A/N: Another JIBBS oneshot. This is the aftermath of 3x18 'Bait.' This is a JIBBS story. I love how Jenny was ready to go down there but when Ducky stopped her. I hope you enjoy it, Angels.

It's been a very long and tiring day for the Director of NCIS Jennifer 'Jenny, Jen' Shepard with her best lead agent, ex-boss and ex-lover going into a classroom where a 15 year old kid who had a bomb strapped to his chest was holding his home room class hostage. She wanted to go down to the school and do something but was stopped by Ducky, the medical examiner at NCIS. The elderly good doctor was right in a way: she would've only been a hindrance if she went down there but she was right in a way too: she was Jethro's partner for a long time in more ways than just professionally, she knew Jethro better than anyone and she also knew that her ex-lover would've sacrificed himself if it meant that a classroom of terrified kids would be spared.

After personally escorting Kody Meyers and his parents to the elevator, the redhead looks around the squadroom for Jethro but doesn't see him. "He's with Ducky in Autopsy." Tony says from his desk, she turns to the Italian Senior Field Agent and gives him a smile. "You did a good job today, DiNozzo." She says before walking to the elevator, pressing the button for Autopsy. She leans back against the elevator wall and lets out a breath that she had been holding in all day. She thought she was going to lose him today.

With anger and concern filling her body, Jenny storms into Autopsy where Jethro is sitting on a metal table, shirtless but she doesn't slow down to admire his Marine sculptured chest, littered with scars from various bullet wounds, instead she walks up to him and slaps him across the face hard. The crack of her hand across his face fills the room.

"That," Jenny says angrily. "was for sacrificing yourself." She slaps him again, even harder. "That," the anger in her voice rises. "was for scaring me all day." Jenny slaps him for a third time. "That," she growls at him. "was for making me think I'd lose you!" She yells at him, breathing heavily. Jethro doesn't say anything to her about her slapping him across the face three times, he just looks at her, his face full of guilt.

"Sorry, Jen." Her lead agent says softly before he puts on his shirt and stands up and pulling her into his arms which she fights until she gives up and melts into his arms, crying. "I.. I thought I'd lose you today." Jenny sobs into his shoulder. She feels his lips kiss her long ponytailed hair. "I know, Duck told me he had to stop you from going down to the school." Jenny nods into his shoulder before pulling away from him. Jenny sighs.

"Yeah, he did. God, Jethro, I really thought I'd lose you today. I couldn't think about anything but getting the call that you had been killed." The redheaded says as tears roll down her face once more.

Jethro Gibbs hates himself right now. He sighs as he pulls Jen back into his arms. He didn't think about Jen and her feelings when she found out that he had walked into the classroom that was full with terrified kids and a teenager who had a bomb strapped to his chest.

"I lost you once six years ago, Jethro, I can't lose you again." Jen says as she lifts her head from his shoulder.

"You're not going to lose me, Jen. I'm safe, I'm alive and I'm here." Jethro says gently, kissing her lips. He smiles into the kiss before they pull away from each other. Jen is smiling a dazzling smile as she stares into his eyes. "If we didn't kiss before midnight, Ducky was going to murder us." His redhead says giggling. Jethro chuckles as he cups her face. "If we didn't kiss by midnight, I was going to come into your office and kiss you regardless of what you said or did to me afterwards." Jen told her eyes before kissing him deeply. "I love you, Jethro." Jen says to him in a whisper after she's pulled away from him. Jethro tucks a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"I love you too, Jen." The former marine sniper tells her.

From the shadows of the cold room, an elderly doctor smiles at the two people he considers children who finally admitted their love for one another after six years of being apart and heartache on both sides.
