✧*̥˚ chapter three: are you honest? *̥˚✧
Huddled up together in the locker room, the boys were dressed and amped up for the game. Parker had been going over plays and giving the boys a pep-talk as Coach also gave a few words and advice about the game.
Parker let his eyes wander to Jamie, who was visibly nervous, to which he passed him a reassuring smile, "I know you've never been shooting guard before but James, you got this, alright? Holler at me, Rafe or Coach if you have any problems." Jamie nodded at him. Parker continued to look at the team, "Alright, Ravens, let's get out there and show 'em what we got."
Their introduction went perfectly well, all the boys ran onto court and into their positions, whereas the other team prepared themselves too.
Parker glanced toward the audience, looking to see if Jennifer was there. He passed his gaze from the cheerleaders, looking for Savannah first, and then when he caught her waving into a particular section in the audience, he followed the direction and finally found her.
Blonde beautiful hair cascaded down her shoulders, a slight blue stripe painted on her cheeks that the cheerleaders had also sported in support of the team. Parker couldn't keep his eyes off her, admiring her from where he was. She didn't notice him, she didn't need to in order to make him want to impress her. Just her being there, gave him the motivation to do the best he could.
On the sidelines of the court, a pair of green eyes watched Parker's lovestruck expression and followed his gaze toward the new girl, a sense of confusion coming over her. But Evelyn shoved it down as she lifted up her camera and captured Parker in a quick picture. Parker followed the flashing light to her and passed her a small polite wave before he realized that the game was going to start.
The gymnasium buzzed with excitement as everyone eagerly watched as the game begun. Parker took centre stage, his determined expression showing that he was ready for this. Weeks of training to get back onto his feet after taking the backseat since his sophomore year, was enough for him. Or at least he hoped it was. He shared a knowing look with Jamie, who passed him a smile and a confident wink, telling him that they were ready for this.
Standing tall beside Parker, was Andre who was mostly known for his impressive dunks, and also Charlie, the versatile small forward. Then Parker glanced at Marcus, who happened to be the best power forward that the team has ever had. Parker knew, just by looking at them and seeing how ready that they were, that they were going to do this, and they were going to end the game with the best score that they could.
Parker tightly gripped the ball when he got it, fully focused on winning. The Panthers, tough opponents as they always were, put up a good fight but the game turned into a fierce competition, with Jamie sinking a three-pointer and Andre blocking shots like it was easy. The Raven's were ahead on the points very quickly but the Panther's refused to back down. They were equally as impressive in their skills.
The pressure was mounting, and Parker knew he had to step up his game. With the score close to being tied and seconds ticking down, the crowd was on their feet, roaring with excitement.
Parker's forehead was dripping with sweat, but his mind was laser-focused - mostly upon impressing Jennifer. Dribbling the ball down the court, he analyzed the defense. With a quick feint left, followed by a lightning-fast move right, he left his defender behind. Planting his feet, he jumped from the free-throw line, sending the ball in a soaring arc towards the basket.
The clock seemed to slow down as the ball grazed the rim. It bounced twice before gracefully sinking through the net, igniting a chorus of cheers and applause from the stands as the final buzzer rang out through the gymnasium.
Parker was immediately engulfed in hugs by the team, they were jumping around him to celebrate their win. When they let him go, he turned toward Jamie, proud of the boy for playing his role so well, "You're a damn good player, Scott."
Jamie smiled widely, giving Parker another hug, "All 'cause of you, Captain." He said back before he nodded at Parker and gestured toward his family on the bleachers, "Them too." He left to go to them, whereas Parker decided that he'd go back to the locker room to get changed.
Before he could go, he was surrounded by a group of girls. He only knew some of their names but not all of them, so he greeted them politely, "Hi, how's it going?"
Jennifer noticed the charming smile that Parker kept as he spoke to the girls, paying attention to each and every one of them, seemingly enjoying the attention. She frowned at it before looking away and letting herself make her way to the cheerleaders, hoping to talk to Finley or even her little sister to take her mind off the boy.
The second that Parker had asked how the girls were doing, they began speaking at once. It was only then that Parker realized that they were basketball fans, because all they could talk about was technique and the plays. One of them went as far as to say that although they were happy they won, they could've tried a different play which garnered Parker's attention.
