Chapter 3: A Journey Through Waterfall.
The group passed through Snowdin Forest and entered the Waterfall.
"So, Charlie, have you ever seen the ocean?" Frisk asked.
"No. Have you?" Charlie answered.
"I've seen it in pictures. Have you seen stars?" Frisk asked again.
"Nope."
"Me neither. Hey, what's that thing over there?" Frisk asked, looking at a blue flower.
"It's an echo flower." Charlie answered.
"Cool." Frisk said.
Frisk touched the Echo Flower and heard a voice: "Behind you."
"Did you hear that?" Frisk asked.
"Uh, I didn't hear anything."
"Weird. Oh, look, there's a sign."
"Huh? Where?"
"Here, near the flower. It says: Caution: echo flowers repeat the last thing they heard, over and over."
"Oh. So, that's where the voice came from."
"I guess so."
"Well, what are you waiting for? Let's go."
"Yeah, right."
The two walked for a while, until they saw a bridge, guarded by a sentry.
"Oh, hey, there's a guard!" Frisk said.
"Hey, kid, I'm gonna have to stop you."
"Why, what's wrong?" Frisk asked.
"This is a toll bridge."
"A toll bridge? What's a toll bridge?" Frisk asked.
"This bridge has a toll."
"What's a toll?" Frisk asked.
"Look, kid, are you going to pay or not?" The guard asked.
"What's your name?" Frisk asked, avoiding the question.
"I'm Doggo."
"You're a dog? I love dogs! What breed are you?" Charlie said.
"I'm a white shorthair." Doggo said.
"Oh, I'm a black longhair." Charlie said.
"Hey, uh, kid, do you have money?" Doggo asked.
"Yeah, why?" Frisk asked with irritation as she handed him her wallet.
"Well, give me some."
"Why should I?" Charlie said.
"Because, if you don't, I'll have to call my boss, and my boss is the Royal Guard."
"So, you work for the Royal Guard? That's so cool! Can I see your badge?" Charlie asked, excited.
"Sure. Here's my badge."
"Cool, can I keep it?" Charlie asked.
"No." Doggo responded.
"Aw, man!"
"So, where did you come from?" Doggo asked with curiosity.
"Uh, from the Surface, of course." Frisk said.
"Yeah, I've heard the legends, about the surface."
"Really?" Charlie said.
"Yeah. I've always wanted to go up there, but the only way I can is if the barrier breaks." Doggo said.
"You really think the barrier will break someday?" Frisk asked.
"I sure hope so. I wanna see the surface." Doggo said with sadness.
"Well, maybe when the barrier breaks, you can come with us, and we'll show you all around." Charlie suggested.
"Heh, you think so? That'd be nice. Well, enough chit-chat, time for you guys to pay the toll." Doggo said.
"Okay. Here, take this, and get out of the way." Frisk said, handing Doggo the money and pushing him aside.
"Oh, hey, what the-! Why, you little..." Doggo said.
"Frisk! That was rude." Charlie said.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it. But, can we please keep going?"
"Well, okay, but let's be nice next time, alright?" Charlie said.
"Sure."
"Great."
Charlie and Frisk continued walking in Waterfall.
"Frisk, do you have powers? Like, you can talk to animals or something like that?" Charlie asked.
"What, uh, why?" Frisk replied, looking surprised.
"You know, because, you're a human. You might have a special ability or something."
"No, not really. Do you have one?" Frisk asked.
"Yes, I have. I can heal others, with my powers."
"Well, I guess I don't have one." Frisk replied.
"Oh, okay. Just curious."
"Hey, Charlie, look at the water."
"Yeah, it's so beautiful. I think I could stay here all day."
"Yeah, it's cool."
While they were watching the water, they noticed something there.
"Hey, Frisk, do you see that thing in the water?"
"I don't know. What is that thing?"
The thing started to move, and It appears has a knight, but It was not a peaceful one.
"I don't know, but I think it's coming at us."
The Knight was getting close to them. THey decided to run, but the knight was too fast.
