I: STARS ABOVE.

I hate Halloween, Marco Diaz thought to himself as he stood on his front porch with a bowl full of candy.

Standing in front of him under the golden porch light were a group of kids dressed in all sorts of Halloween costumes. One of them was even dressed up as an alien. Strange choice for a day all about dressing up as characters from horror and supernatural movies but then again, it's Halloween. He's seen even stranger costumes but, once again, it's Halloween.

So suddenly, when it's dark out and school is in the morning, parents are okay with letting their kids go out into the night and beg for candy at random people's homes. I just don't get it. You're basically begging your child to be kidnapped. I bet there's a kidnapper driving around the corner right about now, Marco thought.

"Hey. You gonna give us some candy?" The alien kid asked.

If I wanted to, I could literally kidnap these kids myself and force them to live in my basement. Wait, I don't have a basement. Alright, then I could make them live in my attic. This holiday, or whatever this day is supposed to be, is a criminal's paradise, Marco thought.

"Ahem! Candy!" The alien kid impatiently held his hand out.

Marco narrowed his eyes at the kid. That was when he noticed something peculiar sticking out of the plastic Walmart bag that the kid was using as their candy bucket in the other hand.

"Hey." Marco pointed at the bag. "What's in there?"

"My candy. When are you gonna give me your candy?" The alien kid sneered.

"Is that a Twinkie sticking out of the bag?" Marco asked.

The alien kid nodded. "Yeah. I got it from the house across the street."

Marco noticed a white powdery substance peeping out of the opened Twinkies. Hold on...is that...cocaine!?

"Which house did you get it from again?" Marco asked.

The alien kid sighed in frustration before he turned around and pointed to the house across the street from Marco's house. The person who lived in that house was wearing overalls and his eyes were bloodshot red. White powder decorated his overalls and his hands as he handed his next victims Twinkies filled with cocaine.

Yep. This holiday is definitely a paradise for criminals, Marco thought with a sigh.

"Alright. Hand over your Twinkies," Marco told the kids. He was met with protests.

"What? But it's my candy!"

"You can't do this!"

"This ain't fair!"

"I'm gonna get my mommy! She'll beat your ass!"

"Fuck you!"

Once Marco had collected all of the Twinkies from the kids, he slammed the door in their faces and immediately threw the Twinkies in the trash. "Crisis adverted."

He entered the living room and flopped down on the couch. Then, he unpaused the movie he was watching on the TV, Halloweentown, and pulled out his phone.

On Instagram, he absentmindedly scrolled through the posts and stories of his classmates. The majority of them were at a Halloween party that popular rich girl Brittney Wong was throwing.

"I wanted to go..." he grumbled.

He would do anything, even sell his soul, all for the opportunity to snag an invitation to hang out with the cool kids. Even Jackie Lynn Thomas, his crush since kindergarten, was there. Then again, it wasn't a surprise that Jackie was there. Sure, Brittney Wong was popular and a cool kid, but Jackie was at the top of the ladder. Everything she did was perfection and she didn't have to put in any effort.

"I'm cool!" He said, sitting up. "Yeah! I'm cool! I should be at that party! I can handle it!"

He hunched over and continued to flip through the stories and posts. The more he did, the more stressed out he grew. There was drinking, reckless dares, drugs, and more happening at the party.

Marco quickly realized that he couldn't handle it. "None of these people are safe! Are they trying to kill themselves! No! Don't jump off the roof!"

He jumped when he heard the sound of gunshots ring from outside. "The fuck is going on!?"

Immediately, he got up from his spot on the couch and opened the front door to see what the commotion was about. A few houses down from him was a lady waving a gun in her hands as she stood in the driveway of her house.

"Stay away from my house, ya little fucks! I ain't giving y'all shit!" The lady yelled as kids squealed as they ran away from her house.

Marco squinted his eyes. No, but for real, though. What's wrong with the people in this neighborhood?

He was about to go back inside when suddenly, shooting stars decorated the nighttime sky. The kids and the few parents that were scatted outside looked up in awe and some even took videos.

Was there supposed to be a meteor shower tonight? Marco wondered as he closed the door behind him, returning to the comfort of his house.

If he had super vision, he would've seen that the stars that were falling were not actually meteorites. And if he were more aware about the way the universe truly worked, he would've known that whatever was falling into his world should not be here.

In a whole other dimension, before the "meteor shower" that decorated the skies of Earth...

Heavy, booming footsteps were growing closer towards the tiny cage hanging from the ceiling of a large cave. Inside the cage laid a delicate-looking girl with sunny blonde hair and sky blue eyes. She was a beauty, the type that handsome princes on horses of white would risk their lives for in order to save.

"You were lucky the other two times to venture into my lair. But this time, I've caught you," a raspy voice spoke.

