twinge of sadness elicited within him deeply. A guilt weakness that he always ignored.
Snapping out of his thoughts, Katsuki walks up to the nerd lying on the floor with both hands in his pockets. Abruptly stopping right before the nerdy guy, Katsuki grabs him by the uniform and pulls him up, slamming him against the wall once again. "Now look up and tell me, Deku." As Katsuki's anger reached its peak, he demanded Deku to look up and confront him. As Deku looked up at Katsuki, he met him with the same weak, terrified, and annoying expression he had since he was a kid. "Why didn't you say goodbye to us, huh?!"
THUD!
Without hesitation, Katsuki threw a powerful punch aimed at Deku's left cheek as he demanded.
"Urrgh…!" After the punch, all Katsuki heard was the weak Deku's annoying squirming and whining.
Rolling his eyes in irritation, Katsuki glared at the weak nerd. "It's not rocket science, nerd, so hurry and fucking tell me, you little Quirkless shit!"
THUD!
With a menacing yell, Katsuki launches another punch towards the weak nerd's face, demanding answers from him.
Izuku winces in pain after receiving punches from Katsuki Bakugou, the bully future number one hero. Despite being repeatedly hurt by his bully friend, Izuku still accepts everything from him. No matter what, he just doesn't want to hurt his friend's career.
"W-why do you want me to say goodbye?" he mutters with a pained expression on his face. He answered while holding the intense pain he had on his cheek.
Despite receiving the answer he wants, Katsuki's frustration only intensifies. He's irritated by the stubborn resilience displayed by that annoying nerd. No matter how many times Katsuki puts him in his place, breaking his spirit through both mental and physical means, the nerd always bounces back!
Feeling overwhelmed by such emotions, Katsuki grinds his teeth more than ever! He pushes Deku against the wall once more and gives him a menacing glare. It looks like the nerd needs an extra push!
"It's because I said so, Deku!" Katsuki launched a lower uppercut with his pawn opened, hitting his opponent in the stomach as he exclaimed.
THUD! BOOM!
When Katsuki's pawn contacted the nerd's stomach, a loud explosion occurred. It was Katsuki's Quirk, Explosion, which it works by him sweating a nitroglycerin-like substance from his palms, which he can detonate at will. With his awesome Quirk, Katsuki can defeat and kill any villains that dares to stand in his fucking way! A perfect fucking Quirk suited someone destined to become the next number one hero!
As Katsuki's pawn contacts the nerd's stomach, a loud explosion occurs. It is Katsuki's Quirk, Explosion, which works by him sweating a nitroglycerin-like substance from his palms, which he can detonate at will. With his awesome Quirk, Katsuki can defeat and kill any villains that dare to stand in his fucking way! A perfect and absolute Quirk suited someone of his Katsuki's status. The man who will become the next number one hero after All Might!
"Gurgh…!" As he writhes and coughs in agony, Izuku feels an intense burning sensation in his stomach. The pain is too much for him to bear, causing him to lower his head.
"Who says you can look down at me, you worthless Deku?!" Katsuki screeches in anger. He can't tolerate such disobedience!
Sadly, Izuku couldn't catch his breath even if he want to as he felt his hair being yanked roughly by Katsuki. As he is being pulled roughly to look up, he meets Bakugou Kacchan's malicious grin and reddish gaze.
"So, you ready to talk now? Or do I have to get more persuasive?" With a menacing look on his face, Bakugou spoke as his palm emitted tiny sparks.
Despite wanting to withhold his answers, Izuku didn't have the guts. He wants to, but he can't because the abuse, trauma, and fear implanted by his former childhood friend embeds deep within him. With reluctance, he quivers his mouth in sadness and opens his mouth while praying he won't receive another beating.
"I…! I was… going home…!" Izuku's voice came out as a barely audible whisper.
Trembling before Katsuki, Izuku couldn't help but feel afraid. However, he knew he couldn't blame himself for his fear. Even now, his entire body shook with nervousness and fear.
Katsuki's fists clenched tightly as he sneered at the response provided by the nerd. "So what, you do that all the fucking times!" He spoke, and he slammed Deku against the wall again.
THUD!
As Izuku slammed against the wall, he felt his heart pounding fast. He even felt a cold sweat dripping down from his forehead to the side of his sideburn. Grimacing once more from the pain, Izuku tried to steady himself, counting to 10 to calm his nerves.
As Izuku counted, Katsuki expressed his annoyance with a grunt. He gave the nerd a menacing glare, and added his Quirk to slowly burn his own shoulder, as if to warn Izuku of the consequences of his actions.
