Chapter 6

Simon took Merlin's body, put it in the cart, and left the battle without telling anyone he was going. It took three days to reach the cave where Merlin had told him to place his body. The cave the dragon had lived in until Pam killed it 50 years ago. No trace of the dead dragon remained. People had taken parts of the body away, thinking them magical.

Simon laid Merlin's body with the red super suit still on and covered it with stones. He used the explosive that Merlin had taught him to make and closed the cave entrance with boulders falling in front of it from the explosion. He sat beside the debris covering the entrance, cried, and grieved. Finally, he left, not knowing where he was going. He would later tell people the stories of Merlin's adventures, but not everything about the red suit's powers, only that it was magical.

One thousand four hundred and seventy-seven years later, archeologists discovered the red suit with a few bones still inside it. They immediately recognized the symbol on the red suit's shirt as that of Merlin, the magician. The suit had not deteriorated at all, which was a great mystery. When news of this got to the MIB, they knew the red suit must be of alien construction, and the suit disappeared from the museum archives, becoming an urban legend. It was placed in the MIB archive as an unknown alien artifact.

When Ralph entered the MIB timeline, the box Merlin's red suit was stored in began to rattle on a high shelf in the MIB archive warehouse, but no one heard it. Agents rarely entered the archives, and the suit's power reserves were too low to escape the container. It could sense another suit and a hero but could not send an emergency signal. It would have to continue to wait.