The girl was sitting complacently in the cage as the footsteps and voice drew closer. "Would you believe me if I told you I allowed you to catch me?"

The footsteps finally stopped in front of the cage. "Don't lie. I know your pride has been hurt so you're saying things to nurse it, Star the Destroyer."

The girl had her back to the voice's owner. Slowly, she turned around to face the owner who was revealed to be a red and orange dragon. "Let me correct you. It's Princess Star Butterfly of the Mewni Dimension."

"You sure don't act like a princess, leading trails of chaos and destruction in your wake," the dragon said.

"True, but don't worry. You and the rest of the universe will be free from me in a little bit," Star said as she stood up.

"Yeah, because I will burn you alive until you're perfectly roasted and eat you whole!" The dragon said proudly.

"Nope! Actually, it's because my Wand Receiving Ceremony is today!" She place her hands behind her back. "It's a whole process but basically, I get Mewni's Dimensional Treasure, the Wand of Mewni. Then, I'll get sent to this place called the Dominus Cloister for a good 12 years, isolated from the whole world as I apparently 'discover the secrets of the want.' After, I'll come out and become queen!"

The dragon scoffed. "You? Queen? Unbelievable."

Star shrugged. "I know, right? But the thing that's getting me is the fact that I'll be in isolation for 12 years. What do they even expect me to do? Like, no one will be there with me. I can't leave the place either. I even heard that there are no lights in that place!"

"Tragic," the dragon remarked.

"Yep. But I really want that wand so I need to make it back on time. In fact, I need to go now," she said.

The dragon laughed. "What part of 'you're captured' do you not understand!? You can't just leave! You're my prisoner and my food! Revenge for all of the times you've come in here and stolen my gold pieces!"

"Did I tell you that I allowed myself to get captured because I wanted one last adventure before isolation?" Star held out a hand and a sword with golden zodiac constellations decorating the blade materialized in her hands. With a single swoop, the bars of the cage were sliced opened, freeing her.

The dragon took a few steps back, eyes bulging out. "H-How did you break out of my cage!? Not even my fire can melt the bars!"

Star glanced down at her sword. "The blade was made from real stardust, the most indestructible thing in the whole universe. It took me an arm and a leg to get this sword but what matters now is that I got it." She looked up at the dragon. "I call it the Skyblade. Cute, right?"

"I'll still kill you!" The dragon blew out fire, prompting Star to raise her blade in order to shield herself from the flames. Then, she charged towards the dragon.

"Sorry! I have to make this quick! I'm extremely late!" She jumped up and sliced the dragon's head off with one simple slash. Then, landing on her feet, she materialized a pair of scissors in her other hand.

She stared at the dragon head. "I mean...I really want to add it to my collection...but I'm really late...fuck! I'll come back for it!"

She made a cut in the air and as she did, a rip in mid-air formed. Once she made a rip about the same size as her, she jumped in. Through the rip, she crossed over to a whole other dimension. In that new dimension, she ended up falling into a grand courtyard that was decorated with pillars, sculptures, and a beautiful garden. However, the place would've looked even more prettier if it weren't for the fighting that occurred.

Star landed in the middle of the courtyard and immediately stood up. Around her, other Mewmans were battling swamp-like monsters.

"Oh shit! What happened while I was gone!?" She asked, raising her sword to defend herself from a monster that noticed her.

"My shining star! Is that you!?" She heard her father asked.

She turned around and saw her father, King River Johansen-Butterfly, effortlessly wiping out a large group of monsters that had charged at him. He was a member of the Johansen Clan, a clan of warriors. A group of monsters was nothing to him.

Nearby, a woman stomped on the ground bellow her. The force of the stomp released a purple force that blew a bunch of monsters away. Mewmans who were dealing with their monsters quickly gave the woman their thanks but the woman was focused on Star. "Where were you, you devilish child!?"

Star sighed. "Nice to see you too, mom."

"You're two months late for your own ceremony! Can you imagine!?" Her mother, Queen Moon Butterfly of Mewni, yelled as she summoned a whip.

"...forgot time works differently in some other dimension...Was I really gone for two months!? My bad!" Star cried as she dealt with a new batch of monsters.

"When did you sneak out anyway!? How did you sneak out!? I took away all of your dimensional scissors!" Moon yelled as she whipped away a monster that charged at her.

"Don't worry about it! Be happy that I'm here!" Star ran her sword through the chest of a monster and drew it out. "What happened her anyway?"

"Ludo happened!" Her mother answered, dodging a high kick from a monster.

Ludo is the name of a monster who has been causing lots of trouble in recent years. He and his army of monsters declared "war" against the Mewmans and announced that they refuse to back down until the royal family hands them the Wand of Mewni. So once Star heard Ludo's name, she quickly figured out what was going on. Since she was supposed to receive her wand today, of course Ludo showed up.

