For the Nifty and Swiftie challenge on the Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry Forum.

After the discovery of the submarine (and, more importantly, the discovery of one Sara Ellis), Alex surprises even herself when she finds herself back in Neal Caffrey's apartment. She's even more surprised when she accepts Mozzie's offer of a glass of wine.

"You've been Neal's shadow for a long time, Mozzie." She wonders a second too late if that's a cruel thing to say, but he doesn't seem to mind. "Don't you ever want something else? To be somewhere else? To be someone else?"

"I want my white whale. My final score. I can't do that without Neal." He exhales longingly. Then he looks at her, all knowing and eyebrows raised. "But it sounds like you're asking because you want something else. To be somewhere else. To be someone else."

"I don't know what I want," Alex says with a shrug. "Don't ask me."

"I thought you were supposed to be a good liar."

She rolls her eyes. "I think you know that I can't have that."

Saying it out loud makes it real. She's finally letting go. Neal—her and Neal together—has always been a fantasy just out of reach.

"I don't like Sara," Mozzie says suddenly. "She's on the other side. She's not like Neal. She'll try to change him. Just like the Suit."

He says it so earnestly that Alex can't help but laugh. He looks confused, but when she raises her glass towards him, he allows the rim of his glass to clink against hers in cheers.

"Thanks Moz."

She downs the rest of her wine quickly, then gathers her bag and coat. But when she goes to close the door behind her, Mozzie places his hand on the handle, forcing her to pause.

"You'll come back for him one day."

"No." Alex gives him a wry smile. "But if he calls, I'll answer."

Okay. So maybe she hasn't given up on the dream completely. Not just yet.
