I was made Chunin and soon, under the direct command of Lord Fourth.
Danzo, on the other hand, used to send me on missions to other Lands, often as a sign of goodwill – since I was a ten year old girl.
However, I worked as a spy gathering intel from other lands, seeing their Jutsu, imitating their Chakra.
I could even do this without the Ryuugan physically manifesting.
Since I was just a Chunin Kunoichi and not from any famous clan, and my sensory skills easily outperformed any jonin, I was exceptionally good at undercover missions.

However, not all was good and fun…

That same year, the Kyuubi incident took place.
I and Itachi were saved by Shisui.
But I couldn't save anything.
Despite me being praised at how good I was at ninjutsu or taijutsu or chakra or Sharingan or anything, everything fell like rubble in front of the mountain huge Nine Tails.
I did not have the power to save anything – neither Lord Fourth, nor Kushina-san nor the little kid from the grasps of Kyuubi.
I lost them on that bloodbath night. Lord Fourth sacrificed his life to save me, to save us, to save the village.
I was powerless.
I wept a lot.
.
.
Following the incident,
I was adopted into the Uchiha family, by Fugaku-san.
.
.
Then three days later, Danzo spread the seeds of hatred: The Uchiha had tampered with the Nine Tails to launch this attack on Konoha.
WHAT?!
I flew into a rage and ask him, "How could you say such a thing?! Several Uchiha died alongside Lord Fourth in the incident."
Danzo calmly replied, "I am sure of that. But I would like you to have a look at this."
He took me, Itachi, Fugaku-san and a few other Uchiha to the site where Nine Tails was last seen.
There was still the thick stench of the Kyuubi chakra lingering in the rubble.
He showed us the last remnants and said several Root Sensory Jonin had checked, "There was evidence of Genjutsu being used on the Nine Tails. Now, I wonder who in the village has Genjutsu strong enough to bind the Nine Tails?", he looked piercingly at Fugaku-san.
"The Uchiha sacrificed themselves to save the village! Did you not see that? You can't say the Uchiha did it, you have no proof-"
He cut my words, "Why don't you have a look at it then?"
I understood it. This should lay all fake claims to rest. I will prove this right here and now.
I activate my Ryuugan and focused on the densest chakra mass in the area.
What I see leaves me spellbound, unable to utter a thing.
"What's wrong, Izumi?" asks Fugaku-san.
I shudder and turn around to find Fugaku-san and other Uchiha looking at me with hope.
Danzo poked me to say it to them.
I begin to say slowly, "There is.. signs of Uchiha chakra... genjutsu mingled in the Kyuubi chakra."
It sends waves of horror at them. They gave me looks, I could only describe to be hopeless.
But I immediately fix my gaze at Fugaku-san, "But- it's not Fugaku-san. The chakra signature is totally different."
I hurriedly scatter my gazes at everyone present there.
"It's not- There's no Uchiha in here with the same chakra fingerprint. This wasn't done by them…" I said, in and out of breaths.
"Well then, let's have a gaze at everyone, why don't we?", said Danzo.
.
.
.
.
.
.
By the time night had set in, I had verified the chakra signatures of every Uchiha, except those under 5 years old. And checked that it wasn't them – None in the clan did that horrific act.
However despite my declaration to Fugaku-san and Danzo, Danzo simply brushed it off as,
"However, the fact still stands. This was done by the Sharingan. An Uchiha Genjutsu. It's not impossible for the chakra signature to have degraded enough in 3 days to bar identification."
"B- But..", I stammered.
"That's enough, Izumi. We should head back. It's late", said Fugaku-san.
He took my hand and pulled me away from Danzo
.
.
Following this incident, the Uchiha clan was relocated to a far corner in the outskirts of the village.
And I was seen as an outcast in the Uchiha clan, living in the Clan head's house.
Even though Fugaku-san denied their suspicions and told me to be treated like any other Konoha-nin, the notion was etched into.
Their reasoning is simple and I can't deny it – (i) I was the one who cemented their position as such, and (ii) Even I possessed the Sharingan as well, and my chakra signature was never verified.
Itachi viewed me differently. He didn't think of me as someone who was an outsider.
Whenever he saw me lonely, he didn't say it out right, but would come pick me up as excuse for training. Even though we never quite talked about it, being with him lifted my spirits and I felt safe with him.
I used to take Sasuke out for his training a few times, when he would complain that Itachi didn't train with him but only with me.
