Cutting to the next scene...
After Babs deduction that the purple canary, Fifi, is hiding something from them, namely the fact that she has a 'boyfriend', an amazing one to top. The pink bunny and loon decided to follow her, wanting to see the guy for themselves, leading them to the park. The location itself not having anything special, actually being quite the regular space for personal recreation and enjoying time with friends and family.
Truly nothing loony or zanny in here, everything is normal and peaceful, although the talking bush near the park entrance is certainly an oddity.
"Do you see her, Shirley?"
"Like, no, Babs. It's, like, too hard to see with these leaves." The reason being, Babs Bunny and Shirley Loon are hiding inside waiting for their purple friend to meet with her boyfriend.
"Me neither, but we'll have to wait."
"It's been, like an hour already! Can't we, like, at least find another hideout? This one is, like, too cramped and stuff."
"Nope. This is the best place where nobody can see us! Just endure it, Shirl."
"Like, dang it!"
Unbeknown to them, the young canary obviously knew that her friends would follow her. She intentionally lead them into the park and after making sure that they can't see her thanks to their obvious hideout. Folding her wings, she took her flight in the air akin to a rocket. This act pained her, because she valued the friendship she has with Babs and Shirley, but promised Furrball... She promised Furrball... Her mind returning to the conversation she had with her friends and the fresh memory truly made the purple canary heart flutter. In him she didn't saw a vile feline that wanted to hurt her or anyone, but a kind and courageous boy who wanted people to be happy, even if he ends up sad and lonely.
She needs to find him.
Scene change...
Back at the Acme Acres Junkyard, Furrball was waiting next to Fifi's pink Cadillac. Normally this is where he will meet with her and go by foot to see the places in Acme Acres, but today his purple friend is taking longer to come...
'I hope she's alright,' Furrball thought, eyes glued to the entrance in the junkyard, but at the same time a shadow loomed over him without noticing. Soon Fifi Canari descended, and was next to her friend, but his eyes didn't move from the entrance.
"Uh, Furrball?" Fifi worried, as Furrball quickly spun, facing her.
"Oh, h-hi, Fifi!" he greeted, scratching the back of his head.
"Are vous alright?"
"Y-Yes, I was worried something happened and you and had to call off our tour,"
"Well... Vous see..." Fifi mumbled. "Babs and Shirley, zhey how do you say, sorta in a way found about us..."
"W-What?!", Furrball eyes bulged out, fear taking over as he started nibbling his nails. "W-Why? How? D-Did they tell the others?! Is Sweetie going to chase me with a chainsaw from now on?! Are you in trouble because of me?!"
"Non! Non, mon ami! Zhey just found out I was, how do you say, hang out in zhe city with someone," she explained, not sure if she should reveal the 'boyfriend' part. "Zhey don't know about zhe fake chases and vous know, our friendship..."
Furrball ceased to move. His furry cheecks blushing dark blue in embarrassment, "I see."
"Fufu.~ Vous are funny," Fifi giggled.
"I overreacted," Furrball admited, still embarrassed. "Still, I'm glad you aren't in any trouble because of me."
The young canary blinked, then blushed pink, "You flatter moi sweet mon amo- I mean ami! Vous are very sweet- I mean nice, mon ami!"
"Alright," Furrball shrugged, thinking she maybe was exhausted? "If you are tired, we can do the tour in another day." Their fake chases while harmless are still exhausting, and their last one was just before the classes ended. Maybe that's why it took her this long to arrive?
"Don't worwy about moi, mon ami," Fifi declared. "I still have plenty of strength in moi wings and I made sure Babs and Shirley won't follow us."
"Where are we going today?" she asked, hoping that it would be a place suited to sort her feelings to Furrball.
"We've already been to many places in the city, how about the park today?" Furrball suggested.
"Could we go een anozher place? Zhis ees where Babs and Shirley will spy us," Fifi answered.
"Oh, then maybe at Weeenie Burger? ...But, the others are here at this hour," One disadvantage about Furrball's rise to a sort of popularity (at least in the eyes of his teacher) was the fact that it made his classmates keep their distance for him. This didn't really bother him, because they never paid much attention to him in the first place, but the fact remains that in their eyes he and Fifi are mortal enemies certainly didn't help. They need to keep up that image after all.
That's when on top of Furrball's head, a lightbulb formed and shined, "I think I know where we can go. My favourite and best place in all of Acme Acres!"
"Zhe best in Acme Acres?" questioned the young canary, both full of curiosity and excitement at the mention of such a place. Maybe it was somewhere very romantic where they can be alone, who knows?