"What were you thinking we should've done?" He asked curiously, happy to take any pointers from the girls, especially the one who pointed out that they could've done something different. He was sure that this particular girl was part of the girl's basketball team there, she was Valentina, the centre forward. He'd gone to their games a couple times, finding that they were brutally perfect in all their plays. He'd never turn down an opportunity to learn from them.
But before he could listen to her talk, he was pulled away at the arm by Marcus who, with a wide smile and brightened eyes, apologized to the girls, "Sorry girls, I just need to borrow my Captain for a minute. I'll bring him back though, I promise?" With that, the girls had nodded before talking between themselves, whereas Parker looked at Marcus with a reciprocating smile.
"What's up?"
"Hazel's throwing a party at hers at seven, she's invited us." Marcus informed, his eyebrows raised in excitement. Parker laughed at him and shook his head but Marcus continued, "Look, I know you don't do parties but I am really buzzed right now, and I haven't been to a party since before spring break. We gotta go to this one, man." Parker hesitated but when Marcus also added that Jesse was going, he immediately agreed to go too.
"If I'd known all I had to say was that Jesse's also going to get you to say yes, I would've started with that." Parker just budged Marcus' shoulder playfully with a small chuckled.
Suddenly he noticed Jennifer out of the corner of his eye. Her stunning appearance, now adorned with a beautiful surprised smile and a gaze toward him, caused him to pat Marcus' shoulder in goodbye, "I'll catch you later, I'm just gonna go... over there." He muttered without looking away from Jennifer. Marcus only laughed and let him go before deciding to join the girls he dragged Parker away from.
Parker didn't want to seem too eager so he didn't exactly run to Jennifer, but he did approach her with a wide smile and a certain subtle self-consciousness due to his sweaty self. He didn't want to get too close just in case he looked embarrassing after playing the game like it was a seven hour gym session. But it didn't seem like Jennifer cared about that anyways.
"Hey," She beamed, her eyes twinkled with amusement, "You guys killed it out there. Congrats!" Parker felt an immediate rush of self-assurance and blushed shyly.
His voice was barely audible when he said, "Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it," He then nervously smiled and continued to ask, hoping that Jennifer would say yes to his request, "Are you, uh, going to that party today? You know, at Hazel's? Usually everyone's invited, she loves a full house so you could... come maybe, if you wanted?"
Her smile faded so slightly as she hesitated, "I don't know, I'm not really a party person, I'd rather just stay home and watch TV." Immediately, Parker felt a twinge of disappointment but he didn't show it.
He nodded and managed a smile, "Yeah, I get it. Maybe some other time."
Jennifer realized then that Parker wanted to ask her... to hang out at the party. He probably was hinting that he'd want to see her there but she was too caught up to say yes or even realize. She mentally face-palmed, but she couldn't go back on it now.
When she glanced toward the cheerleaders, she noticed Finley holding a thumbs up in question but she quickly shook her head, the second that Parker had been distracted.
Parker noticed Savannah making her way to them, and gestured to Jennifer to let her know, "I'll see you around, then?" He asked and she nodded with a small smile before letting him go, heading toward Savannah who had been glancing between them curiously.
As he began to leave the court, he felt a flush of embarrassment wave over him and frowned but before he could get lost in his thoughts, Marcus approached him with a sly grin on his face, "Looks like someone's got a crush," he teased, playfully nudging him.
Parker rolled his eyes, "Shut up," he muttered, a red blush stained onto his cheeks. When they both made their way to the locker rooms.
The locker room hit them both with a wave of sweat and the cacophony of voices, showers running in the background and lockers being slammed shut. The room was packed with players, some half-dressed, others still in their uniforms, all of them chatting animatedly about the game they had just won.
"Captain! Dude, you were insane out there. I didn't know you could play like that," Andre exclaimed, slapping him on the back when he got to his locker. He was being modest, Parker thought. Andre had done way more to get them the win, all of them did. But regardless, Parker was still proud.
"Thank you, man. I appreciate it." He muttered, trying to sound humble.
The rest of the team followed through with similar compliments, each surprised at the level that Parker had played. It was almost like watching an NBA player on the court, the way that he was running and shooting those shots. Each of them wondered why Parker never wanted to play the last year and a half especially considering that he was definitely a talented player.
After he finished changing, Parker walked to leave the locker room, holding his hand up in a small wave toward his teammates, "See you guys at the party, tonight?" He asked loudly.
Jamie replied quickly with a laugh, "See you there, old guy!"
