Chapter 7

At night Kai and Pastor reached a small location with several small cottages and a large sign saying Motel. Under the sign were two receptions open for clients to log in to the place.

"Good, I hope this hotel has free spots," Commented Pastor making Kai nod and follow the Spaniard to the reception to order a room. Kai moved to the second counter, while Pastor stayed at the first one.

"Good evening. I'd like to rent a room for one night," Asked Kai making the receptionist nod and take out a wooden card from the drawer beneath the desk.

"Cube 24, is that okay?" Asked the vendor making Kai nod. "That will be 5 Thaler," Said the man watching Kai give the man five coins and accept the card from the man.

"Thank you," Kai responded walking past Pastor, then waited to see the Spaniard receive his card as well and reveal the number 29. "We might be in the same place? What do you think?" Questioned Kai walking towards the few cottages and spotting various signs with the cottage's letters on them and what numbers were located in the present buildings. "There the shield says we belong to house B," Pointed the artist out, then headed toward the second cottage and entered into the place to see a corridor with small, square-formed entrances. Kai glimpsed into one to see it contained a bed and a candlelight, then looked at the free ones, that had a curtain beside it and Kai closed one to check it out.

"24 is here," Mentioned Pastor earning Kai's attention and pointing at a small number under the room's entrance. Kai walked to the reserved room to look into it and nodded. Pastor moved further to look for his room, then looked that he needed to crawl into the place. Pastor got down on his knees, then looked at Kai, which tried to climb into his place. Pastor furrowed his eyebrows confused, then watched Kai fall down on his back hitting his feet through the curtain under the room underneath his place, hitting on something.

"Oh oh…" Mumbled Kai taking his feet away from the curtains, which got pulled aside revealing a brunette, young woman who gazed out bothered by the accident. "Hehe, I'm sorry," Apologized Kai, then Pastor whistled calling the attention of the raven-haired boy.

"Hey we can switch, if you want," Offered Pastor getting the attention of Kai and the woman. Kai walked to Pastor, which went to Kai's place spotting the brunette adjusting her pillow and glimpse up at the Spaniard. "Sorry, my friend isn't quite tall," Stated Pastor leaning his shoulder against the wall.

"Alright, I was sleeping, when he had hit me," Commented the woman making him grin, then watched Kai enter into his place, then look out at the surrounding watching Pastor stay on the outside.

"If you are okay, I'm going to sleep. I need to rest for tomorrow," Commented Kai lying his head down on the thin mattress and shoving his hands under them. "Nighty night," Wished Kai pulling the curtain aside to block the view to the outside, then Pastor got up into his space and looked down at the woman, which lied back on her spot, then glimpsed at the Spaniard.

"Are you two related? You don't look alike?" Questioned the woman watching Pastor shake his head.

"His sister and my friend somehow got in a different flight as us and…...they got lost," Responded Pastor watching the brunette look at him confused. "It's strange, I know," Commented Pastor making the brunette nod.

"Kind of," Admitted the girl. "What's your name?"

"I'm Pastor and you?"

"I'm Marina," Introduced the woman herself to the man, which reached his hand out for the woman to shake it. "Happy to meet you,"

In the night, Gerda and Rollan were following the railway from the side together analyzing their surroundings and seeking for a space that they could take to rest overnight. Luta this time lied over the shoulders of Rollan napping as he kept walking.

"You're not cold?" Questioned Rollan looking at Gerda, which had her arms crossed together.

"I'm fine," Commented Gerda. "It's not so bad,"

"If you want I could borrow you one of my pullovers. It might just not be fitting to what you wear," The Spaniard mentioned moving along with the woman. Further on the ground, they had spotted a road passing through the railway, then Gerda noticed it and nudged the Spaniard on the shoulder.

"Hey look, we could follow the road and see, where it goes," Suggested Gerda making the raven-haired man nod.

As both got closer to the zone, they looked at the two different ways, seeing where it would lead. Both had slightly farther from the rail an alley filled with trees on both sides, then looked at each other again.

