Chapter 55: Saga of an Adjutant

Summary:

While Schugel was a known Talented but excentric Genius, like most of their world, many had to agree, his latest Inventio was and DID bring trouble. Zettour and the rest of General Staff sole respite? Now the enemies of the Empire would have A LOT OF NIGHTMARES. Follow the Records of the lone, loyal and smitten Adjutant that was tasked with keeping the resulting problems under check.

Many things in this world are a Mystery to me, no matter how long their presence next to me gives the chance to learn them, one such mystery is the Major that leads the 203rd Aerial Mage Battallion. She's Stern, demanding, and a Scary person in general, but also a caring and patriotic leader, wanting both the best for us under her wings as well as the safety of the Fatherland. She's also a Pious girl, even if she usually wants to deny or act in the opposite way.

One of many weird things i found of her was that she didn't hold much adimiration to the Excentric but genius Doktor Schugel. He created both the Type 95 and its simpler sister the Type 97, and sure, even i had to agree his idea on how to make the V1 work did cross some lines even us Mages rather not, such as having us Guide those gigantic things that are one Reinforcement spell failure from exploding during the trip. But in general, he was like any of those brilliant minds that provided the Imperial forces with the tools to defend it.

Once he revealed his latest creation however... I do have to say, maybe the Major is right, at least in regards to Schugel. Our whole battallion had been recalled from our Mission with the ISE to hunt the Republican Forces that fled to the Colonies, from what the Major told us, General Zettour has come with a new plan based on whatever Elenium Armories managed to create once more. And the sight of what had been made by the Doktor, all too eager to show said creation of his, and apouting about it being yet another work given to him by God itself.

The idea was weird, but it DID hold some sense, a Device that could enhance a Mage's power by means of purposefully creating a so called Double of them. And he insisted however only the Major had the Mana to make such idea viable. Of course she accepted the task, Zettour however seemed to have called us all for another Purpose, a Redeployment elsewhere, and this time while Tanya goes through the preparation and execution of the test of that odd thing was for the rest of us to enjoy a brief R&R.

Whatever happened on said Test, no one knew what exactly happened or even why. But one thing was Certain, the idea DID work, to a degree, except now it wasn't that the Empire had Major Tanya with the power of two of her, we just had TWO of them. And whatever happened, the actual first test was later talked about, instead of tye Devixe doing its Job, it had Opened a Gate to another World, one where a Tanya, only the Blonde hair of hers clued the Scientists and Zettour of who came from that Accidental Portal. Whatever happened, it was to be kept a Secret, but it would be hard given that after that Tanya returned to her own Version of our World, Schugel was... Different. No more praising the lord every moment, but a far more somber and professional Scientist.

It was this new Schugel that both readjusted the Device, and admitted that whatever God intended to happen to the Major, wasn't empowering her at all. And he instead feared it was not a good thing, of course he also put that whatever the Powerful Type 95 has to keep it stable, came from whoever messed his Mind, the idea was so absurd he put that if anything bad happens after his fixing the device, he will take whatever Punishment awaits him.

And so, the second run went as planned, resulting in now a quadrupled problem. Our Major remained as she was, and just as capable, yet now there's Eight other Tanyas, each had some aspects that differ from each other. One was clearly not as Mentally Mature, and also had a Sword she swore wasn't possible keeping away from herself, one of them instead of being an Aerial Mage, was an Aerial Medic, which changed little, aside that her main proficiency was Healing people instead of Killing, but if her kicking Weiss's and Koenig's asses was any hint, our enemies better Hope she is busy keeping comrades alive, same for the Sixteen Tanyas in total...

Once things ended a few Days later, Generals Zettour and Ruddesdorf alongside Colonel Lergen were at a complete loss of WHAT to do with 48 Tanyas, each being different enough to be an issue regarding what each is most competent at. The sole common Factor on all of them are her above average Field Command capacity and overall Strategic thinking. As if to help the disastrous Stomach Ulcers the Colonel was suffering from just seeing the 48 of them neatly in formation, Me, the Major's Adjutant was put under the task of keeping the General Staff informed. Or more to the Point, Me and the Captains of the 203rd were to act as "Babysitters" of sorts in regards to them all.