Parker chuckled, ruffling the hair of Marcus as he walked past him, "See you in a couple of hours, Marcus." Marcus passed him a small smile before waving him off, continuing to get dressed. As Parker closed the locker room door behind him, he found Jesse sitting on a bench just opposite, his eyes glued to his phone.
Jesse looked up when he heard the door close and stood up, swinging his backpack over his shoulder and walking toward Parker, "Can I get a ride to the party tonight?" He asked, curiously, "You're still coming, right?" It was a surprise to Parker that Jesse knew that he was going but Jesse only shrugged - knowing his brother too well, "You act like I don't know you come to these parties so you can keep an eye on me."
Parker tried to play it cool, "Maybe I just want to have some fun?"
Jesse laughed skeptically, "Sure, sure," He scrolled through his phone again, probably answering a text from one of his friends, "So... are we going?"
Parker nodded, contemplating his decision. He never went to parties when he was Jesse's age, but he doesn't want to deprive him of the experience of being carefree with his friends. After a moment of hesitation, Parker made up his mind.
"Sure, why not? Yeah, let's do it."
Jesse grinned from ear to ear, his excitement palpable. Parker knew that he was about to dive into an adventure that might leave him exhausted by the end of the night.

When Parker pulled up to the house, he could feel the bass from the music vibrating through the windows of his car. It was clear that the party had already started, and it was probably going to hold the title of the best one yet. Feeling nervous, Parker scanned the yard, noticing groups of people standing around smoking and chatting.
A couple of them glanced in his direction, their eyes lingering between him and Jesse for a moment before they turned back to their conversations. He recognized a few of them from school, but most of them were strangers. It was weird to think that all of them, regardless, have found themselves together in one place for the night.
"Damn, this party is huge. Do we even know these guys?" Jesse smiled as he got out of the car, Parker following after him.
"We don't, and if the amount of smoke coming from them is anything to go by, you don't want to," Parker responded to him earnestly, passing him a warning look. There was no way that those guys were even their age, they looked like college students. The music was even louder now, and both brothers could hear the sound of laughter coming from inside.
As they both approached the front door, Parker pressed the lock button on his car keys a couple times to make sure that it was definitely locked and wouldn't be at risk of being hot-wired and driven down the street by any of these drunk students.
Hazel had been standing there, her eyes glancing between the lights of Parker's car and the brothers, "Wanna press it one more time, just in case?" She teased with a chuckle.
"You can't be too careful, Haze," Parker quipped back with a friendly smile before he gestured toward the open door, "The guys inside?" He asked causing her to nod with a growing grin rising upon her features.
Her soft eyes fluttered between the two boys before letting them in, finding herself stumbling a little bit as she moved backwards. Her hand clutched to the cup in her hands as she tried her best not to spill it but also not to crush it.
It was that moment when both Parker and Jesse realized that the girl was probably already tipsy. Parker made a mental note to keep an eye out for her just in case. When he realized that she was standing in a place in which she could trip, he softly extended his hand for her to take, hoping to direct her inside - for her safety.
Meanwhile one of Jesse's friends had noticed him from inside the house, "Hey, Jes! You coming?" One of them spluttered out and Parker passed Jesse a nod, letting him go. Jesse passed a small glance and smile to the two before disappearing inside.
Parker glanced at Hazel expectantly, waiting for her to take his hand, "Come on, let's go inside. It's cold out here." With the roll of her eyes with whatever clarity she had left in that moment, Hazel took his hand and let him take her inside.
"Parker, it's fine. I can stay outside, I mean it's my house - aren't I supposed to greet the guests?" Hazel asked, but Parker wasn't listening. Instead, he was trying to find someone who he knew could look after her so that she wouldn't find herself in trouble. His eyes passed to Finley who happened to be walking their way. He called her name, causing the brunette to look at him in expectancy, waiting for him to speak.
"You mind keeping an eye on her?" He asked, gesturing to Hazel with a pleading look, "There's no railing on the steps, and she's clumsy. She can host, and greet, but please make sure she stays inside?" Hazel was about to protest but when she caught Parker's slight glare, she shut up and smiled toward Finley, taking her arm and leaving her no choice to spend time together.
"Isn't it just delightful that Parker exists?" Hazel muttered sarcastically which Parker heard and smirked, shaking his head. He then saw Finley's slight glare toward him and smiled at her sheepishly before making his way to Marcus, who he caught at the corner of his eye.