"Which way should we go? I'm sure in one direction we should find a barn or something similar to spend the night," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod.

"There is a signpost by the entrance. Maybe it leads us to what we are looking for," Commented Rollan pointing at a guidepost. "It looks like one from here,"

"Yes, let's take a look at it," Suggested Gerda and walked along with the man along the path to approach the wood's entrance.

Rollan yawned making Gerda chuckle, then she placed her hand behind his back to caress him.

"You really need a big nap," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod, half distracted.

"I'm a long sleeper. When I can I sleep longer," Commented the raven-haired man making Gerda smile.

"I do have to admit, that being able to sleep longer something is quite amusing," The blonde confessed making Rollan nod, then they were reaching the entrance to the forest and were able to read the signs. "Ah look, this way leads to a barn, the other one to a village. I think we could go this way and see, if we can nap anywhere,"

"Si. Maybe we will be lucky and can get into a place to overnight. I'm not sure what the barn looks like. We would have to check it out," Commented Rollan making Gerda nod.

Later the trio reached a field planted with corn, sunflowers and wheat. On top, there was a large barn and a cottage beside it which was a resident local. The friends walked through a small path between the planted goods, admiring the growth of them. Rollan licked his lips by looking at the available corn, then gazed at Gerda.

"Technically we could borrow two or three pieces for our trip," Suggested Rollan watching Gerda shrug her shoulders.

"You sure? I don't want to get in trouble," Commented Gerda making Rollan chuckle.

"Okay, maybe before we leave we can leave 10 Thaler for a few corncobs," Suggested Rollan making Gerda smile.

"That makes me feel more relieved," Stated Gerda making Rollan chuckle.

"I never paid the random farms I would come along. Mostly I would take only one or two things for myself. No one would notice it anyway," Stated Rollan making Gerda nod reaching the barn together and looked at the door, which had a simple board locking the two doors together. "Muy bien," Rollan said rubbing his hands together, then grabbed the block to open the door, then pulled it back to see the stall was empty, but most of the farm animals were standing inside their boxes sleeping. Gerda looked around the place, then pointed at the side of the place, where a large pile of hay lied on the ground beside a few hay bales spread on the ground.

"It's not a bed or a couch, but it's sure not so bad to sleep on," Suggested Gerda, then walked towards the hay pile and Rollan looked around to find a candlelight by the end of the corridor and made his way to obtain it. Gerda got down on the hay, then tried to make it herself comfortable and felt like it wasn't that good. Afterward, she shove a part of the hay towards the hay ball and began to scavenge the hay from there to form a smoother bed. Gerda took a look into her bag and removed a long-sleeved shirt to put under her head to have her head supported by something.

Rollan came back with the light and placed it in front of them far away enough to prevent them from accidentally dropping it over the hay. Rollan got down on the hay as well and tried to get the hay formed similarly to Gerda. The blonde watched Rollan dig and construct a base for himself and took out from his bag his pullover and placed it on the hay. Luta he tried to put down from his shoulder whom Gerda had helped out and Rollan lied his head down facing Gerda, which held the weasel over her body.

"Not that bad," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod. "Thing is we would need as cover when it's getting colder,"

"I just have my few winter clothing and basically that's all I got," Commented Rollan making Gerda nod.

"Me too and a few simple things," Answered Gerda making Rollan nod, which scratched his chin.

"This should do for now. Otherwise, we can check out the village down there and maybe buy a coat, if possible," Suggested Rollan making Gerda nod, then watch Rollan yawn again.

"We better close our eyes and get a bit sleep," Stated Gerda making Rollan nod and face the girl.

"Si…..buenas noches," Said Rollan. "Good night,"

Gerda smiled at the man's wish and responded back to him.

"Buenas noches, Rollan"

Rollan mirrored Gerda's smile back, then closed his eyes leaving the blonde awake which sighed enamored as she watched the raven-haired man with his eyes closed trying to fall asleep.
