Jade sat in her bed cutting up some teen magazine she picked up at the gas station by her house, where she got her frozen dinner from for the night. The way her favorite pair of scissors sliced through the overly preppy and romanticized articles was reliving for her, especially after the things her dad said to her over the phone after she called him. On her way home she wanted to tell him about the date Beck took her on the night before. He had surprised her with a beautiful necklace and matching black boots. Sadly, when she tried talking to her dad about her date and how Beck took her to a private screening of her favorite movie, he shut her story down, instead telling her that things with Beck wouldn't last long given that Beck was with her because he felt sorry for her and thought dating the emo mean girl would help his popularity at school.
Jade stood up brushing all the torn papers onto her carpeted floor, watching the hearts she had cut up from the different articles slowly flutter to the ground. Maybe her dad was right? Maybe Beck didn't really want to be with her for real after all. Jade walked to the door of her room then down the stairs toward her family's kitchen. She needed a coffee, even if it was 2am. She wasn't going to sleep anytime soon so it didn't really matter. Drinking coffee was more of a comfort thing for her than it was a drink to keep her up. She went to get her favorite mug out of the cabinet, a large black mug with a small gray heart on it. Cat had given it to her for Valentines Day the year before and it was Jade's favorite even it she would never admit it to Cat.
As Jade was reaching up to grab the mug, her door bell rang and she sighed, annoyed that someone would be ringing her doorbell at 2 in the morning. Not to mention her parents are never home, given that both are traveling home sellers she spends a lot of time by herself. Jade grabbed a knife out of the utensil drawer and walked to the front door looking out the peep hole and sighed in relief as she opened the door.
"Beck, what are you doing here at 2 in the morning?" She said eyeing her boyfriend as she stepped back to make room for him to come inside. She looked him over as he walked in with a silly smile on his face, his black hair sort of matted to his face.
"My RV was a little lonely, and I was up so I ran over to see you."
Jade walked back toward kitchen, Beck right on her heels. He looked around the kitchen quickly understanding what she was doing then pointed his finger to the kitchen seat. Jade sighed and sat down. Beck walked over to the sink and washed his hands, went to the cabinet and grabbed another mug for himself and poured both of them some coffee, smiling as he made Jade's the way she liked it. He held the two mugs as they walked back to Jade's room in silence. Jade moved her scissors she left on the bed to their case and sat down, Beck handing her her mug and then sitting down. Jade sipped the coffee smiling at its warmness.
"So what's really going on?" Beck said looking at her.
"Beck, what are you talking about?"
"Jade look at your floor, you're so bad about cleaning up when you're in a mood, you just leave your bad mood evidence all over the house."
Jade rolled her eyes and looked at Beck. "My dad basically told me you aren't really with me because you care about me and I got to over thinking about it. I mean, think about it? We really shouldn't work. I'm me...and you're you. You'd probably be more happy with someone that's more cheerful, or outgoing. Someone that likes to party or-"
"Jade." Beck said, his voice hard as he put his mug down on the table next to her bed. Jade put her mug down on the bedside table on her side and looked at her boyfriend. Beck reached his hand up to her cheek and left it there looking deeply in her eyes.
"Jade, there is nothing and no one I want more than you. I love the way you speak your mind, I love the way you make other uncomfortable but that's just because they don't know you, I love how you love and protect Cat without a second thought. I love that you make her feel like she can be herself whenever she's around, I love how you take care of me without thinking about it. Jade, I love you. I love you on those days you're pissed at everyone for something your Dad did that made you mad. I love you when you bring me lemonade seven times out of a day because you know I like it. I love you for you. I love you on your bad days, on your good days, on the days when you feel like everything is going right and wrong I love you, Jade West. Just you. "
Beck's thumb ran over Jade's cheek as tears streamed down her face, Beck also loved this side of her. The side where she let down her walls and could be as emotional as she wanted , without fear or judgement. Beck leaned over and connected his lips to hers, sighing as Jade kissed him back full of passion and longing. Jade's head landed on her pile of black and gray pillows and Beck hovered over her. He pulled back and looked down at her, "You're so beautiful."
"I love you Beck, thank you for loving me. All of me." Jade ran her hands through his hair again and smiled as she reconnected their lips.