"But we need to pack food," said the blue feline. "The place is quite far from the city."
"Oui! Een zhis case, I will prepare somezhing immediatly!" chirped the purple canary.
"Let me help you, Fifi. It's the least I could do,"
"I'd be happy to, mon ami.~" blushed Fifi with a wide smile on her beak.
Cutting to the next scene...
After helping the purple canary make some vegetarian sandwiches and storing them in a picnic basket along with a blanket, Furrball lead the way for Fifi to follow him. Both walking side by side together and sporting smiles on their faces and simply enjoying each other company in this road to the 'special place' Furrball mentioned which seemed to be quite far out of town. After several minutes, they are now outside of town and near a large hill.
"Sacre bleu, Furrball," Fifi complained, tired and sweating while her best friend/crush doesn't look exhausted the least. "How much farther? My feet are killing moi."
"Don't worry, Fifi," Furrball replied. "We are almost there. We just need to climb this hill."
"Mon dieu...", gaped Fifi. That hill looked like a small mountain and Furrball wants to climb it? Just how much stamina a cat has? "H-How about we stay zhere and have zhe picnic here, no?"
"Please, you won't regret it, Fifi. I promise," Furrball pleaded, his hand gently taking hold of the young canary wing.
"A-Alright, mon ami," Fifi replied, blushing subtly.
As they continued walking, the blue feline didn't let go of Fifi's wing as she seemed to like having her wing holded by Furrball's gentle touch. Soon, in another matter of minutes, the two toons arrived at the hill.
"We've arrived, Fifi," Furrball said.
"We did?" Fifi asked. During the climbing she could only think about Furrball's gentle touch of her wing. Her eyes focused on his smiling visage, not even thinking of her tired feet.
"Yep, we're here", Furrball replied. "Take a look."
As Fifi reluctantly took her eyes off him, she gasped in awe at the sight that greeted her eyes.
They were standing at the top of the hill, and in front of them was a wondrous view of the city. Many of the buildings were lit up with the night sky hovering above them.
"C'est magnifique", she whispered with her eyes wide open in complete amazement. "Zhis ees wonderful, Furrball. I have never seen anytheeng like zhis een moi entire life."
"R-Really?", Furrball blushed, thinking that Fifi's just modest with him. She must've seen many incredible things she can fly, but nonetheless he still appreciated her kind words. "This is pretty much my favorite spot. I've always enjoyed coming here when the sky is clear at night. It gives me the chance to see the city and the stars."
The blue feline then presented the picnic basket, opening it and taking out the blanket as Fifi sat down on the hill with him sitting next to her. They both stared at the marvelous view of the city for a moment before Fifi took a deep breath and spoke again.
"Eet's all verwy pretty, Furrball, but I need to tell vous somezhing..."
"Did something happen?" Furrball asked, starting to feel worried by the tone in his friend's voice.
"Vous can say eet did..." the purple canary then took another deep breath of air and continued. "Did vous remeber what I'm searching since I arrived een America?"
"Yes," Furrball nodded. "You said that you wanted to find yourself a boyfriend,"
"Oui. But not many know eet's only a part of zhe reason why I leaved Paris een order to go to zhe Looniversity."
"...I wasn't happy with liveeng een France, mon ami."
Furrball blinked, not expecting something like this. He though that France was one of the best countries in the world and she was here to simply spend time with her uncle, Tweety Bird, and see America.
The young canary was a little hesitant at first, but after a moment, she continued.
"When I was still in France, I was tres desperate to have a lover. Because of moi size, zhe other canary boys stayed away from moi and some of zhe other girls kept making fun of eet."
"That's horrible!" shouted Furrrball incredulously. He never thought that somenone so cheerful and happy like Fifi could have such a past.
"I know, and zhe worst part is, zhey all had boyfriends. Not only were zhey mocking moi, but zhey were also, how you say, rubbing eet een my face."
"But, eef zhere was somezhing worse een Paris, zhat was puddy tats. Zhey were zhe ones that wanted to hunt and eat moi just because I was slightly bigger zhan ozher canaries. Zhose vile jerks were always tryeeng to chase moi with zhe fork and knife ready to turn moi into a steak! I couldn't stand them zhe most!" Fifi paused, realizing she had gone a bit too far judging by the expression of guilt on Furrball's face. She took a deep breath and went on.
"Eet all changed one day, when I received a letter from moi oncle telling me about zhe wonderful place called 'The Acme Looniversity'. Just reading about eet, I knew zhis ees where I belong!" Fifi proclaimed, smiling. "Zhe next day, I packed everyzhing and gave mère and père zhe longest hug ever and flyed to America."