Weeks Later, Imperial Border with the Rus Federation

Whatever those bastards in Moskva are thinking, the situation here had become a bloodbath, most of the Blood was from Russy Troops, but the Federation prized their Human Wave Tactics it seems, so for the Hundreds or Thousands the Forfified Imperial Lines killed with Mages support, they slowly advanced through each trench taken. Until they discovered a new Roadblock called the Tanya Battallion. Even us who are under the command of Tanya #1 feel a shiver of absolute terror seeing so many versions of her all act in unison to blast an entire Frontline to scorched ash.

But so many Tanyas brought some outliers, namely one #34, that one was unable to fly, which looked superflous to one whose specialty was suddenly calling forth over 100 flying pixies, Grantz called them that before the Metal Dog of hers started chasing him for a whole day, who each carry the very firepower of a Mage each. Not to say that she is far sturdier than a human, and the food Intake of hers exceeds even mine somehow.

Once the Lines Stabilized, thanks both to new Reinforcements and the ISE forces being called back, Command and the Government deciding that Chasing the Frogs supplied and assisted by both the Kingdom and the US as a waste of resources given the more immediate threats. Things turned around, this relief lasted little, while the Communists got desperate enough to Release the Imprisoned Mages that were still alive, it was the Albish and US Volunteer forces that brough trouble, better fed, trained and geared, some Signatures were clearly the same ones that gave the North Mages trouble in the Entente.

Time went on, and the situation had become somewhat a stalemate, on the Seas, Tanya #34 singlehandedly turned the Imperial Fleet into a true nightmare for the Kingdom's Navy, what with her singlehandedly being worth two of their Fleets in Firepower and number of Mages worth of resources. While that happened, the Submarine warfare ended bringing the US officially into the War against us. Down South, Tanya #13 was raising trouble for the Republican and Albish Troops in the Colonies, forcing them to quell one Rebellion after another, worst of all was the Jewel of the Kingdom, Bharat, that alone made them reduce massively how much personnel support they sent to the Rus and Francois.

Surely things became somewhat stable, but the Major made it clear, unless the Empire wants to have a Second Empire's Population Worth of Tanyas, no way out of Defeat, and nowadays, the situation has become rather bad, Three of their Enemies would want nothing less than Unconsitional surrender and slapping unreasonable demands to them, which means attempting to Sue for Peace is impossible. She herself accepts a good deal of that is her Many other selves doing such superb Jobs.

At the Federation, one Tanya, #27, proposed the most insane idea, let herself be caught by the NKVD who would surely bring her to Lavrenti Loria, that was only agreed by both the Empire as well the other Tanyas because of the exacts of her, namely she is a full fledged Vampire, since the Russy army had plenty of Blood, she was keeping herself fed that way, and now she suggested decapitaring the whole Federation Leadership by just getting one Idiot Vices to let her in. That the plan both worked and she stayed true to her words that Only Military personnel or Government higher ups would be used as food was a surprise to most. I just came to accept that the Major will be herself no matter the Version.

One side collapsed into Chaos, that left the Kingdom and the US as well as Republican Guerillas that had opened a Beach head, however her predictions had come true, their enemy found a Counter to Tanya, in the form of one monster of a Mage, all power but Zero skill. The Naval side was made to back off to areas in Reach of Land Airbases and Coastal batteries, to maximize 34's Ability to fill the Imediate Airspace with Pixies she controlled as well as any other Tanya danced in the air.

The act of Baiting the enemy Super Mage, Imperial Intel found her name, Mary Sioux, into causing a disastrous amount of Friendly fire on her side was only delaying the situation, 7.5 years of nonstop combat had all but exhausted our side of immediate Military manpower, and the fighting was being sustained by using the now over 2000 Tanyas as well any person they could train to at least use a Gun. It truly was Depressing, by now, the Major was relegated to keeping some key spots operational, the 203rd was the best Aerial Battallion ever, but what would we do when the enemy has adjusted their Anti-Mage Doctrine to handle TANYAS? Every Enemy Assault and Formation brought plenty of AA, Mages, Mage Killer Snipers and Aircraft nowadays just Fired salvos upon Salvos of Rockets with Timed Fuses to fill a whole Airzone in Explosions and Shrapnel.

