It's a cruel world. Ever since I was a kid, i knew the truth: this world didn't welcomed me.

Don't get me wrong, I was lucky enough to be born. And I still believe there will be a moment I can help someone.

Someone once told me, Those who are in trouble, must be treated with kindness. That meant everyone. Even our enemies.

And sometimes that requires great courage on our part.

Location: Gravesfield, California

It was the beginning of the snow season, and the school had just let out the kids for recess. Most kids that age would be playing games or talking to their friends, having snowball fights or building snowmen or forts. But one cild sat alone on a bench far from the others, reading a book. He was a seven-year-old Caucasian boy with shaggy bright red hair, almost blood red, with green eyes and a good complexion. He was an adorable boy, small but rahter dependable if possible, wearing a red winter jacket, yellow scarf, black snow pants and red snow boots. He was currently reading a book about Science and Math, while on the side was a book that read Adventures of Azure and Eldric.

Though far from him, another kid was playing by themselves. She was a Dominic/Latin girl his age with olive tan skin, yellowish brown eyes, brown hair that went down to her back with blue snaps decorating it, and a pleasant smile on her face. She was wearing white, black adn blue striped socks, blue baggy jeans and pink snow boots, while wearing a hefty blue jacket with blue mittens. Like the boy, she didn't have any friends, and she wasn't invited to join in any games. Alone in one area of the field, she played with her figures of a female witch wearing a white and blue outfit, while also a male wizard wearing red and black, named Azure and Eldric.

"Once again, the day is saved, thanks to the Good Witch Azure and the Red Mage Eldric!" she exclaimed, raising her Azure doll in the end. But then she was pelted in the face and knocked to the ground with a snowball. "OW! Hey!"

She wiped the snow off her face as two boys and a girl walked over to her. These three were notorious for being major bullies to both boys and girls at the school. Beating up kids and taking their things. Getting away with whatever they did because the school allows them to.

And their favorite target to torment was none other than her.

"Well, well. Look who we have here," said the ringleader, who was an auburn-haired girl. "Luce Nobody."

The girl started to get up with a nervous expression. "Hey, guys. And it's Luzura Nozella."

"It's Nobody when we're around. So whatcah got there?" The ringleader snatched her Azure figure. "Are you actually playing with dolls?"

"Hey, give that back!" Luzura said, but was shoved to the ground.

"Aw, does the little baby want her toy back," a chubby boy, the tough one, taunted her.

"Stop it! Stop it," Luce tried to get up, but was kicked in the chest hard. Making her cry in pain, dropping her Eldric doll in the process. The ringleader then smirked and grabbed Azura's head.

"Oops!" She pulled her head off. "Looks like it's pretty defective if the head came off that easily."

"NOO," Luce screamed, bursting into tears at the sight of her favorite toy in the world getting broke. The girl then tossed the body to the ground, and walked away. Laughing while still holding Azure's head.

Luce held her toys in her arms as she cried. No one ever came to help her. No one would come to comfort the girl kneeling on the ground. She was crying alone because no one ever understood her, and she believed that she would never have real friends.

And then he came into her life.

"Hey! Give back that doll's head, Maggie Eden," the redheaded boy called out, standing between them and Luce. He had seen what was going on, and also saw nobody else had done anything. And something in him just sparked from that.

Luce sniffled and and saw the boy stand up for her, as Maggie smirked, "Well, well. If it isn't Eli McFreaky."

"McKnight," Eli grumbled, correcting her, though seemingly a bit intimidated as he mumbled. "It's Eli McKnight."

"You correcting me, McFreaky," Maggie shot out, as the two boys walked over to surround him.

Eli was frozen a bit in fear, as they circled him, while Luce could tell that this boy, Eli, was freaking out, as he was shaking in his boots, even with the two boys surrounding him. But then suddenly, Eli shouted in a weak battlecry, and charged right at Maggie. He suddenly grabbed her behind the waist, trying to pin or knock her down, but struggled to do so, as she tried to pry him off of her.

"Hey, get off me! Freak," she shot out, as she pulled his hat off, and the two boys pulled him back. "Show him his place again, guys!"

The two suddenly began to punch and kick him for what felt like minutes to come. Luce, who had watched this, was all teary eyed at someone standing up for her. And in the process, was getting beat up as a result. She ran over as she tried to push them off, as she cried, "Stop it! STOP IT! You're hurting him!"

Maggie whistled for them to stop, as the two backed off, leaving a bruised up Eli on the ground curled up to ease the pain, as Luce knelt down to him. But Maggie huffed, "Whatever. He's a redheaded loner freak, and you're just a magic-loving freako. And none of you will have any friends whatsoever. Hehehehe!"

And the trio of bullies walked off leaving the two alone.

Luce stared at Eli, as he sat up, ignoring the pain he went through moments ago. Trying to breathe normally, as he had been kicked hard in the stomach and possibly almost breaking ribs, tears streamed down his bruised cheeks. He quickly rubbed his eyes to wipe them away. With eyes slightly red, he turned to Luz and held out his hand, "Here."

She blinked, and saw in his hands the Azure head. She then gently took it back, but then saw him shiver a bit. She reached out and cupped his face, as she smiled, "You must be freezing." But then he pulled back, as he walked back to the table, and took the books back, as he was attempting to leave.

Though she called out, hoping to speak to him more, "I'm Luz, by the way. Luzura Nozella. But you can call me Luz."

Eli had a faint blush on his cheeks, too, but kept his back to her to hide it, as he said before he left, "Elijah McKnight," And then quickly ran as fast as he could not to face her.

That was the day we met. But... it wouldn't be until years later... when we'd see each other again. And when things would change not just for me... but those around us.