With a bright smile, Marcus greeted him, "Well, look who decided to grace us with his presence. I was starting to think you'd abandoned us for a life of solitude and contemplation."
Parker laughed, "Even then, you'd end up bringing the party to me," He said surely, seeing the small subtle nod that Marcus responded with, not denying that it would be exactly what he would do, "You know I wasn't gonna let Jes come here alone."
Marcus took a swig of his beer and nodded, "Yeah, but you know even if you weren't here, I'd watch him for you. You'd do the same for me and Jasmine."
Jasmine, aka Jaz, had been Marcus' twin sister. She was a little late to school, and she probably wouldn't be back for a while considering her last minute trip to her grandparents. Parker had only texted her a couple times since she left, he hadn't seen her since. Marcus was right when he said that Parker would watch out for Jasmine, it was second nature for him to look out for the twins. He loved to know that they were safe.
Marcus tried to pass Parker a beer, which was rejected kindly. He shrugged and opened it for himself instead, placing his previous empty bottle to the side. That was when he caught something in front of him, "Hey, it's the new girl. I didn't know she was a party kind of person."
Parker's heart skipped a beat as he followed Marcus' gaze and there Jennifer was, looking stunning as ever, not staying at home and watching TV like she said she'd rather do. Parker wondered if he read things wrong earlier, that Jennifer truly didn't like him and therefore rejected his invitation so she could shut down any opportunity for something more. It did hurt but he accepted it.
"She's probably here for the free drinks, like the rest of us." Parker muttered, his voice slightly low in volume, almost as if his confidence had suddenly dropped.
He watched Jennifer with cautious eyes, feeling a sense of discomfort in his stomach until she looked directly at him and smiled, her bright smile making his heart beat fast. He passed her a small shy wave which prompted her to bid her temporary goodbyes to her friends and make her way towards him.
As soon as she found herself directly in front of Parker, Marcus took that as his cue to leave. He passed Parker a wink and disappeared into the crowd, leaving them alone together. Parker spoke when Jennifer was close enough to hear him, "What happened to 'I'm a stay-at-home watching TV kinda girl'? He joked, doing his best impression of her as he repeated the same words she said to him at the game, trying to remain his enlightened self.
She smiled at him and rolled her eyes, "I don't sound like that," but Parker only chuckled in response. Jennifer then watched as his eyes faltered, and she could see his defense's going up, as he moved slightly back, not wanting to cross any boundaries. She tried not to frown before she admitted, "I'm sorry, I didn't know that you were... I wasn't going to come, I thought I'd just be dropping Savannah off and then just head home but then I thought, maybe I'd get a chance to bump into you."
Parker held a genuine look of surprise, letting out a small nervous chuckle, "You came to a party that's out of your comfort zone, because you hoped you'd bump into me?" He asked, just to confirm.
Jennifer smiled and rolled her eyes, "Don't flatter yourself that much, I was also strongly persuaded to come inside by the cheerleaders, including Lily, by the way," She admitted, glancing toward Lily who had been where Jennifer had come from, talking with a group of girls.
"They're an exciting bunch, very persuasive," He commented, nodding as he understood why it was hard to say no to them.
"I know, right? They've got some kind of magic power. Maybe it's because they're all so gorgeous and confident."
Without thinking, Parker blurted out, "Well, you're pretty and confident too. You sure you're not trying to cover the fact that you know the secret to their magic power? You're just trying to keep it a secret from me, right?" Jennifer laughed at his awkwardness and Parker couldn't help but smile at the sound, it was just like music to his ears.
"You sure you haven't had a little too much to drink already?"
Parker tried to steady his beating heart when he noticed the twinkle in her eyes as the light bounced off them, "Not a sip." He muttered proudly.
Their eye contact was long, and as time passed, the tension grew which only made the both of them a little nervous. Parker tried to push down his nerves, looking away into the crowd. But it was a mistake. Because when he looked away, his eyes fell immediately onto Evelyn, who had been at the far end of the room.
Jennifer glanced the same way to see who he was looking at, seeing the same girl from the basketball game, the photographer who Parker greeted before the game started. She noticed the way Evelyn glanced their way and caught Parker's gaze, a look of guilt washing over her expression. Jennifer only nodded to herself, coming to a quick conclusion that something was clearly going on between them, or once had been.
