With a grunt of exertion, she pushes her opponent back before rushing forward and bringing the hilt of her spectral sword down on the back of his head, rendering the man unconscious as she had with his allies. With a sigh she dissolves her weapon and checks the time. 5AM.
Hand going to her earpiece, she checks in with her partner, "Hey Firefly, you done on your end?"
A voice comes through the other end, "Of course I am, who do you take me for Bones?"
She can hear the smirk in his voice, which she matches with one of her own, "Whatever you say, you overgrown tinderbox. I'll meet you at the usual spot, alright?"
"You got it."
Turning back to her defeated opponents, Bones quickly goes about tying them up and signaling the local police before ascending a nearby fire escape and taking off. Hopping between rooftops, she can't help but still feel the same excitement as when she and Firefly had first started their work as Vigilantes. The challenge of the job combined with doing good for the people just put a smile on her face. Well, it was supposed to be a smile. In reality it was more of a feral grin that scared the shit out of anyone that saw it.
Arriving at her destination, she sees she arrived first and decides to take a seat while she waits for her partner. Soon after she hears someone land on the roof gravel. Turning towards the sound, she finds that the new arrival isn't her partner, but is instead Eraserhead.
Lightly cursing under her breath, Bones hops to her feet, "Well, this is unfortunate. How can I help you tonight, Eraser?"
Eraserhead lets out a tired sigh, "Look, I'm not here for a fight."
A voice echoes out from a different side of the roof, "Well that's a relief.", Firefly had just arrived, "I didn't want to have to barbecue one of my favorite Heroes."
Bones raises an eyebrow, not that anyone can see it under her mask, "So, what brings you here tonight Eraser?"
The Hero takes a seat, back against the ledge lining the edges of the roof, "To talk. You two have been doing a lot of good work ever since you started, and have even helped me out on a few jobs. So really, I'd like to know why two promising individuals such as yourselves turned to Vigilantism instead of going through the Hero Course."
The two Vigilantes share a glance before seemingly coming to a silent agreement and joining Aizawa, taking seats near his little corner of the roof. The two are silent for a minute, silently debating how this conversation should go.
Coming to a decision, Bones speaks first, "We both have… Issues… with the way the Hero System is run. A lot of people are given too much leeway, despite all the damage they cause. There's also the commercialization of what is supposed to be an assortment of people just keeping the peace and helping those who need it. With the way our lives seem to revolve around Heroes now it also encourages a very toxic mindset towards those with 'weak', 'useless', and 'Villainous' Quirks."
Firefly nods, also piping up to add to his partner's statement, "The two of us have also done things that… we aren't exactly proud of, and no one in their right mind would call Heroic."
Eraserhead looks between the two Vigilantes before him. If he had to guess their ages based on what he knew of them, he'd say these two were somewhere in their early twenties. Barely adults. With how long they'd been at this, he can only guess how young they had started… He wishes he could've sat down with these two earlier, tried to talk thing through, tried to help them. As much as Heroes tried to do, there will always be people they can't reach. Just how badly had the system failed these two?
Filing these questions away for later, he decides to ask a question, "Hypothetically speaking, if you had the opportunity to become Heroes, no judgment for your pasts or present, would you take it?"
The two are silent. They had considered this line of questioning before, but had never come to any concrete answer.
Bones comes to her answer first, "I think I'd at least like to give it a shot. Going Underground doesn't sound too terrible, and it gives us a leg up on trying to promote change. However, given everything that's been said, I couldn't guarantee it would stick."
Eraser nods, a sensible answer, and one that leans in favor of his plans.
Next is Firefly, "I suppose I'd give it a shot. It'd definitely piss off my old man if I became a Hero after he wrote me off as a failure. And hey, I still want to help people, given I'm going at this whole Vigilante thing."
Eraser nods. Good, they were both open to the idea.
Eraser thinks to himself for a few moments before cursing under his breath. Pulling a scrap of paper and a pen out of his belt pouches, he quickly scribbles something down and passes it to Bones.
"That's my phone number," he explains, "If you two ever need anything, and I do mean anything, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm serious about this. You two do some excellent work, and a lot of Heroes could learn a thing or two from you. So if you need help with money, a job reference, someone to help hide a body-"
Bones cuts in, "Wait, what?"
Eraser ignores her question, "Call me. I'm serious."
Standing, Eraser takes a look at the time, "Well, It's nearly 6AM now, and I think we all have places to be. I'll see you two around."
With that he takes off into the night, leaving two confused Vigilantes behind him. After a moment to process what the man had said, the two stand and take off in the other direction, returning to their own home.
Upon their return, through the window of course, the two immediately start stripping off their patrol gear.
As Bones' mask and hood come off, they reveal a pale young woman with long black hair, dark turquoise eyes, and a smattering of freckles across her face. As the rest of her outfit falls away, it reveals her lean muscles and shapely curves.
As Firefly strips down, he reveals himself to be a young man with slightly darker skin than bones, spiky white hair, and electric blue eyes. His own muscles are of similar condition to his partner's as they had both undergone similar training for their jobs. He has a few minor burn scars across his body.
Taking a look over at Bones, Firefly lets out a low whistle of appreciation, as he always does when he sees her body. Bones gives him a gentle smack on the shoulder and halfhearted glare.
Bones pipes up, "Alright, Touya, whose taking the shower first tonight?"
Touya smirks, "Well, Maki, we could always share it."
Maki gives him a look, "Yeah, no. Too tired for your shenanigans tonight."
Touya shrugs, "Fair enough. You can go first then."
With a smile, Maki leans in and gives her boyfriend a kiss, "Thank you."
As Maki heads off to take her shower, Touya smiles to himself. The two of them may be at odds with the law, but life is pretty good all things considered.
(Aizawa)
Stepping into his apartment, being careful not to disturb his husband or cats, Aizawa pulls out his phone, dialing the number ever UA teacher had saved in their phone and knew by heart.
Nezu picks up, quite chipper despite the early hour, "Good morning Aizawa! How may I help you at 6:22 in the morning?"
Aizawa wastes no time with his request, "I have two people I'd like to recommend for the Vigilante Reform Program."
A/N: Another Fic that came out of nowhere for me, but I like the premise quite a bit so I'm looking forward to more of this.
