Courting the lady

Larousse High, Hoenn. 12th May 2020, 3:15pm.

The crowd cheered as a green-haired boy made a basket for his team a couple seconds before the timer rang. He grinned as his team lifted him upon their shoulders. They had won.

The teams shook hand as a sign of good sportsmanship and separated to go to their dressing rooms.

"Oh my gosh, Drew! The way you made that basket was so hot!"

"Drew, baby! Will you go out with me?"

"Oh, Drew! You're so sexy!"

Compliments rang through the air, all addressed to the green-haired boy, who seemed almost uncomfortable due to all the attention, as he tried getting into the change rooms.

Once inside, he slid down the door miserably, putting his head in nis hands, while groaning tiredly. He was never a fan of attention, and his fangirls weren't helping much either. He stood up to go into the shower.

Ten minutes later, he entered through the door, and 'man hugged' as they called it, each one of his friends: Gary, Ash, and lastly Paul.

Misty and Leaf went up to Gary and Ash, peppering them with kisses and telling them how great they did, while both Gary and Ash were acting like living, breathing, heart eyed emojis. Paul and Drew rolled their eyes. Clearly, Gary and Leaf and Ash and Misty were head over heels for each other.

They walked to the exit of the gym, leaving they're friends and their girlfriends behind, when they stopped walking all of a sudden, as they heard commotion behind the door.

Barely able to hear, the two put they're ears at the door to listen to the bickering on the other side.

"But May~" A high-pitched voice whined. Another voice who they didn't recognize huffed. " . Am. I. Going. Inside." the second voice, who they assumed was May, growled.

"But-" the first voice tried to protest, but was cut of by the second voice.

"Nuh-uh. I don't care how hot you think that grasshead is, but you are not dragging me in there to see him." May told the first voice firmly.

Paul and Drew looked at each other and rolled their eyes. A fangirl. Though, the May girl did catch Drew's attention, seeing as she did not want to go to see him. 'Must be one of the shy ones,' he thought rolling his eyes, as he turned back to listen to the conversation.

The first voice huffed. "I don't think he's hot," she denied, surprising both, Drew and Paul. "I mean, sure I guess he's attractive, but I honestly think his purple haired friend, Paul is so much hotter, and cuter." they heard the first voice sigh dreamily.

Drew snickered at Paul, as his friend's face turned red. Never in his life had Paul been called hot, or cute. He'd always been known as the 'Stay away or you'll get hurt' type. No one approached him. They all thought he was scary.

"So, Dawn. Let me get this straight." May summarized. "You want to go inside, not to see Drew, but his friend Paul, who everyone thinks is scary."

"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Dawn said after a moment's pause. Paul was blushing quite heavily by now.

"THEN WHY DRAG ME INTO IT! YOU CAN TALK TO HI YOURSELF!" they heard ay scream

"Why don't you want to go anyway?!" Dawn retorted.

They heard May huff again. "That grass-headed idiot is so flipping full of himself! I mean, so what if he makes the shot? I mean, anyone could have made that shot. He just happened to make it!" she took a breath."I mean honestly, I don't see what's so good about him!" she exclaimed. "All he does is flick his hair and play basketball! Why does it make him better than anybody else?" she finished.

Paul looked at Drew in amusement to see his face red with anger. The Drew Hayden will not be insulted. He took a deep breath. Though, he did like the fact that this girl, May, treated him like a normal person.

"Because he is good looking?" Dawn suggested, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Although, I still think Paul has better looks." she added.

"Whatever." her friend said, as they heard her heel turn, probably in the oppisite direction. "I'm outta here. Just ask for his number some other time Dawn." she told her, as they heard footsteps going down the hall, rather impatiently.

Dawn growled and muttered a curse under her breath as she turned to face the side where her brunette friend had gone, and was about to sprint after her, before she heard the gym door open.

She looked back to see Drew and Paul talking. Taking notice of the bluenette, Drew nodded to Paul, as he nodded back, the green haired teen started making his way to where May had disappeared off to.

Dawn faced Paul. He was looming over her, though Dawn barely seemed affected by his presence. She stuck out her hand as she smiled at him.

"Hi there! I'm Dawn!" the bubbly bluenette greeted.

The purple headed man recoiled in shock, taking in the sight before his eyes.

This was the girl who had taken interest in him? She just seemed so… upbeat. And her skirt was super short, though by the way she was grinning, he could tell that she wasn't trying in the least to seduce him.

"Hey." he shook her hand, making Dawn's grin, if it were possible, even wider. "Oh. Uh, I'm Paul." he said awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck, making Dawn giggle at his cuteness.

"I know." she smiled shyly.

Paul cleared his throat.

"So, did you watch the game?" he asked her, trying to make small talk. She nodded excitedly. "Yeah! I did! That dunk you made was amazing! How'd you even jump that high?" Realizing she was rambling, an embarrassed blush came over her face as she put both of her hands behind her back and looked away.

Right there, Paul realized she was the cutest and most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her blush seemed to make her face glow, and her eyes showed a sign of pure innocence he'd never seen before. His face grew hot.

"Sorry. I ramble when I'm nervous." she muttered. Paul saddened a little. He'd thought this would be the first girl that had ever thought he wasn't scary. He sighed as it was his turn to look away from her."Oh." he muttered, running a hand through his hair.

Dawn's eyes widened as she realized what he might've thought of the statement.