"I'll make it clear through that shitty thick-headed skull of yours…! Tell me, or I'll burn you to a fucking crisp…!" Bakugou speaks with a menacing look on his face, emitting tiny sparks from his palm as he calmly terrorizes Izuku.
Hesitation consumed Izuku because of Bakugou Kacchan's constant complaints and sneers. The dread and terror of getting beaten by Katsuki, coupled with his Quirk, made him reluctant to answer. Despite having little choice at hand, Izuku prepared for the worst and pushed through, ready to face whatever was coming. Taking a short, deep breath, he braced himself for the worst as he finally answered.
"…I-I was going home…b-becayse I was g-going to c-cook dinner for my mom." Izuku stutters as he answers, causing the bullies to fall silent. While the tone is whipping and pathetic, it contains Izuku's will to stand up for himself.
Inko Midoriya, the mother of Izuku Midoriya, is working night shifts for a few days because of her colleagues' involvement in an accident. Despite being a single mother, she has raised Izuku on her own since her husband divorced her after receiving his Quirk test result. Izuku wants to express his gratitude for her tireless efforts at taking care of him. Especially since being a single mother to a Quirkless child like Izuku is challenging. However, Inko's unwavering dedication shows a mother's unwavering love for her child. If it wasn't for his mom, Izuku wouldn't have made it this far in his life of a hellish nightmare.
As the bullies hear the answer from the lanky nerd, Tetsuo and Hide can't help but stifle their snickers and chortles. They have to admit, the nerd's feeble attempt to please his mom with a dinner is downright respectful. But, it replaces their respectfulness with some form of sympathy mixed with ridicule and mockery.
Meanwhile, Bakugou growled, baring his teeth in a mix of distaste, annoyance, and anger towards the nerd. The sweet, cinnamon-like smell from his Quirk's sparks filled the air. His contorted expression was enough to make anyone tremble in fear. '…This shitty nerd…!' Bakugou saw the nerd's worthless attempt to care for his mother didn't consider praiseworthy in his dictionary. In fact, Katsuki registered only as an insult to Auntie Inko and couldn't stand for it! He felt sorry for Auntie Inko to take care of such a shit waste like Deku. To Bakugou, the nerd was incapable of standing up for himself and his goals to become a Hero were just a truck full of horseshit! Hell, the nerd didn't even fucking man up to train his pathetic twig of a body too! All Deku ever did was just whining and complaining about his rough-handling from others! What's worse is that the nerd continued to write that irritating, useless and creepy shits on his fucking hero notebook! Shits that couldn't do jack against Villains!
Bakugou's rage erupted as he faced Deku, his fists clenched tight. "You, the Quirkless Deku, trying to be a dutiful son to Auntie Inko?! Why fucking bother when you're a fucking useless piece of shit!" He shouted, throwing a punch towards Deku's face.
THUD!
"Kurgh!" Izuku winces in pain from the sudden punch, throwing his head off in a big way.
"Don't make me laugh, Deku!" With no regard for his safety, Bakugou continued his "putting down" as he beat the nerd with a hateful glare. "You can't even take care of your own mom when you're this pathetic and weak!" Bakugou's angry words only fueled his violent attack.
After his resentful roar, Katsuki given Deku the beat-down to truly show his place below his feet! Katsuki beat Izuku for several dozen minutes with overwhelming resentment. The beat-down was brutal as Katsuki's fists, plus his kicks landed blow after blow on his face, stomach, and ribs. The sound of Katsuki's quirk accompanied each punch, creating a tense and scary atmosphere. Izuku's cries of agony and pain echoed endlessly, piercing the air like a thousand needles.
As Bakugou unleashed blow after blow, the two bullies flinched and their faces contorted with a mixture of fear and relief. They were well aware of his hot-tempered personality and knew just how brutal he could be. However, they were grateful that they weren't his primary targets and that the other students at Aldera were safe from his wrath.
BOOM!
The two's thoughts snapped when Bakugou unleashed the final blow with his powerful quirk. They watched as the weak Deku crumpled to the ground, his uniform singed and his face battered and bloodied from Bakugou's merciless attack. Accompanying the ruthless beat-down is the metallic scent of blood and sweat filled the musty back alley, adding to the tension.
As Bakugou stepped back, it was clear that he had had enough. Despite his brutal assaults, he panted heavily and continued to glare at Deku with a look of pure hatred, taking in the sight of his pathetic and weak moment.