And yet that did little, first, the Device Schugel made was moved to Maximum Security alongside him, and he diligently made sure they expanded the number of Tanyas, hence why the Major and us all nowadays were kept Stationed in a base close to Berun, the Bunker was made adjusted to what one of the Tanyas suggested, able to take as many Bombings the Enemy could manage to send here if all of them weren't moved to try snuffing out 34. But what she suggested was in case the enemy developed a new kind of Super Bomb or just sent their Mad Dog straight to Berun in a last ditch attempt. The fact that not only the Bunker withstood the dozen Bombing Runs sent here as well as that Mary was easily Baited away from here by one Tanya who flew from here to Parisii, Frontline news said that many Enemies just surrendered at the sight, not wanting to risk being in the path. While General Staff nowadays rather just use a Number to avoid remembering the harsh truth that they're using a Teenager Girl and the Many alternate versions of her as Elite Cannon Fodder, no one on the 203rd is happy, even the Major has gotten a bit caustic, remembering how she said as a Rethoric question that one about the Empire only winning if they made as Many Tanyas as there were Imperial Citizens.

Until suddenly one day, Medic Tanya just arrives, Dragging an Unconscious and fully Bound, gagged and Naked Mary to the Bunker surface Base. All for the Top of line Medical Facilities present. Her idea? Use her superb Medical Skills for one purpose, make this Bitch Harmless. That made everyone present appalled, at the many Questions of how Unethical or even claims of her playing God, she laughed, and made a Smile no one saw the Major ever Make... Her words still scare me even in memory form.

"If God was such a Kind and Nice person, he wouldn't make me be so helpless in Understanding people, he wouldn't turn the Father of this Crazy Bitch into a Suicide Bomber, would have made the idiots waging war at us see how stupid that was... If God is the Being X that allows such Absurdity happen, then i will GLADLY MURDER HIM AND TAKE HIS PLACE! Humanity needs no such 'God', needs no such higher being. Fuck God if that crap even exists, and this dumb naive idiot here is exactly what is wrong with the world. And i rather start fixing the problems now, starting by removing one of Being X's Pawns off the table."

The end result was a Living Mary, but harmless, changed to be just a Girl leashed to Obey Tanya... It scarred me, that such a Version of the Major could exist, her reaction to it was of abject horror, but she did put that into clear light, the Great War has come to such horrendous stages that Medic Tanya has become hopeless, to save one at the cost of Hundreds dead, the War had made saving people like using a bucket on a sinking ship. The war had to end, else there would be no Empire left.

A little over Half a Year Later, the War Ended, with a Negotiation of Peace, the reason was simple, Our Enemies had just accepted that Zettour's letter threatening to simply Drown their Forces with an Endless amount of Tanyas was a reality, I do see that being in a War where you're Fighting over 1.2 Million of them and their enemy claims they can up that number until they are fighting a Sea of Blonde Girls with Slasher Smiles, you rather just take your losses and leave. The War ended, neither side was even remotely in shape, recovery would take Decades for everyone, even the US, since a Dozen of Tanyas just infiltrated there and Laid waste to their Mighty Industrial Complex.

As for me? Now Colonel Viktorya Ivanovna Serebryakova? The Empire now realizes what kind of Question the now Army General Tanya von Degurechaff had asked them 4 years ago. With over 2.5 Million Tanyas, how will the Empire manage a Whole Nation's worth of them? The answer was that since i was still the "Guardian" of Tanya when Lergen's Medical conditions worsened back then, i am to be her Legal Mother. They forced me to become mom of Millions of the same person...

Schugel as of now was desperately trying to reverse the Device to undo this situation. As for Major General Lergen? Sadly he died, his Stomach Ulcer had worsened to Lethal levels as the Number of Tanyas went Past the four Digits, whatever the case, a Memorial Turbine was made in his Honor, truth was that his Corpse was rolling in the Casket at such Speeds and the Device Needed the Energy badly... So the Bunker wasn't solely to keep the Device and the Then Major safe, but to avoid Enemy Spies finding that we were using a CORPSE to generate energy.

As for me... It's weird, your Boss is also the one you're the Legal Guardian. And let me not Forget Mary, officially she is KIA, truth? Being painfully trained to be Tanya's Personal Maid, that girl however truly has little to no skill whatsoever... Curses be this Russy blood of mine, my Alcohol intake lately have gotten so bad...
