Unkilling

Disclaimer: I do not own anything related to or of Shadowverse.

Pairing: One-sided Subaru x Light.

Summary:

Makabe Subaru's good morning wake-up calls can "unkill" the walking dead.

When did Light get up of his own power? It seemed he couldn't remember. A memory that wasn't installed in him anymore. Stored elsewhere, like Dragnir's memory data.

Nobody wishes to be woken up by an alarm clock. If it were anyone but Light, you would be at your wit's end locating anyone who'd look forward to a wake-up call from a family member either.

Light was definitely an exception with respect to the latter thought experiment. But that was due to he, his mother, father, and younger sister being a close-knit family.

"You'll be late for school!"

Is there a sentence of comparable repulsiveness to the human ear?

Living away from his relatives in the Shadowverse Battle College dorm, Light had Subaru to observe the established practice in his household.

His alarm clock was as reliable as a broken doorbell (in that Light would get dressed in a daze and immediately hit the mattress upon waking up halfway).

Dragnir's efforts to improve Light's sleep schedule resulted in no net gains.

Therefore, it was vitally important Subaru ring Light up bright and early and offer him a good morning pep talk to be certain Light didn't fall asleep and necessitate a third shove out of bed.

To date, cause for a third hadn't arisen. Light would legitimately be late if Subaru neglected his duty.

Were Light the grouchy "five more minutes" kind of person, he might take advantage of their setup and feign deep sleep to exploit unlimited callbacks from Subaru.

Alas, Light lacked the intelligence and mendacity to deceive Subaru on purpose. He was fundamentally a heavy sleeper, and prone to carelessly lose sleep reconstructing his deck.

The grave soil required disturbing.

The dead required turning over from their eternal rest.

Subaru's summons could raise the dead, and his wake-up calls could unkill them.

Subaru would like it if Light were able to appreciate his service beyond the surface benefit of evading detention from And-chan.

Alas, like your average zombie, Light was brainless.

The lovable bonehead.