'Fuckin' Deku. That's should be enough to teach him he is below me.' As he slowly caught his breath, Katsuki glared down at Deku. He clinched his teeth with both annoyance and anger at the nerd. 'He always pissed me off. This fuckin' weak Quirkless Deku dares to look down on me all the times!' As Katsuki reminisced about his childhood days with the nerd, he couldn't help but clench his teeth tightly. He vividly recalled how the nerd had always challenged him when Katsuki was teaching others to know their place.
"Stop it, Kacchan! I-if you don't stop, t-then I-I'll make you stop it!"
Katsuki felt a burning rage inside him every time he saw Deku defied him. His fists clenched and his muscles tensed as he seethed with anger. His heart rate increased and his breathing became shallow and rapid. He could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins, urging him to take action against the one person who dared to challenge him. His eyes narrowed as he glared at Deku, his whole body vibrating with the intensity of his emotions. Katsuki knew he had to put the nerd in his place, to show him who was truly the strongest and most worthy of being a Hero!
'A Hero without Quirk… What a load of shit!' As Katsuki approached the squirming Deku on the ground, he clicked his teeth in annoyance. Without hesitation, he lifted one leg and began grinding his foot against the nerd's head to relieve his pent-up frustration. 'How dare Deku fuckin' look down at me?! Me, the future number one Hero of the next generation!'
Overwhelmed by such a surge of emotions, Katsuki didn't want to stop putting the nerd in his place. He continued to unleash his fury on the weak nerd!
The bullies looked on in shock and horror. Both knew Bakugou had both brutality and tempers to match his powerful Quirk. They knew Bakugou was always aggressive and hot-headed, showing his superiority to anyone who dares to look at him in the wrong way. But, today, they see another level of brutality from Bakugou's side. Despite Deku was holding on, but his body was weak and he was no match for Bakugou's explosive quirk along with his physical prowess.
Izuku was being relentlessly beaten, feeling his bones cracking and his organs bruising under the force of the punches. Despite his longing to scream for help, his weakened state left him incapable of uttering a sound. Despite the excruciating pain inflicted by his bully, a single thought consumed his mind.
Without a Quirk, you're worthless.
Izuku was born without a quirk, a defining trait in their society that determined one's worth and future success. In such a world, Izuku was the foreign element. An anomaly that wasn't fitted in this world he lives in. But he didn't give in. Despite without powers and no place that would waste their time on a Quirkless kid, Izuku trained his mind with no one's help. He developed and nurtured it like it was the last day of his life! Izuku began writing his "Hero Notebooks." He studies each Hero's strengths, weaknesses, skills, and techniques. Izuku examines any elements that could help him achieve his dream. He is determined to learn everything he can to become a hero himself. Day after day, he pours over his notebooks, absorbing as much information as possible. He knows that becoming a hero is difficult, but he believes that with enough knowledge and hard work, he can achieve his goal. He was determined to prove he was worthy of becoming a Hero like his role model, All Might did!
But, reality is cruel.
Although Izuku was intelligent and determined, he received no recognition for his efforts. Instead, he got constantly belittled and ridiculed by those around him. Every day passed, Izuku's dream of becoming a Hero seems grim, unattainable. Even now, Izuku only felt sorry and bitter about being a burden to his mother. His mother, who supported and cared for him despite being a Quirkless. Despite being a kid who weighed heavily on his mind, as it felt like the world had deemed him unworthy of existing.
Izuku felt like he was living in a never-ending nightmare, and he was just… tired of it.
…Tired of everything that happens to him.
As the thought consumed the young Quirkless, Bakugou seemed to have had enough. He stepped back, panting heavily and glaring at Deku with a look of pure hatred.
'Fucking Deku! That should show him to know his place!' Katsuki's expression turned satisfied with sadistic glee. Even now, his nose twitched with sadistic satisfaction as the metallic scent of blood filled the air. He relishes in the pain he was causing to the nerd as he grinds his feet against the nerd's body.
"Urgh…. Arggh…!"
The nerd's whimper cry of agony was music, a glorious symphony to Katsuki's superiority! He towered over Deku, his fists clenched and his eyes filled with menacing glee. He enjoyed seeing his former friend suffer, relishing in the power he held over him. For the longest time, Bakugou always makes sure the worthless Deku knows his place. After all, ever since that day where the nerd had the nerve to offer his fucking hand to him, that's the start of it. That is the start of Katsuki's one-sided, deep-seated rivalry that had been brewing for years, fueled by jealousy, insecurity, and a desire for power.
Izuku's body was limp and lifeless, his breathing shallow and ragged. 'Ahhhh...I feel so dizzy...and I feel so light-headed.' He thought to himself, as the pain was too much for him to bear. His mind slipped away into the darkness. The world around him faded into obscurity, leaving him alone with the sensation of agony, and the ground beneath them became painted with crimson.