"I think I should go, uh -"
Parker immediately looked at Jennifer and shook his head, "No," Jennifer glanced at him in surprise at his quick response and he caught himself before blushing, "I mean, I'd love to get to know you a little more, maybe we could sit and talk for a bit?" He offered, gesturing toward the now empty couch a couple steps away from them.
Jennifer hesitantly agreed before taking Parker's hand to tug him along to the couch where they both sat down. As soon as they did, the both of them fell backwards at the same time, getting comfortable which only made them both smile at the fact that they did it simultaneously, "Won't you look at that? Guess what they say is true, those who do things together, are destined to be together forever." Parker smirked, playfully.
He watched as she chuckled at his attempt at flirting and felt a flutter of butterflies in his stomach seeing how beautiful she had looked even as she responded, "That's the best you could do?"
Parker took another chance, cheekily, "No, that'd be you actually." But then he realized how that sounded and quickly his facial expression dropped and he stumbled as he stuttered, "I- I mean, uh, let's forget I said that." Jennifer found it funny, in fact, though she understood why Parker wanted to take it back, she decided that it was just banter and it shouldn't mean any harm.
"Are you saying that I'm not the best you could do?"
Parker blushed and smiled before he said, "That depends. Do you think I'm the best that you can do?" Turning it back on her was the safest option for him.
Jennifer only rolled her eyes and then smirked, "I think actually Gabriel Basso is the best that I can do, if he wasn't ten years older than me." Parker admittedly didn't know who that was but he took it anyway. He nodded in playful defeat and then sighed before he decided that he wanted to get to know more about Jennifer, who she is, what she liked. The serious things.
"So... this Gabriel Basso? Would I know him?"
"Not unless you like action thriller tv shows." So she likes watching action tv shows. That's a start.
"Tell me more." Parker asked, leaning in a little closer so that he could hear her better over the music. She'd seen how close he got to her and felt her heartbeats quicken in response before she furrowed her eyebrows, wondering if this was a move that he would usually use on girls, especially since he seemed so nonchalant about it. Nevertheless, she didn't move away and instead spoke to him about the show, unintentionally becoming excited.
Parker stared at her, almost adoringly as he watched her speak. Her voice flowed so beautifully through his ears as he flickered his eyes from hers, to her lips, fascinated by the structure of her beauty. Suddenly he felt like living in this moment forever.
Every now and then, he'd respond to let her know that he was listening, finding himself actually listening to the plot which had actually been something that interested him enough that he decided he'd watch it himself.
Their conversations flipped from the tv show to ones that were similar, to completely different topics as they begun to get closer, getting to know each other a lot more. Eventually they ended up becoming so comfortable they'd throw in a joke or two and would find themselves laughing.
Jennifer felt herself forming a crush on Parker, as he felt the same about her. She couldn't help but think of what Finley said, and how right she'd been about how you could become attracted tosomeone almost instantly, how easy it is to like someone.
The both of them felt comfortable in the others company and usually, that kind of comfort would take years. But eventually, the joys of their moment together had been cut short by a worried voice. One that struck a knife through their growing romantic tension.
"Parker, it's Eve. She's passing out." He whipped his head around at the name and found himself face to face with Marcus who gestured to the back of the room, in a direction where Parker couldn't see. Marcus glanced toward the two on the couch before he passed an apologetic smile to Jennifer, "I'm so sorry, but I think it's serious. Fin and Haze have been trying to keep her awake for the last couple of minutes but she's blackout drunk."
Parker nodded and stood up, a worried expression replacing his carefree one that he had on earlier. He glanced back toward Jennifer and apologetically muttered, "I'm so sorry, I need to go. But it was nice getting to know you, I'll see you at school?" He rushed his sentences, his voice becoming laced with worry as he let the thought of Evelyn distract him. He silently asked Marcus to keep Jennifer company before he began to walk away, not waiting for a response.
"Yeah, see you at school." Jennifer muttered as she watched him walk away, letting her gaze fall onto Marcus who took it upon himself to take Parker's seat, "Is she gonna be okay?" She asked, wondering if there was more to Evelyn's condition than just being too drunk.
Marcus frowned, wondering if he should say anything, but when he saw Jennifer's confused and concerned expression, he said, "She'll be fine, as long as she's back at home and someone's there to make sure she's good through the night." Jennifer wondered if Parker would be that someone.