"Charlie, look out!"
"AAHH!" Frisk screams.
The Knight hit Charlie with her sword, and she fell unconscious.
"CHARLIE!"
Charlie was laying on the floor, and blood was running through her clothes.
"Oh, no. Hey, can you hear me, Charlie? It's me, Frisk. Charlie? Are you okay?" Frisk said so worried.
But the knight was still chasing them, and he was getting closer.
"HEY, COME BACK HERE!" Frisk said.
They started to fight. The knight was very tough, and he was able to block every attack. Frisk didn't know what to do, so she thought she was done.
"Come on, Frisk, think, what can I do now?"
Suddenly, a fireball came and hit the knight, who was burned to death.
"Oh, thanks." Frisk said, looking at the figure who was behind the fireball.
"Hmph. Don't thank me, it was an accident. I didn't want to hit him, but, anyway, who are you? And why were you fighting that monster?" The figure asked.
"Oh, sorry. My name is Frisk. Who are you?" Frisk said.
"I'm Nana." Nana said.
"Nice to meet you, Nana. Well, actually, it's not. But, anyway, the reason we were fighting was because the knight tried to attack us, and..."
"Us? What do you mean by us?" Nana interrupted.
"Oh, right, uh, my friend is hurt. I need help." Frisk said with sadness.
"Alright. Let's see." Nana said, checking on Charlie.
"I think they're gonna be alright."
"Oh, that's good. Thank you, Nana."
"Yeah, yeah, no problem."
"Well, uh, Nana, if you want, we can be friends. Do you have friends, Nana?"
"Not really. My parents don't allow me to have friends."
"Why? What happened to your parents, Nana?"
"Nothing. They just hate monsters. They told me that they won't allow me to have monster friends."
"Oh. I see."
"Yeah. So, I was wondering, are you a monster?"
"No, I'm not. I'm a human."
"You're a human? But, I thought you were a monster."
"Well, no, I'm a human. But, Nana, I have a question. Have you ever seen another human?"
"I have, a long time ago."
"What was the name of the human?"
"Their name was... Chara. They were the first human to fall down here."
"Who's Chara?"
"They were a child like you. They came from the surface, and fell into the underground. I met them when I was a kid, and we became best friends. Then, they disappeared."
"Did they die?"
"I don't know. I think so."
"Oh. Sorry."
"No, it's okay. It's not your fault."
"Anyway, where are you going?"
"I'm going to Waterfall, to meet a friend."
"Well, I should go to hotland, but Charlie is injured."
"I see. Well, what if you come with me, and I take you and your friend to Hotland?"
"Well, I guess that's fine. Let's go."
"Good. Let's go then."
The three traveled through Waterfall, until they got to Hotland.
"Alright, now you can go." Nana said.
"Are you sure? We could hang out together."
"Yes, I'm sure. Anyway, I'm going to a lab."
"What, a lab?"
"Yeah, you know, the Royal Laboratory."
"Oh, right. I know what the laboratory is."
"Great. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm going there."
"Well, wait, what about Charlie?"
"What about them?"
"They are hurt. We have to help them."
"Well, I have no time for that. Bye."
Nana walks away.
"Well, goodbye. It was nice meeting you." Frisk said, waving goodbye.
A bit before, Charlie woke up.
"Hey, Charlie, how are you feeling?"
"Um, okay, I guess. Where are we?"
"In Hotland."
"What? How did we get here?"
"Nana helped us. She brought us here."
"Who? Nana?"
"She is a new friend, and she is the one who saved you.
"Oh, thanks. Wait, what about the knight? Is it gone?"
"Yep, the knight is dead."
"Who was the knight? And why did it attacked us?"
"I don't know. We never saw him before."
"Oh, okay. Thanks for saving me, by the way."
"Oh, no problem. It was nothing."
"It wasn't nothing, Frisk. You saved my life."
"Aw, thanks."
"No problem."
"Well, anyway, do you want to go inside the lab?"
"Sure, why not?"
The two walked in the lab.
