Ami Mizuno's favorite Disney female character had been Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Ami believed she had a lot in common with Belle. Belle came to be known for her beauty as she had an abundance of brown hair, hazel eyes, a common dainty straight nose, a delicate mouth with even white teeth and fair pink lips, and fair white skin to the townspeople from her town, but considered odd from her brilliant and curious mind and her academic pursuits which none of her fellow villagers other than the bookshop owner and her father Maurice did which was something Ami could relate to for Belle had been educated. She could read and write and do arithmetic, dance, draw, have good manners, ride horses, and sing and she developed into an avid reader of books which isolated her from her the rest of her fellow villagers did just like Ami. Ami did know how to read and write, come to do arithmetic, did have extensive knowledge in geography, history, science, and technology, fluent in German, and good at computers from her enjoyment of academics and books. Her knowledge of such things isolated her from her fellow classmates. She had longed for someone to talk to just as Belle did until she found that in the Beast which Ami finally found in Aino Minako, Artemis, Chiba Mamoru, Chibi-Usa, Diana, Hino Rei, Kaiou Michiru, Kino Makoto, Luna, Meiou Setsuna, Tenou Haruka, Tomoe Hotaru, and Tsukino Usagi.
"Why do you like Beauty and the Beast so much, Ami-chan?" Makoto had asked during a sleepover with Artemis, Chibi-Usa, Diana, Luna, Minako, Rei, and Usagi where they were taking turns watching their favorite Disney movies.
"Belle is like me," Ami answered, "as both of us enjoy academics and books and came to not have anyone to talk to because others considered us to be odd, so we were both lonely for companionship which Belle finally found with Beast and me with you guys. However, unlike me she had the courage and determination to defend herself from others calling her names and degrading her with insults like Gaston and Lefou when they had insulted Maurice. I wish I had been like her when I was little."
"Do you want to find true love, Ami-chan?" Minako burst out.
"Everyone should find their true loves!" Usagi chirped in.
A pang of jealousy hint Ami. Ami believed that Usagi had been lucky to have found her soulmate and true love in Mamoru who accepted her for who she was, believed in her, cared about her, and did love her. She came to know that she would one day marry Mamoru and have children of her own in her daughter Chibi-Usa. However, she did not hold it against Usagi for there was much she did not know about her own future so maybe she would get married and have children of her own.
"Who does not want to?" Rei declared.
"Maybe," Ami explained, "but only fate knows if we will or not."
