The Guardian Returns Ch. 01
Within what seems like a deserted city, there are crumbling buildings, turned over cars, and empty streets. There is no living thing in sight. Then, from around the corner comes a woman running for her life.
Chasing after the woman is a large bird-like monster with sharp claws and razor teeth, covered in scales almost blood red in color.
The woman is awfully familiar with this creature. She knows it by the name of Gyaos, an artificial monster with only one desire. To feed on human flesh. She is terrified that this could be the end.
The woman turns at another corner that had a dead end. She then hears a growl right behind her. The Gyaos licks its lips. There was nothing she could do. She felt her pockets and remembered what she was carrying, a broken charm she had for as long as she can remember.
The woman holds the charm in her hands and prays, hoping that it will still work. Suddenly, just as the Gyaos is about to pounce, it gets pulled back by something larger. The woman goes to see if it was who she is expecting. Standing there, a turtle at least three hundred feet tall standing on its hind legs.
"Gamera!" The woman cheers. Gamera throws the Gyaos a good distance and fires a fireball at it and kills it instantly.
The Woman thought she was safe before she hears a loud cracking sound. The building behind her is falling apart. She closes her eyes expecting the worst. When nothing happened, she opens one eye and sees Gamera holding up the building.
Then, she hears screeching of a Gyaos. Coming towards them at an alarming speed is a Gyaos, much larger than the other one. As the screeching gets louder as it got closer, the woman starts noticing that the screech sounds more like ringing tone.

The woman jumps up and looks around to sees that she is in her bedroom. After turning the alarm off the woman sits there for a moment waiting for her heart to slow down.
Most people would just shrug that dream off like any nightmare, but she could not. For it was not just a nightmare, it was a memory.
After getting up and dressed. she looks at herself in the mirror. The woman has long brown almost black hair and brown eyes. The woman is wearing a yellow shirt and blue jeans.
As she heads for the door to leave her apartment. She grabs her purse setting on the counter and checks to make sure she has everything. The first thing she pulls out is the charm from the dream, except it is no longer broken. She puts it back and retrieves the keys then her wallet to see how much money she has left. The first thing you see in the wallet is her ID that reading 'Asagi Kusanagi.'
This is the same Asagi that built a spiritual bond with Gamera during the Gyaos infestation. Asagi has no idea what happened after seeing the Gyaos appear in her dream. All she remembers was a bright light. After that? She woke up in Osaka, but she knew that there was something different about this Osaka.
Another thing she knows for sure is that all the things that happened to her in the past never happened here. Even the date was further ahead than it should have. Another thing is that she could not find anyone she knew. All her friends and even her father does not seem to exist in this Osaka or this Earth for that matter.
All that Asagi could do was try and start a new life. She had recently started a job as a waitress at a nearby diner. That helps pay the bills.
Asagi finds her new life hard and rather boring. Today, however, she had a strange feeling that it was going to be different. She does not know how; It is just a feeling.

After work Asagi picked up some well needed groceries for her apartment. On her way home she accidentally bumps into a man on the streets, fell on the sidewalk, and drops her groceries.
"Sorry, ma'am. Are you all right?" the man asks holding out his hand to help her up.
"Yes I'm fine." Asagi grabbed his hand and got back up. "Thank you," she tells him as she gets a look at him. She does not know why but she feels like she should know him. The man is rather tall, wearing a long brown coat and dark green pants. He is wearing a hat that covers his face along with the collar of the coat.
He helps her pick the groceries back up and hands them to her. "Here you go, Ms. Asagi," then he continues his walk down the street. As he passes by she notices that there is a strange bulge on his back as if he was hunched over.
Asagi then realizes that she never told him her name. Before she could ask him how he knew, the stranger was gone. She decides that it was probably her imagination and continues to her apartment.
It is getting late so Asagi decides to try a short cut to her building through an alley. Before she gets to the end of an alley; a strange man jumps out of nowhere.
"Hello, pretty lady. Mind if I have a look in your purse?" he asks. The man looks mostly normal wearing a black jacket, blood red shirt, jeans, and boots. He has brown almost black hair spiked up and yellow eyes. The most unusual thing about him was probably what looked like leather going down on both sides of his face.
"Y-yes I do mind," Asagi tells him, trying to sound brave.
"Come on not even a little peek?" then the leather pops up giving him some resemblance to a frilled lizard, and he starts to growl.
The woman instinctively grabs the charm around her neck, "What are you?"
"You humans called me Zedus," he introduces as he starts walking closer to her. Asagi can feel her heart beating faster with every step.
"Not another step, Zedus," a voice call from behind her. Looking over her shoulders, seeing the same stranger that she bumped into earlier. Asagi stares at him in wonder.
"Yeah and what are you going to do about it?"
The stranger walks past Asagi putting himself right between her and Zedus. He removes his hat to show the green tuft of hair that resembled a mohawk, green eyes, even his skin had a greenish tone to it. He also has two tusks coming up and out of his mouth. Taking off his coat, it at first looked like he was wearing some kind of armor. Taking another look at it you can see it is actually a shell similar to a turtle's. He tosses his clothes to the side and cracks his knuckles.
Asagi stares at him for a moment before saying his name. "Gamera?"
At the sound of this, Zedus had sticks his tongue, stretching all the way towards Gamera. The tongue is spear tipped at the end that pierces through the turtle's arm.
Asagi screams as she feels a sharp pain in her arm forcing her to drop her groceries once again. Looking at her arm she sees that it is bleeding in the same spot that Gamera was stabbed. Looking back at Gamera she sees that he barely flinched from the attack even though green blood is oozing out of his arm.
Gamera hatefully glares at Zedus. Gamera opens his mouth, and a flame starts forming. Before Zedus could retract his tongue a blast of flame is shot into his mouth and forces his tongue to retract. Gamera then charges, head butts, kicks, and punches him before throwing the frilled one into a dumpster. Zedus tries getting out before Gamera slams the lid shut on his head.
Gamera turns back to walk over where his clothes are, puts them back on, and starts to walk out of the alley.
"Um, Gamera?" his attention is brought back to Asagi who is standing there looking nervous. "Thank you, You saved me," she bows. "To show my gratitude I would be honored to serve you dinner."
He looks at her for a moment then he gives a small smile.
NOTE: This is a bit of a tie-in to the Main Story for Kaiju Fighters.
