Three Years before Canon starts, Age fourteen
Nathan woke on a cot, beneath a tall wooden roof, decorated with images of a fish and crab. It was a lovely sight, but not one he expected to see. To his right was a woman, tall and present, she smiled at him, a tall trident in her hand. "There you are, I was worried I would be unable to save you. Your wounds were dire."
Confused he sat up, frowning. "I cannot remember how I got hurt..." And then, as if by magic, the memories flooded his mind. "Wait, I fell into a ravine, into a large old broken torii gate. I felt... warmth flood into my body, and before I knew it was here. It felt like I was falling into oblivion, but ..."
He saw, to his amazement, her hand glow a soft blue before landing on his head. He felt powerful something soothing the ache that came from a sharpness of fear. "You come from another world, another time. Where magic is myth and the gods are nowhere to be found... I cannot stop your future world or change your past, but I can give you a path. I will allow you to work for me, to serve me as a vassal."
"Why me? I mean, you do not know me?"
She smiled. "I can sense intelligence, compassion and goodness... I can sense a powerful spirit. I am intrigued by your world, but also by your potential... I wonder how you could react to magic, when your world is free of it. So, I ask again, would you become my vassal?"
He smiled. "If that means having safety and purpose in this world, sure... but can I learn magic? I mean, if gods exist, as you say, wouldn't Yokai exist?"
She nodded, her eyes serious and cold. "In great number. The wars feed them, increasing their power. I will allow you magical training and combat training, in part for your safety but also to give you more means to service me. Sound fair?"
"Yes, Ma'am... so...what do I call you?"
"Water Goddess, or Suijin in this tongue. My Lady is also appropriate."
"Alrighty... thank you, my lady."
She smiled. "We will begin your training tomorrow. I will not have you waste your time, you seem the type to loathe tedium."
"You'd be right."
And so he entered a new world, one with myth, magic and demons galore. His current goal, gain mastery over magic and combat, and one day,... find purpose in that very terrifying world.
He could only hope to accomplish it all.
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
I keep on circling back to this, It is the best idea, but I think a big problem is purpose and time... I think three years is enough, but I think finding purpose is harder. If you have a suggestion, feel free to add it in.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