Katsuki removes his foot from Izuku's head and steps back to admire his handiwork. "At the least, the nerd puts up a decent display of being a punching bag!" Katsuki grins, feeling a rush of adrenaline and power coursing through his veins. He wins another battle, and Izuku is nothing but a broken, wooden doll like his fucking name says!
But even so... Katsuki's satisfaction is replaced with frustration. It twists his face in a snarl, and his eyes blaze with fury as he vents his frustration on his helpless victim. Katsuki knows that the so-called "nerd" has a remarkable ability to bounce back, even after enduring many beatings from him. Despite Katsuki's repeated pummeling of the pathetic weakling, the latter always rises again. Every time Deku gets back up, Katsuki always feels a tight knot form in his stomach.
…Why?
…Why…?! …Why…?! …Why…?!
WHY?!
Despite knowing that he is right, Katsuki can't help but feel frustrated all the time. He has always been putting in the work no matter what it is - studying, working out, eating healthy food, or practicing his quirk to become the Hero he will be! This is something that all the adults and other extras acknowledge from the beginning! He knows he will become the next Number One Hero after his role model!
…And yet…
Despite being aware of the facts, Katsuki can't help but feel frustrated and angry. It has always been there since he started this whole thing.
As Bakugou relentlessly ground his feet on the helpless nerd with such thoughts, Tetsuo and Hide felt a handful of sympathy for the Quirkless victim.
"Should we stop Bakugou?" As Hide whispered to his friend, he expressed his concern that they wouldn't get their turn at this rate. He kept his voice low so that Bakugou wouldn't hear and lash out at him for interrupting. Hide was wary of incurring Bakugou's wrath and wanted to avoid at all cost.
"Nah, let's not get ahead of ourselves." Shaking his head, Tetsuo whispered his reply. "And besides, Bakugou's riled up extra today." As he gestured his head towards Bakugou, who had a menacing sneer on his face, he commented. "So, let him have his moments." With a few words, Tetsuo spoke, and his long-fingered partner nodded in understanding.
"Gotcha…" As Hide understood, he took out his phone, opening its screen. "I guess I'll take a few photos of Deku's beating then…" As Hide spoke, he tapped his finger on the screen, preparing to take another beating from the nerd. He opened his picture app, intending to capture the moment for commemoration.
"What you bastard should do is to stop him instead of taking fucking photos."
At that moment, a sudden, deep voice of a boy shook the bullies, abruptly interrupted them. They all turned their heads towards the back, where a person had appeared and caught their attention.
The person was around the same age as the four, maybe a year or two older. As he leaned against the wall, his intense glare towards the three bullies froze them in their tracks.
'What the hell?!'
'Where did he come from?!'
Tetsuo and Hide found themselves in a state of panic when they were suddenly immobilized by a terrifying figure.
With piercing eyes that glared at them, the person's gaze was a mixture of steel-grey and amber orange, which made the glare all the scarier. He also had a short, messy black hair that had a pink tip at the end of the strands to accompany his dual-colored gaze.
Meanwhile, Katsuki scoffed with mockery as he saw the pathetic sight of his lackeys.
'Fucking' idiots got whipped by that fuckin' nobody.' He ignored the weaklings and narrowed his red eyes towards the dual-colored eyes freak.
'...This bastard.'
He swiftly assessed the extra and knew only one thing to understand.
'He's strong…'
Only that one thought filled Katsuki's mind. Even now, standing before him only made Katsuki realized he was a skilled fighter.
As the stranger stands there, he notices the blonde-haired kid eyeing him up and down. Despite the dark-teal military jacket he wears, his lean yet muscular build is not entirely hidden. The blonde-haired kid is observant enough to notice the hidden muscle underneath his dark gray v-neck t-shirt with a white collar. The stranger also notices the kid's keen observation skills extend to his legs, which are strong and well-defined in his jeans. Lastly, the mid-calf height black combat boots he wears look substantial enough to be effective, yet he remains nimble and skilled.
The more he sees, the more Katsuki realizes the extra before him is strong and skilled. Even now, the extra's intense glare only reinforces Katsuki's suspicions. Even now, he can feel a dangerous sensation coursing through his body. Without hesitation, Katsuki assumes his combat stance, slowly positioning himself with a wider stance and his arms out in response. As he spreads his legs, small sparks emit from his palm, adding to the intimidating effect. Katsuki wants to measure the thug by using cheap, scare tactics to assess and intimidate his potential opponent.
