"A wish?" Saitama parroted.
"Yeah, a wish. It's just a question I'd ask for fun. Say you were given one wish, and only one wish. What would it be?" A casually dressed man asked.
"Well... I'd probably ask for my hair back." Saitama said.
"That's it? Nothing else? You have the ability to wish for anything and everything, and all you want is your hair back?"
"Yeah, that's it. It's not like I have that much desire anyway-"
"You could wish for an infinite source of money, an endless lifespan, knowledge of the future, maybe a superpower of some kind, and you're saying with all that choice in your hands, you'd rather get hair back?" The man asked.
"...Well, maybe I didn't think it through all that much."
"Yeah. So, say you were given one wish, what would it be?"
"Hmm... while I really want my hair back..."
"I guess world peace is a thing I'd like."
"World peace? That's a pretty noble wish. You wouldn't want something selfish?"
"Well, money can't really buy peace, and there's no point living for so long if there's still so many problems out in the world that I can't solve. World peace would solve a lot of those issues, I'd say."
"Alright then. But say you wished for world peace, there'd still be poverty, sickness, and other problems that world peace can't solve."
"Well, I only get one wish."
"Why not wish for the ability to get what you want?"
"Come again?"
"Why not wish for the power to have what you want, at any time? That way, if you want world peace, you'd have the power to make it happen. If you want to get rid of world hunger, you could have the power to get rid of it."
"...Seems a bit overpowered."
"But that's the point. If you had the ability to have any wish, any wish at all, why wouldn't you ask for something more permanent, and more overarching?"
"...It'd be a pretty boring life after that."
"Boring, huh? Could you explain?"
"Well, if I could just have anything I'd want at any time, things would get pretty boring pretty fast. After all, the effort you put in to get what you want is what makes achieving it so great to begin with. If say, I wanted money, and money appeared in front of me whenever I wanted, pretty soon, I'd run out of things I'd want to have. And if I had the power to just get anything I'd want, then there'd be nothing I'd want anymore, because I'd already have everything I want."
"That makes sense. Well, we got off-topic a little. Getting back to the main question- if you had one wish, one wish for anything in the world, what would it be?"
"...Teleportation, maybe. After all, as a professional hero, I'd be out of a job if I wished for world peace. I'd say I'm a selfless guy, but I'm not that selfless. But if I can teleport, I'll never be late to a situation ever again. And even in the event of world peace, the power of teleportation would still be pretty useful. I'd never miss another sale ever again."
"That's fair. Well, teleportation it is, then." The man snapped his fingers.
"What does that mean?" Saitama asked.
"Imagine teleporting a meter behind you."
"Why, is this some sort of scam where you try to introduce me to some cult? I'm not interested, bud."
"No, no, just humor me for a bit. Imagine teleporting. But instead of just teleporting wherever you want right now, try imagining teleporting somewhere nearby, like teleporting a meter behind you."
"Well, okay then." Saitama humored the weird man. But as he suddenly appeared further back than his original position-
"Eh? Wha-"
"Well, enjoy your new powers." The man said as Saitama looked around, confirming that he did indeed, teleport.
As Saitama looked back up, the man was gone.
"Wait! I want to change my wish! I want to have that wish where I can have anything I want! I want to change my wish!"
...As the silence grew louder, Saitama realized that the man wasn't coming back.
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!"