That was when Star noticed her mother wasn't using the wand. "Where's the wand!?"

"It's still in its case, waiting for its new owner!" Moon cried before casting another spell to deal with the monsters she was dealing with.

Star immediately started running through the crowds of beings battling it out. She cut down any monster that got in her way as she sprinted down to the grand hall. The wand is definitely there! I just need to get it before Ludo realizes that mom doesn't have it on her!

To her relief, the grand hall was empty. She materialized her sword away and walked towards the wand. It was floating on a podium and multiple symbols that she did not recognize floated around it. She didn't know what they meant or what they were for but she knew that it was protecting the wand.

"Well, the wand was going to become mine today anyway. I can just swoop in and take what's mine without a whole ceremony," she told herself as she slowly reached for the wand.

The second her finger tips touched the barrier that was formed by the symbols, an electric current ran through her body and she was pushed back by an invisible force.

"Ah. So that's why we have to do a whole ritual and ceremony for that thing..." she grumbled as she picked herself up.

With determination flaring in her eyes, Star returned to the podium and forced her hand through the barrier. She ignored the tingling and burning sensation in her hands and arms as she tried to grab the wand. She wanted to scream out in pain but she held herself back. Screaming wouldn't change the fact that it hurts.

Eventually, she endured as much as she could. She allowed the force to blow her back. "Fuck!" She cursed.

"Ah, so you can't free the wand...looks like Moon must be the one to break the seals," a voice spoke from the shadows.

She scanned the room. "Ludo! Show yourself and fight me! Coward!"

"So Plan D. Put you in a near death situation and bargain with Moon into freeing the wand," Ludo decided with a dark chuckle as he stepped out of the shadows, revealing himself to be at the other side of the hall. A black aura surrounded him.

Star wasn't shaken. In fact, she wanted to laugh at how Ludo was trying to intimidate her. She stood up and summoned the Skyblade. "I don't know why my mom didn't use the wand to deal with you all this time but it doesn't matter! That wand is mine now and I can do whatever I want with it!"

She turned around and ran towards the podium. Then, she raised the sword up as she approached. This blade can break through anything! So it should be able to break the seal! As she predicted, the sword smoothly broke through the seal. However, she wasn't expecting the very tip of the blade to slice through the crystal on the wand.

Oops.

"My wand!" Ludo screamed.

Rays of light shone out from the cracks that were forming in the crystal before the crystal shattered into thousands of pieces. Star shielded her eyes from the blinding light and suddenly, she was teleported away by an unknown force.

Ludo was left behind, wonder what the fuck had just happened.

She was flying.

Or was she falling?

She passed through purple clouds of stardust as her limbs flared around, desperately looking for the ground or at least some wall to hold onto. The wind was biting her skin harshly and it was blocking her from properly taking a breath. Her heart was hammering in her chest. Yes, she loves the unknown, but this was the first time she actually feared it. Millions of concerns and questions ran through her mind as she fell/flew, doing involuntary flips as she did.

She was quickly approaching what looked like small, glowing white lines or sticks bunched together like a barrier. It took a lot of effort but she placed her arms over her head for protection. Then, she past threw the barrier, scattering the white lines/sticks.

Immediately, she dropped her arms and threw her head back once she passed. She was now sure that she was falling. Bellow her were dots of golden lights and she shot across a midnight blue sky. Around her were thousands of shooting stars that disappeared as they grew closer to the golden lights. As she herself grew closer to the lights, she saw that the lights were actually the lights coming from buildings that shot to the sky.

That was when she realized that she was in a whole new dimension, a dimension that she's never been in or even heard of before.

She reached up to the pearl white full moon and consciousness slipped out of her.

Random Fact: When I went trick or treating with my friends and my younger siblings (I was in 8th grade at the time), a guy literally gave us Twinkies filled with cocaine. Then, at the next house, some lady almost shot us. It sounds like I'm lying but trust me, I'm telling the truth

Wassup!? it's ya gurl sugarsugarrush!

This story was actually released on March 10, 2018 but sometime in 2021 I discontinued it and deleted it in 2022. Now, it's back and it's different. Very different. I hope different in a good way. I actually really liked the original version but I discontinued it because of personal reasons. Since then, it's been on my mind but every time I tried to write, nothing would come out. Same with all of my other stories (if you look at my profile, you'll see that I have more unfinished stories than finished ones). So, about 4 hours ago, I was watching a couple of music videos that coincidentally had mythological concepts and I randomly thought about this story. I decided to bring it back, but change some things. The biggest change is the gender. (Marco was a girl named Macaria while Star was a boy named Starious with the nickname Star).

I really hope y'all like this! Please leave me some reviews and PM me!