As the man in a military jacket watches, he can't help but be impressed with the blonde-haired kid's strength and tactical prowess. 'Hmm... Besides the two, that blonde-haired kid has some skills at least...' Despite the use of scare tactics, the stranger remains unfazed. Instead, he raises his eyebrows in interest, unimpressed by the attempted intimidation.
'…Tch. Scaring him with these petty tricks won't get us anywhere.' Katsuki clicked his teeth in annoyance. With that information alone, Katsuki raised his alertness and prepared for battle.
As Katsuki planned his next move, the stranger turned his attention to Izuku on the ground, who was unconscious from the bleeding he had on his head. 'The kid on the floor is looking bad. I better get this situation sorted out first.'
"…You should end your farce right now." The stranger spoke, snapping at the thoughts of the three bullies. "I don't know what you had against the poor kid, but if you don't get him to the hospital, he'll die." He spoke the truth, trying to prevent further conflict, as there was a life at stake.
As soon as they heard the response, the three bullies displayed different reactions on their faces.
Hide and Tetsuo admitted within their minds. They do realized that their usual rough handling sometimes crosses a line. It amazed both that they were still in one piece. Though, they did wondered and worried if Deku would call them out if it went too far. There were reports on discrimination against Quirkless people in the news, despite the lack of concern of most people. Though these reports were reported with proper care, it was unfortunately a rarity because the Quirkless population was few in numbers. Despite such facts, Hide and Tetsuo knew they had to be mindful of their actions because they were afraid of the consequences.
Except one person.
Katsuki clenched his fists and tightened his jaws when he heard those words. Anger coursed through his veins because the extra spoke absolute fucking nonsense at Deku's worthless state! Get fucking Deku to the hospital? Why the fuck he should?! Katsuki knew Deku practically lived in such a place since he couldn't handle such roughing from him and the others! It was a fuckin' joke that Katsuki couldn't laugh about it. In fact, the words only caused his body tensed further, ready to lash out against the extra to dare speak such useless shit!
But still…
Katsuki gritted his teeth in frustration. Despite his explosive temper (A fact Katsuki hates to admit), he wasn't a dumbass to risk charging at the extra. But still… Katsuki wasn't planning to back down because he knew one thing. One absolute thing that remained the truth!
'I'll just need to overwhelm the bastard with my absolute speed and power! Yeah! As soon as I get the blast going, I'll kick his ass so bad that he would beg the great me to stop!'
Such thoughts filled with Katsuki's mind. Only victory and absolute confidence in his strength and talents made his usual scowl filled with arrogant and prideful sneering grin. He wasn't cocky as hell (yeah, right… *rolling eyes*), but he was confident enough to defeat this extra! Katsuki Bakugou doesn't know the word "retreat" because that was only for the weaklings and extras! He wasn't the one to back down from a fight! Just like All Might do with the other fucking weaklings! That's why Katsuki refused to back down. Even getting a few good hits from extras wouldn't get the best of him!
The stranger feels disappointed and disgusted as he observes the bullies' expressions. Even now, their responses are something the stranger expects, but the blonde-one's expression is a shock.
'That kid believes he is the best or something… A kid with a superior complex.' The stranger sighed, shaking his head. 'Though I admit he has skills to back it up, the bastard doesn't know shit about basic respect for others.' Although he acknowledged the kid's skills, he still felt disgusted by his actions. The green-haired kid lay on the ground, unconscious. The stranger knew a fact and clicked his teeth in a mixture of annoyance and concern.
"I better pick up the pace…" He muttered under his breath, and getting ready to intervene. An action that the bullies noticed and somehow getting ready as well.
"Shit, here he comes…!" Hide muttered in panic as he somehow using his fingers to get it long and coming up with a pathetic stance he calls his 'fighting pose.'
Tetsuo rolled his eyes at the pathetic sight. He then brought his fists together, and somehow his fists become black-colored and sheen under the light. He then took up an orthodox stance of a boxer. "Bakugou, need any backup?"
The stranger quickly picked up on the fact that the other person had some experience, and adjusted his own approach accordingly.
"No, I don't, Metal! Fuck off!" Bakugou yelled at Tetsuo's gesture, feeling that it was an insult to his greatness. He took his stance in a wider position, getting ready to pounce on him.
Approaching the bullies, the stranger hoped for his 'help' to arrive on time. After all, he nearly got himself out of a real mess after his last involvement with a certain vigilante in a certain ward.
'I just hope Detective Tanuma would make in time.'
As he took his fighting stance and approached the group of bullies, his mind wandered back to the events that led up to this confrontation.
The moments where he, Tatsuya Arakawa, had a phone conversation with Tanuma, strolling through the bustling streets of Musutafu.
