Mulder rose early, he always liked being the first one to wake up on the weekends. It gave him time to read and have a couple of cups of coffee in silence. He would take his usual seat outside on the patio, overlooking the pink earthen desert. Soon the house would be chaotic and alive with laughter and an occasional crying fit.
"Hey, good morning Professor." Scully stepped out onto the patio. She was wearing her pink fuzzy robe, the one he got her for Valentine's Day. She leaned over the back of his chair and kissed him on his cheek, arms resting on his chest.
"Shall I do the honors this morning or will you?"
He smiled fondly at his wife of one year, "I will do it. You make pancakes?"
"Absolutely" she slid around his chair and took a seat on his lap. "Chocolate chip and banana." She leaned in and kissed his nose.
The room was dark except for the galaxy night light that projected stars on the ceiling. He could hear the babbling already, "Da da da."
"Hey champ," speaking to the brown haired baby boy. "And how is William doing this morning?"
A squeal this time, from hearing his dad's voice as Mulder reached into the crib to grab his son.
Across the room another sound mimics Williams, much higher pitch and much more demanding,
"Da, da, da, me, me."
"I hear you, and see you baby girl, daddy's coming."
Mulder hooked William to his hip and walked over to the other crib where a strawberry blonde baby girl stood hanging her hands outside the crib slats.
"So much like your momma, we won't be late for breakfast, I promise my baby girl."
He wrapped one arm around her little waist and lifted her onto his other hip. A move he had become quite adept at.
"Let's go, team Mulder; we have pancakes to eat."