Parker looked toward the last place he'd seen Evelyn and she'd still been there, though this time she was slumped over and completely wasted. His heart clenched with worry as he rushed to her, seeing both Hazel and Finley holding her up or trying their best to keep her steady and upright, "What happened?" He demanded an explanation when he glanced at the both of them, but neither of them said anything. Probably because it was obvious.
"Hey, hey, Eve," he whispered trying to get her to focus on him despite the fact that her eyes were unfocused, "Eve, look at me." She managed to glance at him, and when she noticed and honed in to those beautiful eyes of his, she smiled softly and reached to cup his cheeks, "Hey," He muttered softly, his voice calm and sweet as he smiled at her, happy that she was responding to him, even minimally.
"You're so pretty," She muttered to him and he chuckled, before taking her off Finley and Hazel's hands, placing her left arm around his shoulder as he held her waist with his right hand, trying to keep her steady on her feet, "Parker, I'm so sorry." She whispered quiet enough for only him to hear. He squeezed her waist slightly in response.
"It's okay," He whispered back before his gaze became focused upon the exit, and then toward his little brother, "Okay, Eve, I'm taking you home, alright?" He said, trying to catch Jesse's attention by raising his head up a couple times. He turned to Finley and Hazel, "Thank you guys, for being with her. I'll catch you guys at school?" The both of them nodded, letting him go.
He walked toward the exit, holding onto Evelyn who could just about walk along with him.
Jesse eventually looked his way and noticed, immediately dropping his conversation with a friend before walking toward them, "Hey, what's going on?" But when he saw her stumbling, he knew exactly what was going on and immediately came to the other side of her to hold her up without hurting her, "Parker, she's drifting away. You gotta pick her up."
Evelyn was light. Her weight barely even affecting Parker as he took Jesse's advice and picked her up bridal style, filtering through the crowds until he reached the front door. Jesse opened it for him and the both of them found their way outside. Lily greeted them immediately with a smile until she took notice of Evelyn and suddenly her smile had dropped.
Parker watched as she pursed her lips together, as though she had nothing to say, and then she looked back up at him with a soft look, "The key's under the mat as always, Aunt Brooke replaced it with the new one just last week." She muttered as she stepped back, letting Parker and Jesse go past her and lead the way to his car. He thanked her with a nod and smile as he passed her.
Pulling out his keys whilst also trying to keep Evelyn stable in his arms, he gestured for Jesse to take them and open the car. When he did, Jesse also opened up the backseat door. Parker glanced at him wondering why he didn't open the passenger seat door, "I'm coming with you... if you don't mind dropping me off home?"
Placing Evelyn softly into the backseat and putting on her seatbelt for her, he closed the door and turned to Jesse with a nod, "I picked you up, it's my responsibility to take you back. I just thought, if you want to stay, I could come back after taking her home and give you a lift home too, or you could come back to my apartment if it gets too late and mom's asleep or something."
"No, I want to go home. The party's not even all that anyway." Jesse muttered, though Parker could tell he didn't mean it. Parker wasn't sure why he'd been so eager to leave but figured that it was probably for the best anyway. So, he nodded and gestured for him to get into the passenger seat, making his way to the drivers side but before he got in, he passed a wave to Lily.
"See you at school, Little Scott?"
She nodded with a small smile, and waved goodbye at him before watching him get into the car and leave. She didn't mean to overhear, but when she did, she came to the new revelation that Parker had his own apartment, and didn't live with his parents. Which was news to her. It made her wonder if she even heard him right.
It wasn't exactly common knowledge, in fact, Lily had never even considered anyone in their high school living by themselves which begged the question of how long he's been living alone and why. Did Evelyn know? Did Marcus? What happened with his parents? Why couldn't he live with them?
She went back inside, her mind now full of more questions than answers but she didn't voice them out. She figured maybe she'd ask Parker about it when she'd see him next, that is if she could build up the courage to. Regardless if it was any of her business or not, he was still her friend - or more so, like a brother to her. She hoped she could be the friend she's supposed to be, and be there for him like she is for Jamie.
Unbeknownst to Lily, the answers to her questions were hidden in the depths of Parker's past, a journey that would unravel in time, revealing the complexities of his life and the reasons that led him to the solitude of his own apartment. Until then, she remained determined to be the friend he needed, offering support and understanding, just like family should.