"I didn't know..." Furrball said sadly. At the beginning it never occured to him why a canary who seemed to detest cats in the first day of arrival would help him, but now he understands. She has a family, but never truly felt at home in her country and that's why she decided to leave in hopes of finding a better place where she won't be mocked for being unlike the other canaries and find someone special, while he, who never had a home and family is searching for one. Into a way, both of them are kind of similar.
"Don't worwy. Eet's all in zhe past, mon ami." Fifi tried to reassured him. "When I arrived een Acme Acres, I made many great friends and I, how you say, catched up with Oncle Tweety since I haven't seen heem zhe day I hatched from moi egg. ...But zhe person zhat I treasure zhe most ees vous, Furrball."
Furrball blinked, his cheeks blushing dark blue, "...Me?"
"Oui, vous," the purple canary nodded, sporting a contrasting beet red blush to Furrball's own. "When I meet vous back in moi first day, I was actually afraid zhat moi, how do you say, cat trouble would keep going even een America. Zhat's why I helped Sweetie."
"But, during zhat storm, I realized vous weren't like zhose cats back een Paris. I realized zhat vous weren't a vile puddy tat that wanted to hurt moi or anyone, but a kind, brave, and cute boy who wanted ozhers to be happy."
Furrball could only slowly point to himself, his blush stronger then ever. S-She thinks he's kind and brave a-a-and cute!?
"All zhese days I was with vous were zhe greatest since I arrived een America. I want to be with vous and help you find your own family and happiness, because I love vous, Furrball. I love you. I love you." The young canary finished. She did it... She confessed her feelings to Furrball! She declared her love to the one boy she had her heart set and only realized quite late.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Furrball...? Are vous alright?" asked Fifi, seeing that her confesssion leaved the blue feline at a loss of words. He was still blushing bluer then ever, but didn't even move a muscle. Was the confession too much for him and he's gone into shock?
She waited a few moments...
And then a few more...
And he was still the same.
'M-Maybe I was wrong and he doesn't feel zhe same way about moi...' thought the young canary. He was a cat and cats aren't friends with canaries... cats and canaries are only just that...
Sighing, she rose up from her seat and began to turn away. Not even a few inches, she was tapped by the shoulder? Turning she saw that it was Furrball's who's done it. Blushing he tried to say something, but nothing at all, his mouth looking funny as he tries with all his strength to find the right words to convey.
"Vous don't have to force yourself, mon ami," Fifi whispered, her eyes closed. "Eet was moi fault...!"
Before the purple canary could finish, she found herself embraced by Furrball and quickly pulled into a kiss. She closed her eyes and let herself be embraced by Furrball's warmth. Soon, his lips separated from her beak, both giving the sentence 'to blush' a new meaning. They stared a few moments at each other, still embraced, before Furrball managed to speak.
"I love you too, Fifi."
They both smiled while looking at each other romantically as Fifi wrapped her wings around Furrball, pulling each other together, until his nose and her beak touched, doing the same with their foreheads till they saw nothing but each other's eyes. In this moment, they didn't care that they were a cat and a canary, two mortal enemies since the beginning of times or since 1947 in toons case, but two young kids in love.
"I'd love to be your boyfriend," Furrball said in a soft, loving tone.
Once again, the blue feline closed the distance, giving Fifi Canari, his girlfriend another kiss. It was truly a memorable night, the sky above them was filled with billions of stars brightly shine above the two. All their majesty presented before the new couple, as they bask in this new moment that has changed their lifes, as a single tiny yellow feather fell in the night sky, completly ignored and unseen by the cat and canary. Their future's still unknown and with their new relationship will come many conflicts, but in the end that's a possibility of the future. For now, the two of them just want to enjoy this sweet moment alone and undisturbed.
The End
This marks the end of the AU idea that I dreamt about the Furrball and Fifi couple. I literally had no idea how I managed to do it, especially since I barely remember what happened in the dream that originated this concept. I wrote this as a bit of distraction from another story that I put to stop because I was at a loss ideas of what's next and to try the standard writing style that everyone expects to see. It took a while, but I can't say that I hate how it turned up. Feel free to comment whether you liked the story, you hate it or just think that I'm a few screw loose for posting this weird AU idea.
Can't say that there will be a part two or such, but for now all I can say is...
That's all Folks!
P.S: The song Furrball used is a modified version of the song "There's No Way Home" from the 1985, 'Alice in Wonderland' Television Special.