"Wait, I didn't mean that I find you scary!" she laughed a little, her eyes squinting. She looked back at him with big blue eyes, and he gulped under her stare. She took a deep breath. "It was just that I find you really attractive, so I felt super nervous around you! I'm sorry, you probably feel super awkward around me now, so I'll just shu-"

She was cut off by a pair of lips on hers. While she had been rambling, Paul had gathered up the courage to kiss her.

She soon closed her eyes, as she relaxed into the kiss, massaging his lips back. Both had never kissed before, never really taking interest in anyone. They both pulled back after a moment, breathless. Paul stared at her for a moment, before letting her go, with a blush on his face.

"I'll pick you up at the bus stop, at seven." he said before turning around and heading down the hallway to the right, leaning against the wall to collect himself.

Behind him, he heard her call an 'I'll be there!' before squealing and running down the hallway, probably to find her friend to tell her about her date.

He smiled a small smile. His first date. That too with a girl who seemed to be completely opposite to him. He chuckled slightly at the thought. Reggie would be over the moon with excitement. He and Maylene -his wife- had been waiting for this day to come. He shook his head free of thoughts as he walked to the front of the school to his car.

Larousse High Parking Lot, Hoenn. 12th May 2020, 3:29pm.

May stomped down to her car in irritation. What was so special about that grass head anyways? She'd run into him while walking down the halls, once. He'd been so arrogant, it'd made her want to scream. And she did. But sadly, that'd only earned her a detention.

She grimaced at the memory. It was all that stupid grasshead's fault. If he hadn't annoyed her, she wouldn't have screamed after he left, or gotten a detention. She closed her eyes. She shouldn't be wasting her time thinking about him anyway.

'Ugh. That stupid, narcissistic, annoying, arrogant, egotistic, handsome, cute, my dream guy, -wait what?!' May shook her head. No. She did not like that idiotic grasshead. She just…ran out of words to describe him, that's all. Yeah, that's it. She nodded to herself.

"Hi there," she looked up, expecting to see Dawn, only to find herself in front a charming green haired teen. He smiled at her. May stared a little. 'That smile looks great on him. He should smile more instead of smirk.' she thought. Then she frowned at her thoughts. 'No, May. He's just an annoying grasshead.' she told herself.

Drew's heart sank a little as he saw the beautiful brunette frown. He didn't know why, though. Could he have fallen in love at first sight?

"Um. Is there something wrong?" he asked her. She snapped out of her daze. "Uh. Yeah. Just fine." she mumbled, turning away from him.

He smiled at her again. He couldn't help it, she was just so cute! "I'm Drew." He said, flipping his bangs out of his eyes to get a full view of the brunette.

She turned to him. The first thing he noticed, was her enticing blue eyes. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Her eyes were an amazing shade of blue that reminded him of "Sapphires." he whispered.

May glanced at him confusedly. "What?"

Drew turned beet red."I said that out loud?" he asked her, astonished.

She nodded slowly, giggling at his horrified expression afterwards. She looked back at him curiously. "What about sapphires?"

He blushed heavily as he turned away from her before answering. "Your eyes." he mumbled shyly.

She stared at him, dumbfounded. Then she let out a small laugh. She gave him a smile as she held out her hand. "May Maple." she introduced herself.

He took her in. Straight, shiny, and luscious brown hair, gorgeous sapphire blue eyes, that were the colour of the sky on a clear summer's day, along with parts of red, white, yellow, and navy blue fabrics scattered across her clothes.

He smiled back at her as he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you,"

May took her hand back, as she stared at him with an expressionless face.

After a few minutes of silence, her demeanour broke, as she broke out into the most beautiful smile he'd ever seen. His heart started beating faster, and hands got sweaty. He blushed a bright shade of red as he stared at her in awe.

She giggled. "I guess you're not so bad, grasshead."

Drew's heart leaped. The star basketball player needed to court this girl. She was too beautiful to not do so. Though, he had a feeling that he'd be stuck with this girl for more than a couple of dates.

He breathed in sharply.

"Will you go out on a date with me?" he bowed to her, holding a red rose in her face.

He looked up slightly.

She seemed genuinely surprised. That was quite out of the blue. she thought, before turning to him with a stern expression that made him straighten up in attention.

"If we're going on a date, you need to listen to my terms." she ordered. Drew nodded quickly. He wasn't going to pass up a chance of going out with this brunette for his life!

May took a deep breath."First; Tell me after the date how you felt about it honestly." she told him, as he nodded. "Number two, tell me right now, am I just a fling? Or a rebound?" she questioned him. Drew swallowed. "No. You're definitely not a fling, or a rebound." he told her honestly.

May searched for any signs of insincerity in the boy's eyes. When she found none, she sighed and moved on to the next rule. "We will just go on a date. Nothing more, nothing less." she told him firmly. He nodded. He wasn't the type of guy to do that anyway. He had never even gotten in bed with anyone before.

"Number four," she continued. "The entire night, I expect you to not flirt with anyone." But me. she added in her head. "I absolutely hate guys who do that." she told him.

"And lastly-" she was cut off by an excessively loud squeal whom she could only guess was from Dawn. As she saw the blue haired girl approach, she grabbed Drew's collar, and yanked him towards her, as she placed her glossy lips near his ear, making him red. "Pick me up at seven at this address." she whispered as she handed him a piece of paper. Then, pulled back and winked at him, making him blush a deeper shade of scarlet. "See you." she told him, as she skipped into the driver's seat as her friend sat in the shot gun, squealing excitedly.

He stood there, for a second, frozen.

Then he broke into a giddy smile as he walked back to his car, thinking about the brunette that had courted Drew Hayden.
